Fire Hawk applauded at the end of the ballad, looking around a bit after the announcement that dancing could begin again. Well, this was proving to feel more awkward than the first time for sure, especially with the added knowledge that the masks would have to be lifted at some point soon, now that the ballad had been sung. He'd done pretty okay with the Dolphin, but without his mask he'd never been very charming before (not in his opinion anyway). So he was worried that if he was in the middle of a dance when the unmasking was done, he'd lose his composure completely. Especially if the girl he was dancing with was one he knew! He stepped over to a nearby table and let himself down into the seat, having chosen a chair with his back towards a wall so he could watch the people for a bit. He supposed he'd just wait and see if anyone was left unchosen, and then worry about working up the courage to ask another girl after.

The Traveler blinked once at the girl's comment, glancing to the side a bit awkwardly even despite the dizziness. He wasn't certain, but the comment had sounded a bit like a hint for him, that she wanted to be asked to dance. The only unfortunate thing - despite his nerves - was that he had no idea how to dance. Then there would be the height difference, and the fact that he was horrible with girls to begin with. The harper's starting up was a welcome save from his having to respond just yet.
During the ballad he had rested his eyes against his hands again while listening. After it was finished and the Dawn Sisters spoke up he lifted his head to look at her, rubbing his eyes and then blinking for a moment before nodding. "Yeah," he said, smiling again underneath the cloth. He glanced away for a moment then. "And as for what you said before. I uh...I'm not really any sort of dancer, but I mean, I bet it'd be pretty boring to go to a ball thing and not get to dance once." He looked back to the Dawn Sister, having brought a hand up to rub at the back of his neck. "I...well I mean, if you wanted to stumble around and...and eh, stub a few toes, well that's as much as I could offer." He shrugged awkwardly. "I've really never danced before, but I'd feel bad if I knew you'd just had to sit around all night."

Ocean's Tide slipped out of her seat, leaving her empty wineglass and plate on the table for the drudges who were circling around taking up empty plates and glasses. She headed out onto the dance floor after clapping for the beautiful ballad that had almost brought tears to her eyes. The Weyr was being recognized for its worth at last. She glanced around, surveying the free men in their handsome costumes and masks.

Brown Dragonet turned and saw the dancer who had been acting almost scandalously with The Green Dragon. He asked her to dance and she looked at him for a few moments, weighing her decision. She figured that it wouldn't hurt and she could manage him if he became too frisky.
"Perhaps I do." She said with a wry smile as she placed her hand in his gloved ones.

Feral Feline prowled around the edges of the dance floor, graceful and dangerous. He saw Shadow sit back down and wondered why no one had asked her to dance yet. He stalked up to her.
"My dear lady, why do you sit alone? Would you care for some company, perhaps a dance later?" He pulled out a chair, waiting to see what she would say.

The Skybroom remained seated. He was taking his time with his food and sipping slowly at his glass of white wine. It was not a Benden vintage but it was still palatable. He knew better than to drink wine quickly because he was not used to it. He usually preferred red fruit juice but he enjoyed a glass of wine from time to time. This one must have had a good skin because it didn't taste off like some wines did when the wineskin was in need of replacing. He wondered if any of the ladies would approach him to dance or if he would have to walk out and find someone himself.

The canine smiled at the brown dragonet, she had accepted his offer. He gently wrapped his fingers around her hand and led her out to the dance floor. The two passed by other characters that were pairing up as well. The canine had to wonder how successful some of them would be. But the attention and thought he gave towards the other costumed characters was only momentary. He looked back to the brown dragonet as he found their spot on the dance floor. One hand holding hers and the other resting on her back to guide her. The steps came slowly as the music played and the canine only picked up the pace when the music called for it.

The Sun finished his plate and sat back to listen to the Ballad sipping at his wine. It was a fine Ballad, the Harpers had outdone themselves, he thought with a smile. The Sun clapped loudly for the Harpers. Now, it was time to dance, if he could find someone without a partner. He’d arrived late so they had all been in pairs before he came. The Sun stood up, brushing a few wrinkles from his red breeches. He nodded to a Drudge who came to take his wine glass away, murmuring thanks. He noted the young women standing dressed in various shades of blue who had not yet been partnered up. The Sun checked to make sure his mask was still on properly before making his way over to her.
Once he was standing before her The Sun bowed, “Evening, Ocean’s Tide,” he said before coming out of the bow. “Might I join you for this next dance?”

The Night had not expected being talked to so suddenly. He didn’t mind of course, but still it got him off guard for a moment there. He wasn’t going to admit that though, oh no. He looked at Gold Dragon and smiled at her. “Isn’t that what night’s are supposed to do? Be admired from afar and remain elusive?” He asked, raising an eyebrow at his guest. He lifted a hand to his hat and swept it downwards with a slight bow, sending a ray of silver to fall towards the ground due to the color in his hair.
“I’ll let you catch the night, however. If you wish that is.” He straightened and placed the hat back upon his head. “May I have this dance?”

The Gold Dragon smiled sweetly. "You may. Only the rare and lucky few are chosen to catch the Gold Dragon", she responded in turn. If he wished to speak of how the night was, she was certainly inclined to give in her own bit. The Gold Dragon outstretched her hand and waited for the Night to take it and lead her out to the dance floor.

The Green Dragon clapped along with the others when the ballad was done. It was marvelous piece of work, detailed and portrayed the Weyrs history perfectly. It certainly added to the night, almost anyone could agree to that much. The Green Dragon's thoughts were still lingering on the ballad when the Rogue suddenly appeared in front of her. When she felt his lips against her hand, she flinched slightly – eyes wide behind the mask. She had not seen the man come near her and it startled her when he was suddenly kissing her hand and asking for a dance.
“Oh.” She said with a hint of surprise. Another dance partner? Already> It was barely minutes ago she left the Canine for a quick drink and she was already being asked to dance again. Her feet would be tired when the morning came, sore also. “I suppose so.” She replied in a soft voice before realizing that sounded quite rude, like she was just doing it to put up with him. “I mean. Yes. Yes, you may.” The Green Dragon amended with a faint blush – mostly hidden by her mask but could still be seen very slightly.

Ocean's Tide smiled beneath the mask that hid her face with shades of blue and held out a gloved hand for The Sun to take. "Good evening to you as well. It would be a pleasure." She let him lead her out onto the floor as the Harpers struck up a slow waltz to get the dancers up again. Ocean's Tide wondered aloud if the Harpers would play some of the faster Gather dances that were so much fun to dance to.

The next masked figure was terribly nervous to be entering so late. It had been her idea from the start to be a little late, but not this bad.
"The Morning Glory"
Her hair is braided and pined into curls and waves. Some hangs free to brush against her bare shoulders. Green 'vines' and blue ribbons have been laboriously threaded into Glory's hair. Her shoulders shimmer with a light dusting of glitter. It's a simple green dress with blue 'petals' that swish softly around her feet as she walks forward into the room. Her mask is two small flowers as her eyes, with the vines covering most of her face, only her mouth is unobstructed. Her eyes are framed by a soft yellow that is then enhanced by small blue petals as a sort of exaggerated eyelash.
Once through the doors she lets go of her nerves. She's now the Morning Glory. She operates on her own time, blooming when she will, growing where she will. Glory's disappointed that she missed most of the Ballad, hearing it only from the other side of the doors, but she made it at last. She slowly threads her way around the room, taking it all in.

The Night gingerly took the Gold Dragon’s hand and slowly steered her towards the dance floor. “The night catches all dragons.” He replied with a wink, hidden away behind his mask. He sounded cocky, arrogant, boastful, annoying - whatever you wanted to call it. He didn’t mean too, but the words that were spilling out of his mouth just kept coming out that way. Hopefully the Gold Dragon (Or anyone else for that matter) wouldn’t think badly of him.
On the dance floor, he held the girls hand and placed his other hand on her waist. “Have you danced with anyone else tonight?” He asked with genuine curiosity.

Fire Hawk had been seated towards the back wall and looking about the room for a few minutes by the time Morning Glory was announced. He hadn't expected anyone else arriving so late into the evening, not many people probably were, but it at least gave him a bit of an opportunity to try and push himself past shyness once more. He had been enjoying his conversation with The Dolphin earlier, but the night was all about getting to know more than one person, and so he got to his feet and wove his way through the crowd to where Morning Glory had entered.
"Hello, Lady Morning." He offered a small bow. "Or is it perhaps Lady Glory? I wouldn't want to miscall you." Fire Hawk offered a smile and then held out his hand. "Would you perhaps care to dance?" Sure, he probably looked awfully pulled together and calm, but inside his heart was beating like some thirteen year old boy at his first Gather. One would think after asking the first girl to dance it would have gotten easier.

The Shadow had been taking a sip at her juice when the Feral Feline prowled over. She turned to regard him as she spoke, and inclined an eyebrow behind her mask when he pulled the chair out, as though hoping she would answer his question positively. "I guess it wouldn't hurt," she said, taking another sip from her juice while letting him take his seat. The Shadow seemed to ponder for a moment on the Feline's other question, and then rolled her shoulders a bit with a shrug. "And I guess we could go out to dance after, too."

Dawn Sisters watched as other couples partnered up to dance before looking down at her hands which were folded together on the table. Had she been too obvious to the boy? She did want to dance but she didn’t want to be the one to ask him to dance. But perhaps she should have. They were wearing masks after all, but those would come off soon enough.
She glanced up when The Traveler spoke. Hearing his response a smile spread across her face. The Dawn Sisters did not mind the height difference, as long as she got to dance at least once tonight. “I think you’re better at dancing than you think… but if you want I could teach you a little bit. We can do a simple step,” she paused as she heard the song being played by the Harpers, “And this tune is slower so there needn’t be any spinning like you were before. And we can stay on the outside of the group if you want so we’re not in the middle of everything.” All this spilled from her lips without so much as a breath. Clearly The Dawn Sisters was excited about her chance to dance.

A lopsided smile appeared on The Sun’s face as he took Ocean’s Tide’s hand in his and he inclined his head to her. “I’m honored to be your dance partner.” What was he doing? This was supposed to be a fun night. They were in masks she didn’t know who he was, well, not yet at least… why was he remaining so formal?
He heard the Harpers strike up a slower song. He weaved his way to the dance floor, not letting go of Ocean’s Tide’s hand. The Sun paused for a moment before placing his left hand on the small of her back, choosing to hold her closer to him. If she chose to step back he would of course adopt a looser hold. The Sun heard Ocean’s Tide wonder about the faster dances and grinned.
“Those are fun, I agree. However, I feel when I have a partner as lovely as you a slow dance can be more …rewarding. Faster dances don’t allow time for us to speak.” Still rather formal, however a bit more on the flirty side which he usually had trouble with. He hoped she didn’t mind.

The Traveler gave an awkward shrug when he was told he was likely a better dancer than he thought. "I didn't exactly grow up in any way that'd let me know how to dance at all," he protested. Then he looked over at her next comment. "Teach me?" he repeated, thinking on it for a moment. Then he nodded while she finished the rest of her comment, and smiled a bit underneath the cloth across his face. "All right," he said. "I'm up for being taught." Then he shrugged and tilted his head a bit to the side. "It doesn't matter where we end up though. Edge, middle. I don't really mind either way."
