The Dolphin had remained seated after the Herald finished. She scanned the newly paired dancers and then noticed the intriguing looking costume of the Skybroom and realized that he had no dance partner. She accepted another glass of wine from a uniformed drudge and went to sit near him.
"I hope you do not mind some lighthearted comany?" Her eyes glittered with amusement behind her mask as she kept up the character of her costume.

The Skybroom looked up from his perusal of the dancers to find the (very) pretty Dolphin in front of him with her eyes twinkling merrily. He leapt to his feet, bowing low.
"Certainly I do not mind dear lady!" He pulled out a chair. "Do tell me all about yourself, as far as the bounds of our masks may allow! I am called the Skybroom, my namesake is the tall, magestic tree that sweeps the sky like a giant broom, hence the name skybroom." His manner was flirtatious, just as hers seemed to be.

Feral Feline gave a grin that would have been wolfish if he had been the Canine. As it were, it was positively animal. This man could play his part well. He shrugged as well, adopting his partner's air of nonchalance.
"Dearest Shadow, I do believe you have no interest in dancing with me. However, since this is a dance, you deign to grace me with your acquiesence." His eyes glittered with obvious amusement behind his mask.
"This set seems to be rather slow for a dance. I will take you up on your somewhat reluctant agreement to dance with me and sweep you off your feet." There was an obvious challenge in his voice.

After a few hours of revelry, the Herald stepped forward.
"Alas my masked Ladies and Gentlemen, it is time to unmask. Step forth and reveal your true selves for this night of revelry draws to a close."

The Skybroom smiled at the woman sitting beside him, "I suppose our anonymity is over. " They had danced and then returned to sitting.
"I believe you will not know me fair lady." He removed his mask, reavealing a freckled face and warm hazel eyes. "I am a newcomer to this weyr. T'ren, rider of brown Danaeth, at your service."

Feral Feline was actually quite disappointed when the Herald announced the end of the Masquerade. He gave a sardonic smile to The Shadow.
"My ruse is over. I can no longer hide behind a mask." He untied the intricate mask and let it slip from his face, revealing the pale blue eyes and tanned skin of bronzerider P'rin.

The canine looked at the brown dragonet. "It seems our time of mystery is over", he said a bit sadly. He could have gone all night without unmasking, he would have rathered that. But now his time of living as another person was over. The canine removed his mask and ear pieces. His head fully uncovered, the canine was revealed to be none other than the gossip-worthy bronzerider himself, G'han. "The name is G'han, brown dragonet", he said formally with a slight bow.

"I know your name, Wingleader G'han." Brown Dragonet said sweetly, her voice thick with amusement.
"You know me well." She removed her mask. Warm brown eyes were twinkling. The Brown Dragonet was Christae!

The Rogue had quite a time with his new found partner. He wasn't so willing to give up his own identity. The one he had now was the one he favored. "Alas, it seems our game of mystery and shadow is now over dear Green Dragon. I regret the night could nor progress further in such a manner. He boldly laid a gentlemanly kiss on the back of her hand before removing his hat and then his mask.
"Perhaps you don't remember me, perhaps you do. Dear Green Dragon, my name is K'dan, rider of blue Hydrath. Former Darkmoon weyrling returned", K'dan spoke, still in the same manner as the rogue and took a bow himself.

The Green Dragon lifted her hand to the back of the head, fingers moving quickly to untie the strings that held her mask on. The mask dropped into her right hand as she lifted her left and neatly smacked K'dan on the side of his head. "You loser!" Akki said, placing one hand on her hip. She hadn't done the best job at being someone else. She had tried out the whole awkward and shy thing but forcing yourself to blush was a tricky thing to do. She practically gave up halfway.
"You can't just ditch the Weyr and then waltz back in here trying to charm the ladies." She snorted, rolling her eyes at the same time. Of course she remembered K'dan. He was with Nike, causing drama within DarkMoon. She wiped the back of her hand on to her dress, sticking out her tongue at the boy, "Gah. Now I have K'dan germs on me."

The Gold Dragon heaved a sigh. Soon her identity would be revealed as well. She watched one by one as the characters unmasked and revealed themselves. Some surprised her, others didn't. But now she couldn't put it off anymore. "It seems the Night is over", she played her words well. Indeed the Night would be unmasked as well and then exist as the person behind the mask.
The Gold Dragon removed her mask and revealed herself to be Kira, copper weyrling. "I am Kira, weyrling of copper Ayerith", Kira said with a bit of a grin.

The Pirate had continued to laze around at his seat when the last women had left, clearly he was still thinking about her. When it came time for the unmasking he was half-asleep, clearly having drunk himself to a mess. Hopefully once he unmasked himself he wouldn’t be pounced on by the Weyrwoman, who would then savagely take him out of the room to give him a thorough beating. Though he had to admit, he did like the older women. He mumbled something or other and pulled off his hat, revealing his mix match of brown and blond hair. Then, once having torn the black mask off of his face, his blue eye could be seen far better, his brown eye concealed underneath his storm of bangs.
“Yes, of course, you all knew because of my charm and impossibly good looks! It is I, L’der, bearing a fake sword! Though any real man ought to have an actual sword, everyone knows that!” He attempted to stand and failed miserably, falling back into his seat with a thud.

[Whoo for having time between finishing work and having to go read toa giant audience. Also...I definitely just realized that I'd been replied to before now. So...sorry about that xD work and stuffs. But uh...I'll reply now! ^^; ]
"Well it's been a long enough night anyway," The Shadow replied to the now-revealed rider. She looked at him for a moment, then lifted her hands to the back of her head to untie her mask as well. "I think I've seen you before, but I can't say I've really met you." Tanwen took the simple black mask off and folded her arms, holding the mask loosely in one hand. "I will hand it to you; for the short time it was, you're not too shabby of a dancer."
- - -
While everyone in the room moved to remove their masks and mingle with identities revealed, The Gate Keeper chose to keep the blindfold across his eyes. His real mask was his unfamiliarity with the area, and in fact the blindfold was a common part of his attire - his entire outfit hadn't been a costume at all!
Moving through the crowd and camng to stand by L'der, who'd just fallen over, he leaned casually on his staff. "Well, well," he said, turning his head to face the weyrling on the floor. "It makes me so proud to know that I taught you well enough to become a drunk." Mercer's tone wasn't admonishing, but there was certainly the tone akin to a disappointed parent.

The Dawn sister’s face lit up when The Traveler agreed to her teaching him how to dance. “Don’t worry you’ll do fine! At least you admit you don’t really know how to instead of swaggering around pretending you know what to do.” She nodded as if to emphasize the point. She grabbed the poor boy’s hand to take him out onto the dance floor just as the Herald stopped the music.
“Shards…” she mumbled softly she had wanted to dance. The Dawn Sisters bowed her head as if to hide who she was as she removed her mask carefully. Finally Marletta glanced up her hazel eyes examining the boy for a moment trying to figure out who she had been conversing with for the past couple of moments. “If you want…” she started “I could teach you to dance another time…” she glanced down at the floor again.
((I have one other charrie but that will have to wait I have to write a historic preservation paper @_@))

The Night slipped the mask off of his face, a large grin playing on his lips. He leaned in and placed a loud kiss on Kira’s cheek before standing in front of her. “Sugar! If I knew that was you under the mask, I would have flirted more obviously.” Z’ayr exclaimed with a dramatic wave of his hand. He would have rather danced with another guy, but he figured that would have given him away. Besides, he didn’t mind dancing with girls as long as they didn’t try to get it on with him.
That happened once at his old home, some girl fell for him even though he was so obviously flamboyant. It ended up causing a bunch of silly drama that wasn’t exactly fun. He swatted the girls arm slightly, “You were so well behaved tonight! I didn’t even think that maybe it was you behind the mask.” The Kira he talked to before was loud and very flirtatious. Tonight she had done a job well done, acting more meek.

Sitting at a table just a bit away from the Pirate, the Lake was swishing around some klah in her glass. She watched it swirl around before casting a glance upwards to watch people unmask themselves. She sighed softly. She supposed it was time to take off her mask too since everyone else was. She unbraided the cloth from her hair and removed it from her eyes before placing the blue blindfold on top of the table.
Hasima was flushed slightly, she felt as if she was drowning in the blue fabric she wore. Plus now people knew it was her, it was embarrassing to be seen wearing such a low cut dress. It had been Akki’s idea to act as each other for the Masquerade. While the blue rider tried to act modest, the yellow rider had to act bolder. It was hard for her, Hasima was never the type to say something first. She liked to listen and when she spoke, it was with soft words. When she was standing near Pirate, well L’der now, she was trying to find a way to escape the Masquerade. But when she heard him, words bubbled up inside of her and slipped out.
It was like word vomit, she couldn’t stop it. Next thing she knew she was boldly flirting with the masked man. She couldn’t stop it; the words just kept coming out before she could stop them. She had to admit that it was rather fun, but she was still mortified that such things came from her own mouth. All she wanted now was to go put on some clothes that didn’t show off so much skin.

G'han blinked in surprised. Christae was the last person he would have guessed as the brown dragonet. But he really couldn't complain at all. "Well well. Seems I've got the best luck to be graced with the presence of the weyrwoman. It is truely an honor to have had you as my dancing partner", G'han was very formal when he spoke, and his tone held that of respect, admiration, and perhaps a little more.
The bronzerider couldn't help but think back to the hatching feast, how he had danced with Christae that day. Things seemed to have come full circle now after some turns later, he once again had found himself hand in hand with the weyrwoman. "We should really stop meeting like this", G'han said with a wink, a sparkle in his eyes.
Now if only he knew who the green dragon was. He had an idea, but he really couldn't say for sure. But if he did know the identity of the green dragon, he would be quite surprised and probably more than amused. But for now, the thought of the green dragon was shadowed by the presence of the weyrwoman herself.

K'dan didn't see the swat with the mask coming. "Ak-", he got cut off mid-word as the mask hit him. "Yeah, nice to see you too", he said sarcastically as he rubbed his head. K'dan remembered Akki, and this move shouldn't have been strange to him.
He took a moment to look around the room, to see if he could recognize anyone unmasking. He caught a glimpse of the weyrwoman, she was unfortgettable and even now she was hard to miss. But who was that other one with her. He didn't recognize G'han from behind with his hair grown out. The bronzerider happened to turn to the side for a moment and K'dan focused in on what bit of his face he could.
"Hey Akki. Is that G'han over there? Boy he's changed. Didn't even recognize him at first with his hair grown out like that", K'dan finally spoke to Akki again, pointing over at G'han.

Kira was caught a bit off guard as Z'ayr unmasked and kissed her on the cheek. She held out her hand and rested it gently on his chin, pushing his head back a bit after he had kissed her. "Ever the bold one Z'ayr, kissing me like that. What if I didn't want you to kiss me? What a mess that would have been", Kira' responded in mild flirtation, but the tone in her last couple of sentences revealed she didn't mind him kissing on her at all. As he hand slipped away from his chin, it carressed his skin lightly before she folded her arms and looked over at him, seeming to size up her former dance partner. "Not a bad dancer Z'ayr. I'll have to remember that next time. You know how much a lady loves to dance", she said to him in sweetly flirtation as she winked at him.

Heaven’s Cloud was still thinking about her encounter with the Skybroom, he’d been such a gentleman; of course he’d just been acting the part-no? She was still over at the food table, having wandered her way over there after they’d finished dancing, and had been there ever since. She couldn’t bring herself to dance with another person, it was far too awkward. She wouldn’t have even came but R’xis had wanted help trying to scope out who Akki was and well... she’d blame it on her older brother, like always.
Yes, Heaven’s Cloud was indeed Wolf, which was made all the more clear when she took off her white mask of purity. She gazed about, spotting the face of Akki almost immediately amongst the crowd, by a man she’d never seen before. She’d responded quite sourly to him, which caused her to smile and it was then she decided R’xis had nothing to worry about. How little she knew. She clapped, mainly because she could and continued to scope the crowd as people unmasked.
~ ~ ~
R’xis, having come late, all because he wanted his sister to tell him who she figured Akki out to be after some serious scoping time, had missed out on most of the activities going on. He’d danced with no one, merely observed, and shaking his head when the Green Dragon and the Canine had kissed. He couldn’t stop thinking every girl was Akki, missing the sight of her blond hair. He would’ve given anything to see her face right now, rather than feeling all miserable and depressed because she couldn’t tell him beforehand who she was going as. When it was time for the unmasking R’xis pulled off his mask that had disguised him as the Dragonrider, how unoriginal, yet still very popular! He waited, looking around to see who would be unmasked. He saw Akki then, by a newcomer he didn’t recognize, and beamed. His smile then faltered, and faded away altogether when his gaze flickered over to the Canine-G’han. Had they not kissed? He felt like he was going to hurl now, and it had nothing to do with anything that could be related to L’der’s behaviour. He turned to look back, desperately trying to spot his sister. Once he saw her, standing over by the food table, he quickly got up and ran over to her, not able to get there fast enough.
~ ~ ~
“You oaf!” she hollered teasingly when he slammed into the back of her clumsily. She turned around to face him, seeing that he appeared crestfallen. He was recalling the clean-up, when he’d kissed her, all those things he’d said to her. Why was it that it was so easy for her to disregard him, always?
“Akki and G’han kissed,” he said, the words oozing from him roughly like a near empty tube of toothpaste. Wolf didn’t seem surprised, and that only bugged him all the more. Why could he never be happy for a fair amount of time?
“Okay, well... She didn’t know it was G’han,” Wolf began, seeing the flaw in her argument. The fact of the matter was that she shouldn’t have kissed anyone at all, and that’s what R’xis was trying to get at. It hardly mattered who it was she kissed, if she’d kissed anyone it would’ve been just as bad, it just made R’xis even sourer since he’d had a dislike for G’han when he first met him at the Hatching feast.
“She kissed him Wolf,” he said, falling back on to a nearby chair. Wolf put a hand on her forehead, hating how her brother sounded like he was going to break. “Do I not do enough? Is there something missing? I tell her I love her, isn’t that enough? Is it the se--,” he had been about to say the three letter word that Wolf could never talk about, not with him, not with anyone. “Slow down cowboy, keep your horses away from me,” she instructed, making a face of disgust, tongue out and all. She kneeled down, looking up at him, his head currently hung; taking on a posture of shame. “Listen to me, you know what Akki is like, and you’ve been coming on strong for the past few days. I’m sure if she really wanted-you know-she’s well aware that she can get it,” she said quietly, doing her best to not make a scene. “Then what, what am I to do?” R’xis was really at the end of his rope, he was struggling desperately. “Listen bro’, sooner or later Akki is going to learn the meaning of the word loyalty. Might be in five years,” she teased, shaking her head for this wasn’t a time to joke, “but either way she’ll learn. I have no doubt you’ll be by her side when she does, because you’re far too stubborn to be anywhere else.” “I’m more affectionate with her then she is with me,” he complained, arms crossed over his chest. No matter his tone he looked far from angry, simply sad. “R’xis, it’ll be okay,” Wolf reassured him, sighing loudly. She didn’t know what she was supposed to say, it’s not like she’d ever been in this situation before. She was an outsider, looking-in.
