[Sorry for not posting before Wolf, I was about to start and then I was reminded that I had to go to Anime Club. ^^; Also...I forgot you bumped into Tanwen xD; sorry]
Tanwen hadn't been paying close attention to Leander after they'd moved towards the middle, and so when his voice suddenly sounded from nearby it took her a bit by surprise, especially when he wrapped his arms around her shoulders from the side in the same moment. The girl's muscles immediately went tense, and her normally straight face did show some emotion. It immediately went to surprise, and directly after changed into a sudden anger. She opened her mouth as if to tell him off when the dragon ambled over and he started talking again, cutting her off before she could say anything and mixing a strange bit of confusion into her expression as well.
She gave her shoulders a rough tug to the opposite side that Leander was on, to try and get the point across that she wanted to be let go, and a few moments after he'd finished with his talking to the dragonet (of course she wouldn't have heard that part) she turned a sharply narrowed gaze on the boy. "Emphasis," she said, referring to the introduction he'd given to the green dragon, "on the der." And with that she brought her arm forward and back quickly, pressing her elbow roughly into the boy's gut. Tanwen stepped forward quickly at the same time in an attempt to wrench his arms from around his shoulders, turning on her heel and facing the boy afterward with arms crossed. "In the future, do your best to keep from touching me." She looked to the green that had come up to the boy, quirking an eyebrow. "Good luck with that one," she said to the dragon. It was the only way she intended on acknowledging the fact that Leander had impressed.

When Khris returned to where the other candidates were, he overheard Tieler and Raska talking in the background of all the noise. At first he paid it not mind, but when he picked up on what they were saying his ears tuned in. It was actually kind of amusing to him, though mostly due to the fact that they probably thought it actually hurt his feelings. He looked over to the two as Tieler was talking it up about his heroism and such, well aware that they were a few years younger and a few inches taller. The boy folded his arms loosely across his chest and looked over to Tieler with a lopsided grin.
"Actually my mother was eaten alive by a wild feline when I was five turns," he tilted his head a bit to the side and pointed at Tieler, "But I'll be sure to ask her if she's proud if I ever get into contact with the dead." He brought his arms back into their folded positions. "And I don't think I'll be needing any help. Being so short and all helps in the agility department." Khris shrugged, "Go on and keep talking though, I'll be sure to let you know if I hear any dragons calling out for a bonded that looks for anything to talk badly about another person. I'm sure there're tons."

The first little green to hatch finally decided to make her choice as the number of Candidates on the sands dwindled. She headed straight for the girls. Kaiya, please feed your Prydath.
There were only three eggs left unhatched, and the water was rising rapidly now. The barrage that Khris, Tikal and Kaellen had made for the two eggs, the large and the smallest was beggining to come apart, sand drifting away as the water lapped up on it. Suddenly, the other egg began to rock and shattered, though the dragonet in it tumbled out into water that was up past her back. Only her neck kept her out of the water, and she was in a panick. Her hide was a sight to see, a blue green that made it almost hard to tell which of the two colors she was. However, the blue was more prevalant, for a blue she was. The second female blue in a quite unusual clutch of dragonets. Her hide was a rich seafoamy teal coloration, swirls of whitish blue playing across it like ripples on the water. The ripple patterning played along the entirety of her shoulderblades, tops of the wings, and down her lower back, ending a little way down the tail. She lifted her wings out of the water, and the underside was a startling, sparkling pale white like the ripple patternings, shining like beacons as she floundered through the water toward a girl who had entered last.
Brileena, help your Zayrith! I don't like the wet! Please get me out of this.
The large egg was starting to crack but something seemed to be hampering the dragonet within. It had chipped away a few shards of egg and the water was beginning to seep in. The dragonet inside began to cry piteously. The last egg was a pearlish-white looking egg that was a lot smaller than the others. Only a few small cracks had appeared on its shell and the water was swiftly rising to engulf it. The sandbags at the mouth of the Hatching Cavern were now useless and water was coming over them in a steady stream. Thunder boomed outside and the wind howled even louder if that was possible and with a sickening sound the sand bags broke completely, letting in even more water from the Weyr Bowl.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Get them off the sands! Get all the dragonets off before the water gets too hot!" Christae yelled and ran from her position at her dragon's side. She began herding the rest of the Candidates and the dragonets who had just hatched off the sands. "Hurry! We will have to sand bag the tunnel to the cavern shut."
"Kaith tell the dragons that can fly to move up to the higher tiers."
All who can fly must move up to the higher tiers so the dragonets can be raised high enough to save them. Now! The Queen's mental voice was a command that no dragon, not even a lesser Queen would dare to disobey.
"Guests, riders, please begin to move towards the tunnel so that we can evacuate the Hatching Grounds as quickly as possible. Please do not panick. You are fine in the stands but we need to start evacuating people starting with the dagonets. Please remain in the sands until the dragonets are out. Then begin filing out of the sands. We can fit two people abreast of each other. Form two lines."
R'yo didn't notice Wolf's expression or the fact that her hand went to her pendant, because R'xis had asked him a question in the next minute and his attention was drawn to the other boy. He looked thoughtful for a moment before he chose to reply, and when he did, it sounded like he was trying to recall his feelings on the matter.
"I don't really know what I expected," he began, and then, "I guess it's hard to say-it was better than I expected, that much I know," he said, scratching Resith's eyeridge with a smile. Suddenly, he heard Christae call out that they needed to evacuate the Hatching Grounds and his gaze was reverted back to the sands. "Oh...my..." he started to say, standing up slowly as he realized the situation down below. It wasn't good.
The waters had begun to flow in and the sandbags were no longer holding them back. The sands were starting to flood-the last dragonet he could see that had hatched had water up to her lower neck-and it was still coming in! He looked worriedly at Wolf and then R'xis, then back to the sands. Evacuate the stands? What about the brown dragonet on the sands still? He was bigger than that little green, but he needed to get out or the water would engulf him!
*My clutchmates, they are down there!* bugled Resith, terror plain in his voice for his brethern. He'd never even had a chance to send anything back to Serinth. Her reassurances were likely appreciated but didn't do much good at this point. The dragonet was worried for the lives of his clutchmates.
R'yo pointed suddenly to something off to the side of Kaith. "There's still two eggs down there!" he exclaimed. They were rocking, but the small white one not so much. He couldn't see if it had moved at all or not-but it didn't matter, they would be swept under the waters!
~~~~~~
Raska listened to what Tieler was saying with a bemused look, but she wasn't really in the habit of just bothering to shoot insults pointlessly at people. Then again, Khris hadn't talked to her, else she might've told him to stuff a sock in it. Usually, she only told people off who really annoyed her, or hit a nerve, or just plain when she was in a really, really foul mood and they bothered her in any way, shape or form. So, all she said in reply to Tieler's rant was, "ooooh. Harsh. Down girl, down." But it was all in her usual good-natured way when dealing with her friend. However, when Khris walked over and began to speak, she raised an eyebrow, crossing her arms over her chest, and narrowing her eyes.
"Listen up, shorty. If your mother's dead, she's probably glad to be, with a disgrace of a whelp like you for a son. If you had as big a brain as your mouth? You'd know that dragonets don't impress based on sharding stupid things like 'who talks bad' and all that. So why don't you just button it, and go sit in on the edge of the sands over there-you see where the water's rising fastest?" She pointed for emphasis, then said, "do us a favor. Go sit there, and drown. That way, we won't have to put up with your annoying, whiny voice any longer."
Tieler was the only one Raska called 'friend' in the Weyr. She'd disregarded the others just as they'd disregarded her, based on appearance, based on her reputation that she'd formed in the short time she'd been here. It was okay for her to blather on about Khris, but it wasn't okay for him to get smart mouthed back. Even if she secretly found Khris comeback rather amusing, she would never have admitted that to him-not where Tieler was concerned. She would loyally defend her friend first and foremost, always.
When Christae's call came, she put a hand on Tieler's arm, and asked, "feel like playing a bit of the 'hero' yourself? See that brown? Let's usher him up into the stands. After that, he can do what he wants, but seriously-I don't really care to see him drown-do you?" she quirked an eyebrow, but didn't wait on an answer. The waters were rising too fast for that. Instead, she said to the dragonet, "yo, you there! Up. There." She ushered him with her hands to make his way up to the stands, walking behind him, wading through the water, glancing back over at Khris. Shorty...he'd better move or he'd have to swim on out!
~~~~~~
Kestrel smiled and nodded to Kaenith, and then said to J'kiran with a small smile, "congratulations." However, the next bit of news came as a surprise to her. She knew that Jil hadn't had a brother when he'd been at their hold-what on earth could him suddenly introducing her to one mean? She raised an eyebrow, and then, "I didn't know you had a brother-er-Ji'Kiran? J'kiran?" She wasn't sure what the shortened name would be. So, to X'ion, "nice to meet you, X'ion-and congrats on your impression." She was suddenly immensely curious as to where this 'brother' had come from. She suddenly recalled the incident between the two the first day of Candidate lessons, though. Now she really wanted to know what was up!
Nyanth inclined his head and cocked it to the side a little as he sent to both Kaenith and Azaranth, *greetings, clutchmates.*However, his attention was diverted to the sands.
Kestrel could see that most of the other Candidates were up in the stands now, and see that dragons were flying up to the highest area, settling down there for the meantime. It then occured to her-how would the dragons present get out of the stands?! The winds were too high for them to simply fly out, that was for sure. Would they be stuck there until the hurricane died down, then? She guessed so-they'd be safe there in either case...
Nyanth seemed content now that he was fed full up. He looked around him with bright eyes and after a moment, asked, *Kestrelmine? Will my clutchmates all make it out in time?* The question was innocent, worried but a little stoic, as if he was contemplating something.
Kestrel glanced back at the sands. Khris was still down there! She frowned a moment-there was nothing she could do. Really, there was nothing anyone could do. She said reassuringly as she could, "the people down there will help them, love. Don't worry too much..." she herself was headed to where Hasima was, wanting her to be the first to meet Nyanth. Nyanth, however, had seemed to accept her reassurances. Part of her wanted to go back down there and help-but really, what could she do? Nothing...
~~~~~~
Hikanth heard Kaith's command and immediately took off with a powerful, sweeping backwing to the higher tiers. No need to tell him twice-not with a command like that.
J'red, meanwhile, watched the sands feeling a little helpless. There were still a couple of Candidates down there, a brown dragonet who hadn't impressed, and a blue and a green that had only just impressed, with water up to their necks! He wanted to go down there, but knew better. The Candidates who were left, would have to handle it. There were three boys and three girls down there who had yet to even impress...and it looked like the at least four of them would not. Since there were only two eggs left, and Faranth knew if they would hatch or no...
~~~~~~
Vyralth, meanwhile, was in quite a fix. He wanted very much to go down there and help the Candidates and dragonets, yet K'tan said he must not, and he knew himself he ought not to. So, he merely gave a sort of helpless creel, and obeyed Kaith's orders to fly up to the highest tier while K'tan looked on contemplatively from where he sat. Would all the dragonets hatch and impress on time, or would this water spell disaster for some of them? He had no clue...
~~~~~~
X'ion gave the girl that he had been introduced to a weak smile. Just because he'd accepted the fact that J'kiran and him were probably brothers, and that they had no choice in the matter? Didn't mean he wanted the other boy announcing it to the whole of the Weyr! He had thought that his discomfort would make it very clear that he wasn't exactly comfortable with this situation. Obviously, J'kiran was a little clueless, or couldn't read people very well. He frowned and his brows furrowed as he mumbled to the girl, "congratulations to you, too..." before he shot a sort of 'look' at J'kiran.
He sighed heavily, and then looked back to the sands, before walking past J'kiran to go up a bit further. "Looks pretty bad down there," he said simply. Azaranth, meanwhile, was watching with concern, and had to be prodded a little to move to a higher spot. Once there, Azaranth sent to Nyanth, *hello to you too. I am watching to see if those of our clutchmates on the sands will be all right.* Azaranth had a kind of gruff voice, like the sound of a person growling and speaking at the same time. However, it was certainly not unpleasant.
~~~~~~
Kaiya was beginning to panic mildly. Not for her own sake, but for that of the dragonets still on the sands, and the three eggs left to hatch as of yet. The water was rising steadily. The shortest of them there, Khris? The water was up to the boy's waist, almost! The situation was bad-the situation was worse than bad. If the dragonets didn't get out of the sands...they'd drown.
Suddenly, when she least expected it, she heard a voice in her mind. It was a sort of silky and soft voice, but confident and bold all at the same time. She looked over and in that moment, with the waters rising and her having been worrying for the dragonets, she impressed her own dragonet.
She wondered what had taken this dragonet so long to choose who it would bond to. The way it had seemed to stare searchingly at everyone-except her and one or two more-had made her wonder. However, where she was standing, and the way she kept moving about? Might have explained it. At that moment, though, it was hard to think about anything. She almost could forget the rising water, forget that she'd been worrying seconds before. "Prydath..." she managed, in a breathless whisper.
*Yes, Prydath is my name,* and then, with a touch of fear in her tone, *you must get me to where my clutchmates are gathering. I do not know if I can swim, and the water, it rises!*
Kaiya was snapped back to reality, as she realized once more where they were. Impression had shocked and startled her into oblivion, but reality was hard pressing upon her. Her dragonet was hungry, and scared, and she had to get her to the stands!
She waded through the ever-rising water, with Prydath by her side, the dragonet able to walk still in the waters but with growing difficulty. She finally went behind the minty green and began to push, so that they went along faster. Finally the got up onto the ramp that lead up to the stands, and out of the water. There were bowls of meat there, ready for the stragglers that remained, and she began feeding her dragonet. She reminded her she needed to chew, and at least for the moment the dragonet was too busy eating to be as worried as Kaiya was about what was happening still on the sands below...
~~~~~~
The situation on the sands was growing steadily worse, and as the waters rose the normally calm crimson haired Candidate began to actually worry. He was so relieved when the minty green and then the blue impressed, but the brown dragonet who'd been there from the very beginning still looked like he was awaiting the arrival of someone. Was someone going to come for him? Did he know that his was nearby? He looked expectant, though maybe a little worried...
Tikal looked down at the water rushing about above his knees. Above his...he looked over at the sand mound that Khris, Kallan and he had built-only to see the large egg was sliding down it, and the white one was wobbling as the sand began to fall away beneath it. He looked beside him at Khris, and said loudly and worriedly, "Khris-the eggs!" However, it was in that moment that Christae's own cry broke the air, and he looked over at Khris, meeting the other boy's eyes meaningfully. What he was about to do, and suggest the other boy do, might have very well been against all rules he and Khris had been told about a hatching. Never touch the eggs that hadn't hatched yet. Never touch a dragonet that hadn't chosen you. Those were two basic rules, but Tikal, for one of the first times in his life, was going to go against them-and he could only hope Khris would agree to do the same.
"Shards to the rules-I'm going to get that small egg-the bigger one has started cracking, help the dragonet get out before it drowns!" he exclaimed. He didn't wait for an answer. If Khris wasn't with him, by the first egg he'd break that other dragonet out himself! He didn't know what that would result in-nor did he care. No dragonets would drown or die while he was yet on the sands!
The water was probably up to Khris' waist by now, and he could see the white egg slipping off the mound, so he threw himself forwards into the shallow water and swam to it-it was far faster than this wading! Once there, he stood up, his robes now sopping wet, and took off the stupid thing, so that he was in the shorts he had worn underneath the things that were dragging him down. He couldn't very well get out of here quickly with the stupid things dragging him down. Then, taking a deep breath, he picked up the egg. He could feel it, something tapping rather more weakly than he'd expected from inside-and shards it was light! Why on earth was this egg so small? How would even a green fit inside here? He was sure it must have been a green, but the green would be so pathetically small...did it matter? The dragonet must have been alive, or it wouldn't be moving inside the egg. He only had to get it to the stands, and put the thing down and let it hatch out-could it hatch out? There was sparse cracks on the very top of the shell, so it was doing something...
Tikal wasn't going to leave the other dragonet in the big egg, so he turned around, hoping that Khris had followed him, not sure how he would do this if he had to do it alone...

[Keee. excitement x3]
It wasn't long at all after her reaction to L'der's embrace that the water really started pouring in. After the surge the water was up to her upper thigh. She stared down at the water and then looked out to the dragonets that were up to their necks in it. When she heard the Weyrwoman call out the order to evacuate she looked over to the woman, understanding that the hatching was over, whether these dragons were ready for it to be or not. She looked over to where Raska had just started ushering after the brown, and stepped over to follow suit. "You heard her," she said to the dragonet. "If you're so keen on waiting for someone, you can do it just as well over there as you can here."
- - -
J'kiran had caught the look that X'ion had shot him after the introduction to Kestrel, and quickly offered an apologetic smile. "I'm sorry," he said earnestly. "If you want to keep quiet about it, I will, but Kestrel is a long-time childhood friend of mine."
Mine! My clutchmates! They're not safe there - they'll drown! Kaenith had gotten to his feet and stepped quickly over to look through the railing of the stands; when J'kiran saw how close the bronze was to the edge he was instantly on his feet and standing beside him. He put a hand on the top of his wing and gently tugged him back.
"There are still candidates down there to help. See? They're already trying to get the brown to safety, and your green sister just impressed." He looked over to where the eggs at the edge were clearly still in danger and furrowed his brow lightly. I'm sure they'll do their best to take care of them all, Kaenith. We should move back to make room for the others, though, like the Weyrwoman said. With a bit more coaxing he managed to get the bronze back against the wall of the stands and settled down. His eyes were still spinning with the whites of worry, but he no longer seemed about to jump over the edge with panic.
- - -
Khris didn't make a verbal reply as Raska tore back into him; he actually found it a bit amusing. In the past he'd had others take shots at him - both verbally and phsyically - but never quite to this extent. They were really trying. "A favor?" he said, "Right over there? Well I'd--" he cut of abruptly as the surge of water came around them, stepping back to regain his balance when his legs were almost pulled from underneath. Immediately he turned and looked back to where the eggs at the edge were - the other candidates would care for the dragonets.
He saw the eggs begin to slide under at the same time that Tikal did, and he heard the dragonet screaming inside the larger one as well. It was a strange feeling to hear it both audibly, mixed with the din of the chaos around, and to hear it to some extent mentally. There weren't any words, but it was definitely in his mind as well. It was a screech, he thought, more painful even than the ones that the dragon had been giving the day he'd arrived. The voice of a hatchling, an unimpressed and panicky hatchling, was far stronger than any dragon paired with a rider. He felt lost at the sound, unsure for a moment as to whether he really was doing Raska a favor and drowning, because that's what this screech was. It was dying.
Tikal calling his name snapped him out of the frozen state he'd been rendered in, he looked over to the other boy and met his gaze; Khris was on board even before Tikal made his next comment. He threw himself into the water, also opting for swimming rather than walking, and going under in a way that may have been the cause of Tikal being unsure if Khris'd been following him or not. He was completely underwater for most of the way, and when he resurfaced near where Tikal was he turned and pressed his back against the larger egg, trying to force it up onto the sand and the remains of the broken shells. Once he'd pushed it as much as he could he turned and got to his feet; the water was just starting over his waist line at this point.
Khris cast his gaze around before dropping under the water again. He came up with a large piece of broken shell and stepped towards the larger egg. "There's no way we're carrying this thing," he said, half to Tikal and half to himself. Without another word of explanation, he lifted the shard. "If you can hear me," he thought, wondering for the first time if his HAD abilities went beyond simply hearing, "Push!" Khris brought the hard piece of shell down where the crack had begun to form, wedging it between the crack and then pulling it to the side in an attempt to pry the break further. If that didn't work he'd revert to kicking the thing open, but he would get it open.

Sorcha gasped as one of the eggs closest to the waters hatched. She hoped that some Candidate would run down and help it despite the rules. Either that or it would Impress quickly. She watched the dragons fly higher and she herself moved so that the newly Impressed dragonets and Weyrlings would have room to get into the stands and off the hot Sands. All she could do is hope the dragonets and two remaining eggs would find their partners.
~~~~~~~
Kallan sighed and made his way to the stands. He'd wanted a little dragonet. Then again there were still three chances, eh? And if not, this place was interesting enough. He eyed the brown before retreating into the stands and turning back to watch what was left of the clutch. He really hoped the last few made it. Although, it would be a fine clutch nonetheless; but a few dragonets lost would really dampen the festive spirit of the feast later on...well, he wasn't sure they'd make it to the kitchens what with that storm going on out there. Still, something would happen and they'd all be saved, right? They were little dragonets and couldn't die.
His eyes went wide as two boys suddenly popped up from under the water and started messing with the two eggs nearest the opening. Aww man, they were doing it without him. He huffed, why couldn't he have fun too? He wondered if any would stop them, he figured not as everyone wanted to see those two survive no matter what the costs.
~~~~~~
Not even thinking of her distaste for the draconic species Satnee picked up Elieth and moved up into the stands, She didn't stop until she was well away from the water. She pushed away the thought that she might be worried for the stupid green and just reminded herself that she was doing her duty as a new dragonrider. It seemed very confusing to be one of those she hated.
I can walk you know. Although I didn't want to get any more sandy than I was, so thank you.
Satnee frowned at the green, "I didn't ... ugh, just forget it. Hush, until we find out what we're doing next I don't want you to ... do anything, just stay." She gingerly placed the green down and trusted that no one would step on the small dragonet. After all, didn't the whole planet just adore the beasts? She discovered she was panting, for such a small being they could be particularly dense and heavy. After assuring herself once more she was safe from the water, Satnee sat down to catch her breath.
~~~~~~
K'nest jerked slightly as suddenly all the dragons moved up, almost at the same time. He supposed the Queen had said something to them, but it was kinda odd for Temesth to just obey and not fight leaving him. Golds did have that power, even for separation anxiety blues, he guessed. Following the flow of people he moved over and watched as the newly Impressed pairs started making their way out of the suddenly deadly Sands. He wished he could do something, but this was a hatching, it really was up to the Candidates to show their stuff. Show they were worthly of a little hatchling. Even if he did help, he wasn't going to help the dragonet for long, it would between without their partner nearby. He just wished that humans had the same senses about who their bonded would be. Then they could just get their dragonet out of the egg and out of danger.
Brileena immediately rushed toward the dragonet, tripping once on her way, "I'm coming Zayrith!" she said in a huff, doing her best to get to the little blue-green's aid as quickly as she could manage, uncaring to anything else in the caverns. She reached her own little beauty and wrapped her arms around her, pulling her with strength she didn't know she had towards where the others were climbing up the seats from the audience.
The queen's orders rumbled in little Zayrith's mind and she began to creel softly, Up, we must go up Brimine! she said, though she didn't really understand what it meant in its entirety. Her eyes were whirling a fast red, the rainbows from Impression all but faded, though other colors hinted at the edges from time to time, she was frightened and did not know what to do other than to reach out to her own.
Brileena was already whispering comforting nonsense to the little dragonet as she pulled her out of the deeper water towards the steps so that the dragonet could touch the ground fully and could walk on her own. Of course the further out of water she was pulled the heavier little Zayrith became more and more calm and quickly cooled the moment she could fully support herself. The dragonet was hungry, and Brileena could tell, but she said nothing of food, instead beginning to insist that they hurry up and away from the water. Brileena agreed and followed as quickly as she could manage, the immediate danger subsiding from her own mind so that the love and adoration of having her own little dragonet overflowed her mind. Unfortunately the realization of how close they had come and how close they still were to danger swamped her, making her hands shake as she laid soft fingers on the wet hid of her own little dragon.
The egg that Khris was trying to break finally cracked open and fell apart, dumping its contents and a pile of shards right in front of Khris. On top of the pile was the body of a dragonet that had not finished forming. The general shape of the creature was finished but its eyes had not developed and it was obviously dead. It seemed that the creature did not have enough nutrients to finish forming. It happened in dragons eggs and normally the clutch-mother pushed that egg aside and the Weyrwoman quietly disposed of it, but for some reason Kaith had not pushed aside this egg.
Khris staggered back through the water as the shell finally broke apart, though once the contents spilled out into the water around him he had the feeling he'd had no help with the breaking from any dragonet within. The boy dropped the shard he had in his hand and looked down to the deformed corpse, furrowing his brow in a strange mixture of horror and confusion. "But..." he said, half to himself and half to the nearby Tikal. "But there was something inside. I...heard it." The boy stepped forward and gently nudged the deformed un-hatchling, but there was no question that this thing hadn't made it. Whenever it had finally given up, it was far sooner than today. Apparently there had been no dragonet within the shell to make any screech or plea for help. Maybe...maybe he was losing his mind after all?
[Very quick one, and short ^^; I was just getting Khris' reaction in there between events]
A muffled cry came from under the body of the dead dragonet. K'ris! Help your Queroth Please. I am stuck. The voice was panicked. The dragonet was lodged under the body of its dead twin. Twin dragons had never before been seen in the weyr and it was obvious that the egg hadn't been big enough for both dragonets to survive. One had died and the other had lived, though he was very small. The dragonet beneath was a deep, blue black color with streaks of lighter and darker colors that almost looked like camoflauge but was blue and black. His neck ridges and along his back like a dorsal stripe were a pale, sky blue. The stripe ran from the tip of his nose to the tip of his tail. He was a Hawk's Eye and his dead twin was the Tiger's Eye.
The egg that Tikal was holding seemed to shudder from the inside. The dragonet within began making muted tapping noises against the shell but they were growing fainter as time went on. It was almost as if the dragonet inside was losing the energy that it needed to break out of the shell and needed help.
~~~~~~~~~~
Christae looked up from herding the rest of the Candidates out and noticed that there were still two of them out there.
"You two get out of there. The water will start boiling soon!" She saw the pile of shells and the prone form of a dragonet. "Oh no." She groaned. One of Kaith's eggs hadn't finished forming and a dead dragonet was on the sands.
Kaith we are going to have to get that body out of there and bring it *between.* Otherwise it will decompose in that water and contaminate the sands.
K'ris needs to get his brother out of the mess before the body can be moved.
"Twins?} Christae was stunned. The giant Queen didn't answer but began to wade towards the boy and the body of the dragonet. She waited until the body had been pushed aside and the dragonet beneath was uncovered before taking the body of the dead dragonet in her claws and picking it up out of the water. It was a sad thing but it happened. She brought it away from the rising water and placed it towards the back of the tiers where it would not be in the water. As soon as the water receeded she would take it *between* to give it a proper dragon burial. All dead dragons went *between*.

Tikal wasn't having any troubles with the egg he was carrying. Light as could be, it was, and he almost wondered momentarily if it might be a dud. But no-surely there was some weight to it-no matter how light, he was sure a green was inside there-though a really, really small one. He glanced to where the female Candidates moved off the sands-was the dragonet for one of them, perhaps? He felt a little guilty at the fact that he might be carrying someone else's dragonet. However, when all was said and done, he was sure they'd be glad he had! Rulebreaking...it was necessity here, not rebellion.
He looked over just in time to see Khris' egg break open. What he saw, however, inside that egg? Made him want to be a little sick. As a healer, you dealt with death on occasion. But he felt completely terrible as he saw what was in that egg. It was a dragonet, all right-but not living. Its eyes weren't even formed, and it was certainly dead. However, it puzzled him-when Khris had been working on that egg, when he'd been packing sand around it...hadn't it been rocking? He knew enough about stillborn creatures to know that this creature had died before this. From what it looked like, it had not been strong enough to finish growing to maturity. So why had the egg been rocking? The thought disturbed him, but he didn't have much time to think on it.
The tapping he could hear and feel from inside of the small egg he carried was consistant at first, but unlike what Tikal knew of how dragons hatched, they got stronger and more persistant as they tapped away. So why was the tapping inside growing fainter and fainter? Shouldn't it be getting stronger? He suddenly felt his stomach turn, thinking of the dead dragonet, and how aweful Khris must have felt seeing that up close. He had a look, but not first hand like that. Not right in his face, when he'd been trying to hatch the thing out...now, he paused where he was, his mind arguing with itself. The tapping had almost stopped. That, he knew, wasn't normal. Wasn't right.
There were people up in the stands. Everyone was watching, everyone could see. The egg's dragonet, the green that had been tapping with a fair consistancy-he was sure by now it was green, too light for anything else-stopped. His stomach turned, he watched Kaith draw nearer, and he didn't know what to do. As a healer, oftentimes when something went wrong and there was nothing to do, you had to make calls on what you thought you should do...but this wasn't healing. This was already technically breaking a big rule that Rhia had given them. Don't touch the eggs...because if the dragonet couldn't get out by itself, then it wasn't strong, wouldn't likely survive. But it was a flood-things were very different. It wasn't this dragonet's fault...but then again, regardless, it wasn't hatching out on its own. It was too weak to get out. It should have...been left.
Tikal couldn't bear to do it, though. He looked up at Kaith, over at the Weyrwoman, and up at all those people up in the stands. "Shards..." he muttered, and then broke an even bigger rule. He stopped where he was, and broke open the egg. He broke the egg without the dragonet doing so itself, he broke it and pulled off the top of it, trying not to dare to look inside, because whatever was in there could be meant not for him, but for someone else. But he couldn't just let it die-he couldn't live with letting a dragonet die. He'd rather be sent away from Dark Moon than live with a dragonet's death on his hands. So, so be it. Everyone could see what he'd done, and there was no hiding it. He held the egg away from him at arm's length, silently praying he'd make it to the stands in time for it to find who it was meant for...he'd made his choice, and there was no going back now.

Khris' eyes flashed wide once more at the muffled sound coming from within the shell. The water was still rising, and it was dipping further into the egg now that it was broken open. The boy stepped forward to move the crippled form aside when a voice struck against his mind. He froze. There was something distinctly different in this dragon's voice. He'd heard the tone a dragonet's mental voice took on when it impressed more than enough today, but it was different this time. It was stronger, almost like it was echoing through his skull and winding itself with his own mind at the same time. He knew that no matter how many dragons he heard chattering throughout his life, this voice would always be recalled instantly.
Mine! A weak scraping of claw on shell mixed with a feeble splashing sound came about at the same time. K'ris snapped out of his frozen moment and pushed the un-hatchling aside, giving it one last tug to dislodge it from the broken shell as he did so. As soon as he saw the blue-black nose pushing up from the gook inside, he reached into the mixture of egg sludge and water, found the dragonet's shoulders, and pulled.
Shards! he sent to the dragonet, feeling a flash of worry as the water lapped at his chest now. You really are stuck! He brought his foot up and stepped on the edge of the shell, pushing all his weight onto it and hearing a satisfying crack!. The wall of the shell gave way and the rest of the goop fell out, letting more water in but also freeing the little hawk. K'ris glanced over his shoulder to the edge of the sands and then turned, holding under the little dragon's arms as he did so. Hang on, Queroth. he said seriously, hooking the hawk's forearms over his shoulders and reaching around to hold his back legs. Luckily enough, the stunted size of the little dragon made it possible for K'ris to carry him.
Hurry, K'rismine! the hatchling screeled as he spoke, clinging onto the robe around K'ris' shoulder. The wet is still coming! His wings dragged in the water behind him, floating along the surface as K'ris trudged forward. As he stepped closer to the edge the water level rose from the footing beneath him, getting to shoulder-level on the boy. The wet sand underfoot didn't help much. He adjusted his grip on Queroth and lifted his own head a bit; just as the water started at his chin he felt the step up onto the platform of the stand and pulled himself and his dragon up.
The boy only allowed himself a short sigh of releif, but he kept going towards the stairway into the higher stands. Once he reached a point where the only water touching him was stuck into his cloths he felt the adrenaline die down a bit. Okay, Queroth? he looked to the blue-black head craning over his shoulder, not minding in the least that he was a bit heavier without the water around them. The dragon crooned in releif, a bit of the white in his eyes swirling to give way to the rainbow that was still present. K'ris took the last step up to the level the rest of the new weyrlings were on and smiled, immediately dropping down onto his knees to gently let the dragon to the ground, and then turning to face him.
You saved us! the little hawk trilled, stepping forward and nudging at the boy's chest. I chose well. he said matter-of-factly, then turned to look around the level of the stands they were on. It was so hard to get out of that egg, Mine. I'm so hungry! Can't you feed me now? K'ris nodded immediately, his mind spinning from everything that had just come about. The panic, the energy used, the adrenaline...
Impression. He'd impressed.
K'ris broke into a grin and nodded once more. "Of course, right. Yeah." He put his hand against the railing and pulled himself to his feet, resting a hand against the back of Queroth's head and nudging him away from the stairs. "Lets find some meat for you." As he stepped forward he glanced behind him and then back to the sands, briefly wondering over how Tikal had done with saving the egg he'd grabbed.

The dragonet inside the egg Tikal had broken open didn't move for a few moments. He could see the light and feel the rush of air where there had been none before but he was surprised. He hadn't expected to be able to get out. The egg's membrane was thicker than usual and he was so hungry and almost too weak to lift his head.
Finally he ventured to lift his head out. His mind voice was faint as he called out to his chosen. He would feel stronger when he had eaten but for now he had to rely on his bonded. T'kal, feed your Sarcth please. The little dragon was all colors and none. His hide shone with a pearly white hue and the only definite color was the grey edges that were on his neck ridges and wings. The grey had the same pearly look to it as the rest of his hide and it set him apart from other white dragons, for a white he was.

Whatever Tikal was confused when he saw Khris bend down and begin tugging at what he took to be the dead dragonet in the egg. While it seemed like a respectful thing to do, it almost looked like...could that be possible? He almost forgot he was holding the small egg that he'd just ripped the top of the shell off of. He watched, eyes rather wide as he saw what Khris was doing. There were not one but two dragonets in that egg! Had something like that ever happened before? It suddenly made a whole lot of sense why the other dragonet hadn't lived. If there was a live one in there, chances were there wasn't enough nutrients to keep them both alive-or maybe not enough room. The dragonet that Khris pulled out was smaller than any of the greens he'd seen so far. It looked healthy, and was not a color he'd ever seen before. Was it another mutated dragonet? He'd seen two here in the Weyr so far. One had been what they called a 'Moonstreak' and the other one had been yellow-not gold, but yellow. Well, it was a dragonet, alive and well looking. It was sad that the twin hadn't made it, though. He frowned, suddenly remembering he really, really had to get moving.
Tikal began to move once more, but then he stopped dead in his tracks. It felt like his heart had skipped a beat. He felt something he'd never felt before, as he looked down into the eyes of the smallest dragonet he'd ever laid eyes on. He had thought that the egg contained a green, but he had thought entirely wrong. The dragonet inside the egg was not really any color at all-he was a white! And he had just spoken inside Tikal's mind, a voice that was familiar to him as if he'd always known it somehow, and he immediately felt the feelings of love and protectiveness wash over him. He could sense the tiny white's feelings-it had been scared it wouldn't get out of that egg, had almost resigned itself to die since it wasn't strong enough to hatch itself out. He suddenly didn't care if he got into trouble, or had to leave the Weyr. He had his Sarcth, and nothing could separate them or change that. However, he could feel how unbelievably weak the dragonet was, and a touch of fear hit his mind, too. This dragonet wasn't healthy like Khris had been. It was too unnaturally small, and by the 'rules of nature' it shouldn't have survived at all-it wouldn't have, if he hadn't helped it out.
The membrane of the inside of the shell was thicker than it should have been, from what he could see-a double reason why the dragonet had likely had so much trouble with hatching. Tikal pried the rest away, until all that was left was the white dragonet in his arms, for anyone who looked to be able to see. The dragonet was only as long as probably around 2 feet. Maybe an inch or two more, but for all the world he looked to be the size of a full grown green firelizard-not a dragonet hatchling. He was even lighter now that he had no heavy shell and goop on him, and for a moment Tikal almost feared-no, T'kal almost feared, that the dragonet wouldn't make it. However, he could feel the strong desire in the little creature to survive, to live, and a sense of optimism that made him smile. Sarcth would live, and would grow into a healthy dragon-he would never let it be otherwise.
The water was still rising, but he carried the dragonet in his arms with ease. He looked down when the dragonet spoke, though it didn't lift its small head from where it rested on his arm. Instead, it just turned it ever so slightly, and sent, *I am so hungry, T'kalmine...and tired...*
Tikal tried to hurry his pace, cursing the waters that were making his progress so hindered. However, he too made it to the stands, feeling suddenly tired himself. He had to get food into the dragonet. It needed food to be strong, and to get better. He had a feeling that things would be rough with the little dragonet for the first few days, but also had a strong feeling that it would be all right eventually. He would take good care of his dragonet, and be sure that it got even more care than most, to ensure this.
He nodded and smiled at K'ris, saying, "congratulations. What's his name?" However, he spotted a bucket of meat, waiting for the 'stragglers', and immediately took out the smallest piece of all, tearing it in half, even though it wasn't that easy to do so with raw meat. He offered it to Sarcth, who took it in his mouth and began to chew hungrily. Even in a weakened state, the little dragonet had a will to it that surprised T'kal.
Tikal looked back down to the sands. They were empty now-all the dragonets had made it out in time. However, now what? Obviously, there'd be the hatching feast. Even in the hurricane, that wouldn't have been put off. He would keep Sarcth with him, and carry him everywhere until he felt well enough to walk on his own. He could see that some people were filing out, even if dragons were forced to wait for the winds to die down before they could leave.

I’m full now, and you’ve successfully managed to remove the sand off of me. Dinayth said daintily, a small hint of praise in his voice as he twisted his neck to survey his sand-less hide. Dinayth turned and looked up towards Z’ayr, flicking his tail contently. Mother says to move up into the sands. The effeminate blue relayed, turning and heading towards the sands, leaving Z’ayr to scramble after him. Oh yes, it was quite obvious that Dinayth was going to be quite the prissy dragon. “Your attitude right now? Sooo not fab.” Z’ayr replied with a roll of his eyes, however a small smile played on his lips.
Z’ayr let his smile grow quite large as Marletta found him. “His name is Dinayth.” He said with a nod. He leaned in close and whispered, “I think he’s even more flamboyant than me, to be honest.” He rolled back onto the balls of his feet. “What’s her name? She’s really quite pretty.” He said with an affirmative nod, just in case the girl and dragonet didn’t believe him.
---
“Oh shards.” Akki murmured under her breath as Khris and Tikal attempted to pry open the eggs. This hatching was having too much going on at once, her mind couldn’t handle it. She slumped slightly, as a dragonet slumped from an egg, unmoving. It was obvious that this one had not made it, had not survived. A wave of despair seemed to travel over everyone for a brief second, until a critter moved underneath the body. Her hand fluttered over her chest for a second, it was a sad and joyous event all at once. One of the twin dragonets had survived, while the other did not. However, the bluerider knew Khris would take good care of the mutant.
She grinned as Tikal Impressed, glad that he did. She couldn’t help but wince slightly at the dragonets color. A white dragonet, it reminded her very much of Nike, which happened to bring a fair number of painful memories. She watched as Ebbeth and Rimith flew up higher, allowing the dragonets to have more room to come onto the sands. This white dragonet was not Rith, and the new weyrling was not Nike. As far as Akki was concerned, these two would make better decisions. At least she hoped so. She would smack the boy across the head if he made a bad one. Former Assistant Candidate Masters could do that, right?

Satnee frowned as she started wiping off Elieth. She'd just thought the green had a lot of sand on her, but now she noticed the silvery white dots. She supposed that made sense, each dragon had something different about them that made it easy to spot who was who. She just didn't expect to be thinking of a dragon in terms of beauty. Quit thinking about how beautiful I am and clean off my wings now. After that get me out of here, I'm a little sleepy. After the strain of leaving her egg and then a full belly, it wasn't that hard to see why she'd be tired. Satnee shook her head, some things were universal whether you were a hatchling or infant.
She rose and dusted her hands off to rid them of sand before glancing upwards. Her mouth opened a bit when she saw two more hatchlings being brought up from the Sands. She heard the whisper of twins and noticed the one who didn't make it. She never had pretended to like dragons much, but she never really wished them ill. She watched the Gold pull the body away for going Between.
~~~~~~~
Kallan sighed when he saw the one egg split open with the body. Well, it was a good try. And they wouldn't be saying ... What was he doing? He watched in fascination as Khris pulled a live dragonet from the egg. Then prompted by a smattering of applause from a few others he joined in on celebrating the Impression. Almost at the same time the other kid he hadn't officially met, found a white in the other egg. He'd thought the yellows was small. He wasn't sure if this one was smaller or not. Then again, by now the yellow was as big as she was going to get and the white was just a little hatchling so it was hard to judge. While he was sad that one didn't make it, he was glad that the two who were alive had been saved. His eyes widened at the thought of what would have happened if they hadn't choosen to run out there again. He shook his head, it all turned out fine, that's all that mattered.
~~~~~~
Well, guess that wraps up the hatching. He sighed, it was a good thing hatchings only happened once a year. Well, maybe two with the new Queen, but any more and his nerves wouldn't be able to take it. The almost misses, the developments, yep K'nest wasn't in a hurry to redo this again. It made his Hatching seem really tame in fact. I don't know about you Temesth, but I'm certainly ready to just sit down with the new weyrlings and enjoy those who Impressed. The sight of the ones who didn't Impressed was kinda of bothering him, but he didn't let that detract from the happiness of so many good hatchlings coming from it. The blue dipped his head slightly, Yes, I am glad that this wasn't my hatching either. It would have made my wait even more miserable. And I wouldn't have spent this year with you already. K'nest didn't want to think of what might have happened if Temesth had felt rushed or hurried. At least he'd been nearby and that's all that mattered.

Rolaranth followed Kaith’s orders without a word. The wind had picked up again so getting up to a higher tier was a bit of a challenge. With some clever maneuvering, however, he was up and out of the way. Sh’rel’s attention was still on the sands. The water was still rising, and it was already up to the waist on the shorter boy. Sh’rel cursed under his breath as the egg was broken open revealing a dead dragonet, and yet the boy remained near the egg. It looked as if Khris was… looking for something, but what? The dragonet was dead, there was no way that thing could have survived to hatching. The Brownrider stood up as he watched the live dragonet appear from underneath his dead twin.
Twins? And mutant twins at that. Well, this Weyr did certainly have some surprises. The boy that had been carrying the egg had placed it down and was now breaking it open. Another mutant hatched, a white this time. Sh’rel clapped for the two impressions and moved towards the tunnel as Christae had ordered and joined one of the lines.
-- “Oh really?” Marletta said with a grin, “You’ve only just impressed how can you be sure of that?” She giggled as she tried to imagine what Dinayth might be saying to his rider. “This is Issaeyith” Marletta replied to Z’ayr’s question. “And thanks. Dinayth is quite handsome as well.”
Issaeyith had hidden, as well as she could, behind Marletta as Z’ayr had made his way over. The rainforest shaded greened peeked out from behind the girl and said to the blue, Hello clutchbrother, how are you now?
Marletta scratched the green’s eyeridges as well as the brown flitt’s who stayed hidden on her shoulder beneath her hair. The girl glanced over to where Christae was, “I suppose we should do what she says and evacuate?”

The water was still rising as the last of the Hatchlings and their Chosens made their way out onto the tiers. The spectators in the Stands were waiting for the signal to move into the tunnel at the back of the Hatching Cavern.
The last hatchling without a Chosen found one lad from a Miner Hold that was on the edge of the Stands with his family. The lad happily led the brown to where Rhia was beckoning with a bowl of meat scraps.
"Weyrlings, report to me." Rhia called. Mneith was standing on the lowest dragon tier watching his Chosen and their new pupils. Pretty soon he would have to move up to escape the water but for now it was just lapping at the base of the tier. The dragonets and the spectators would have just enough time to leave the Cavern before the water rose into the tunnel. Some of them would have to wade through water even though the tunnel was pretty high up in the cavern.
The full-grown dragons bugled as the last Impressions were made. They settled down to wait for the wind to stop howling outside so that they could return to their respective weyrs. The Hatchlings had made it out safely with the exception of the little mutant's twin, but he had died before he had even had a chance to Hatch and his death was routine. Kaith would take care of his body and the memory would fade from her mind and the minds of every other dragon in the Weyr.
Christae sighed with relief when the last of her dragon's children found his chosen. What could have been a disaster was averted. Now she had to get her people and guests out of the Cavern safely. Drudges were standing by, waiting to sandbag the tunnel just in case the water rose past the lower tiers and spilled into the tunnel. The Lower Caverns were already blocked with sandbags and there were drudges keeping close watch to make sure the bags didn't break and let water spill into the Weyr. This hurricane was one of the worst that the Southern Continent had seen in Turns but the people of the Southern Continent were resilient. They would rebuild.
"Weyrlings, we need you to move out." Christae walked from her dragon's side to join Rhia in directing the young Weyrlings. "Dragonets and Weyrlings first. Through the tunnel. Rhia will lead you through the tunnel. I will direct them from here."
Her WLM nodded. and turned to the young dragons and their riders. "Follow me, dragon and rider side by side. Don't crowd each other. Leave a bit of space between you and the pair in front of you. There is no need to panic or rush but we must move quickly. The sooner we get you out the sooner we can put your dragonets to bed and have the Hatching Feast. We will set up a place for the dragonets in the Dining Cavern. It will be somewhat crowded and noisy but your bondeds won't hear it. They will be too tired and will sleep soundly. By the time the feast is over we will have a few rooms set up for you with cots and makeshift dragonet beds. I suspect that the Weyrling Barracks have some water in them. We will get to cleaning them as soon as we can. Your belongings in the Candidate Barracks will be brought as soon as we can get them. If there is water damage we will replace it. I think the Candidate Barracks are a bit higher than the W'ling Barracks so we might be able to avoid too much damage and the Drudges sandbagged the opening before the storm hit."
Rhia kept up a steady stream of commentary to take the Weyrlings' minds off of the rising water and the danger. The dragonets were panicked enough without catching worry from their riders.
Follow at your riders' sides little ones. The giant brown crooned from his perch, sending love and encouragement to his rider. Rhia flashed a quick smile towards the brown and then turned towards the tunnels. "Let's get moving."

Tanwen stood off back towards one of the walls to keep out of the way as they herded the Weyrlings and their newly hatched dragonets out through the tunnel. She wasn't particularly distraught over not having impressed, it was almost like she'd known when she'd stepped into the hatching that it'd turn out that way. She'd never really been one to speculate how dragons and their riders ended up being chosen for one another, but for all she knew it had something to do with how her dragon - if she were to have one choose her at any point in time - was obviously not here.
Once the Weyrlings were filed out and the left-over candidates were set to head out, Tanwen would follow behind them.
- - -
There, you see? Everything turned out all right after all. J'kiran gently rubbed the back of Kaenith's head. The bronze crooned softly in reply, looking up to his Bonded.
Yes Mine, Kaenith sees! J'kiranmine was right all along. My clutchmates were taken care of.
J'kiran looked over up at the call to file out, keeping his hand on the back of Kaenith's head so he could gently lead the bronze dragonet in the right direction. Time to go, he said. You certainly must be getting tired too, hm? I'm sure a bed must sound very nice right now. The dragonet crooned once more in reply and eagerly followed J'kiran out, looking back around to try and find out where Azaranth and X'ion had gone. The red-head looked back as well, guessing as to who the bronze was searching for because he himself was wondering the same thing, then looked back down to Kaenith.
Don't worry, I'm sure we'll see them during the feast at one point. And after, too. In fact, he was quite certain that they would be seeing a lot of the other pair. It wasn't every day that you found yourself a brother, after all. J'kiran gently nudged Kaenith towards the exit and followed out through the tunnel indicated.
- - -
K'ris had slumped down on the floor and leaned against the wall. It hadn't taken long to finish satisfying the little hawk eye's hunger once he'd found the right pace to feed meat at, and soon after that the little blueish-black had lain down on the floor beside the blond and laid across his legs. Frankly, K'ris was exhausted. He'd just been through quite the ordeal, and it'd been tiring on him both phsyically and mentally. The boy had the feeling that he was just about as tired as Queroth was right now.
You would be feeling right, Mine. Qeuroth replied to his Bonded's unspoken thoughts. K'ris yawned and let his head fall back against the stone of the wall, just about to let his eyes drift shut when the sound of the Weyrwoman's voice called out over the Weyrling chatter. They had to move again? Well...he'd figured they wouldn't be spending the night there in the stands, but part of him had irrationally thought that maybe there'd be time for a rest.
"Ah, well," he muttered to himself, gently nudging the dragonet off his lap and slowly pulling himself to his feet. "Come on, Queroth. The sooner we get finished with this feast, the sooner we can get some shut eye." The dragonet mirrored his rider's actions, and stood up in a way that made it seem like it was the most difficult thing in the world; he looked up to K'ris.
Maybe K'rismine was thinking of carrying Queroth again? he asked hopefully. K'ris quirked an eyebrow but gave a short laugh, then shook his head.
"Queroth, you're as big as I am. I couldn't carry you again if I wanted to." The boy ran his hand along the little dragonet's head for a moment and then started after the crowd of Weyrlings that were making their way out. He kept towards the back of the crowd though, since he'd been so close to the back anyway. Very likely he'd be right at the point where the Weyrling group met the Candidates group.

The situation down below had most certainly become a panicked one, and there was nothing that either the Goldrider or the Brownrider could do to aid the situation. Going down there and becoming just another body attempting to avoid the rising water would only make matters worse. "R'xis," Wolf whispered to her older brother, leaning close so that Rhiyo and Resith wouldn't be in hearing range. "There are still eggs down there that have yet to hatch," she cried, hating this feeling of hopelessness. There was just things that were beyond even her control, it made her downright nauseated.
WolfMine, there is no need to fear. These matters will be taken care of, simply watch the bond between the dragonet's and their human partners unfold. Wolf turned her head of blond-brown-colored hair to where Serinth was eying her. I've always put my faith in you Serinth, this time is no different. Serinth gave a nod of her head, turning her gaze to the HAD boy. He'll make a fine rider, she told Her's. Wolf squinted her eyes, looking down at him-keeping an open-mind. It wasn't long before she gave the response: Yes, I believe he shall.
R'xis, in the meantime, was looking over to where he could see Akki. He wondered how his girlfriend... Admin's Note:
Weyrmate? He wasn't really sure what the proper title was, however, he was wondering how she was responding to the situation. He excused himself, passing Wolf and R'yo. He turned to place a hand on the boy's shoulder consolingly, "It'll be all right," he said quietly. He shut his eyes for a brief moment and then turned to go to Akki. He stood before her, pointing his thumb to the mess below. "I'm sure everything will turn out all right, we have to keep positive about it after all. There's nothing much that any of us rider's can do. Its all up to the Candidate's and the dragonet's," he told her. He hoped that she wasn't too worried, he wouldn't want her to have to bear any stress. The pair of them had seen and dealt with enough stress in their day.

Tieler felt a grin grace her lips when Raska took the reigns of the situation and bashed poor Khris with an intense verbal blow. She didn't move however when Raska told her about shooing the Brown to a safe haven, she merely watched while her friend did all the work. Something about the Brown mesmerized her, maybe it was the fact that it was the last dragonet that was available to impress... When the creature impressed off her heart sank, though it did not at all show on her face. Her flitt sensed it however and snorted distastefully. Tieler, addressing her flitt, spoke out: "Oh, hush up." She got herself to higher ground, only having to worry about herself and herself alone... just like it always had been...
Tieler went through the exit that everyone else had now started to file through. She turned back to look for Khris, though she wasn't all that sure why she had. When she did spot the familiar blue-eyed boy she felt, wait-what? Was it relief? She quickly looked away, completely taken aback by her own emotions, which she'd grown accustomed to keeping under control. She rolled her eyes, once again angry with herself, but when he neared closer it was then that she noticed there was something in his arms. No... but, how! she screeched in her mind, transfixed by the Hawk's Eye dragonet: Queroth. He's so beautiful, a perfect ma- What was wrong with her! Admin's Note:
Her cheeks were becoming hot, causing her hand to fly up to her face in recognition of the red shade covering her cheeks.

L'der could only feel a searing pain when he was elbowed in the gut, which made him bend over-holding his stomach. "Ow, ow, ow, ow," he whined, making a yelping sound after he'd been hit. "That wasn't nice, that wasn't nice at all," he told Tanwen calmly. His voice hadn't even taken on any streaks of anger, it remained level. He let her walk off and out of his sight, deciding not to pester her any further for now. He had to feed his dragonet anyhow and he was betting he'd likely be visiting the Girl's Candidate Barracks to try and console Tanwen since she hadn't impressed. He didn't even ponder over whether or not she did view him as a friend, all he knew is that he viewed her as one so for him that's all that really counted.
Mkinth gave a toss of his head when L'der was shrieking for him to come up on to higher ground. "Mkinth, move your hide!" he yelled out, feeling that he was the one wearing the pants in this dragon-human relationship. We work as a team, don't give orders-I don't appreciate them, Mkinth let His know. The two joined the single-file line in silence, both looking around to see if anyone needed there help. The two were about to find out that they were quite similar, in just about every way.
{ I know it's short but I'm just getting back in to the DM swing. xDD }
