Kaith's first Hatching

Kia looked worriedly at the gray egg. She knew she was aloud to help the hatchling but she wasn't sure if she could help them hatch. She looked worriedly at Christae but there was no way Christae could know what she meant. Kia took a few tentative steps towards the little egg. She stopped as she was very close.

[nike]

Sh'iron nodded. "I'm fine. It's really nothing. I'll have Nike clean it up."
The Weyrling said, nodding towards the Healer who was walking away from T'rin. The new Weyrling was being attented to by one of the Jourenymen Healers. "BUt after you." He said with a warm smile.

His eyes were resting on the new queen and the copper. "Who do you think will Impress the queen?" He asked his weyrmate.

Nike nodded when one of the Jourenymen came and took to tending to T'rin. The Healer then slunk back into the shadows. Her eyes were on the little gray egg. She looked around, everyone was watching the copper and the queen, good. Nike gave a quick sigh and then slowly walked to the egg, her back to the wall.

This egg had to hatch, it had too! Soon the Healer was standing by the egg with her kit on the ground and her eyes keen on it.
Good thing no one was looking at her.

Nike saw Kia come walking close to the gray egg. The Healer mental cursed and crouched down low.
Her kit was clutched to her chest, making sure no one could see her behind the egg.
Why did she have to have a love for dragons, and hated seeing animals die? Faranth knows why!

((And Curth, no one knows that Nike is by the gray egg. Plus Sh'iorn is still standing next to Christae who is next to Kaith. Read the posts, or I can do something to you so mean that you won't be able to complain about it.))

Kia stood just next to the white egg. Looking at Christae. Looking over the egg she saw green, contrasting with the background. "Uuuuhh-," she said quietly so nobody but Nike would here.

[nike]

Nike poked her head out from behind the egg.
"Kia, please don't tell! Please!" The Healer whispered to the Candidate.
She pulled her head back from behind the egg. Why did she have to have red hair? And wear green?
Shells, I'm a dimglow!

The copper gave a wierd little cry. The dragons surrounding the Hatching Grounds crooned encouragingly at their young sister and future junior Queen.

The copper walked up to Kia. The dragonet grabbed the hem of her Candidates robe and proceeded to drag her towards the tables where drudges had left meat. Her eyes whirled with the rainbow colors of Impression as she tried to drag her chosen off the sands.

The gold queen snorted when the copper Impressed. Not satisfied with the girls in the sands she turned.

Miya. You have much to do to be worthy of such as me.

The Queen's head was held high. She was a haughty little creature and would be a handful to care for.

Feed your Reinath before I go /between/ from hunger. What are you waiting for? Don't just stand there gawking like a wherry.

"I won't tell," she whispered with a reassuring smile. "Look, I'll help the egg a little so it isn't suspicious and then walk back. You stay here and help the egg from over there, ok," she asked. Kia looked over, seeing if Nike understood.

D'ran looked suspiciously at Kia. "What is she doing," he asked mostly to himself.

V'lar heard the copper, then saw it pulling Kia to the meat table. It had impressed Kia and was really hungry. Then Miya had impressed the gold. Now only one egg was left on the sands, the weird one.

That was a good impression, the copper and Kia, and so was Miya and the Gold.

Kia looked back and felt something tugging at her. She looked at the little copper silently, just staring. She took a few steps towards the sides and the meat and oil.

Kia took a deep breath and walked with Kylath.

Nike grinned as Kia Impressed. "Good job Kia." She whispered as she stuck her head out from behind the egg.
The Healer was too happy for her friend to notice Miya Impressing the gold.

Sh'iron grinned and clapped when Miya and Kia Impressed. The Weyrleader looked over the sands.
Hmm so only that gray egg didn't hatch. "Alright Christae, the Hatching is over. Let's go find Nike and get healed."
He said, looking for the tall, lanky figure of the Healer.

Christae grimaced when the gold chose Miya. She, as Weyrwoman, would have to train the two since they would be Junior Queen and Junior Weyrwoman under her. Then she smiled. At least she could keep the girl out of trouble, she hoped. She applauded.

Christae turned her head to see where the little copper had gone. She looked confused for a second and then realized what Kia had been about to do. She lifted her hand, as if that could stop Kia and the Master Healer from trying to crack open the egg.

"Stop! If it can't hatch on its own that means there is something wrong with it!" She started forward, meaning to stop her friend.

NIke looked up when Christae noticed her. The Healer took out her belt knife.
"I won't let it die Christae!" She cried out then started trying to open the shell.

V'lar saw the worried look on Christae's face. She was trying to let the egg hatch the natural way.

Verdeth looked over at the grey egg, she wondered if it could hear her.

Kia looked worriedly back at Nike, hoping the egg would just hatch now. "Nike," she said. Kia meant to yell but it came out in a faint whisper. Kylath tugged at her robes again.

~Hush. My friend might be in trouble.~

Kylath tugged and tuggen until the robe escaped her jaws and she tumbled back wards.

The tough egg split open under the Master Healer's belt knife. A wet, tiny creature fell out of it, creeling weakly.

The creature looked up before Christae could reach Nike. It's eyes met the Healer's and it whirled with the rainbow colors of Impression.

The creature's hide was silvery white, almost reminiscent of the fabled Ruth's but this one did not have the rainbow mixture in it's gleaming expanse of hide.



She creeled her hunger.

Nike, please feed your Ruanth.

She was tiny, smaller even than K'dan's blue.

((I hope you don't mind Nike...I didn't want to make it too much like Ruth because that was copyrighting....if you mind too much I will change the gender))

V'lar saw the little white, just like he had hoped come out of the egg. It even impressed Nike, now the hatching was over. Christae would probably mad a Nike, like Lessa and F'lar were with J'xom.

R’dan had clapped loudly for Kia’s impression. Though, it looked like she didn’t notice she’d impressed, she kept looking over at the Grey Egg. He heard Christae yelling at someone near the grey egg and turned to see what was happening.
~The healer is helping the small egg hatch.~ Jesseth said.

B’kin clapped for the last two impressions of the gold and the strange copper dragon. Everyone had impressed, no hatchings had gone between, and as far as he could tell the others that had been mauled weren’t hurt /too/ bad. The hatching was over, at least he thought it was over Christae was yelling at someone though. He tried to get a better vantage point but Ronoth grabbed onto the bottom of his robes again.

Kia had on a broad smiled and walked to get meat for Kylath. She got a little and gave it to the Copper.

Kia grabbed some meat for Nike.
