Kallan slipped into the crowd. He was rather surprised by the amount of people here, then again it wasn't just a small Hold but a Weyr. Also the few dragons who hadn't gone up to sun took up a lot of space and made it seem even more populated. He was slowly making his way towards the WW, figured he'd at least say hello, when he heard someone say that there were lots of people here.
"That's what I was just thinking," he blurted out excitedly, turning to see the couple. Never mind that he might be interrupting a conversion he smiled to the two (Tanwen, Sh'ham) "Hey, I'm Kallan, a Candidate here. You here for the clean up? Well if you're not you'll probably get roped into it anyway. Thats how I ended up here. I don't really like cleaning, but this mess is worse then cleaning so I'm helping this time."
~~~~~~~~~~~~
At least the clean up would be a welcome distraction for Satnee. This was something she was used to, something not dragon oriented. She was becoming used to being a weyrling, but it still chafed sometimes, especially with Elieth being such a pain. I wouldn't have to be a pain if you'd just listen to me the first time.
I do believe I'm the one in charge here. After all, I'm many years your senior, respect your elders.
The little green snorted, not deigning to respond to that comment. She waddled through the crowd until they were close enough to hear any annoucements the WW or WLM might say. Greetings to you and your mine, Kaith. Elieth could at least be polite to other people. Then again, they didn't hate her for being a dragon. She'd turn Satnee around, she was sure of it.
~~~~~~
Sorcha slowly made her way to the Weyr Bowl. It had taken a while to figure out which outfit to wear. If she was going to get dirty she didn't want to ruin a good outfit. To her dismay she'd found out all her clothes were in the same state, rather poor. It was about time she made her way to a Gather and buy new clothes, get something other than work clothes. Of course, she made this discovery after a Gather had just went pass. Good news, she didn't have to worry about ruining anything.

V’ian glanced down at the kids, twins apparently. He had wondered briefly who the kids were and their parents. He knew now that G’han was the father, and apparently this Rhia was the mother. So on the plus side, he could deduct that the greenrider was not the mother (Since Anassa said that ‘Rhia’ was busy). Therefore he would hold no guilt for flirting with her in front of G’han – no offense to him. He looked away from the two little children and made eye contact with Anassa.
A smile quickly found its place on his face. “Bless your soul!” He cried happily, placing his hand on the girls arm for a second. He let his hand drop, “I was about to ask in a few moments which one was the Weyrwoman. But you saved me!” He would introduce himself sooner or later, definitely before the day ended. She looked busy at the moment though and he hated the idea of interrupting her. “Thanks for the warm welcome by the way.” He added before pointing a thumb towards where Waeith was contently waiting. “He’s Waeith. And I’m V’ian.” He replied, happy to introduce himself (Especially to a pretty greenrider).
It’s a pleasure to meet you. Waeith said humbly, probably unlike a bronze, to Anassa and Priath.
He leaned in silently, “I’m just visiting.” He leaned back out and shrugged, “Looking for someone but apparently she remains elusive.” He nodded towards G’han, “He said he never heard of the girl I was looking for.”

((I hope I don't really screw anyone up here. I'm trying to make my entrance as non-intrusive as possible, since I only had enough time to skim the 48 posts preceding mine. Much as I'd love to have given each post the full read it deserved, I just hadn't the time. My apologies, all, and I hope this makes up for my unforgivable absence.)) T’ran ran into the bowl, realizing how high the sun was and how royally late he really was. Shard it all, he thought to himself, First full day on the job and I’m already mucking it all up. Good job, T’ran, good job indeed.He had been dreaming, really, of his life back in Fort Weyr, at the Harper Hall. Most of the peaceful nights, that’s what he dreamed. T’ran had always been more happy there than he had at Fort Weyr, anyway. The Harpers were singing one of the ballads in the dream, he right along with them. The boy loved his craft, and couldn’t wait to be a Masterharper, some day. It would be some time yet, he knew, but it would happen. One of the girls at the Hall, a beautiful woman by the name of Aedera, winked at him. They had spent a few nights together in the past, but Talran didn’t see any reason to break it off with her, simply because of that. As long as she could keep her mind out of the gutter and continue their relationship as it really was --nothing but meaningless drivel-, they would be fine. Commitment was not exactly Talran’s strongest suit. In fact, he hated playing cards. Sauntering up to the girl, the Journeyman Harper placed his hand against the wall, over her shoulder in a very possessive manner. “Hello darlin,” he said, just the slightest bit of a Southern Boll accent in his voice, even after these years, “I believe that you and I have some unfinished business to look over. Perhaps later?” That coy little smile on the girl’s face, as always, she batted those pretty little eyes up at him and played with her braided hair, appearing as innocent as possible. “Don’t you think it’s time to wake up, T’ranmine?”“What?” His confusion had no end, surely. What did this girl say? T’ranmine, the others are out in the bowl, meeting for something. Weren’t you told that they were cleaning today?And here he was, back in the real world. Six years later, a full lifetime of changes. Aedera was gone, who knew where she had gone since he had left Fort, and so had the others. With a sigh, T’ran made his way up to a sitting position, a quick yawn taking over his concentration, causing him to stretch. Bones in his back popped in reluctance, but it felt good to the bronze rider. His mind was still slightly fuzzy, thanks to the surprisingly deep sleep he’d just woken from. “What was that, buddy?” he asked into his hands, which were rubbing the sleep from his eyes. You were supposed to be outside to help with the cleanup, T’ranmine. You are late.“Shard it all!” the rider exclaimed, leaping from his bed and running around their weyr in a frenzy. Nobody had woken him! How could they have expected him to know the difference in time? It was a different hemisphere, different positions for the sun to rise on. It was probably only just then dawn at Fort! Okay, with his history, probably not. But still! They could have woken him on his first day! “Blast it!” he exclaimed again as he threw on clothes. Today’s wardrobe was not the one of the day before, instead a much more modest suit of black pants, a buttoned blue tunic, gloves, and boots. T’ran carried the boots in his hand as he ran the corridors toward the bowl. Fallieth was taking the back way. He wasn’t saddled, as there really wasn’t time in T’ran’s mind to do such things. Bare feet padding quietly against the cold stone, the rider flew through the hallways, a steady stream of curses leaving his mouth until… …He broke into the bowl, looking down upon the crowd of people, his hair awry, his face a showing of pure shock and disappointment in himself. Shard it all, he thought to himself. First full day on the job and I’m already mucking it all up. Good job, T’ran, good job indeed.~*~*~*~ She hadn’t actually expected such an entrance, to be quite honest. The search dragon bugled a happy hello to the watch dragon, though a warning wasn’t exactly needed. As soon as they’d popped from the hellish, cold of between, Elayne and the search rider saw all of the people gathered on the bowl below. He said something she didn’t hear. Having not heard, she had no idea of what to say in return, really. Not that she’d probably have said anything anyway. Landing on one end of the bowl, the rider dropped her off, vaulting from the dragon’s back and landing perfectly. “Now,” he said to her, smiling reassuringly at the sight of this girl, almost in tears from fright. “There’s no need to be frightened, you see? I’ll stay with you until you at least meet someone else to lead you around. You’ll be alright here. Much better off than you were before, anyway.” “T-thank you,” the girl said in reply, clutching at her few belongings as if they were her last link to life. She was, as she had been since striking out into the world on her own, afraid.

Marletta was used to being whined at. She had helped her father take care of her four younger brothers. The weyrling gave the older rider a mock stern look which quickly faded into a smile as she realized how silly this was. Here she was practically scolding a rider, who held rank above her. It seemed unlikely that Akki would hold that over anyone’s head. “I don’t want Issaeyith to be known for gossip. The way Issaeyith responded to me make think that Kelioth was none too pleased that this little green,” she pointed to Issaeyith, “woke her up.”
My mine was just as interested as to who the new person was too. Although, I think many new people have arrived to help. Issaeyith said to Akki.
When Akki leapt behind her Marletta had to laugh since Akki was several inches taller than her making it rather difficult for the bluerider to hide. Next thing she knew Marletta was being shook by Akki, “Well, you could hope that he forgets it was you. There are a lot of people here and he’s new. Or… if he does remember you could say it’s how you greet people in the Southern Continent.” ---
Sh’ham nodded in response to Tanwen’s response he was about to say speak but didn’t have a chance when Kallan arrived. He grinned as the boy began to speak a dragon’s length a minute. “Morning Kallan,” He greeted before responding to the boy’s question, “Indeed I am. My brother brought me here to help.” He looked around the Weyr Bowl again, “Surely with this many people it can’t take too long. And if it does you’ll have someone to talk to while working.”
He paused for a moment before he realized he wasn’t sure who the girl he was standing next to was and he had not introduced himself, some manners he had. “Forgive me, I did not introduce myself before,” he said to Tanwen, “I’m Sh’ham of Green Kelioth.”

Aarora caught the signal that was being directed at her, and felt a wave of embarrassment at having even suggested such a thing around the two toddlers. “Right, of course, who would need anything more?” She looked down at the little girl when she asked her a question, her tiny voice practically making her heart swell. She knelt back down to the level of the child to answer. She placed her hands against her knees, trying to keep balanced on her feet. “Yah baby, I am. Is that what you’re going to be when you grow-up?” Again she found herself having to stand back up to be able to converse successfully with the new Bronzerider. She quirked an eyebrow, grinning. Her voice gave away her urge to laugh;
“I don’t know V’ian, which would you prefer to be known by? Most guys don’t appreciate admitting that they’re lost, though most guys also aren’t particularly fond of having a smell, but I get the feeling that you’re not most guys-are you?” she asked him, leaning out a bit to get a better look at him, her head turned to the side as if she was studying a work of art. “Yah, you’d better make it up to me,” she replied, continuing on with her bought of soft chuckles, loving to laugh. “I’ve been known to hold a grudge,” she teased, sealing her comment with a wink. She shook his offered hand as soon as he had it out, wasting no time in introducing herself. “Aarora, rider of Green Rasth. It’s a pleasure to meet you both, really.”
My rider speaks the truth, it really is a pleasure Waeith. Rasth fanned her wings in a showy display, attempting to gain Waeith’s attention, and yet keep Gerenanth’s. Most certainly a noble thing to do, I can only imagine how difficult the conversation must have been for Yours, Rasth told Gerenanth, crooning comfortingly, for she was sure that Gerenanth must have shared his riders emotions at times of difficulty as she did Aarora’s. Her faceted eyes remained whirring the same deep blue.
Aarora turned to Rhia, a huge smile spread across her features, finally the person she’d wanted to talk to was here, though the men certainly would have been on her tour and... Before she could get a word in edgewise Rhia was off tending to duties. The greenrider felt that as soon as her mouth had been open to utter words it had just as soon been shut due to the Candidate Master’s departure. “Well, that went well,” she said, her smile still in place, visibly not taking Rhia’s actions to heart. Clearly Rhia was a busy woman. “Is she always like that?” she asked G’han, eyeing him.
“Anassa you said?” she asked, making sure she had the girls name right. “I’m Aarora, rider of Green Rasth.” She had to admit, she was mildly distracted right now, and from the looks of it Anassa wouldn’t have noticed for she was having the same problem. When V’ian began to joke and flirt with Anassa as well she turned away, taking a quick scan of her surroundings to see if anything much had changed before her gaze was then focused up on G’han. “They really are cute kids, I’ll give you that. I’m new here, as in staying here... I guess it’s hard to determine because there are so many going in and out because of this-disaster was it? Looks like a hurricane stormed through the place,” she frowned, shaking her head back and forth lightly, her curls bouncing. The place was a mess, but it only took a brief view of the place to determine that, so it needn’t be said.

His chance at getting in good with the new female greenrider and not only did his kids have to come running to him at the most perfect of moments, but another bronzerider was making small talk with her. However, the feeling passed quickly as he looked back to his two little ones and smiled. He didn't hold that against the little ones at all, infact he was overjoyed that they would even run to him and call him daddy. So what if his chances with the new greenrider may be ruined? He still had two kids to love and who would love him back.
Oh yes. G'han wasn't sure he'd make it out of the conversation alive. But things have gone smoothly since they worked things out. Gerenanth had been very concerned for his rider, but that's why he wanted the conversation to take place in the first place. The bronze knew, atleast for his rider, that he wouldn't be able to move on if they just kept avoiding each other and not talked it out. Now it seems mine is ready to move on. The bronze admitted proudly. Afterall, it was his doing that made him ready. Right?
G'han looked over to where Rhia was momentarily then back at Aarora. "You have no idea", he said, dragging the words out. G'han looked at his kids for a moment and ruffled Rehan's hair again. "They certainly are. Probably got that from their mother", G'han looked back up at her with a smile. Well, he could try to be humble. "Yes, it was a hurricane", G'han said as he stood up to full height. "Not a very opportune time for it to happen either. It was in the middle of a hatching so we had to get in as many people coming to it as we could. That was my duty anyway. Brave a storm, save lives, play hero. All in a day's work for a bronzerider. No?", G'han responded. Oh well, there went humility right out the door. He allowed his eyes to linger as her hair bobbed as it did. But G'han was making sure not to make it aware infront of the kids. A few discreet glances here and there couldn't hurt.

Careful oldtimer. You may be older than me, but I'm bigger than you. Kilzanth's tone held a false note of derision, he really had nothing against the smaller breeds of dragons. He just liked to mess with Ebbeth when the blue tried to pull rank due to his age. Kilzanth was secure in his identity as a bronze.
"Yeah Akki, I like him enough to forgive him as well." He gave a wry smile. "Wait what?" P'rin looked surprised. It really shouldn't have surprised him coming from Akki. What surprised him was that weyr gossip was already starting just because he and Wolf had had a little chat at the Hatching Feast.
"I think you must be mistaken Akki." P'rin managed to say as crimson blossomed under his tan. He didn't bother to try to duck his head to hide it. He could feel its heat and he knew that anyone else near him would see the scarlet blush on his face. "Wolf and I are friends. We had Weyrling lessons together." He hoped that Akki would leave it at that but he knew the bluerider had a penchant for stirring up chaos wherever she went. They all loved her for it but it made for rather embarassing moments.
Kilzanth snorted with amusement. Indeed, it seems so Rimith. What I love is the fact that his face is scarlet and he doesn't know where to put himself right now. Wolf is within hearing range and Akki was not very subtle about that. The dragon was very amused by this. He knew his rider wanted to sink into the dirt at the moment.

Akki’s voice tended to carry, especially when in such close range. Wolf couldn’t believe her ears, was Akki seriously asking P’rin what she thought she was asking P’rin? It was Akki, so of course! Wolf began to choke on the air, feeling as if her oxygen was depleted. She reached behind to pat herself on the back, bent over, a hand on her knee while she coughed madly. Oh Mine, does this mean P’rin thinks you’re beautiful too? Oh, we’re both very lucky, no? Wolf’s face went from being a choking blue to a paler white, her breath coming back to her as she stood up and attempted to casually glance over in P’rin’s direction. His response to the bluerider made her stomach turn over, and at that she slowly averted her eyes to look away and focus her attentions elsewhere. Her attempt to avert her attention would’ve been successful had it not been for P’rin’s highly noticeable change in color, why, the boy appeared as if he was squirming! Wolf quickly stared at the ground, a toothy smile on her face.
She then recalled Serinth, and quickly sent to the dragon: Don’t breathe a word about this Serinth, please, oh please, Wolf begged her bonded, knowing that the Gold did love to talk. I understand completely, there is nothing to worry about, no one shall know... Of course, it might be too late... Wolf’s gaze shot up to the heights, and she glowered playfully at her dragon. WHY would it be too late, Serinth? she asked her dragon slowly, trying to keep calm. The last thing P’rin needed was to glance on over at her, or Akki for that matter, and see that she too looked just as unsettled. Well Akki has never been known to keep a lid on things, isn’t that right? “Uh... I almost forgot entirely about that,” Wolf whispered, placing a hand on her forehead.
No matter, as long as she kept her cool then Akki wouldn’t be able to utter a word to anyone about the two. It’s not like P’rin hadn’t been honest with the girl anyhow, they were friends, and therefore no one should think anything more of their friendship. P’rin wasn’t a liar.
Oh Kilzanth, your rider is quite red. I’m very much so enjoying this entire event that is playing out, are you? Mine is doing her best to not bring attention to herself, but after fighting with the air I don’t think she’s succeeded all that well.

Akki snorted loudly as she saw T’ran and Fallieth enter the Weyrbowl, just a bit late. A sly smile grew on her face as she watched the man from where she stood. Ebbeth, be a dear and do something for me? She requested silently.
I hate to disturb you Fallieth, but I am supposed to ask if you could tell your rider something from mine. Something along the lines of ‘You get points taken off for being late’ Ebbeth said humbly. He was well aware that T’ran had to prove himself as a valuable asset to Akki and he knew that the girl had every intention of being harsh as possible. She wanted to win.
She tore her gaze away from T’ran so she could pay attention to Marletta. “Aren’t greens supposed to gossip? Or am I making this up?” She asked with a slight frown. She thought she heard that somewhere but who knows. She snapped her fingers, “I will simply pretend that it was not me he saw wiggling. But you instead. Hope you don’t mind.” She finished with a casual shrug and a crooked smile on her face.
She looked down at Issaeyith, “Really? I noticed a fair amount of new people. I wonder how many have come in all then…”
Akki couldn’t help but giggle as she watched P’rins reaction. She really should mind her own business, but this was just far too much fun. She lived for reactions like this. She tucked her hands behind her head and kicked at the ground. “That’s it? That’s all you’re going to give me to work with?” She sighed hopelessly. “Fine, fine. I was hoping for something a little bit juicier but I guess this is fine too.” She said, slapping P’rins back slightly with a grin. The poor guy.
Don’t make me come down there. Ebbeth warned Kilzanth ominously.
----
Hasima felt bad for P’rin and Wolf. Akki wasn’t very discreet about her questions. Her voice was loud and her actions almost always drew attention. It was almost guaranteed that others would have heard. She blushed a deep red on Wolf and P’rins behalf before quietly excusing herself.
She had seen J’kiran walk around and was hoping that maybe the boy knew where Kestrel was. She hadn’t been able to find her best friend all day long and she still wasn’t at the clean up. Kestrel rarely ever ran late. She walked over to J’kiran, tugging slightly at his sleeve. “Have you seen Kestrel?” She asked with innocent wide eyes, a hint of a blush on her face. She wasn’t good at starting conversations, they made her nervous. But she wanted to find Kestrel.
Ebbeth’s rider seems to be incapable of subtlety. Rimith replied. There was not a hint of malice in her voice, she was just stating a fact that everyone knew.

“I am more then willing to admit that I am lost. That way, with some luck, a pretty girl will give me directions.” V’ian pointed out, emphasizing his point as he shook his finger slightly. He wasn’t singling out Aarora as he said this; he was just stating a general opinion of his. He shrugged casually, with a ‘What can you do about it?’ look on his face. “If the new guy smell is a good smell to have than who am I to complain?”
His brown eyes glittered with amusement as he talked to Aarora. “And I don’t want anyone to be mad at me already. That would be a horrible first impression for Dark Moon to have of me.” He said with a slight look of horror on his face. On the plus side, if he did make a bad impression there was at least the fact that he was only visiting and could split whenever. So if a mob of people came after him angrily, he could leave with no regrets of abandoning his home.
He looked down at the two children and then back at G’han. “If I make funny faces at them in an attempt to keep them amused, they won’t cry will they?” V’ian sniffed, sounding slightly nervous. He had never been around kids often and didn’t really know how they would react to things. He never had any kids (At least he was pretty sure he didn’t) so he didn’t have that fatherly instinct just yet.
The pleasure is all ours. Waeith replied courteously. He was a funny bronze, according to the other dragons back at home. He talked to everyone politely and with respect. He didn’t want to get a bad reputation. Plus, it’s nice to know that I am not the only new dragon at Dark Moon.

T’ranmine?Yes, Fallieth?Ebbeth asked me to convey a message from his rider to you.Oh, really now? That can’t be good.It seems you’ve lost points with her for being late.Oh, joy, that’s exactly what I needed.During this little mental conversation between dragon and rider, the latter was busy finally putting on his boots. The buckles and laces and things that seemed impressive took a sharding long time to be done up, really. It was horrid to put them on when one was hoping not to be late, which was why T’ran had waited until this point to put them on. Then again, he couldn’t be that late, considering that everyone was just standing around socializing. As far as the bronze-rider could tell, there was no work going on yet. That could be worked to his advantage. With that in mind, T’ran prepared a dragon-delivered response for the cheeky blue-rider. Fallieth, if you would deliver a response for me?What is it that you would like for me to say?Something along the lines that I’m obviously not late enough to prove myself invaluable just yet.As you wish.The dragon went quiet for a moment, his thoughts being in ‘transfer’ mode instead of ‘open to rider’ mode. As soon as he was done, T’ran had another question for him. By the way, how is my hair?I do not believe it is my place to answer that, T’ranmine. You should ask somebody else.~*~*~ The people in the Bowl seemed quite content ignoring her, Elayne thought. They must get candidates all the time, to not even look up at the search-dragon and ‘the new girl’. Her bag in one hand, the girl clasped her hands together in front of herself, as if covering up. The search rider stayed with her, thankfully, and kept trying to talk to her. “How has Southern Hold been? It has been a while since I’d searched there.” “Uh..” she responded, not really wanting him to know that she was on the streets before he’d gotten there, “same as, uh, always, I guess.”

Anassa smiled at the comment that she might as well be the twins aunt. "They're good kids. I don't mind helping with them. Anyway, I won't be helping much longer. Once Christae assigns me to a formal wing I won't have as much time to spend with them."
"A pleasure to meet you bronzerider V'ian. I hope you find who you are looking for. I'm glad to help. The Weyrwoman will probably call for all newcomers to come to her anyway because she probably has all of the other riders and weyrfolk in work crews already." She smiled at Aarora, "I hope you enjoy your time at Dark Moon and it becomes as much a home for you as it has for me."
Anassa chuckled. She knew the comment about the funny faces was directed to G'han, but in all fairness, he hadn't been back home all that long and his duties didn't allow him as much time with the children as the bronzerider would have liked. Consequently, most of the other riders at the Weyr knew the quirks of the twins and little Chiron better than he did.
"They like funny faces and dragons. They climb all over the dragons. Ebbeth always complains that he is embarrassed by the little ones making a climbing toy of him. Priath doesn't mind if she gets a bath and oiling afterwards and the little ones love to do that. They get more oil on themselves than they do on the dragon though." She smiled prettily at the new bronzerider.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Giana giggled at Aarora. "I wan be dagon when I gow up." She was having a bit of trouble with her r sounds. Sometimes they came out, other times they just got skipped.
OOC:Just to clarify things, Rhia was talking to Sh'ham before she went to see about her duties. She never actually made it to Aarora. She was on her way there when she saw new Candidates arrive.
IC:
Rhia turned from sending one Candidate off and was confronted by another. At mention of the name Dicar, Rhia's mind flicked back to another Candidate that had been shipped out to another weyr. The similarity in the name was just a coincidence. This boy looked nothing like the Dicer that had caused so much trouble in the Weyr Turns ago.
"Welcome to Dark Moon Weyr Candidate Dicar. I'll send a drudge to show you where you will be staying. Our Candidate and Weyrling barracks took the most damage in the hurricane and we are housing the Candidates and Weyrlings inside the Weyr for now. We will be cleaning today so after the drudge shows you where to put your things down she'll show you where you can get some klah or fruit juice and a roll and then lead you back here to receive Weyrwoman Christae's orders."
Rhia waved over a drudge and then saw another dragon land with another Candidate. "So many new Candidates and no clutch on the sands as of yet." Rhia remarked with a hint of wry amusement. "Stay with me Candidate Dicar and we will go greet the newcomer and the drudge can show both of you where to go at the same time."
Rhia led Dicar and the drudge over to where the new Candidate was standing with the Searchrider. "Good day to you both and welcome to Dark Moon Weyr. I am Candidate Master and Weyrling Master Rhia of brown Mneith. I was just going to have Talora show Candidate Dicar where to go to settle down and get a bit of food before the clean up starts. We have a lot of work today and I think Weyrwoman Christae will be starting soon."
Dicar simply listened to the woman as she talked. Just his luck to become a candidate and be sent here right after a hurricane and just in time for clean up. He looked over at the new candidate when she mentioned her. Oh great, greeting someone was just what he wanted to do. He'd sigh discontentedly and roll his eyes if he didn't know better. Instead he kept his silence. His eyes were near glaring, but that was just a look that stuck.
People that knew of Dicar back at his hold would think him cold, mean, a loner. Perhaps they were right to some degree, but he was only 15 and he had been through more than enough. Or so he wanted to think. "Alright", he said simply, complying with the CM's wishes and following quietly.
When the CM mentioned his name Dicar simply raised his hand, threw up two fingers from his fist and waved slightly with them. Nearly like a salute, but a simple greeting wave for him and to show who this Dicar was that she mentioned.
I'm shaking in my hide. Kilzanth told Ebbeth sarcastically. His tone altered when he responded to Serinth's comment about his rider. P'rin doesn't realize that Wolf heard! Oh this is amusing, I agree Serinth.
P'rin was trying to get his face to cool. "There's nothing for you to work with Akki. Wolf and I were Weyrlings together and we chatted at the Hatching Feast." He tried to sound casual but he wasn't sure if he had pulled it off.
Wolf heard all that.
P'rin nearly groaned aloud. Oh no. That's not good. He glanced at her and saw her looking unsettled. He wasn't sure why she had that look on her face. That made him even more concerned by Akki's blunt interest.
Well bronze Gerenanth, I’m happy that yours has decided to move on as well, Rasth told him truthfully, for it meant that she was able to flirt with the bronze more comfortably. The green didn’t think hers was fairing too badly in conversation with Gerenanth’s rider either, they seemed to carry on talking well enough. The green, well not apt to admitting it even to her rider, wanted to eventually find ‘a’ suitable dragon as a remaining partner, which most greens did anyhow, if not all too flighty like some.
Aarora stuck her tongue out between her teeth, biting it gently, snickering at G’han’s response to her question about Rhia. Aarora shifted all her weight to one foot, “Well, I’m sure everyone was more than glad to have you around to do your duty, do you often take charge here?” she asked him, half teasing, half not. It was very possible that he was assigned as a Wingleader, Wingsecond, or some other important role that was highly esteemed in the Weyr. “Me, I just try to help out where I can, you know? It seems like all the Weyrs can use an extra hand or two these days. As long as everyone’s safe and happy,” she explained with a light shrug of her right shoulder.
Aarora, perceptive-as was formerly stated-picked up on each time he allowed himself a glance, not saying anything only because his kids were present. How lucky for him. “A dragon?” she gasped at G’han’s daughters reply. “You don’t say? Well, that’s quite a proud job, doesn’t get much better than that actually.” She was staring straight down, deciding to not kneel for the third time. She would only look quite silly going up and down, up and down, like that. She stretched her arms high up over her head, lacing her fingers together. She then bent back a bit as to stretch out her back, relieving a bit of the tension in her muscles.
Yes, I feel comforted by the presence of another new dragon also, what say you to keeping in regular contact? That way we can fill each other in on everything we need to know, as new dragons of course. No, she most certainly wasn’t about to lose Waeith, she’d work her power as a green to keep it that way. Gerenanth, the idea of yours showing mine about the Weyr is splendid-no?
“Thank you,” she said to Anassa, putting on a warm smile. “I really appreciate that.” She then looked back to V’ian, her smile changing to a mischievous smirk. “Well, well, you sound like you’ll make your way just fine here V’ian. Who had you said you were looking for?” she asked, hiding the glint of worry that threatened to shimmer in her eyes. All she remembered was him asking for a greenrider when he first came in...
Akki’s eyes once again became distant as Ebbeth communicated to her.
Fallieth would like to say that they can not be considered worthless just yet. The blue dragon replied pleasantly. He did not mind being the ‘in between’, he was glad to know that his rider was socializing. Mind you, his rider was always socializing. Not that he could complain, it gave him a chance to talk to the other dragons.
Akki rolled her eyes. She had no intent to let T’ran win their wager. She would make this hard for him. Even if he did prove himself valuable (Which he was sure to do) she would still inform him that in her eyes, he wasn’t so top notch. It was playing hard to get, but without the coy flirting. Well, without all the coy flirting. She was taken, but she still had the tendency to flirt nonetheless. You can tell T’ran to socialize so he can stop standing around awkwardly. Tell him to chat someone up or make his way over here. She told her blue, who happily forwarded the message to Fallieth.
You should shake in your hide Kilzanth. Ebbeth said in a so called threatening tone. I’m on good terms with Kaith you know. I can get her to do my dirty work. That was his attempt at a threat, have the large Queen dragon go after the bronze.
“But that’s no fun for me P’rin.” Akki replied in a whiny tone. She wanted gossip! Juicy gossip that would hold her interest for countless sevendays to come! Gossip that she could dissect. P’rin was not giving her the details she wanted. Which meant she would have to go ask Wolf later on. Maybe her friend would give her what she wanted to hear.
“I’m not the best with children.” V’ian confided in Anassa quietly, as if he was telling her some deep dark secret of his. Most people knew he was bad with children though when they got to know them. He had accidentally cracked his sisters head open when she was younger. He had been tossing her up and down, got distracted and simply forgot to catch her. It really wasn’t his fault.
He smiled crookedly at Anassa, eyes half closed and looking quite mellow. “I’ll just wait until she calls everyone to her. Why walk away from such an interesting group?” He asked, using his hand to motion the people he was talking too. He was glad that the people at Dark Moon were so sociable. At some of the other places he went, they gave him dirty looks and assumed that he was just another ‘hoity toity’ bronzerider. “I wouldn’t mind being climbed on either if it meant a bath afterwards!” V’ian exclaimed with a nod as he knelt on the ground. He scrunched up his face, crossing his eyes and stuck out his tongue at the children. Funny faces was about as fatherly as he got. “I like funny faces and dragons too.” The bronzerider admitted to Giana with a shrug. It was sad because it was true. He officially had the same interests as this little girl.
I enjoy the idea of keeping in contact. Waeith replied happily. He was glad to have made friends with a dragon already. Four eyes are better than two. Therefore if you see any good drama going on the Weyr, you will tell me right? Waeith’s guilty pleasure was gossip and drama. The bronze was more like a green in that context.
V’ian stood back up and faced Aarora. “My sister Akkivahna.” He admitted. He didn’t realize that it could have sounded like he was searching for a long lost lover. However, his lover was so lost that she simply didn’t exist. Don’t get him wrong, he won flights now and then but he didn’t consider those to be anything really. They were more dutiful than anything else, a follow up to his dragons lust to the girls dragon. Anassa had a green dragon and his sister was bound to have a green. If she was here perhaps Anassa could help him out and tell him about all the greenriders here. Or would that make him seem like a giant flirt if he asked that?
G'han simply smiled at Anassa's reply. It would be sad, really. But he understood dragonrider duty all too well. When Anassa answered for him about his children, G'han went back to the thought that he needed to spend more time with his children. He needed to understand them like the rest of the weyr did, and perhaps understand them as only a father could. He simply nodded along with Anassa's reply and watched as the other bronzerider made a face at his little girl, hoping he wouldn't scare her to be honest.
Most certainly. When he's done with the tour, he can bring her back to his weyr for some dinner. Then you and I can spend some personal time on my ledge. Gerenanth brought the subject right back to his offer. He wanted the green to understand just how rare and lucky the offer was and how he was showering her with his attention.
"Oh of course. Where would the weyr be without me?", G'han asked rhetoric with a smirk. Well, he had been gone for some time really. But he was back now! G'han looked up towards the direction where Gerenanth was, then back to Aarora. Seems like his bronze had something all planned out for him. This would be one of those rare times G'han didn't complain or object. After all, this would mean spending plenty of personal time with this greenrider. As the girl stretched, G'han gave a subtle, appreciative glance. Any other would have made it obvious. But G'han knew to be discreet, especially with his kids around him.
Ebbeth says that his rider recommends that you, and I quote, chat somebody up or make your way over to them so that you aren’t just standing around looking like a fool. Really now? She’s going to be impossible, isn’t she? I have no doubt, T’ranmine.True, the conversation between T’ran and Akki by way of dragon had taken only a moment, but apparently he was looking out of place by standing by himself. Shards, he certainly felt different, standing alone! It was not something he was used to. Oh well, he’d just have to make a whole new group of friends. How unfortunate. When he’d first arrived at Fort, T’ran had been much less appealing as a friend in his arrogance, and much more off-putting. He had found it extremely hard to find a group that he could fit into. It had taken the severe cutting-down-to-size that the first Hatching had been, as well as the jeering of everyone else afterward to whittle away at his self-image until it was at a healthy level. Maybe even a lower level than where it should have been. Reflection, he thought to himself, this early in the morning? That’s not natural.After shaking the memory from his head and adopting his normal, pleasant demeanor, the bronze rider strode out into the crowd, making his way toward the first friend he’d made at the Weyr, Akki. It was socialization 101 to go to the people you knew, after all, and to meet other people through them. Networking. She was talking to someone else, he noticed, and so he stood respectfully quiet for a moment, laughing quietly to himself at her whiny, childish tone, and waiting for a good moment to introduce himself to this other male that he had not met yet. Fallieth? Yes, T’ranmine? Why don’t you go and socialize with some of the other dragons? It’ll do them good to meet you. Increase the quality of their lives and all. You said exactly what I was thinking.~*~ On the other side of the bowl, someone had finally approached Elayne. She could feel the aura of respect that this woman commanded, and was fascinated by it. Trailing the woman was a boy that didn’t seem too much younger than Elayne. Something about how he walked, stood, and didn’t speak said that he wasn’t going to be terribly friendly. Either that, or he was a sort of loner. Ha, she could respect that. The woman introduced herself as the Candidate Master. From some of the things that the search rider had said to Elayne on the trip here, this woman would be in charge of her until she Impressed. Then again, as Weyrlingmaster, she would be in charge of the girl until she had a dragon and that dragon was almost fully grown. That much, the girl had learned from the Harpers back at Southern. This woman, Rhia, had an odd grace to her, which seemed counterintuitive to her figure, which would have suggested a bit of clumsiness. Another fascinating point that Elayne didn’t mind noticing. “Uh… okay then. Nice to meet you, um, my name is Elayne.” The girl looked at the ground, still a bit scared. After all, a lifetime of not being accepted could do such a thing to you. The search rider leaned in, whispering to Rhia, “If you couldn’t tell, Elayne here is a bit of a shy one. Good luck with her.” Turning, he patted the girl on the shoulder and smiled. “It’s been nice meeting you, Elayne. I hope to see you around the weyr, and good luck. The Candidate Master here will take good care of you, I’m sure of that. Now, if you’ll all excuse me, it’s been a long night, and I’m about to drop from exhaustion.” And then he was gone. Elayne looked up at the Candidate Master, still a bit intimidated by the woman’s position and obvious influence, and still slightly too reserved to speak any more than she already had.
