Christae stood with her hands on her hips, surveying the branches and debris that had been tossed into her Weyr by the gale force winds that had swept through a mere two days before. With the exictement of the hatching and the few injuries that had been flown in from surrounding Holds, the weyr was still a mess.
Today, the riders and weyrfolk would begin the job of cleaning out the sections of the Weyr that had flooded and the Hatching Sands as well as the Weyr Bowl. The lake was full of debris. The dragons would be capturing the worst of it that was floating around and the riders would pick up the stuff washed up. They would also clean the section of beach that the Weyr bordered and then they would be sent out to help the surrounding holds that tithed to the Weyr.
The ground floor weyrs were filled with debris and sand. They would have to be swept out and cleaned first. The Weyrlings would be moved into the ground floor weyrs to get them out of the storerooms. The Candidates would remain in four of the inner rooms that were reserved for craftsmen. Dark Moon didn't have many so the rooms were open. A skybroom tree had fallen on the Weyrling Barracks and they would have to be repaired. There was mostly water damage in the Candidate barracks and that would be easily cleaned to return them to their place but the Weyrling Barracks would need a lot of work. Christae was even thinking of bringing in craftsmen in to enlarge them. The dragonets and their riders were tripping over each other in the current barracks. The ones who had built Dark Moon hadn't anticipated the larger clutches that were coming now that the Pass was drawing closer. Until the Barracks were repaired the young riders would be housed in ground floor weyrs that were usually uninhabited.
The Weyr's supplies were being hauled out to bring to the Holds that no longer had any. The weyr would later send out riders to gather fruits and supplies from other places that had not been devastated by the hurricane. Other Weyrs were sending help but Dark Moon would provide its own supplies once the surrounding holds were returned to normal. A few holds had already sent word that they would be willing to part with some of their surplus to help restock the places devastated by the Hurricane. Pern had been shocked by the severity of the storm and many had lost their lives. Now they were trying to recover.
Christae was waiting for her Junior Weyrwoman. She had summoned the entire Weyr but Wolf and her Queen would need to be near her to help organize things. She was breking up the weyrfolk and riders into teams. Christae would be in charge of half of the teams and Wolf would be in charge of the others. The Weyrling riders would be cleaning out the ground floor weyrs. Food was prepared for everyone, including the new dragonets and the Weyrlings would remain within the weyr, closely watched by a few riders, including the Weyrlingmaster and the remaining Candidates to help clean. The rest of the riders and weyrfolk would either be working in the Weyr or sent out to holds with supplies.
Nets were being loaded with supplies to be carried by two or three dragons to the nearby holds. Some of the riders would fly straight to look for any travelers who might have been stuck out in the storm. They would help bury the dead and tend to the injured. The Weyr was going to do what it could to help prevent illness. That was a major concern after the storm because water quickly became stagnant in the Southern sun and the supplies that had been spoiled would be dumped as quickly as possible to avoid contamination.
Thoughts of what needed to be done swirled in Christae's mind. She would have a headache by the end of the day but at least she knew that the Weyr would be organized and would do everything it could to help Pern recover quickly.

A sudden change from freezing cold to hot mugginess caused Belior to open his eyes, a bad idea on his part. They had popped out from between high above the weyr. He closed his eyes quickly but not quickly enough, he had seen just how high in the air they were. A wave of nausea washed over the boy and he tightened his grip on the brownrider’s waist. He heard the two dragonriders say something but Belior was focusing too much on not getting sick to listen to what they were saying, hoping they’d soon be on the ground.
--- Sh’rel looked down at Dark Moon Weyr; the devastation caused by the hurricane looked worse from above. He felt the boy tighten his grip, and said, “It’s alright, the first trip between is always the worst,” guessing that the trip between, not the height, was what had frightened the boy.
The Brownrider turned his head when he heard the other rider’s voice. “So this is where you transferred to Sh’rel? It doesn’t look like much,” asked Sh’ham the greenrider. He was Sh’rel’s 19-turn-old half-brother and it was clear the two were related; however Sh’ham was a bit shorter and had darker brown hair.
“It’s seen better days ,Sh’ham, besides that’s why I brought you here to help in the cleaning.”Sh’rel responded. Then to Rolaranth he said,Bring us down Rol, but don’t land looks like too much debris in the bowl. We’re just going to have to slide off you.
Of course, then I get to sleep in the sun yes?
We’ll have to see what Christae needs us to do. With that Rolaranth turned sharply to spiral down close to the bowl and a groan was heard from Belior as the dragon banked left. When they were a couple feet above the Bowl Sh’rel took Belior’s arm and lowered him to the ground, the boy stumbled and looked very much like he was going to faint. Before he could fall, though, Sh’ham was by his side to help steady him. Sh’rel soon joined them on the ground while Rolaranth and Sh’ham’s Kelioth went to wait on weyr ledges.
Sh’rel strode over to where Christae stood, “Morning, Weyrwoman,” he still was not used to calling her by her first name as Akki and the others who had been here longer did, “I’m here to do your bidding,” he said with a smile.
Sh’ham and Belior had made their way over to them slower once they got close enough Sh’rel put his hand on Belior’s shoulder, “And I brought with me some help… Belior from Harper Hall who was Searched,” the boy’s face looked very green and his legs were shaking a bit, as if he would collapse any moment. He offered a weak smile to the Weyrwoman, he would have said something but he felt with the way he was feeling at the moment it would be best to keep his mouth shut.
Sh’rel, rather obliviously, continued with the introductions, “And from Fort Weyr my brother…”
“Sh’ham of green Kelioth,” the green rider interjected, with a grin and a small bow for the Weyrwoman. “Just tell me where we’re needed, Kelioth and I are happy to help.”
As long as I don’t get my hide dirty. Kelioth said just to her rider who grinned lopsidedly. You just might have to, my dear.
((Oh and Sh'ham just going to be a visitor so I didn't think I had to fill in a character profile, if that's not the case I will remedy that. Besides, I might get him to transfer to the Weyr at some point, not sure though))

OOC(( nice post Sparrow..actually they're the only ones in the bowl besides Christae right now but thats fine and as far as Sh'ham goes the charry bio will be needed only if he stays. Temp charries and NPCs dont need a full bio. I would like to see him stay though if you choose later))

[I'm just gonna bring one character in at a time. I've got four of 'em...and cant' do tehm all at once xD Also for the record: Until Kat posts ic reasons, none of my characters are going to know that her characters have left.]
Vaelryn made his way in the direction he'd been told the weyrbowl was. He'd only been there for two days, but he did remember being brought down in the pouring rain out into the weyrbowl. He stepped out into the place and looked around at all the debris now visible that he hadn't seen in the dark. Vaelryn tugged his bag - empty save for one thing right now - over his shoulder more and walked towards the woman standing somewhere near the center; he could only assume it was the weyrwoman.
As he neared her he let his gaze wander around the area, and his expression took on a look of worried nostaglia, or something like it. He could only imagine what his home looked like after such storm, and he could only hope that the winds hadn't' been too bad, or that at least the vineyards hadn't been destroyed. It would take turns to regrow new plants as hardy and of the same quality as those that had been there, and months to let the vines there repair to any usable quality. Vaelryn sighed and reminded himself that there had already been the harvest this turn; his crafthall would be fine for now, they just needed to worry about making sure the plants would grow fine enough for next turns harvest. Slowing to a stop and now standing a bit away and behind the weyrwoman, he opened his eyes and stared at the ground. Even with that reassurance to himself...he couldn't help but feel as though he should be there helping to clean up, instead of here.
Vaelryn looked up to the woman, and tried to remind himself that it only felt that way because he'd only recently arrived. In time, he told himself, this place would feel like home too. He should be glad to have this chance to help out his new home; with any luck, he knew, this would be a permanent home. "Hallo there miss...Weyrwoman, I presume?" Even as he said so he subconsciously adjusted the bag on his shoulder. If she was in fact the werywoman, he could finally give her his father's gift of gratitude - or at least show it to her now, and give it over when she was finished working here.[/size]

Christae smiled at the brownrider. "Welcome home Sh'rel. I am glad to see your mission was fruitful. Welcome Candidate Belior. I hope you are at home here. Sh'rel, show the boy where he can put his things down. Get him a cup of klah from the drudges. First trips *between* are always trying and the warm klah will help. We will be moving everyone around so it won't pay to get comfortable now Belior. Report here afterwards please."
Her smile was genuine and warm, even if she did look a bit tired. Everyone had had a stressful night with the wind sounding like it was going to blow the Weyr down and the water rising dangerously high. "Sh'ham, welcome to Dark Moon as well. I am sorry you have to see us in such a shambles. I trust things are well at Fort Weyr? We welcome the help and thank you. I will be handing out assignments. I am sure we can find something for you to do." Her smile was grateful but it did not humble her as another's gratitude might be humble.
Christae nodded her head to excuse herself as another stepped forward and asked if she was the Weyrwoman. "I am Weyrwoman Christae. How may I help you?" She didn't recognize the lad but there were quite a few in the Weyr that were here from the Hatching and there were several transfers that she hadn't had the chance to meet yet.

Vaelryn offered a smile to the Weyrwoman when she answered him, and he gave a quick nod of greeting. "Pleasure te meet you, Weyrwoman Christae. My names Vaelryn, from the Vintyr hall in Araby Hold. I was searched as a candidate jest a few days ago?" He didn't really expect her to have heard of his arrival, considering all that had been going on, so he figured he'd let her know that.
The boy opened the bag strung over his shoulder and pulled out the bottle of wine, lifting it carefully and holding it out for Christae to take. "My father wanted me te give ye this, as a tolken of gratitude for the Weyr takin me in. He says it's one of his best bottles, been savin it fer quite some time." He'd let her take it and look it over before going on. "I can hold it in my bag fer now, if you'd like."
- - -
Another candidate sauntered into the weyrbowl at that time, wearing her usual attire (in profile) and stepping over to stand with the group gathering. Tanwen just gave a nod and a quick wave in the Weyrwoman's direction, standing off to the side in the group afterwords and waiting for the orders and such to be given out.
[There, got another one in. xD]

Sh’rel smiled back at Christae and bobbed his head, “Of course, Weyrwoman.” The Brownrider looked down at the curlyheaded boy and noticed he was pretty green. He still had his hand on the boy’s shoulder steering the boy on the direction of the temporary housing for the candidate’s. Sh’rel managed to keep up a one-sided conversation with the boy the entire way, which was fine with Belior as he would have been unable to respond.
---
Belior clutched his knapsack to his stomach and tried to memorize where they were going so he’d be able to find the place again. It was all happening so fast. One moment he was on the way to his drum lessons, then some yelled ‘dragonriders’ and sure enough in the sky came down the brown and the green dragon, before he knew it he was sitting behind the Brownrider his eyes tight shut. And now… now he was here, here as a Candidate. Belior set his knapsack on a cot before being whisked away again, and sat down at a table. He declined a mug of klah with a wave of his hand and a shake of his head, but accepted a cup water gratefully. After a few sips his stomach felt a bit better, enough so that he was able to take several deep breaths to ease the tightness in his chest.
Sh’rel sat across from the boy, with a mug of klah in his hands, watching him, “You’re feeling better right? Jays, I should’ve warned you before we went between sorry about that, lad.”
Belior nodded in response to the rider’s question, “Better now.”
“Good, glad to hear it.” Sh’rel replied with a grin, “There’s no rush but let me know when you’re well enough to go back outside. I’ll be right back.” Sh’rel got up from the table to grab something to eat as he had not had breakfast that morning.
--- Meanwhile, out on the Weyrbowl Sh’ham was still with the Weyrwoman, “Ah, but it will only make me appreciate the beauty more once it’s restored. Sh’rel only had good words for your Weyr and leadership.” The greenrider nodded, “Fort Weyr is well, just very cold at this time of year.” He shucked off his riding jacket as he said this. “And I’m happy to help in any way, Weyrwoman.”
Sh’ham stepped to the side as the vintyr stepped forward to speak. He took this moment to remove his long sleeved shirt, why had he worn this when he knew he was going to the South Continent today? The rider tugged the bottom of his short sleeve shirt down as it had tried to come off with his other shirt. ‘At least I wore layers’ he thought to himself.
His green eyes scanned the Weyr Bowl examining the destruction, when he spotted Tanwen. “Good morning,” he greeted. Glancing around the bowl again he amended his greeting, “Hmm, well, perhaps ‘good’ isn’t the best word for this morning. I’m truly sorry about the hurricane”
--
At this point Sh’rel and Belior appeared back in the Weyr Bowl and made there way over to Sh'ham. The boy looked much better than he did earlier and he took a moment to glance around at his new home.
((Still need to bring Marletta in... I'll do it in the morning it's 2 now))

G'han quickly made his way to the weyr bowl to see some people were already gathering. He really didn't recognize anyone save the weyrwoman herself. But she seemed to be chatting up some of the others already present. No need to cut in on anyone's conversation. He simply neared the weyrwoman without being in the way and waited for what needed to be done.

"Ready to clean your little heart out?" Akki asked Hasima, Rimith and Ebbeth as she pushed her sleeves up and pumped a fist into the air with enthusiasm. Not even the dragons would be spared, everyone had to join in and help clean the Weyr up. Ebbeth lowered his head and softly bumped Akki with the tip of his snout. Make sure you don't touch your mouth after picking things up He warned, he rather not have his rider get sick from who knows what because she wasn't the smartest in basic health safety. She patted the blue lightly, laughing "I promise! I promise, now stop worrying." The blue huffed and pumped his wings, the yellow dragon following shortly after as they too rested on the Weyr ledges, waiting patiently.
She hooked arms with Hasima, pulling the girl in closely as they bumbled over to the group. Both girls wiggled their fingers in a greeting to the people they knew, and wondered who the new people were. And was that a green up there? Was there a new greenrider? Akki was slightly confused but shrugged it off, she would get her answers soon enough she figured. "When we team up, Hasima, we can get anything done right?" She turned her head slightly to look at the yellowrider who nodded in agreement. The introverted girl wondered how long the cleaning would take. Don't get her wrong, she was prepared to work as long as needed but she couldn't help but wonder. By the looks of things, it seemed it would take a while.

Marletta and Issaeyith made their way to the Weyr Bowl ready for the Hurricane Clean-up. She wore an old white shirt and for once she was not wearing a skirt but a pair of gray trousers. Marletta didn’t want to get any of her skirts dirtied up.
What are we going to do today, mine?
Marletta smiled down at Issaeyith, I don’t know what we’re doing exactly but we’re going to help clean. I suppose we have to wait till the Weyrwoman gives us orders. When they arrived there were a couple of people around the Weyrwoman and several others scattered around waiting. She recognized Akki from across the way and weaved her way over to her and the yellowrider. “Hello,” she said with a smile, “Did the Weyrwoman give any orders yet?” she asked nervous that she may have missed something.

Akki looked to the side and grinned as Marletta appeared, "Hey Marletta." She looked down at Issaeyith and waved to the green as a greeting. "Nope, nothing yet. I think she's still waiting for more people to show up." The bluerider guessed, wondering if she should check if anyone was still sleeping. She actually wouldn't be all that surprised to find some of the Weyrling boys still sleeping away in their cots. She nudged Marletta slightly, "Do you know who the new guys is? Or are you just as lost as me?" She was curious to see if anyone knew who the mystery man was.
Hasima smiled at Marletta. "You're not wearing a skirt." Hasima observed quietly, pointing out the obvious. She was older than Marletta and all of the new Weyrlings, but she still felt shy around them. Seniority didn't apply to her, nerves however did. She was not the loud type which was fine with her. Plus, it was hard for people to hate a meeker person so that worked in her advantage. She didn't really want to be hated.

Tanwen looked over to the rider when he gave her a greeting. She didn't recognize him, and from the comments he'd just made she had the guess that he was just a rider from another weyr come to help with the cleanup. Tanwen gave him a nod in reply to his greeting, glancing away once more before he made the additional comment. The girl glanced around the bowl, shrugged and nodded once more, then looked back to the brownrider. "Hurricanes happen," she said stoically. "We're all grateful for the help though." This last comment of hers was said almost as though being polite were painful. She wasn't used to having to interact with people, and she certainly wasn't used to having to be polite to people - not shoved back in a glass craft hall where nobody saw her but her uncle and any other glass workers, anyway. One thing was certainly apparent though, to anyone who had gotten to know her so far; she was at least trying to be nice.
- - -
The next to arrive on the scene was another weyrling; K'ris and his little hawk's eye, Queroth. They each seemed much more rested than they had on the day of the hatching, and though he'd spent most of the previous day sleeping, it seemed to have paid off. He had his usual gate while he walked, and he certainly didn't look like he was about to pass out. The little show he'd had yesterday of just how much of a 'family' he was building at the Weyr was a bit of a confidence boost as well. With Qeuroth now it was official: he had a home here at Dark Moon, and now he had a chance to help it out. Not just as a worker passing through, but as a part of the group living there.
He caught sight of the Weyrwoman speaking to someone he didn't recognize, and so just stepped past her and gave a quick wave as if to say 'here I am, ready to help'. He went over to stand where the other group was beginning to form, standing a bit off to the side. Qeuroth stepped over and sat down beside his rider, looking around at all the people.
Why are we all gathering here again, Mine?
K'ris glanced down at the dragonet, smiled a bit, and then replied. We're here to help start cleaning up this mess. It's not always this crowded with junk and debris, you know. We've gotta make it...eh...respectable looking again, I guess. Respectable? Means something like, people will come here and see this place and not think it's a dump. I dunno, it's supposed to be a good thing. Ohhh, okay.

Marletta smiled back at Akki, “Good, I always feel like I’m running late,” she glanced around realizing that several of her fellow Weyrlings were missing still. The girl began messing with the hem of her shirt but looked up at the bluerider when she nudged her, “There’s a new guy?” Clearly she didn’t need to answer the second part of Akki’s question. Marletta was rather oblivious.
I can ask who he is! Issaeyith said happily allowing the trio of girls to hear.
“No Issaeyith!” Marletta tried to stop Issaeyith from intruding.
Marletta looked over to Hasima when she spoke. She blushed at Hasima's comment, “Yeah, I’m wearing pants, do I really look that awkward? I figured it’d be easier to help clean in them.”
Issaeyith had finished conversing with the new green and reported back happily, again allowing Akki and Hasima to hear as well, She says her name is Kelioth and her rider is Sh’ham. Well that didn’t really answer exactly who he was… it really just named him.
---
Sh’ham could tell the girl really wasn’t in a talking mood; either that or she wasn’t naturally talkative. He simply had to nod when she stated ‘Hurricanes happen,’ “I suppose that’s true,” he glanced around the bowl again. They had storms like this but nothing nearly this bad. “And it is no problem,” he said smiling again, “It is really my pleasure.”
Sh’ham’s eyes unfocused as Kelioth bespoke him. There is a little green that wants to know who we are; she woke me from my nap. she seemed to add the last bit just to complain. Sh’am grinned thankful that Kel had flown several sevendays ago so she was not as testy as she would’ve been. He chuckled to himself; Tanwen must’ve thought him a little crazy. Go ahead let them know he sort of liked being the mystery that someone wanted to find out who he was.

Akki wrapped an arm around Marletta and laughed, "Well at least now I know I'm not the only one out of the loop." She let her arm fall off of the girls shoulder as Issaeyith spoke up. She crouched down on the ground, resting her elbows on her knees as her hands supported her chin. "You're awfully helpful." Akki praised, not a hint of mockery in her voice. Ebbeth would never find out this kind of information for her, but instead tell her to 'Butt out of other peoples business'. He claimed he would say it with love, but it sure was debatable whether or not that was true.
Hasima shook her head at Marletta's question. "You look different." She said with a small smile before blushing when she realized that could be taken negatively. "In a good way." She quickly blurted before anyone got the chance to think that Hasima was insulting Marletta. I don't think you need to worry about that. Rimith crooned from her perch to her rider.
Akki stood up when Issaeyith confirmed who the mystery guests were, making a face as her knees cracked. She brushed the dirt off of her, if there was any even. "Sh'ham and Kelioth eh?". She closed one eye and examined the man. "Whoops, he caught my attention now. He better watch out." She put her arms in front of her, wiggling her arms up and down slightly as her fingers moved as if they were casting a spell. "I'm sending him silent messages." She explained simply. "Teeeeell usssss aaaaall youuuuur seeeecrets." She droned, apparently her silent messages weren't all that silent. She let her hands drop, "Was I being embarassing again? Sorry."

Rhia straightened her shoulder knot as she walked up. Supposedly, Christae had gotten word from another Weyr that an Assistant Candidate Master from another Weyr was transferring and was thinking of taking over the Candidate Master from Rhia. Rhia was more than willing to give up that post because she had enough to worry about as Weyrlingmaster. She simply didn't have enough time to work with both the Candidates and the Weyrlings.
She walked to the Weyr Bowl, running lightly down the stairs from her Weyr instead of making Mneith try to maneuver over the growing crowd of Weyrfolk gathering to receive their assignments from the Weyrwoman. She moved to stand close to her and nodded a greeting. She expected her Weyrlings to be assigned with her watching over them so she kept a look out for them.
There is a new green in the Weyr. She's a pretty one.
Well be polite Mneith.
I will be. He raised his head. Good day to you Kelioth and your rider as well. You are most welcome to Dark Moon. I am Mneith and my rider is WLM Rhia.
Rhia found the new rider and nodded a greeting as she passed. She gave a half-bow to Christae by way of greeting to her and her Queen who was standing nearby. Her eyes roamed and she found the new Hawk's Eye and a green weyrling. The rest of the riders here were either graudated or older riders. She nodded a greeting to G'han. Things had been easier between them since they had hashed things out a few sevendays ago.

Priath was getting annoyed with the fact that her rider was taking a long time to get out of the weyr. The green was getting more and more proddy lately and was as vain as ever.
"I'm coming Priath. Don't get all in a tizzy." Anassa brushed her sun-streaked brown hair into a runner tail and slipped onto the green's back for the short hop down from her weyr.
She dropped down from the dragon when she got close enough and the green winged away. Anassa smiled. Newcomer.
Good. We need more greens.
Anassa strode to join the crowd. Priath had dropped her off away from them so that she didn't stir up dust. She bowed to the Weyrwoman and nodded a greeting to the riders as she passed.

T'ren glanced around the Weyr, still familiarizing himself with the place that was his new home. He had been here for a few days but he hadn't left his weyr much. The loss of nearly all of his fellow riders back at Eteii had really affected the normally jovial young brownrider. Danaeth was still a little off color since they had been deemed well enough to transfer to a new weyr from quarantine. T'ren had been lucky, he had only been struck with a mild case of the plague and had contracted it towards the end of the epidemic, when vaccines were available. Still, his normally lean frame looked almost gaunt. His red hair was even more prominent against his freckled, pale face.
Are you allright mine?
I will be fine. Just dwelling. He gave the brown a quick smile and shook off the melancholy air. His step became jauntier as he walked down from the weyr he had chosen. He almost looked normal, save for his thinness. Only his hazel eyes showed hints of shadows for those who looked closely at the jovial seeming brownrider.
He walked up to the WW and waited until she was finished speaking with the vintyr before presenting himself.
"T'ren, rider of brown Danaeth, formerly of Eteii Weyr," He introduced himself, bowing to Christae. "Thank you for giving my brown and I a new home Weyrwoman. I hope we do not disappoint you. We await your orders." If his smile was slightly less bright than normal, not many would catch it, especially since no one here knew him. He hadn't taken the time to introduce himself to the denizens of his new home. He bowed low after waiting for the Weyrwoman's reply and then moved off, looking around to see the people he would be living and fighting Thread with.

P'rin strode out of the Lower Caverns, finishing off the last bit of his sweet roll. He had already finished his klah and he was ready to start working. He had a thin tunic on with an older pair of wher-hide breeches so that he didn't have to worry about messing them up. His boots were his older pair as well. He was not wearing the new ones that his former Master had sent him in honor of his Graduation nearly a Turn before.
He bowed to the Weyrwoman and nodded a greeting to his former Weyrlingmaster and then looked around to see who was there that he knew. He was slightly disappointed to see that Wolf had not arrived yet but Akki was there. He had seldom talked to the bluerider, and even less to the yelllow rider that had been in the same Weyrling class as he had but he figured that it was easy enough to remedy that.
"Good day to you Akki, and you as well Hasima. I hope this day finds you and your dragons well."
Good day to you Queen. Kilzanth sent his greetings to the Weyr's Queen respectfully.

OOC: Pern has wine skins fyi..not bottles. Christae nodded. "I am glad that this day finds you well and more than grateful for the help Greenrider Sh'ham. Dark Moon thanks you."
Christae smiled warmly. "Welcome to Dark Moon Weyr Candidate Vaelryn." Christae nodded or waved her had at each sign of greeting even as she spoke to the Candidate. "On behalf of Dark Moon, I thank you and your father for your gift. Please give him my regards when you speak to him. I hope you are at home here. I can have a drudge pick up the wineskin so that it is not in your way. I fear we have much work this day."
Christae made sure to either nod or wave her hand in greeting as each rider and Candidate arrived in the Weyr Bowl.
Kaith lifted her head high, sending out a greeting to each of the dragons as they arrived or came onto their ledges.
Christae excused herself from the Candidate as the brownrider walked up. "Allow me to express our regrets at the fate of our sister Weyr Eteii. I wish there was more we could have done. The least we can do is take in some of the survivors. I am so sorry for the loss of your comerads. I hope that you have recovered well. Please don't overdo it today. If you need to rest, let your team leader know and return to the Weyr. I am certain we will be more than pleased with your presence here." Her brown eyes were kind as she spoke to the brownrider. She would mention his fate to Rhia, she remembered that the other brownrider had gone through a similar loss from the plague of her family.
Christae glanced around, pleased at the growing numbers in front of her but she knew that not everyone was there yet. She would wait a few minutes longer before she started assigning duties.

A clean up Mine, with the whole Weyr helping! Oh, how everyone will be needed, Serinth crooned to her rider. Yes, I’m almost at the Weyrbowl now, please inform Kaith so that she can let Christae know, wait, no need! Wolf shouted out to her bonded, coming into the Weyrbowl just as she’d finished speaking. There wasn’t too many there yet, but it was starting to fill-up, which was a nice thing to see. Make up your mind, would you, Serinth teased, bugling to announce to Kaith and Christae both that her rider was now here. “Unnecessary Serinth,” Wolf pleaded, her lips forming a frown of displeasure. She hated to be the center of attention, period. Serinth seemed to always feel as if Wolf’s presence needed to be announced, likely for her own reasons, not to mention the smidgens of pride she likely had swelling inside that body of hers.
“Christae!” Wolf called out, waving an arm up above her head to be seen from a few dragonlengths away. Sooner than later she was standing beside the Senior Weyrwoman, a warm smile on her face. She respected the Weyrwoman very much, and not just because of the history they shared, but too because she did her job more efficiently than anyone she knew on Pern. “So then, everyone’s getting started are they? I must say, I’m looking forward to having things prettied up again.” As am I! Oh boy, oh boy. Wolf snickered, resting a couple fingers against her lips, taking them away to say: “Serinth agrees.”
She scouted the area to see what groups were forming to take on which duties. From afar she spotted a Greenrider that she didn’t recognize. She’d been paying a lot of attention to who came and went lately, having done well to familiarize herself with all those in the Weyr. As Jr. Weyrwoman she figured it was in the job description to do so, not only that but she sincerely cared about everyone, it was just her persona to care. “Please greet the newcomer for me Serinth,” she asked of her dragon, wanting Christae to hear her request also. Hello there my fellow dragon, I’m Gold Serinth and my rider is Jr. Weyrwoman Wolf. She greets you and yours, as do I. “Leave it up to Serinth to get things done efficiently,” Wolf said affectionately, resting a hand on her hip. Kilzanth! I hope that you and yours are faring well on this fine day? Wolf heard Serinth’s greeting and smiled to herself, head down as if it was some sort of secret. P’rin’s face became clear amongst the crowd, and she called out, waving an arm up over her head like before. “Hey P’rin! Akki, Hasima, Marletta!” She called off the names of the others she noticed near him. Mine greets yours; I thought I’d say so in case he isn’t able to hear her, she added to Kilzanth.
Wolf looked back to Christae, ready to get her hands dirty, literally.

The dust in the Weyrbowl stirred up as another dragon came in for a landing. It certainly seemed that newcomers were picking a great time to arrive at, just in time to help out with whatever had taken the Weyr by storm. The large green had made a note of being fancy, back winging artfully before her claws clattered against the stone. Her hide shimmered, the sun reflecting off her blue-green body, making one have to take a second glance to really make sure that she was, in fact, a green. She was used to roping people in with what she called her “magnificence.” Really, humble wasn’t her style. She raised her wedge-shaped head, bugling out to all the dragons in the surrounding area. A greeting? Perhaps. More like a simple: “I’m here, all hail the glory that is me.” Now that she knew no one would have missed her entrance, she spoke privately to Hers: All know that we’re here now, surely. Way to make a perfect arrival, wouldn’t you agree?
A young woman in her middle 20’s sat upon the neck of this talkative dragon, a smirk tugging at the corner of her lips, the light catching the hazel tones of her eyes. She gave the green’s neck an affectionate slap, turning to look behind her at her struggling passenger. The young man had his arms wrapped tightly around her waist, clinging to her for dear life. She laughed softly, turning to place a hand on the side of his face. “It’s okay Seth, you can let go now; we’ve landed.” The boy seemed to barely catch onto her words, and was it not that she knew him; she’d suspect some other reason for his closeness. He nodded his head obediently, giving her a small smile of appreciation. “I’m sorry; really, I just didn’t know that, you know, they went that fast. This is my first time and--,” he was cut short by the greenrider’s encouraging words. “We’ve all been there.” She cast him a wink before swinging down from her dragon professionally. The boy undid his straps all by himself under the woman’s watchful eye. As the 13-year-old boy struggled to make it down the side of the dragon the greenrider hooked him around the waist as he came down at a rapid rate, helping him to his feet. He turned around to gaze up at her, his grin stretching from ear to ear, clearly thankful. “You’re all right kid,” she smiled, ruffling the boy’s hair before taking his shoulders from behind and pushing him off into the crowd. “Now get, you hear? Find the Candidate Master,” she laughed. Not only would he be of help to her by finding whoever the Candidate Master was around here, but too he needed to report-in to him/her as an official Candidate for the next hatching. “Come back here once you find her!” she hollered out, her hands cupped around her mouth so her voice would carry over the chitchat of the people around her. She rested a hand on her hip, her other arm dangling at her side as she scanned the people running to and from the Weyrbowl. Something was up, time to find out exactly what.
She turned back to Rasth, resting a hand against the dragons hide. “You’ve done well; you got us here, that’s all I asked for. How about a rest, huh? Go and introduce yourself to the others, mention that we’re here.” The woman looked skywards, shielding her eyes from the light of Rukbat, looking up to the heights to try and spot which dragons were up there. If she could glimpse gold then that’d be Rasth’s best chance of whom to talk to. She pushed her hair back out of her eyes, picking a random stranger. A man seemed to be standing somewhat apart from all the talk going on between the separate cliques.
“Hey,” she called out, realizing it was too quiet for him to here, waiting until she was in earshot of him to say it again, “hey.” She turned her head to a slight tilt, arms crossing over her chest. “I could use some help,” she told him, smirking as she waited for a return greeting, loosely biting her lip while she ever so slightly swayed her tanned form back and forth. Her curly brown locks hung over her shoulders, a slight burn standing out over her small nose, and cheeks. She squinted one eye closed a bit, the angle that Rukbat’s rays were coming at her from squared the light right into her eyes, it seeming to having something against her today. The man was known to those at Dark Moon as G’han, but to her he was just a possible dragonrider, a new face.

Meanwhile, the boy that had been helped down from the greenrider’s beast pushed through the crowd happily. He leaped into the air excitedly, crying out with glee. “Looking for the Candidate Master, anyone seen the Candidate Master?” he hollered out over the crowd. His blue eyes turned on each individual; each new face making him feel smaller and smaller once he sighted that he was the only one of his age group here. The rest appeared to be in their late teens, and he envied them, wishing he was older. Of course being a young boy had its advantages, and he liked being babied sometimes. He knew he’d love the treatment even more in a place like this. Being a Candidate is serious, he told himself. And I finally did it, I made it here, I’m a... I’m a Candidate. He had never felt more free.
