The Shadow's mouth curved up into the hint of a smile at the corner once more, and she inclined her head as she followed the Silent Warrior through the dance. "The small beads certainly are intricate," she agreed with him, flicking her head slightly to send more hair out of her eyes, and it sent the beads clicking once more as well. "You should see how they're made; more difficult than you'd think, blowing glass to be that small."
She followed through the steps some more. "As for my outfit," The Shadow went on. "The white for light, it seems a bit needed for a shadow, don't you think? I'm not really one to try and get attention or whatever, so I thought it fit." Her mouth twitched at the edge in what seemed to be her version of a smile, and perhaps under the mask she was inclining an eyebrow. "After all, a shadow can't hide without any light around. If there's no light, there's all shadows. And rather than hide, that would just be blending in. Too easy. A shadow hiding in the light? Now that's talent." She shrugged a bit, letting her mouth fall back into a more neutral position. "Or, you know. That was my idea."

"Girls deserve to be flattered." Night replied with a large grin. "Especially a girl like you." He added. He was more then willing to dish out the compliments, he always had one ready. "This old thing?" He asked, motioning towards his outfit. "I got it when I was laying on my back outside and the day was turning to night. You have not experienced life until you watch stars slowly fade into existence, my dear." He led her towards the dance floor before eyeing her costume once more. "And where did you get your idea? It's quite a lovely one, I'm impressed." He grinned crookedly, "It's quite flattering on you."

The Dolphin realized that she was flustering her dance partner. She laughed her lilting laugh again. "I do believe I have you off balance my dear Fire Hawk. Surely such a little thing as I do not intimidate you?" She gave an exaggerated wink because she knew it would not be easy to see with her mask.
"Oh nonsense, I am sure that you will be a fine dancer. How else could you be? We are both creatures who dance in our elements as beautifully as any trained dancer." She let him take the lead in their path to the dance floor but she stood ready to lead him in the dance steps she knew so well if need be.

"How do you know you're not getting yourself into deep trouble now? I could have a big, buff and jealous Weyrmate. He could be watching this entire thing." Green Dragon said, raising an eyebrow at Canine. He was a bold one all right, which was fine with her. "Or better yet, how do I know you don't have a Weyrmate? A really jealous girl could be after my blood now."
"Now you're being mysterious, and I may not like my men mysterious." She laughed. "Guess you will just have to find out for yourself." She blushed again at his last comment, not having much answer for that one. She reached up and kissed him instead before putting her hand on his lips, "Now that's the only one you'll be getting from me."

"Ah, and there you have the light of it, my Twirling Traveler! You do not mind if one has besotted you with such a nickname? One thinks it does suit you, the way you twirl about with such twirlyness!" The Hatter then took up his butterflies mask in one hand and the Traveler's hand in the other, and swung the Traveler outward so that the shorter dance partner was spun in a wide loop all the way around. "Once, and twice, and once more!"
The Hatter was laughing, albeit almost giggling with glee, as the Traveler was swung around and around, until suddenly the Hatter pulled him back in, twirled him and resumed dancing and stopped laughing abruptly, "One does think you make a fantastical partner, Twirling Traveler! One is not sure you did not jest when you spoke of wearing those superb shoes in assumption of the accidental!"
The Hatters eyes were still twinkling, though the Traveler might have been a bit dizzy from all that twirling they didn't let it show. It might have been hard to dance in such boots, as well, but the Hatter seemed not to note this, either, as the Hatter was enjoying itself immensely!

Fire Hawk smiled brightly as The Dolphin gave her laugh once more. He found himself enjoying that sound a bit more than he'd expected himself to. Perhaps this flirting thing wasn't quite as frightening as he'd always thought it was? "Just a bit, lady," he admitted. "And it's not you that intimidates me, so much as it is the thought of speaking to anyone quite as lovely." And there his mouth went again, spouting off words that he never imagined himself speaking. Where was all this coming from? Maybe he'd been hanging around the other males his age a bit too much lately - but then, if he was enjoying this so much, was that really a bad thing?
Fire Hawk smiled once more at the compliment. "I think I can find my way well enough," he said, and continued to lead her. There were a few moments where he had to look down at his feet every so often, and there would likely be moments when she could help him find the place again. "I learned when I was younger, you see," he said, smiling up to her once more. "It's just, there isn't much time to dance when you're on a farm."

The Fallen Contrast looked from the lady to the other man, and then shrugged. "It's not about what our intentions are, it's about what you want our intentions to be. It's your night, and you may pick who you will. I would be lying if I said I hadn't hoped your choice would be me, but I would be imposing to force myself on you when he asked first." He glanced at the other man, and then, "I can only promise to be as worthy as I can and I doubt anyone came here looking for a relationship insomuch as a chance to enjoy themselves. Still, I can't promise I might not get taken with you and want to pursue you further in the future," he said honestly, a slight smile upturning the corner of her mouth.
"So you make the choice-there is all night and the entirety of it is yours." He bowed to her again, then stood straight, his wings rustling softly as he did so.

The canine gave a cocky smirk. "I assure you, I'm quite capable of defending myself", the canine's answer was arrogant, but it certainly meant he wanted to keep his prize. "Would it ease your mind if I said you don't need to worry about any jealous girls on my end?", he asked her, trying to find what would comfort his partner.
The canine had another response, but it was cut short by the kiss the green dragon gave him. He closed his eyes, starting to enjoy and get into the kiss before she broke it off. "My lovely green dragon, you only leave more to be desired now", the canine tried to sound cool, but it was obvious her bold actions caught him completely off guard. "Please do not be so cruel as to make that an absolute", he said with a wink as he continued their dance.

A girl quickly made her way to the Herald, hands grasping her dress to help keep her from tripping over it.
“You are a bit late m’dear,” he eyed the girl’s costume before asking, “What is your name?”
The young woman almost slipped and spoke her real name, “oh, The Dawn Sisters.”
“Very well,” he said to her before announcing, “May I present… The Dawn Sisters.”
The young woman bowed her head in thanks to the Herald before entering the room. Her dress was sleeveless, and bound tight around her chest. The material clung close to her waist before flaring out at her hips. The entire thing was a light silvery color with beads sewed on in the shape of small stars on the lower half of the dress. Her mask covered the upper half of her face. The mask was black with silver beads used, once again, to create the shape of stars this time just two around her eyes. The girl's hair had been curled and fell in ringlets down her back, a few pins keeping them out of her face.
The Dawn Sisters carefully strode across the room gazing at the others’ costumes before making her way to the side to watch the others dance she needed a bit to rest before running all the way here. For now she was happy to watch but once she was rested she really wanted to join them out on the floor, but with whom?

The Traveler's eyes smiled a bit behind his mask, as it was probably easier to see a smile in his eyes at this point, with the cloth still covering his face. "Well I have traveled a lot in my life," he replied to the question about giving him a nickname. The youth squinted an eye shut. "And right now, I am doing a lot of twirling. So I guess the nickname fits."
He tightened his grip on the Mad Hatter's hand when the other turned him in a wide loop around three times in a row, and his eyes widened in surprise once more. He almost scrambled for balance, but stopped himself just before the second loop and instead continued to lean away from the Hatter and just make sure his feet were still beneath him. The Traveler let out a small "geh!" in surprise when he was suddenly pulled back in towards the Hatter, blinking a few times as the other one spoke, and then looking back over.
"Not accidental, no," he replied, his voice still light enough to show he was having a great time. "I just didn't think it through - cloth on a slick floor. Now that I look back, it probably wasn't the best idea. I'm not exactly the most graceful person on Pern." The Traveler squinted his eyes a bit, shutting one completely again and giving a short laugh. "I didn't know you could make multiples of yourself!" He was of course joking, because with the way he'd been spinning and still was spinning, it looked like there were about three Mad Hatters now.

Feral Feline led her through the crowd on the ballroom floor. "Of course I'll do Lady Seraphim. Why ever would you think that I would not?" His voice was almost a low growl as he pulled her close. "I hope you dance, for I will not be made a fool of." The smirk on his face told his partner he was joking.
"Your costume is most unusual. I am not as familiar with Terran myths as some. I spent most of my time working instead of having my head off in the clouds. Please explain your costume my lady." He was gruff but his dark eyes were appreciative as he looked over her costume once again. Her swung her into the intricate steps of the dance the Harpers had just struck up, and it was obvious that he had some skill.

The Dolphin smiled. "Once again, you flatter me shamelessly! Are you certain that it is you who should be intimidated by my appearance? I would have to say that if I were less sure of myself, I would be intimidated by you!"
She edged him slightly to the side so that they wouldn't bump into the next couple as the dance swept everyone into a turn. "Oh! I have a clue then, you were raised on a farm! Dancing and ettiquette were part of my upbringing." She laughed again, knowing that her clue wasn't very clear at all. She could have been some Lord Holder's daughter, or even a minor holder's daughter that had been indulgent and taught her dancing. Perhaps he wanted a better marriage for her than her station. Or perhaps she wasn't that at all.

Fire Hawk reddened once more at the compliment and gave a shy smile; he wasn't really used to getting complimented by anyone other than his parents, and it was their job to tell him such things. "I'm nothing special," he countered her words. "Honestly, the only reason I had the courage to ask you to dance was the hidden-identity aspect of tonight."
He blinked at her next comment, then smiled and gave a small shrug. "I didn't even realize I was giving a clue until you mentioned it, but I guess you have one." He followed her willingly enough when she edged them into a different spot, doing his best then to take the lead once more as the dance would have it. "Part of your upbringing?" he said. "Why, that could mean just about anything." Fire Hawk gave a small laugh. "It seems I'll have to be more careful with what I say if you're going to be so mysterious with your words."

Brown Dragonet smiled sweetly beneath her mask. "Indeed, it is beautiful when dusk darkens to night and the stars begin to wink." She thought for a moment before responding to his question about her costume and his compliment.
"I loved the way flitts look as they are flying in the air, so graceful and carefree. The way the sunlight glistens on their soft hides is beautiful. Dragons are gorgeous creatures, but fire lizards are available for everyone, well almost everyone. I always loved the way browns looked and when I chose my color I did not care that browns are usually male."
"You are very kind. And I must say that your colors look good on you as well."

The Night nodded during Brown Dragonet's explanation, he was in total agreement. "Fire lizards are gorgeous creatures, but more people have a shot at getting them." A grin appeared on his face, "Well, it's a shame that more browns don't look the way you do.". He looked down at his outfit and gave a laugh, "If I was more creative, I probably would have picked something more colorful and entertaining. I'm afraid that I'm not exactly the most creative person though, I'm willing to admit this."
"So am I allowed to ask whether or not you have a brown flitt then? Or would that give away who is under the mask?" He questioned curiously. He wanted to know who was under the mask but had the feeling he wouldn't be able to find out until the part of the night came when everyone went to reveal themselves.

“The Sun!”
Another man entered the Masquerade, smiling as the Herald announced him. His costume was very colorful and he would easily stand out on the dance floor, if he made it there, it seemed like many of the young ladies had already been claimed. The man’s dress tunic was a bright orange color (#F88017) dyed clearly for the occasion for no one would wear a color like that around on a normal day. A yellow gold sash was tied around his waist a stark contrast to the red trousers he wore (#C11B17); they were a darker red but once again clearly made for the occasion. His boots looked like worn riders boots but these too had been dyed, to match his tunic specifically. Upon his face he wore a mask that covered the top portion of his face. It was a semi-circular yellow mask, the color matching his sash, with rays curling off the curved upper part of the mask. The man had chosen to spike his light brown hair up to mimic the rays, the tips of his hair had been dyed a red color with some sort of agent.
He stepped to the side and gladly accepted a glass of water from on the Drudges while he took a moment to take in the spectacle and try to spot an unaccompanied lady or a break in the music to ask one of the ones dancing already if she would like to dance with him instead.

"I sure hope so, my possible jealous Werymate could be coming over here right now." The Green dragon replied, a sly smile playing on her lips. "How do I know you're not just saying that? You could be out charming as many girls as you possibly can before your girl can figure it out." She said with a soft laugh, picturing the Canine playing this game.
Another blush reached her face and she was glad that the mask was covering it. "Isn't that what green dragons do? Come now Canine, surely you know what I mean. They're flirtatious creatures." She followed his dance steps once again, mirroring his every move, "Like I said, that's all you'll get out of me tonight."

The canine frowned a bit. "You and you alone I've been with tonight. As far as I'm concerned, you're the only girl I wish to be with tonight", he whispered in her ear yet again. But as an afterthought he added, "Let him come. If he bests me, then I'm not worthy of my lovely green dragon". Words meant to praise his partner. Though he doubted it, the thought of the green dragon having a weyrmate did cross his mind. But to be honest, at this moment, he wanted to doubt it more than think of that possibility.
"You say that, but we'll see what tonight holds", he spoke, wanting to refuse the thought, "and the nights after". Adding the last bit was like a counter to her words. She did only say tonight, so why not push beyond this night?

Ocean's Tide smiled. "I have a compromise. I will dance with both of you and then I will be free for another partner to claim me. Since you will only be here for one night, I will dance with you first Gatekeeper."
"Fallen Contrast, if you are still interested in a dance with me I will await you on the edge of the dance flloor." She gestured to a location with her hand, the sapphire winking in the light.

"It wasn't an invitation." The Lake laughed before falling silent for a moment, "But maybe if you are fortunate enough, it can turn into an invitation later on this night. She'd noticed his wandering eyes, but it was her fault really. She'd chose to wear a more...revealing dress, it was supposed to be a night for surprises after all. A coy grin appeared on her, starting off small but growing with every second. "Prove that you can handle me. Afterall, you were sitting here all alone before I talked to you. You could be inexperienced." Like she was one to talk, however the way she was acting now said otherwise.
"I have alot of attitude." The Lake warned the Pirate, her voice turning into a whisper as she said this. She locked eyes with him for a moment before turning away once again. She was still unable to recognize who was underneath the mask, and she felt bad for him that he was falling for her web of words. Or at least she thought he was, maybe she was falling for his web of words? It was all very confusing to say the least. "Now, are we going to sit here all night or are we going to dance?"
