Ocean's Tide had not been claimed by a dance partner yet. She accepted a goblet of wine from a passing drudge and sipped it, from her position by an empty table. She considered sitting but she didn't want to sit before she had a chance to dance, if any wished to dance with her. She had noticed that there were a couple of unattached males wandering around but she would not be so bold tonight as to approach them. Maybe after her glass of wine she would approach if she had not been claimed already. Her costume winked in the light of the candelabra behind her.

The Green Dragon let out a soft, almost silent, laugh. "How do you know I won't break your heart and run off with someone else now?" She said, a teasing tone in her voice. "I think they're more jealous as to who I got picked by. I think I saw a few ladies eyeing you beforehand." Thankfully green dragons were the flirty kinds, she could be however she wanted without giving too much of her identity away.
"But I'm okay with being decieved, see the difference?" She answered with a question. "You're just one for the mystery aren't you?" She said with a small smile. She blushed as Canine kissed her cheek. "Now, how are you sure you won't regret that in the morning?" The masks were making people bolder than usual and she had to wonder what drama would occur when the masks had come off.

"Ah, well I would-" The Traveler cut off in his speech as he stood, settling his clothed feet on the polished floor after another slip. "That is, I would offer to lead even without knowing how to," you know, since he was for sure a guy, and all. "But I guess with the floor the way it is," he looked down to his feet and then back up once more, rolling his shoulders in a shrug. Was he smiling? Maybe. Probably, but the cloth over his face wasn't saying so.
"Well, with the floor this slippery and my feet sliding around like they are, you'll probably just end up dragging me along more than anything." He offered his hand anyway. "Might be fun anyway, though, hm?"

The Wher answered without hesitation, holding her in close as she allowed them to touch, ever the gentleman, trying to not over think the heat that radiated between their bodies as he replied, "tonight you are my prize, and I am assured that any man who is fortunate enough to have you will think the same. You have given me the honor of dancing with me tonight, and I still say you are a lovely woman and I will still think you a prize, no matter what you unveil upon removing your mask, my lady."
He would not have been a male if he didn't feel a warm chill when she whispered into his ear, and would not have been a gentleman if he did not remember who and where he was. It was so easy to forget, in a magical environment such as this, and so, "you honor me, golden beauty. Even though it may just be for tonight, be assured that tonight you are the finest prize here, for you are a wonderful dancer, and an interesting and beautiful woman both." Beneath the mask of the Wher he smiled down at her, holding her close enough that if she chose she could rest her head on his shoulder. It would be rude of him to put any more emboldened moves on her, and when they were unmasked he knew he would still think her as he'd said, no matter if it was just for one night or no.

The Gate Keeper, having finished his wine, lifted his head as if to look across the room despite being blindfolded. He seemed to notice a girl still standing off on her own, and - choosing to leave his staff behind this time, by the wall - he stepped over towards her.
"You seem a bit on the lonely side," he said to Oceans Tide. "I can't promise anything lasting, but would you maybe like to dance?"

It was then that the Fallen Contrast noted the Ocean's Tide, and thought to himself that she looked lovely indeed. It was all or nothing, and she would be the 'all', as his first bold move of the night. So, he walked up to her with the confidence that the mask allowed him, looking almost beautiful in an eerie sort of way due to the contrasting black and white with the wings and all. He bowed to her, eyes not leaving her face, wanting very much to at least do this properly.
"My lady," he said, a voice that was unusually soft, like velvet, "would you allow me a dance?" He was nervous, even if it didn't show on the outside. He couldn't recall dancing with a girl before, though he wasn't altogether sure if he had or had not, at one point. Still, he, too, had practiced, and he would see it put to use, even if he was not so grand as some others here tonight.

"My heart is hard to break", he replied simply, but with a smile. He lifted his head, removing his cheek from hers only to look about the room. He then leaned his head against her yet again cheek to cheek. "I only saw the many guys eying my choice of a dance partner. I think that kiss even sparked some jealousy", he smirked as he answered her.
"I may or may not like my women mysterious. I won't deny or confirm anything", he said as they dipped yet again. "Whatever is done tonight, there will be no regrets. I can assure you of that my lovely green dragon", he spoke with bold words that even he believed, at the very least he wanted to believe it. "Who's to say my next kiss won't grace your lips? The night is still young", he whispered to her again, his lips perhaps tickling her ear.

The Pirate had a point, The Lake had to agree with him there. Life would be pretty boring if no one took any chances. "Take it slow? I was just wondering if you were even close to being ready to handle what I got." The Lake replied with a tinkling laugh. "Seductive? Me? Of course not. I'm just talking, dear boy, it's you who is interpreting it in a rather...teasing nature." She pointed out. Of course her costume said otherwise, with its lowcut neckline. The boy was easy to tease, and it seemed he had no problem to tease her back. "Are you sure you can even handle me?" She shotback with a grin. If he was willing to dish out the lines tonight, she could too.
"And you're going to assume that I'm innocent?" She scoffed as she listened to what the game is about. "If you lose, you won't be getting a consolation prize. If you did, it's not really losing at all." She paused before adding a wink, "Besides. I'm the Lake. I can just wash you down if you get to dirty."

"Keep this up, and I may not give any other man a chance to consider me his prize", the gold dragon responded to him. A prize, that's what she wanted to feel like. She wanted to know she was something worth obtaining.
"You do well. A woman needs to know she's worth obtaining", she spoke up, mirroring her previous thoughts. With grace, she closed the gap and lay her head on his shoulder. "Bold, but it is obvious you're a gentleman. I'd hate to think I'm in the arms of someone who'd take advantage of me. A woman needs to trust", she whispered up into his ear.

"Ah, but then drag one shall! One does not mind, since one does not think you would be too hard to drag, if you do not mind one being so bold. Those clothed feet of yours shall slide and glide like a fish through the water, one thinks!" With that, the Hatter took the Traveler's hand, and led him straight into a very elaborate dance. "You do not mind twirls?" The Hatter asked, grinning from ear to ear, as they admitted gaily, "one does love the twirls!"
And the Hatter did, demonstrating it by giving the Traveler a light whirl on the floor, flourishing the moves greatly and dancing as though they were indeed a butterfly fluttering across the floor. Would the Traveler be able to keep up, slippery though the floor was? Well, the Hatter would certainly make sure he did!

Skybroom smiled." You are indeed from Heaven, if such a place exists. I believe it was a Terran myth?"
He gently swung her into position, putting a hand on her waist and placing her hand on his shoulder. He took her free hand and began the dance. "I have traveled far and wide dear Heaven's Cloud. I am sure such a beauty as you could not hurt me, save only if you break my heart by denying me a dance when the unmasking is over."
He noticed her shaking and pulled her closer." Just follow me. A cloud is light, relax, breathe. Never fear dear lady for I will not lead you astray."

Brown Dragonet smiled. "You flatter me Night." She lowered her eyes demurely. Oh she was a study in contrasts, this Brown Dragonet. One minute she seemed regal and somewhat haughty, and the next she was the picture of maidently shyness. "Your costume is most appealing. Where did you get such an idea?"

The Traveler's eyes widened a bit when his hand was taken quite suddenly and he was pulled across the floor. Just as he'd guessed, his feet gave no resistance against it. Why did the drudges have to go and polish up the floor so nicely tonight? Oh, why couldn't have have just had REAL shoes that were white? Figures he'd have picked tonight to care about the color of his shoes. Still, though, he could feel the fabric on his face moving against his smile at the Mad Hatter's antics. If nothing else, this was certainly fun!
"Twirls?" he repeated, scrambling a bit with his feet on the first one in an attempt to keep his balance. "They're, ah..." he muttered, trying to concentrate on talking and manning his feet at the same time. "They're not so bad, actually." That was about when he figured out to lean away from the Hatter during the twirls, keeping his grip tight in the other one's hand as the taller dancer led them across the floor. The Traveler gave a laugh. "Well maybe it was a good thing I didn't wear real shoes!" he said. "I sure can't dance, but it doesn't seem to matter right now."

The Silent Warrior contemplated whether or not the Shadow was a greenrider, or had a green. It was interesting to contemplate who was who, but there were a few greenriders and Weyrlings in the Weyr. Still, it made the Silent Warrior smile, and they replied, “I did wonder that, though I have my own speculations, if you would be interested in hearing them? I won’t say they are correct, but at least you should know I have given it some thought!” They looked again at the beads, and then commented, “I would imagine that would be the way of it, fitting the smallest ones on being the hardest. Still-the end result is rewarding, I think? They look well done, and the smallest ones are indeed the most intricate.” They picked up the dance pace a tad as the song continued, and then the Silent Warrior admitted, “I’m trying to guess who is who here, but I must say it hasn’t been made easy! I guess if we dance with a few here tonight we might guess one or two.”

“Oh, my lovely girl, I can tell you for definite that I can handle you. I want to handle you,” he said, muttering the last part half under his breath before faking a throat clearage. Like he hadn’t noticed her shirt, he was a boy who appreciated a good view. “I love to interpret, since most of the time people don’t really mean all that they say. Hidden meanings are my forte. And yes, I’m positive I can handle. Just give me the opportunity and I swear I’ll take it. Unless that was an invitation?” he asked, his curiosity peeked.
“Oh, now, now, don’t be hasty! I never said anything about you being innocent; I doubt we’d be in this compromising situation if that was the case love. Mm, yes, that is true, you’re quite feisty. I like a girl with an attitude; it gives me something to work with.” He moved his face closer to hers, either to tease or being quite real about it, it was hard to tell. His gaze lingered on her lips, and then flickered to her eyes, wondering if perhaps he’d seen her before. She was perfect, she was his match, and how could he have missed her? Was she taking the opportunity to be a different person tonight, to create a different identity along with her costume? He really hoped not, because it would be one heck of a waste to have this goddess be a fake.

Ocean's Tide looked to either side of her, startled as the invitation to dance came from two different directions. She honestly couldn't say which one had asked her first.
"Gentlemen, I am honored, but I cannot honestly say which of you asked me first. I do not know how to settle this delimma without undue rudeness on my part." She reached up to adjust her mask, checking to make sure it was secure, even though she knew it was. She sipped her wine, waiting to see what The Gatekeeper and Fallen Contrast would do.

The Flowering Vines had never danced like this with someone before. She'd never had someone's attentions on her this way, and she was surprised to find that she liked this feeling of being wanted-something she'd never felt like this before. She found that she actually wanted to trust what the Rogue was saying, and that she indeed did. Of all the people on the floor tonight, he wanted to keep dancing with her.
Her cheeks were pretty when they were crimson, a pale pink against a paler white complexion. She nodded and then told him quietly, "I won't leave, Rogue...I don't need to dance with anyone else tonight-you were the right choice from the very start," she told him, daring a shy smile up at him as she allowed him to lead her in his dance. She laughed lightly at his antics, at least knowing that males liked very much to show off-and he had reason to! He was a charismatic and charming dance partner who made her feel at ease while making her breath catch in her throat all at once. It was an elating feeling that she would have liked to last forever, and it saddened her a little that once the masks were off, it might all be over. Still, she wanted very much to see who it was behind the mask-very much.

Heaven’s Cloud beamed, unable to help herself. Why did she have to have these stirred-up feelings, she always permitted her fun to be mixed with her emotions. How frustrating, though he was managing to make her feel the complete opposite of frustration at this point. “Yes, I believe so. I know quite a bit about Terran myths,” Heaven’s Cloud explained to him. “My mother was quite intrigued by them actually.” She looked off to the side, not wanting to bore him with her family history. Weren’t parents not exactly the safest of subjects for a first date, if these could ever even be considered anything like a date? “Where have you traveled from, if you’d like to tell me?” she asked, wondering just how much he willed to stay concealed. This was the perfect opportunity for those that were not so good with the opposite sex, like her, to get out there and not feel barred by shyness.
“Break your heart? I’ve never been close enough to anyone’s heart to break it,” she told him, her smile faltering. She stared down at the ground. Why had she had to go and say that? She didn’t want to be his pity case. “Not that it matters.” She shrugged it off. When he told her to follow him, and made mention of not leading her astray, she gave a tiny nod. “Okay... I trust you... To lead this dance that is.” She chuckled, hoping he didn’t think she was a bore already. “I’m not very good at conversing with guys, I fail, terribly.” There she went again, with her complete honesty. Her and her run away mouth... She was too nervous to look at him while dancing, her hand remaining light upon his shoulder. There was something about being so close to a man, any man, that caused her to quake with even the slightest bit of fear. She bet he could tell, and it probably wasn’t helping any.

The Gate Keeper inclined his head towards the other man when he came over, turning back to the lady whens he spoke up, and then offering a smile between the two. "Well, I suppose that would depend on what the lady hopes to get out of this." He took a step back so as not to seem imposing, seemingly looking in a blank direction behind his blindfold. "I'm only looking for a dance partner, as I'm not from around here and will likely cease to be seen after tonight. If the lady is hoping for a lasting relationship to come from such unusual circumstances? Maybe it would be better off that she danced with someone else."

The Rogue smiled kindly. "To hear you utter those words does bring joy to my heart. I am blessed with such a beautiful flower. To call you my own is beyond what any man should expect", his words as though he were apart of some play, but altogether convincing they were solely his alone.
"Now that I dare think my precious flower will not leave me, perhaps the night will grow bolder. This one only wonders what gifts the lady may bare this evening and what I may, in turn, present to such a prize as yourself", the words were laced sweetly and he presented them kindly to her. "Couples near grow closer. Dare we repeat their performance, yet make it all our own?", he questioned her, asking for more of her. Another bold action, he stepped in closer and only wondered how much closer she'd allow them to be. Perchance they embrace further? Their bodies touch, exchange warmth?
