The Lake laughed loudly when she heard The Pirate whine, he appeared to be having a mid life crisis of sorts. She put down her cup of klah and turned her head to where the Pirate was sitting. "You should at least say please. Girls like a little charm here and there, don't you know." She had been sitting behind for the masquerade so far, being entertained at everything that was happening. It was easy to get lost in the costumes everyone was wearing. She was getting lost too, until the Pirate's loud voice caught her attention.

Fire Hawk blinked at the comment from the dolphin, and his mouth turned up into a smile at her words. "I do not see why they would. My, I knew the dolphins were smart, but so philosophical?" Now he really was surprising himself. Honestly, Fire Hawk had no idea he could be charming at all. Polite? Oh of course, but charming? Well, it seemed he was learning something new.
The youth smiled once more when she accepted his offer, his face turning a bit of a reddened color at her compliment about his being a handsome man. "You honor me, Lady Dolphin. With your compliments and your beauty." What? Did he...did those words really come out of his mouth? Fire Hawk cleared his throat for a moment, ducking his head as he did so in a gesture that may have revealed the bit of awkwardness he was feeling, and then looked over to the girl once more. He offered her his hand, and turned as if to indicate he would be willing to lead her out to the dance floor. "By your leige, Lady Dolphin."

She nodded, feeling most certain that at least if she couldn’t dance; he’d make up for her lack of skill. “Thank you,” she said her voice barely above that of a whisper. "And my identity, for now, is Heaven's Cloud..." It only made her want to know who he was all the more, perhaps by the end of the night? What if she was disappointed with his identity, what then? She had to remind herself that this was just for fun, so that’s what she should be doing, having fun. “You have such faith in me, where have you been all my life,” she teased. She realized there was some truth to her words, even so. “I’ll try to do my best, but I can guarantee that you may come out of this with some minor injuries.” Again, she was teasing, all part of her harmless fun.
She permitted him to lead her out on to the dance floor, the entire time she could feel herself shaking like a seizure case. She was her worst enemy at this point. Oh how she should’ve taken more interest in dance as a child, when she’d had the chance. Now she was a lost cause, seeing as she’d never trained a day in her life when it came to the movement of her feet. Not everyone could be talented.

The Gate Keeper hadn't really mingled with many yet, and was instead making his way calmly through the crowd. His eyes were still blindfolded by his version of a mask, but it didn't seem to hinder his movements. One might guess he was using his staff to navigate, or perhaps he was simply moving around by sound. He didn't really know many people in this place, with or without the masks, and so he was choosing to meander a bit before finding someone to talk to. Or perhaps someone would speak to him first. Instead, he made his way over to the table of food, taking up a glass of wine with his free hand and continuing on his slow stroll.

The Night grinned at the Brown Dragonet, offering his arm out to her. "I'm glad. It was breaking my heart to see such a pretty girl standing here alone." He admitted, eyes behind his mask twinkling along with the stars on his costume. "I'm glad no one got to you first though, I think it would break my heart even more to see you with another guy." He laughed as he admired the girls costume. It was intricately done, details were paid attention too. "It's a shame that brown dragons aren't more like you." He said with a sly smile, casting a wink her way though it was blocked by the mask he wore.

The Flowering Vines turned crimson beneath her emerald mask, and since her cheeks showed she knew that the blush could be seen. However, she said quietly, "thank you...you're a very good dancer."
She meant it, and it was sincerely said. She had danced before but she was surprised that her first partner tonight had so much skill at it. She noted everyone was pairing off and was sincerely glad she'd asked him. Even if only for the night, it was almost a romantic affair, really. Her eyes sparkled as she danced, obviously enjoying every moment.

The Canine could only grin at her words. "You play your part well, my lovely green dragon. My choice was obviously the best", he whispered in her ear yet again. There was a pause as he took steps back and held her at arms length before pulling her back to him and in his arms as they dipped ever so extravagantly. His eyes would search for hers as they held out that position, then another smirk as he pulled her back up and close to him yet again. Body against body.
"Poetic, and good dancers apparently. You would think such traits would be well known", he said with a grin as he he allowed his cheek to rest against hers, whispering in her ear as he spoke.

Who was speaking to him, daring to tell him that he had been in the wrong? He bent down to retrieve his wineskin, not wanting to leave such precious possessions lying about. “Girls like charm, you don’t say?” He stood up, finally looking upon the one who had addressed him. He patted the hilt of his sword. “What about my sword, I’d say it’s rather charming, nothing more charming then manliness. It’d be hard to charm you I’m betting. You should’ve been named Fox, not Lake, with such beauty. And yes, I am just trying to earn some points here.” He winked at her, tipping his hat to the woman. “Come, come, join me. You’re exactly the type I was looking for, I can assure you. Do you know how to get loose and have some fun? Yes, it sounds wrong, but I can reassure you that I meant it just as wrongly as it sounds.” He laughed at his own comment, leaning back against the edge of the table for back support. He looked her up and down, trying to figure out just who she was. He knew who he wanted it to be, but had he glanced at her body enough times to recognize her in costume? He’d glanced at many woman’s bodies, that was for sure.

The Wher nodded and decided to try out his own pre-practiced voice. Mostly everyone here, he assumed, had tried on a new outfit along with a new voice, so that their identities would remain unknown. So, he said in a deep and rather gentle voice, “I do, my lady, at that.” He took her hand and laid a chivalrous kiss upon it, not stopping their dance but making it as though it were part of it.
He couldn’t remember when he’d last done something of this nature, and intended to enjoy it no matter who she was. So, with a flourish he artfully spun her, and then pulled her in close again. He was not a fool, and that was why he was a Wher and not a Wherry! He knew that the women enjoyed the dancing, both in physical and mental aspects. He would make sure whoever danced with him had a great time of it-and perhaps came back for another!

The Rogue only smiled and tipped his head slightly. "My beautiful flower, you pay me kindly with words. But I would be nothing without you. Your beauty gives this dance color", his words were well chosen and he spoke in such a manner he thought befitting his character.
"Would I be graced with your presence for the rest of this night? I dare not lose something so delicate", words spoken again as he spun her, pulled away, then brought her to him with a dip and leaned in. For a moment, it seemed he desired a kiss. But then as abruptly as his moves had been, he broke off with a wink and pulled both of them upright again and continued their dancing embrace.

The Seraphim realized that the Fire Hawk had not heard him, and therefore, rather than waste time on disappointment, spotted the newcomer and smiled beneath her mask. She walked up to him, head high and strapping her staff across her back in the place allotted to hold it, and asked, "you would dance with me, wouldn't you, oh feral one?"
She certainly liked the look of this one, even though she'd also eyed the pirate with some interest. Still, the feline looked like someone she'd far prefer to all of them so far, save perhaps the Fallen Contrast. He had been intriguing.

The Gold Dragon only giggled as the Wher spoke for the first time and dared lay a kiss on her hand. "Aren't we the charming one", she responded to him, and leaned into him as best she could. If he dared press this much, she'd only up the game further. "And bold as well. You're my kind of man Mr. Wher", she spoke coyly as she allowed him his dance moves, following his lead.
"You dance well. I take it you've done this before?", she questioned him with a smile.

"If I am to put on the costume, I have to play the part." The green dragon laughed delicately. "You were just attracted to my green, weren't you?" The girl questioned, a small smile on her face as she spun out from his body only to spin back in. As she was dipped, all she could think of was whether or not her dress was going up. Flashing nearly everyone by accident? That was almost as bad as falling. "You are a trusty canine, I haven't fallen yet." The girl nodded, giving him her approval as her dance partner. If this was anyone else, she probably would have slipped by now.
"I thought I saw a canine dancing and rhyming the other day." She admitted with a smile as the image of that popped into her head.

"Of course girls like charm. Isn't that common sense?" The Lake questioned, shaking her head slowly. "Come now Pirate, don't dissapoint me." She rested one hand on the table, leaning slightly to the side as she eyed Pirate with a grin. "I've seen more impressive swords, I will not lie to you. However, I'll give you some more chances to dazzle me with your manliness." The Lake laughed, as if she was bestowing a great gift upon him. She picked up her glass and toasted it to Pirate with a grin and a wink, "A fox? Now there's that charm I was looking for." She walked beside Pirate and leaned on the table beside him.
"Do I know how to get loose?" The Lake repeated. "Of course I do! I was born with no boundaries."

The Silent Warrior knew that they couldn't remain silent forever. Ah, but the sevendays practicing would work wonders, to hide their gender as well as might be done. The voice was light but at the same time sounded discernibly masculine, as the Silent Warrior became, alas, un-silent!
"You dance well yourself, and your costume is marvelous as well. Such work you must have put into it," 'he' said, not faltering in his steps as he moved in time with the music. Whoever they were, they were hiding it well enough that it would still leave their partner questioning who they were. Many were doing just that-hiding behind a mask, as they were meant to. How many surprises would be unleashed when the masks came off?

"Indeed, and you play it well. It's impressive", the canine agreed with her as they spun sharply together. The canine cocked his head to the side and gave a smile. "My dear, there's so much more to you than your green. You caught my eye, not the color of your costume", the canine whispered sweetly in her ear.
The canine really didn't care who was under this costume at this point. Whoever it was, he was happy with her. "Oh really? Perhaps he's a relation of mine", his words vibrated as they stay cheek to cheek. "I have to wonder if this is the only evening the two of us will share like this? I'm not so ready to let you go my lovely green dragon", kind, flirtatious words coming from the canine yet again.

The Shadow inclined her head a bit when the 'man' (she was going with that) finally spoke up. "Work?" she asked, tilting her head to the side in as much of a shrug as she could manage without misstepping. "It's just a bunch of gathered fabric and a mask. Nothing too spectacular." She flicked her head one way to flip a strand of pale hair out of her face, clicking a few of the beads together as she did so. "I think the hardest thing to get was the beads." And even if this Warrior did end up being a girl, well, it wasn't as though The Shadow were planning on pulling anyone into a closet and having at it tonight. It was all just good fun and dancing; and if that meant letting people get closer to her than she had in quite a long time? Well, so be it. The mask was definitely helping.

“Perhaps you’ve seen more impressive swords, but how about more impressive men? I’m sure that’ll be a hard one for you to admit to, after all, we have just met... My affect on people does leave them wanting to devote themselves to me, although, and I can’t really blame them. It’s breaking hearts that’s the hardest.” He studied her carefully, liking her mannerisms, not to mention the way that she spoke. Could this be his lucky night? “You have no boundaries, are you sure about that? Because hearing such an utterance would make me quite the jolly piper if I do say so.” He shifted closer to her, offering her his wineskin. “Here, nothing better than good ‘ole Benden wine.” Being closer to her made him want other things, but even so, he was holding back... for now. Perhaps she’d be the first to make her wants clear? He sure hoped so, for his wants were becoming needs.
“Well, I can charm you in many other ways I’m sure. Dazzle, that’s a grand word.” When she winked at him all he could do was chuckle like a schoolboy. Was she purposely trying to be this seductive, because just seeing her there, leaning on the table next to him... How much had he had to drink? He couldn’t really recall, but he was still clearheaded, so that must’ve counted for something. He took in her scent, feeling as if all his senses were heightened. He yearned to smack the side of his head, but there was no snapping out of this one. A bit lightheaded he was. “Tell me, just what kind of things dazzle a woman of your taste, hm?” He waited for her response, reaching out to rest a hand gently on her back. He’d ease into this.

The Feral Feline turned predatory eyes to the woman beside him. "Ha! I had not expected to be beaten to the punch in asking someone to dance." His voice was a velvety pur as his eyes raked over her form. "You'll do." He bowed over her hand before taking it and leading her to the dance floor.

"My leige?" Her lilting laugh sounded again. "I do believe you mean by my leave dear Fire Hawk." She slipped her hand into his and allowed him to lead her onto the dance floor.
"Who are we to say whether or not our cousins of the deep are philosophical or not? We do not see much of them beyond their carefree natures. I do believe I will emulate them in their carefree personalities this night."
