The Traveler looked up and over towards the herald when he called out, looking back to the Dawn Sisters - now revealed to be Marletta, who he recognized as one of his fellow weyrlings - as she took off her mask and offered to teach him to dance some other time. "Uh, well, I guess it wouldn't hurt sometime. If there's ever a free point during weyrling training." As he spoke he took the lower half of his mask off, the part tied over his mouth. he'd had to cover his entire face because of the identifying scar across his cheek, after all.
"I've heard the training can get pretty intensive though. Real time consuming and all." K'ris took the upper part of his facial disguise off then, holding the two pieces of cloth in his hands. He'd covered his hair too, because he wasn't sure what was considered noticeable in this sort of setting. "I'm...uh...sure you would have danced great though. You know, if there'd been time."
[Not that everybody didn't KNOW who the Traveler was already...xD]

“Don’t get sarcastic with me. You ran away, I’m allowed to have at least one slap in there.” Akki warned, waggling her finger in front of him. She stood on her tip toes and kissed K’dans cheek. “I’ve missed you though!” She exclaimed as she let her feet fall flat on to the ground. She hadn’t seen K’dan since forever it seemed. “Any dirrrrty details you have for me? Like where you ran off too?” She asked, rocking back and forth slightly with a large grin plastered onto her face.
“How’s Nike?” Akki asked with a slight frown tugging on her lips that disappeared quickly. Nike was a touchy subject. They were best friends, but things had changed. She leaned in slightly to see where K’dan was talking about. It was G’han, the Canine was G’han.
She pursed her lips slightly. “Huh. I thought so.” She mumbled quietly. She locked her hands behind her head, “I think I have a mass explanation to do for everyone K’dan. You came on a night where I caused drama. Lucky you.” She was joking about it because she simply didn’t know what else to do. Relationships were not her forte, but this was royally messing up. How was she even going to explain this one to certain people? She was slightly proud of herself that she could cause so much drama in such little time. Only she could be proud of such a thing.
She looked over to where R’xis was and winced slightly, seeing the boy in obvious despair. “I need to do some damage control.” She admitted with a crooked grin to K’dan before shrugging her shoulders. “But I have no idea how to do that. So keep me company as I figure things out?” She requested with what seemed to be a rather sad looking smile.
-----
“Oh Kira, don’t you know that a boy has to be bold? It’s the only way we can ever get someone!” He exclaimed, once again being overly dramatic. He smiled at her as she let her hand rest under his chin. Flirting with Kira was quite fun. She had no problem flirting back and the flirting was never really going to go anywhere. He assumed that Kira knew he liked boys and not girls. Z’ayr was like L’der, but with a bit more tact. He flirted but he knew where to draw the line. Well, sometimes he knew where to draw the line.
He sidled up beside her, slipping his arm around her shoulders. “Honey, all of us ladies love to dance!” He laughed happily. He grinned crookedly and returned the wink to her. “I do hope, however, that I was the best person you danced with tonight. You can’t say no. You’d shatter my delicate little heart.”

"Yeah, that's probably true", K'dan agreed with a nod. Though the kiss on the cheek caught him a bit off guard. He blushed slightly, showing some of that old K'dan flair. But the blush quickly faded. "I missed you guys as well. Pretty much why I came back", K'dan admitted to his fellow bluerider. But any smile he had faded at the subject of Nike. It wasn't one he wanted to touch on, but he kind of figured it would happen. "I don't know", he said simply, then shrugged it off. Best not to dwell on the subject. He didn't need to get all gloomy on such a day. After all, he had such fun being the Rogue. He stuffed the mask back in his pocket but put the hat back on. Better it rest on his head than in his hand.
K'dan looked over curiously at G'han then back to Akki as she looked off and mentioned damage control. Did something just happen with her and G'han? "I'm guessing this has to do with G'han?", he asked simply, not really knowing what had happened. After all, he was so busy charming the ladies himself that he didn't notice G'han turning some of his own charm on his best friend unknowingly. "Yeah sure, I'll stick around", K'dan answered her nonchalantly. He had to wonder what the whole deal was, he was a bit out of the loop.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Dear Z'ayr, you're the best. If I were to choose anyone, it would be you. Too bad though, I don't think it's ever really meant to be between us", she complimented him, but the last phrase said knowingly. She emphasized the point with a kiss of her own. At first it seemed she was going straight for his lips, but she kissed him just to the side of his mouth. "Too bad indeed", she said mock sadly as she pulled away.
The Dolphin giggled and then removed her greyish blue mask. Anassa's face emerge behind the mask.
Ocean's Tide smiled regally at her partner. "Rhia, rider of brown Mneith" She said, slipping the knot loose and removing the mask
“Oops! You lost your chance to charm me K’dan.” She said with a sad shake of her head. “You could have won extra points if you said I was the reason you came back.” She sighed, acting as if she was disappointed in K’dans answer. She lifted her hand and rested it on the boys arm for a moment, “Fair enough.” Akki snorted and laughed slightly at the mention of G’han being part of it, “He’s also been busy charming the ladies.” She patted his arm before letting her hand drop to her side. “Well, go on K’dan. Go get yourself some lady booty and tell me all the details tomorrow.” She laughed as she winked at the boy and walked away from him.
She headed towards where R’xis now sat with Wolf. She passed G’han on the way and pressed the Green Dragon mask into his hand, careful not to disturb the conversation he was having with the Weyrwoman. “R’xis saw.” She whispered to him as she continued to sweep by. She’d have to explain things to G’han later on; R’xis was first in the damage control. Of course Akki had no tact, she didn’t know really how to start this off. A simple apology seemed bland and probably wouldn’t do the trick.
She plopped herself beside R’xis and Wolf, before splaying her arms out on the table in front of her. “Hey kiddywinkles. Did y’all get your dance moves on tonight?” She asked, trying to lighten up the mood slightly even though she knew it would probably backfire. “An old friend dropped in just in time for the masquerade. He caught me off guard and I slapped him though. Not the warm welcome he was expecting.” She said with a laugh and a sheepish grimace, eyeing R’xis in the corner of her eye. Drama, especially relationship drama, wasn’t her thing. Hence why she was trying to casually chat with the two.
----
Z’ayr let his shoulders slump as he sighed loudly. “Right you are!” He said loudly with a purse of his lips. “Too bad though. We could have been a cute couple. If, you know, you had boy parts.” He laughed, his arm slipping off of her shoulder as she moved. “We’ll just have to go find ourselves some good looking boys, won’t we?” Z’ayr stuck out his tongue as he surveyed the crowd before him. “Though, I don’t think any of these are my type.”
Having never gotten a reply from the second girl he'd asked to dance, Fire Hawk had stepped back into some random spot in the crowd, near whoever feels like being near him. He looked towards the herald when it was called out that it was time to demask, smiling a bit and shrugging. "It seems as though the night is coming to an end," he said to nobody in particular, grabbing the strap of the mask wrapped around his head and lifting it, and the green cloth covering his hair, off to reveal himself as J'kiran. The cloth had been quite necisarry - fire red hair was a bit of a giveaway in the way of identification.
Wolf kept on staring over at where Akki was in hopes she’d come over, not that she had to. She remained in silence with R’xis, all because she sucked at these sorts of things, and she knew that no one could make this any better except for Akki herself. When the girl came over Wolf remained kneeling on the ground, giving Akki a soft smile. She had no quarrel with her; she could see Akki wasn’t very mature in the relationship department. She had some growing up to do. When Akki spoke Wolf chuckled, though it was quiet and had probably gone amiss. She really hadn’t put much effort forth to pretend.
“I danced with someone briefly, which is fine with me; I’m a terrible dancer anyhow. I didn’t really want to come, but I’m glad I did, it was a nice gathering,” Wolf replied honestly. Best to ease into what she’d actually come over for. “R’xis didn’t dance with anyone,” she said in a lower voice, now staring at her brother, who was not looking to either of them but instead looking at his lap. She wasn’t going to pressure him into speaking; he could do that all on his own. Wolf may not have been a Dictionary of head knowledge here, but she knew to stand up and give one last smile to Akki. She took her brothers hand and patted it comfortingly before nodding to his girlfriend, her best friend, and then leaving. She should leave them to discuss things amongst themselves; this was no business of hers.
R’xis watched his sister go, wondering when she’d become a woman, though he wondered this often. He put a hand to the side of his face, turning to fully face Akki. “You had a good time then?” he asked her, his tone mellow, lifeless. He kept his hands in his lap, struggling to look at her. His throat felt dry, and he regretted not drinking at least some of the wine.
Akki watched as Wolf got up to leave, and blew a kiss to the gold rider followed with a small smile. She knew that Wolf knew what had happened between G’han and herself. How awkward! Thankfully it didn’t seem that Wolf held a grudge against her for this. R’xis, on the other hand, probably did. The bluerider slowly turned her head so she could look at the boy. “You didn’t dance with anyone?” She asked with a slight frown. She wished that he had danced with someone. It was a night for partying, for adventures and for stories that would be told the next day. It was not a night for isolation, that was for sure. Then again, it seemed to be a night of drama which wasn’t all that much better.
She nodded her head in reply to his question. “I didn’t step on anyone’s feet when I danced and I didn’t trip.” She said with pride. She was not used to dancing seriously. She was used to dancing with her friends, spinning them around and such. Tonight’s dancing was much different, more formal in fact. “I danced with G’han and then K’dan, who I don’t think you’ve met right? I’m pretty sure he left before you came along. He’s a bluerider too!” She said happily; glad to see her old friend come back to the Weyr.
She sighed and examined R’xis closely. “Well go on then.” She urged with a soft smile. “I know you saw, or figured it out or whatever.” She said with a shrug, waving her hand in a circle slightly. “You’re allowed to yell but you can’t throw things at me because this is a really nice dress.”
R’xis listened to her talk about the night, shaking his head when she made mention of his dancing. He normally would entertain her by commenting when she made her comical remarks, this time he just couldn’t bring himself to, and there was nothing funny about this situation. He physically flinched when she said G’han’s name, and didn’t pay much attention to anything after that. Something about a bluerider, which is why he supposed her voice rose in excitement at the mention of the dragonman. Another person for her to fancy, he thought bitterly, keeping that fully to himself.
“Is there something for me to have figured out?” he said a little more sharply than he’d intended to, not liking her choice of words. Her smile made his hardened expression soften; he couldn’t help but always feel warm when she was around, even when he felt anger springing up, like now. “I’m not going to yell at you Akki,” he said, sounding quite literally fed-up. “I’ve never yelled at you.” He didn’t understand why even at a time like this she felt the need to joke, though he knew it was her coping mechanism. “Akki, of course I saw, what do you expect me to think? How do you want me to react? Would you prefer I say everything’s fine, that it doesn’t matter? It’d only show that I don’t care about you as much as I obviously do, though lately I’m not sure whether or not you care about that, or see it.” He was being brutally honest with her, he figured it was time. He could kill two birds with one stone this way, and save any future trials. He just wanted her to understand that she hurt him when she did these types of things. They were in a relationship, or hadn’t she noticed? Maybe a reminder every now and then ought to help her. He used perfect restraint, talking calmly, trying to do his best to get through to her.
Wolf watched from a distance, not able to make out what they were saying, but she could see her brother’s hands moving about in helpful gestures as he spoke. He always did that for effect. She looked away from time to time, not wanting to be a nuisance; she’d left for that very reason, to keep from becoming one. She hoped that someone came along to talk to her, to keep her mind off of the pair. It troubled her when things like this arose. She couldn’t help but empathize with people, it was how she rolled. Her happiness was dependent on the happiness of others.
“There are always things to figure out when with me.” She replied with a soft smile. Akki wasn’t the type of person that you could figure out in one day. She was the kind of person that you could examine over and over again and still never fully understand. She was born that way, she rarely had consistency in her life and that was how she liked it. She enjoyed adventures and things learning things that were new to her. She knotted her fingers into her hair and pulled slightly as she listened to R’xis go off. She let her hand fall from her head and drummed her fingers against the table.
“How do I want you to react? I don’t know. I’d like for you to be okay with it, but at the same time I want you to get mad at me. You never get mad at me, I don’t get it. People are supposed to yell at me!” Akki tried to explain with a frown, chewing on the inside of her cheek. It was bound to get down to this eventually, some emotional and in-depth conversation. It was a shame that it had to occur tonight, but she did deserve it. She pointed a finger at the boy, “Don’t pull that on me R’xis.” Her hand fell once more. “You know I’m not good at relationships and that I like flirting. Everyone knows that I like to flirt. It’s just what I do, I’m a people person.” She said with a roll of her eyes. She wasn’t trying to be mean, she just wanted for R’xis to get used to this is what happened when someone was with her. She knew they were in a relationship but she also knew she would never be able to stop flirting with everyone.
“The thing with G’han…” She paused, trying to think of a way to phrase it. “The thing with G’han was a last ‘Hurrah!’. That’s about it.” She said finally. That’s all it really was too.
R’xis listened to her, for it was only fair, she had listened to him. “Maybe I don’t want to yell at you Akki, that won’t solve anything,” he put in. “Does that mean you don’t ever expect to go somewhere with this, that you don’t want a serious relationship? If I’m not what you want I need you to tell me that now, because shells girl I love you more than life itself.” He stared intensely at her. He knew Akki was a flirt, and she was one by choice, for she enjoyed being just the way she was. He knew that her flirtation is what added the quirk and charm to her persona, but it didn’t make for a comfortable relationship. “I’ve never asked you to stop being nice to people, I just don’t want things like,” he was the one to point now, but to G’han, “that happening. Is it so unreasonable, or unfair?” The whole time his voice hadn’t raised one bit, as if he was having a normal conversation, though his tone revealed otherwise-that there was some serious content to it. “Maybe it’s time for you to try being good at relationships, surprise yourself.” He felt like this might be going nowhere fast, this conversation that is. In the end he’d have to decide whether or not things like this were going to happen in the future, if not worse. If he hadn’t seen, would she have even cared to tell him about it? How many more incidences like this would she brush under the rug as a ‘last hurrah?’ R’xis never had hurrahs; he only had Akki’s.
Was she trying to tell him something without outright saying it? He sure hoped not, because he had devoted what felt like his whole life just to make her his girl. The moment of truth was gripping him like a whirlpool, making him dizzy and breathless. Sure, he could tell her again and again how he felt, and utter those three words with as much feeling as he could muster, but in the end it all came down to how she really felt deep inside. She’d have to dig down deep.
Wolf wondered if this was why she was so reluctant to talk to guys, because she feared any relationship going sour-not that R’xis’ relationship was. She covered her face with her hands, praying that all went well. She was so afraid to love; at least R’xis had been brave enough to put his heart on the line. He’d made the jump, deeming it all worth it, if and when he got the bluerider. It’s all too scary, wondering if feelings will hold, sometimes. It can be a beautiful thing though, so it’s said.
Christae smiled. "Even though you didn't know it was me." She chuckled. "It seems we have a tendency to meet on the dance floor."
"I am glad you returned. We need riders with a sense of loyalty to Dark Moon. With Thread coming we'll have to work together to keep this place from dying and to keep Pern free from its arch enemy. That's one of the reasons why I made you wingleader. Your history with Dark Moon will help you in that position as well as your training with Telgar."
G'han's smirk held. "I can't complain. Not many get to embrace the weyrwoman in dance. Yet I've done so atleast on two occassions", he said rather charmingly, but with a mild hint of flirtation.
But that smirk turned into a smile. "My dear Christae, your words are far too kind. I simply give my loyalty to Pern, this weyr, and most especially you. I serve in whatever position you need me, wingleader included. I will always be at your service", G'han was very formal and dutiful in his tone and bowed slightly to the weyrwoman for emphasis.
As G'han finished his bow, he noticed something being pressed in his hand. He grasped it without looking at it, wondering what this was all about. However, he had no time to dwell on it as he heard the familiar voice of Akki whispering to him. R'xis saw? He saw what? G'han lifted his arm and stretched his hand before him so that he could see what was in his hand. He blinked and stared at it for a moment before realization set in. Aha, so that wasn't who I thought it was. This is what I get for a risky move. But while he thought this, G'han had a smile on his face. Oh what he had just done, such drama it would stir up. Not that he was happy about it, but he found this all too amusing. Well, you just kissed one of your best friends G'han. Way to go. Still, didn't know Akki was such a decent kisser. Guess I know now. G'han couldn't help but give off an audible chuckle at the thought. He had just kissed Akki. This was just great, drama but better yet this would just fuel the gossip going around about him even more.
~~~~~~~~~~~
K'dan could only laugh and shake his head. "Oh my", was all he could say about G'han charming ladies. But wait, wasn't he with Rhia last time he checked? Things must have really changed in those few turns he was gone. "Alright, later Akki", K'dan chuckled as he left, doubting he would do what she told him to do. No, first thing he wanted to do was greet G'han and Christae. G'han was one of his best friends in the weyr when he was here and getting to talk to the weyrwoman was always a pleasure.
He walked over to the two and saw Akki's mask in G'han's hand as G'han looked it over then smiled and laughed. So Akki was the one he was charming, thought so. "Hey G'han! Long time no see!", K'dan exclaimed and patted the bronzerider on the shoulder before swinging around to face Christae. "And weyrwoman Christae, always a pleasure. I hope you've enjoyed yourself this evening?", K'dan greated the werywoman as formally as he was taught and was as kind and courtious as he could be.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kira laughed at Z'ayr. "Perhaps not for you dear, but I think the pick is just fine. If nothing else, I'm going to have my fun with these boys", Kira sounded a bit haughty and pressed a hand on her chest as she laughed. She looked over her choice as well and noted J'kiran taking off his mask. "Speaking of which. I see one I want to chat up now. I hope you don't mind my abrupt leave, but you got the pleasure of dancing with me. A pleasure many didn't get to have, so that should make you feel special enough", Kira explained to Z'ayr. She kissed him on the cheek and bounded off towards J'kiran. "Tata!", she exclaimed to Z'ayr as she left.
She skipped her way over to J'kiran and wrapped her arms around the boy in a very obvious hug as she jumped off her feet. "J'kiran, you're here!", she practically squeeled. "Well shards, I didn't get to dance with you. I'm sorry about that", she said in almost a pout as her lips stuck out to pout. Her arms continued to hang around him, as if she were prepared to dance with him on the spot.
The Sun turned to the Herald when he began to speak. It was now time to unmask. Now who had he been dancing with? Everyone around him had removed his mask so he could narrow it down a bit. He had not been expecting Rhia beneath the mask though. Good thing he had not been a candidate or a Weyrling here for that would have been a bit awkward especially with how close he had been holding her during the dance. No, this rider had transferred to Dark Moon awhile ago.
“It’s been a pleasure, Rhia,” he bowed his head to the fellow Brownrider. It took a moment for him to realize he was still wearing his mask, it had felt rather cumbersome when first put on but now he was used to it. The Sun untied the string that held the mask to his face, with a grin on his face. Finally his full face was visible, “It is I. Sh’rel rider of brown Rolaranth.”
---
The Traveler had removed his mask revealing K’ris. Marletta smiled, glad that it hadn’t been L’der. Then again, if it was L’der, he would have been way more forward. “I suppose you’re right. That will be time consuming.” She thought for a moment biting her lip, “Well then, I expect you to save me a dance at the next Feast or Gather or whatever. Ok?” She smiled at her fellow Weyrling.
[No big. Life gets in the way like that xD]
J'kiran looked over as he caught someone running towards him out of the corner of his eye. He hadn't known Kira for too long, but he knew her well enough to brace himself when she got close enough so when she jumped at him in a hug he wasn't pushed over. He patted her shoulder in response, still a bit awkward around the amount of physical contact his new friend was accustomed to giving her friends.
"Well it did sound like fun," he replied. He shook his head once at her other comment. "Don't worry," he said. "I only mustered enough courage to ask two ladies to dance." He glanced to the side and gave a small shrug, then looking back to his friend. "The second one didn't respond. But you certainly looked to have plenty of attention. Most of the ladies dressed as dragons did."
- - -
K'ris nodded in agreement to the time consuming part, looking down at his hands during the moment of silence and then back to her when she began speaking once more. The weyrling blinked at her words, which sounded more like a gentle demand than a question. "I, uh..." He shrugged in a bit of an awkward gesture, and lifted a hand to mess with the hair on the back of his head, then nodded and offered a lopsided smile. "Well, sure. Yeah, don't see why not." He'd actually never been to a Gather before, which is one of the reasons he'd never danced (he wasn't sure the spinning with that other masked person counted as dancing). However, since he was part of a Weyr now, he expected that would be another first eventually.
Yelling never solved anything? Did that mean yelling at your children was a failed parenting technique? Huh. That was interesting; she’d have to store that information away. Not that she planned to become a parent anytime soon mind you. She twisted her fingers around each other, forming a knot with them before shrugging. “You know I never really think stuff out in a long term way. I plan day by day and that’s about it.” She admitted, though most people knew this already. Planning long term didn’t make sense to her. Things always changed, there were always conflicts so why plan if it was just going to get messed up anyways? She cast a look at G’han and a small smile formed on her face, “To be fair though, maybe I thought it was you under that mask?”.
A lie, of course. She figured out it was G’han pretty quickly. No matter if he hid his face with a mask, he was still her flirtatious friend. Nothing could change that. She laughed at R’xis’ next statement. “You know anything I try something, I just make it worse.” She said with a snort of amusement. “You do realize that riders can’t exactly be monogamous right?” Akki asked with a slight frown before explaining, “I mean. There will always be flights that Ebbeth will participate in whether or not I am with you. I have a male dragon, he’ll try to catch any green there is unfortunately. And you have a female dragon; Ersith will rise a few times and be caught by varying people.”
R’xis was a new rider, while Akki could be considered a veteran. Ebbeth had participated in a fair number of flights at this point, and even managed to win a few. She looked at R’xis, straight in the eye. “So, I don’t know, why don’t we just take this day by day? That’s more fun anyways, right? Planning for the future is weird.” She said the last part while making a silly face.
-----
Z’ayr waggled his fingers at Kira and she headed towards J’kiran. J’kiran was either a lucky guy or a really unfortunate one at this point, depended if he liked his girls bold and flirtatious. Of course now he looked like a loser standing by himself. He looked around and saw Hasima, but the yellowrider seemed content with her cup of klah. So Z’ayr pranced to where Wolf was standing.
He stopped right behind her, wrapping his arms around her shoulders from behind. He didn’t know Wolf very well; she was a weyrling before him and closer to Akki. But that didn’t matter, Z’ayr liked everyone and anyone. “Wooooooolf.” He whined loudly, resting his head upon hers since he towered over her a bit. This was probably considered inappropriate behaviors since she was the Junior WeyrWoman. Not that it mattered to him. “I’m so bored! And none of the guys here are interested in me!” He moaned in his usual flamboyant and dramatic way.
Kira shifted her shoulders slightly to fix the way the neckline fell. The dress may have been revealing, but Kira did indulge herself in some small modesty. So when she felt she was showing too much, she shifted the dress as subtly as possible. Now happy with the way it fell, she could respond to J'kiran who was just finished speaking. "Only asking two? Poor J'kiran, you should have asked more ladies. If you did, you would have eventually had the chance to dance with me", Kira said in her usual flirtious tone. But she cast a frown, looked down, then decided it best to rest her head on his shoulder. "I only danced with two guys, and one was Z'ayr. Unfortunantly, he's not my type", she said in a pouty sort of tone. It was pretty obvious, if anyone actually knew Z'ayr, why the bluerider weyrling wasn't her type. Simply put, she was not into guys who were into guys. "You, however, I would have much rathered to dance with", she said in a near prissy demanding tone as she pointed a finger on his chest. Her words and tone gave away the possibility that she implied he was her type.
J'kiran smiled a bit and shrugged. "I barely had the courage to ask the two I did. I'm not very used to dealing with girls, and even less used to going to balls. I only know the bit of dancing that I do because my mother wanted to be certain I knew at least the basics." He thought back for a moment to the time he had growing up with his foster parents. "You know," he said, looking up into air for a moment. "The more I recall of my childhood now that I'm here, the more I wonder if my mother didn't have some parental instinct that let her know I was going to be more than a farm hand." He smiled, and shrugged. "Or maybe she was just hoping."
That was when Kira let her head rest on his shoulder. He'd been gradually getting used to Kira's more touchy-feely way of dealing with her friends, but he still lifted his head a bit more to put as much distance as one can between someone's face that is on their shoulder. He blinked as her tone switched to a more demanding one, glancing down when she poked at his chest. His face gained a lightly red tone, more out of awkwardness than anything else; he really did view Kira only as a friend, her boldness just still had a tendency to catch him off guard. "Well," he said. "Perhaps at a future gather we could, though you're probably a more competent dancer than I am. Growing up as a herding boy doesn't give many lessons in the ways of dancing."
"Yours must have been some mother then. She seems to want the best for you, at the very least", Kira responded a bit fondly to him, this time no flirtation in her tone. "It's nice, having someone who wants so much for you", Kira sounded a bit distant this time as she stared blankly at her finger that was pointed on his chest. However, now that finger began drawing circles on his chest.
After a few moments, she seemed to snap back to reality and looked up at him with a smirk as her finger stopped. "That better be a promise, mister. Because I'm going to hold you to it", she said a bit slyly while her finger was now poking his chest for emphasis. "And if I'm the better dancer", she added in, "then I'll lead". She winked at him after she finished speaking.
J'kiran smiled and nodded. "Yes," he said to the part about his foster mother, "She and my father have always wanted the best for me." They had, after all, insisted that he leave with the Dragonrider when he was searched even though at the time he was doing all the jobs that they were unable to do in their older age. He seemed to go back more at ease when the flirty tone left her voice. While she sat there staring at her finger he turned his head a bit and reached over towards the table to lift his glass of juice, sipping at it in the moments of silence and then setting it back down when Kira started talking again.
"Well," he said, "I suppose it could be. I'll certainly not have any other ladies waiting for a dance from me." He felt his mind brush against that of the by now sleeping Kaenith and smiled, giving a small shrug. "As it should be, though I don't see any problem in sharing a dance with a friend." He looked over to her at her other comment, smiling a bit and giving a small chuckle. "I don't think I'm quite that inept at dancing."
