Kia looked up at G'han, relieved. She told Tokagae to go to G'han and Tokogae finally was not oblivious to the fact that his mind was linked with Kia's. He flew to G'han, resting on his shoulder. Tokagae swung his tail up and wrapped it around his neck. Kia tried with all her might to tell Tokagae to stay up. She went up to the sands and bit her lip as she felt the heat. She lifted her teeth to find that she had made a small cut in her chaped lips and they were bleading a little. She clenched her fists and felt the heat.
At first she just stood on the sands, unsure of what to do. Another candidate came up and bowed solemnly to Kaith. She looked at him carefully and figured she would follow suit. She hoped Kaith would not be mad because it took her so long to bow.
The heat continued to travel straith through Kia's flimsy sandals and burn her feet. She looked at the other candidaes, wondering how they were reacting. She was doing pretty well compared to some others. Kia put her lip in her mouth to swallow the blood so it didn't drip. She looked up at the spectators, realizing she was basically a show. Those with cruel minds might even be looking for her or another candidate to get mauled just for entertainment. She wanted to take a very deep breath but she did not release her lip so she just took a smaller breath through her nose.

Tayrin smiled mischieviously at his fellow Candidate, who did seem a bit shy and contemplative. "I'm Tayrin." He held out his hand to shake. "It's a bit nervewracking out here, isn't it?" He grinned good-naturedly at Kazrael. "What are you hoping to Impress?"

Kazrael was drawn from these new thoughts, by another voice; this one not one of the Weyrdwellers whom he had already become aquainted with. Not so startled this time, he looked back at Kadan and his friend, Tayrin. Uncertainly, he reached out to shake the offered hand, and soon withdrew his own, absently fiddling with his white robe. "My pleasure," he muttered with a short nod, nervously watching the eggs, at the same time that he was trying to avoid doing so. They seemed like they ought to hatch soon...would they do so?
At the other Candidate's next words, he drew his attention back, with a wary smile. "I'm not sure," he stated honestly. "I'd rather Impress at all, regardless of what hue..." He trailed off, thinking, and then recalled that a query in response might be appropriate. "What about you? Most Candidates have some preference..." He trailed off with a quavering grin. It was, perhaps, the first that had adorned his features for some time. Anxiously, he brushed back a dark brown strand of hair, and glanced covertly at the rocking eggs.

Rhia waved at her friends among the candidates. Gylfie was perched on the brownrider's shoulders, hopping up and down with excitement. Rhia saw Daran and smiled. "Daran, come sit with us. You will have a better view." She smiled up at her weyrmate and kissed his cheek. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~` Kaith stopped growling and withdrew. She stayed close to her eggs but she knew that she had to let these humans near so that they could take care of her hatchlings. Christae shifted as the heat passed through her thick boots. She felt sorry for the Candidates in their thin sandlals. The third largest egg split neatly in half, spilling a good-sized bronze onto the sands. The dragonet went sprawling onto the sands, flecks of sand sticking to his wet hide. He uncurled his wings, flat on his stomach on the ground. He began to creel with hunger. His bronze hide was tinged with orange. He started to wander around the sands, looking for his bondmate. A cheer rang through the crowd as the bronze hatched. A Queen egg was on the sands and now a bronze was the first to hatch. That boded very well for the Weyr. Tayrin appraised the nervous Kazrael as rather withdrawn and shy, but was glad to see that he had smiled back and was actually talking.
"Of course I would love a blue or green or whatever color I Impress," he began, "but I keep thinking of riding a brown or a bronze. I just remember a bronzerider that visited our small hold once, and how important he looked, and how confidently he spoke. I wanted some of that importance, since my sharding fostermother never did like me." He rolled his eyes. "One of those women who loves to hear herself talk but doesn't pay attention to what she is saying."

Kadan watched as the bronze came out of its egg. A bronze was a bit too big and clunky for his tastes. But he would take what he could get and bronzes always did rank high. He shoved the thought away, rank was something that shouldn't concern him. Impressing any color was his concern. He looked over around the male candidates wondering who the dragon would choose.

Kia looked at the three boys who had started talking. She wanted to go over and talk to them but with how fast the eggs were rocking, she did not find it good to leave the girl's side. One thousand possibilities of what could happen popped into her head and she held it tightly, her head spinning. She tried to think only positive things but this was a bit nerve-wracking. She looked down shyly at her burning feet. It was ridiculous that they thought a candidate could stand this heat for x amount of time.
She wanted to make converstaion but, to be honest, most of her friends that were candidates were boys. With lack of anything else to do Kia waved across from her.

Breckin cocked his head to the side when the humming first started, making sure it was what he thought it was. He grinned, The Hatching was starting. He raced to the Candidate’s Barracks and shoved the white candidate’s robe on. Breckin glanced around quickly wondering if there was anything he needed, nope. The boy ran off to the Hatching Sands.
-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ R’dan had been assigned to bring several people to the Hatching. He leapt of Jesseth and helped the two passengers off. He pointed them off in the right direction. ~I’m going to watch from the stands Jesseth~ he scratched his dragon’s eyeridges before the brown dragon went to find a spot on a ledge to watch the hatching. Once he found a ledge he began to hum too. R’dan stepped up into the stands searching for a good seat. He found one and sat down rubbing his hands together in excitement and to get rid of the cold of /between./
~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ Breckin made it to the Hatching Sands right before the bronze dragonet hatched. He bowed quickly to the queen and weyrwoman. It wasn’t out of disrespect he just wanted to get to the semi-circle of candidates quickly and out of the way of the hatching dragonets. He took a deep breath and watched as the bronze dragonet spilled out onto the sands.

Kia looked in awe as the dragon fell on his stomach. She looked at the adorable creature and just wanted to go up and pat it. She restrained herself and simply watched, wondering what the dragon would do. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Daran smiled and walked to where the riders sat. He happily watched the new hatchiling at his new view. ooc|| Sorry about that,

Kazrael raised on shoulder in a slight shrug, glancing back over at Tayrin, in a sense that he was being watched... And oddly enough, this didn't really bother the withdrawn candidate. He nodded thoughtful at the other Candidate's words. "I've always admired blues," he ventured quietly, "But there is that something about the larger dragons that is appealing..." He trailed off from what he had been about to say, as the first dragonet burst from it's shell.
And what a dragonet it was, too! The Hatchling was bronze, immistakably so; with the sheen on his hide that characterized the color, and bits of his shell sticking stubbornly to the egg-goo. His attention -briefly- was taken from the dragonet by the other young man's words...which startled a chuckle from him, before he could disguise it with a cough. "Unfortunately, there tend to be too many women like that," he remarked dryly, an uncharacteristic twinkle in his dark green gaze, and tiny smile quirking up his lips.
Then, unable to resist, he glanced back at the bronze hatchling, trying to keep his features indifferent. As Tayrin had mentioned, blues and greens were very appealing, as were the other colors...but something about Bronzes in particular drew the eye, no matter what color one had set their heart on. A faint sigh parted his lips, and he shifted uncomfortably on the hot sands, eyes flickering down to his boots, and back up to the wandering dragonet, and then to the two standing near him. In his haste to reach the sands, he had neglected to don the typical Candidate Sandals...but since it was uncomfortable enough in his boots, he felt mildly glad (if sheepish) about that particular mistake.

The bronze struggled to his feet, his eyes whirling red with hunger. He stumbled towards the line of girls and stopped, cocking his head from side to side as he contemplated them. Sensing that his chosen was not among the line of girls he tried to turn but tripped and fell when his outstretched wings dragged the ground. He wound up spinning around until he faced the girls again.
He snorted and tried to turn around again. He rolled the next time he fell, fetching up against the newly arrived Breckin. He continued to creel with hunger as he looked up at the boy. This was not His. He tried to rise again, gaining strength and coordination with every passing minute.

Kadan laughed, "Yes I know plenty of women like that. My small hold had enough of them". He gazed back at the tiny bronze, who would the dragon choose. He ruled out the girls, but he thought to himself. Miya would probably be the only one if possible to impress a bronze, she definantly had the right attitude for it. He brushed off the thought with a grin on his face then returned his attention back on his friends. He saw Kia wave and waved back to her.
.............................
G'han kissed his weyrmate back. He looked over to the tiny bronze and laughed, ~Look Gerenanth it's a mini you. To think you were that small~. Gerenanth huffed at the idea and greeted Jesseth when he came to the sands. Gerenanth hummed as much as the other dragons.

Kazrael watched the bronze move across the sands with half-lidded eyes, hands twined in the white fabric of his robe. Had the last wearer of this garment fared well? If so, would it's luck carry over to him? He certainly hoped so. A tiny smile twitched across his features as the bronze headed towards the girls; and then turned to move back at the males, realizing that His lay not among the girls. Many hatchlings made that same sort of trek, he thought wryly, wiping a drop of sweat from his forehead.
Smoothing the robe nervously, and shifting his weight to his other foot, the small, rather stocky boy glanced over at the bronze again. This time, he had paused by one of the other male candidates, seeming to study him carefully. Kazrael, unintentionally, held his breath. At the pain in his chest, he let it out in a slow whoosh, eyes large when the hatchling moved on. Who would he choose? The formerly awkward hatchling was gaining coordination, rather than the stumbling steps he had been taking before, there was a confidence there that couldn't be mistaken. Yes, as Tayrin had said, there certainly was something about bronzes... He shook off the feeling that had overcome him, with a faint grimace that soon disappeared.
((Blech...I'll have to go soon. If Kaz Impresses, could I be PM'd? I have a feeling I'll miss a lot...))

At first Miya was interested in impressing the bronze. It seemed powerful and the fact that bronzes were only supposed to impress boys did not matter to her. The dragonet kept falling and she sighed. She could not ride a dragon like that! She turned her eyes back to the eggs wondering if her dragon would hatch next.
--------------------------------------------------------
We are late, the hatching has started. Siarath's voice rang in Nira's head waking the girl up. yes she was sleeping right through the humming. We are late, the hatching has started. Siarath repeted. "What!" Nira shouteed as she bolted up. She ran outside and climbed onto Siarath's back. ~Why didn't you wake me up earlier?~ She asked. I was sleeping. Siarath replied. ~Oh well, we are always late, it si no suprise for us to be this time.~ Nira replied as Siarath landed. Nira jumped off the greens back, who went to sit on a ledge. She took a seat next to Daran. A bronze has already hatched. Siarath reported. Nira turned her eyes to the hatching grounds to see the bronze. ~I see.~ she replied.

Breckin raised an eyebrow the bronze went over to the line of girls. It would be interesting if the bronze impressed one of them, adding to the growing list of females with male dragons. But just as that thought crossed his mind the bronze tried to turn around, it looked like he was going to head over to where he stood with the other male candidates. The bronze took a spill but got up to his feet again but then fell again and landed close to Breckin. The boy held his breath as the bronze studied him. He took a small step away from the bronze, it didn’t look like he was going to choose him and he didn’t want to get scratched by his claws.

Kia's breath whooshed from her mouth and her chest lowered as her lungs deflated. Obviously this Bronze was not wanting a girl and it was no surprise. Tokagae chirped happily from the stands but bellowed quietly when G'han leaned in to kiss Rhia and disrupted his view of the sands.

G'han greeted the greenrider when she came in, "Hey Nira. It seems you are a bit late, a bronze has already hatched". He pointed out the bronze stumbling its way around the sands. Gerenanth greeted Siarath when she came as well.

"I am always late G'han. You should know that by now." The girl smiled, her eyes not leaving the hatching sands. "I see the bronze. It is good that a bronze hatched first, it is supposed to be good luck. I hope the poor dragon doesn't go between." She thought aloud noticing that the bronze had already passed up quite a few candidates.

A blue hatchling burst from its shell, becoming tangled in the shards of its eggs before moving out and jauntily prancing towards the boys. He creeled his hunger. He studied the boys, cocking his head back and forth. His mine was somewhere amongst the boys. Suddenly he lurched forward, and tried to stop in front of one of them. He pitched forward, landing on his nose and crying out in pain and suprise. K'rael your Ioneth hurts! He is hungry. Please feed me and help me up.His blue hide was bright, paler than the normal color recognized with blue. His size was not remarkable. He was the average size for a blue dragonet. His eyes sparkled with the rainbow colors of Impression.

~Pathetic.~ Miya thought as the blue entagled in his own shell. She watched the blue. ~Very pathetic~ She thought again as the dragon fell on his nose. She noticed her impressed Kazrael, or now K'rael. ~Clumsy. I am glad I didn't impress that blue.~ She thought to herself. Her attention turned back to the eggs, waiting for HER dragon to approach her with it's name and hunger.
