Kia smirked as Miya stared her down. She expected a retort but the Goldrider held her tongue. Kia was a bit surprised. Miya must have matured. Kia was somewhat. She laughed mentally at herself but then concentrated to what the Junior Weyrwoman said.
At Miya's question, though, Kia frowned a bit. She quickly recovered but just as she opened her mouth to answer... well, she was attacked. An unknown person latched onto her. Kia was about to lift her hand and slap the person when she realized just who it was. Her eyes brightened and her mouth widened into a gleaming smile.
Kia went over the questions once she was released and answered them just as she remembered. "I have been at Ista going over tactics with the Weyrleaders. Kylath is doing very well. She has grown a bit larger but is otherwise the same. She hasn't-" Kia stopped. She was so caught up in the excitement she forgot what she was answering. She tried not to frown. "No, Kylath hasn't flown yet."
Kia turned back to where T'rin was to see if he was coming. She smiled when he approached. She listened and watched carefully and noticed the smile to Miya. She instantly commented. "I'm doing well but obviously you and Miya are doing better."
[glow=red,2,300]That probably wasn't smart.[/glow] What do you mean?
ooc;; Edited because I changed my mind. She says the same thing but what she means is different. Your character will have the same reaction. Okay. Done now. ::

Akki's attention went back to Kia and she nodded along as her friend recited off the long line of answers to her questions. "Tactics? Sounds fun. Well, we both know I have an attention span of a flitt so I'd get distracted if I went over them. That's good to hear, that she has grown. She hasn't? Huh, I was hoping she did just so I could figure out what colors chase Coppers. Oh well, I guess I'll figure out sooner or later.".
"Were you here to see the hatching? There was another queen and three mutants." Akki said nodding absentmindedly as her mind strayed off, hoping the weyrlings would join the feast soon. "And I get to crush a weyrlings, R'xis to be exact, dreams and hopes." She said with a grin and a wink. Even the painfully blunt Akki had to raise her eyebrows at what Kia said, at how she was so...forward?

Miya took a half-step back as Akki rushed toward them. She watched with a bit of amusement in her eyes as Akki blurted out what must have been everything in her mind before hurtling off. She raised a brow but returned her face to normal as T'rin stepped over. She bowed her head lightly to T'rin as he walked up and spoke to Kia.
At Kia's comment by angled her eyes in a glare. "Excuse me?" She questioned, ignoring Reinath's comment to watch herself. She didn't even notice Akki had actually hung around. She crossed her arms and stared straight into Kia's eyes.

Even T'rin, who was usually even and calm when tongues were sharp, couldn't help but get a bit upset at what Kia said. It wasn't her place to comment on that, and it was rude. Miya stepped up to the challenge and T'rin contemplated putting his hand on her shoulder but that would likely only upset her more and give Kia more ammunition, so he stood as he was, his face only a little bit red, and dropped all the emotion off his face, leaving a blank shell of expression.
"Certainly," he said with emphasis on the word and an icy chill in his tone, "you could explain what you meant. I don't think I caught your drift, and Miya doesn't seem to have either." His eyes hinted a challenge.

Christae entered the Dining cavern, resplendent in a gown of russet brown. Her hair had been pinned up in a neat bun with a few tendrils falling to soften the look. The gown hugged a figure trim from dragonriding. There was a belt of gold at her waist fastened with a dragon shaped buckle. A small sapphire jewel was set in the dragon's eye and a few other semi-precious stones were embedded in the links of the gold belt.
The gown swept out from under the belt in vulminous folds, flaring out to cover the dragonriders legs. Her feet peeked out as she walked, clad in soft dancing shoes of the same color as the gown. Her neckline showed a bit of cleavage and fell off of her creamy shoulders. The sleeves hugged the curve of her arm until they reached about halfway past the elbow. Then the sleeve flared out gracefully. As the goldrider walked, the sleeves spread out behind her, falling to her waist. The gown brushed the floor and was longer in the back, almost like a train. Along the train were embroidered the symbol of Dark Moon and a web of golden vines and flowers. In the center was a golden dragon and throughout the web were miniatures of the golden dragon. The hem of the gown was embroidered in a similar pattern as well as the graceful neckline. A choker that matched the belt circled her throat.
The WW had known that there would be many other WLs and the WW and she had asked the weaver to make a dress that would rival them. She knew that Sh'iron would not win the WL position next time. Kaith had gotten a glance at a few of the other bronzes and Christae was considering throwing her Queen's next flight open. It was within her rights to do so. She wanted the guests to talk about the WW of Dark Moon so that it might entice other bronzeriders to her Weyr. The Weyr was badly understaffed and the holders were expanding. She didn't want it to be said that Dark Moon couldn't take care of its own. Sh'iron had even missed his own dragon's children's hatching.
Kaith had bugled in approval when her rider stepped out onto the ledge to show the Queen in the rosy glow of the afternoon. The Hatching had started early that morning but it had lasted through the day. The festivities would last the remaining four hours until nightfall and probably through the night. DM might be a small weyr but Christae knew that Uslanee would be able to rival the larger weyrs.

Kia gazed sideways at Akki with a slight smile and her shoulder rose a tad. "I didn't make the hatching but I really wanted to. I had something to take care of at Ista." Kia looked back to T'rin and Miya.
The copper-rider didn't understand their frustration but she wasn't just going to accept it. She crossed her arms, raised her lower lip a bit, and narrowed her eyes. She gave a little huff of annoyance before she spoke.
When finally spoke (she was quiet for a moment), she was almost mocking of T’rin in that she spoke with exaggerated words as well. “I meant that you two have become friends. Clearly you have misinterpreted.”

"Oh Kia, it was simply amazing! It was filled with drama. Theft, mutants, secrets, angst. It's a shame you missed it." Akki said with a crest fallen face when she had learned her friend had missed the amazing hatching. "But the weyrlings and new dragons will be here soon! We can gape in awe at them together." Akki said with a grin.
She turned her head as Christae glided into the room and grinned at how lovely the WW looked for the feast/ Ebbeth, tell her that she looks wonderful from me Akki asked of her blue dragon. Weyrwoman, Akki and myself would like to say that you are looking very nice tonight and we hope that you will enjoy the feast and its festivities Ebbeth said, repeating the message while adding his own to it.

Christae looked up and found the bluerider. She lifted her skirts and made her way over to the group. "Thank you Akki." She said in reply to the blue's relay. "Might I say that you also are looking lovely tonight." Her voice revealed that she couldn't handle anything more than a joyous feast at the moment. The stress of the past few sevendays had been hard on her and she really needed this to go without a hitch.
"Miya, T'rin, Kia, it is good to see you here and well. I hope you enjoy yourselves." She chuckled. "I suppose I had better quit ducking away from the well-wishers and proud parents." Her voice was a bit rueful.

Akki grinned at her friend came over to the group of people and it grew even wider when she recieved a compliment. "Thank you." She said, a slightly embarassed look on her face at the comment. "Aw Christae, you know if you need a quick break from them I can quickly think of a distraction. You know, dress up a dragon and drag someone away. Something simple of course, something flawless." The bluerider said with a crooked smile and a wink. Slowly her attention once turned to the drama that was unfolding her eyes as she waited to see Miya's answer.
Which would probably be cold and sarcastic.

Rhia swept into the Dining Cavern, leading her charges in so that they could accept their shoulder knots from the WW. Heads turned and those who recognized the WLM let their neighbors know that the W'lings were about to enter.
The Weyrlingmaster wore a dark purple gown. The overskirt had been slit to reveal a silvery green underskirt. The bodice emphasized the brownrider's lean hourglass figure. The gown left shoulders and part of the woman's bosom bare, just enough to tantalize. Her skin had a golden tan to it that blazed against the dark dress. She had pulled her wavy auburn hair into a loose runner tail. She had left tendrils out all over and made the tail so that it cascaded down her back. The bottom was left down so that her hair seemed to fall in a waterfall effect down her back. A few barettes fashioned in the shape of flitts adorned her glossy hair. Her grey eyes shone in stark contrast to the dark gown. The gown gathered in at her slim waist and then flared out. The neckline was trimmed with the same silvery green material as the underskirt. The overskirt was a little bit shorter than the underskirt. The sleeves fell off her shoulders and were not much more than a wide strap on her upper arm embroidered in green. A belt of dark silver was fitted with a few green stones and a bit of the chain fell from the side of her waist. She had dark purple shoes to match the gown.
She walked carefully so she didn't step on her gown and made her way to the WW. "Weyrwoman Christae," she called out formally. "May I present you with the newly Impressed?" She curtseyed.

Hasima followed the line of Weyrlings as Rhia wove towards Christae. She looked around, spotting Akki who waved at her happily. Hasima raised her hand and jerked it back and forth, making an attempt to wave back at the blue rider. Turning her attention back to Rhia and the WW, she waited to be presented by Rhia. She adjusted her dress slightly, making sure that she would not trip on it, causing her to fall on the ground.
Her dress was long, like all the dresses but it wasn't long enough to drag on the ground. It was a soft blue, nothing too bold. It went well with her black hair and pale skin. Around the bottom of the dress there was some silver embroidery. It was nothing gaudy, just enough to be noticed and complimented on. It was simple, but that suited her just fine. In her hair, which fell gracefully, was a blue hair comb, where the top of it was shaped like a flitt. It was almost the same colour as her dress, and it stood out against her dark colored hair. She was very thankful that Rhia was kind enough to lend her this.
Rimith crooned to her reassuringly, telling the girl that she would not trip and fall. Rimith was just excited as Hasima now. She wanted to go and meet Hasima's friends and dragons more properly. Before there was little time to linger, there was too much to do in order to prepare. Despite the yellows impatience she stayed right beside Hasima, standing proudly.

The newly Impressed blue and moonstreak weyrlings moved with the others towards Christae. Surprising both felt the same way about this ceremony but for totally different reasons. K'nest just didn't like crowds. Sorcha didn't like /this/ crowd. But resolutely they walked with the rest to receive their knots.

Christae smiled and stood from her seat at the High Table. The Weyrfolk had moved to their seats. Christae sat with Miya to her left. The Weyrleader's chair was empty at her right but the wingleader chairs were filled. There was an empty chair for the WLM that Rhia would take after her charges had been cared for. This was one of the few times that the Weyr would take their proper places. After the feast the tables would be pushed back for those who wished to dance.
The Weyrwoman raised her hands for silence but it was unnecessary. Everyone had fallen silent as the WLM had led the newly Impressed W'lings in.
A weyrbrat approached at the WW's gesture. Christae walked around the table and took the crate from the weyrbrat and set it on the table. She beamed at the nervous W'lings and took a shoulder knot out of the crate.
"Hasima of yellow Rimith, step forward." When the girl had obliged she slid the shoulder knot on the W'ling. Her voice was gentle but proud of the new rider. "Congratulations." She instructed the girl to stand next to her. She would present them as one to the Weyr and then let them go.
The WW's smile was a bit strained as she called the next W'ling foward. "Sorcha of Moonstreak Lirlith, step forward." When the new rider stood before her she slid the knot on her shoulder. "Congratulations." She said formally.
"K'nest of blue Temesth, step forward." She smiled encouragingly at the timid bluerider. She was glad that he had Impressed. "Congratulations." Her voice and smile was warm. She slid the shoulder knots on the new bluerider and gestured for him to take his place in the line.
((this isn't in any order...its just in the order of those who came))

R'zlin awkwardly slid into the rustle and bustle of the hatching feast. He looked quite sharp today, which his hair smoothed back into a plait, and his blue vest and pants, decently worn from gathers past but still in pristine condition. A pale, cotton tunic would lay beneath the vest, its colors hinting at a pale bronze, which contrasted to his own skin and the blue of the vest nicely. Though the outfit might have been made to fit and look nicely upon his tall frame, he would cast a slightly self concious look towards the crowd. Blue seemed to be a popular color this evening.
The bronzerider didn't dally for long, because he knew stalling too long would not be looked kindly upon. He was late enough as it is. So... what to do now? An attentive eye caught that of the food tables as he made his way through the room, a hand methodically coming up to straighten his bronze dragonrider knots to make sure they were in order. R'zlin was not the sort to make messy first impressions if he could help it. Instead of partaking of food, the dragonrider made a beeline for the wineskins. Yes, this is what he needed to calm his nerves for the event. He tended to like company at these gatherings, and C'ben had decided to stay within his Weyr and sleep off the rigors of the day. Well, all the better, since it'd be best not to have rumors spread about the two of them for their tendency to be around each other a lot. A smirk played across his features at such a rediculous idea. Yes, R'zlin probably needed to make a few lady friends that he could escort to things such as feasts and gathers and the like. Keyword there would be 'friend'. R'zlin wasn't necessarily seeking out romanting rendevous' the second he stepped into this new Weyr.
The lady serving the wine gestured for R'zlin's attention, for the bronzerider had slightly gazed off in thought. "Ah, thank you" He flashed a grin towards the woman as he accepted the cup, but did not dally long before sidling over to a side of the room, sitting down at one of the seats of an empty table to enjoy his wine.

((this is before the announcement of the Weyrleader's resignation...just to let you know..the announcement was the day after the hatching and the feast so they can be there but they would have arrived that day...this is fine and it actually helps out because it will give them time to see what is going on in the weyr))
P'rin hastened into the cavern with the other W'lings, his bronze Kilzanth at his side. The bronze's hide gleamed with oil, making the flecks of metallic color in his wings shine in the light of the glows and the hearth fire. He clapped with the others as the W'lings were presented with their knots and directed to stand in line to be presented to the Weyr.
He wore a dark brown set of tanned hide trousers that were stitched with gold down the sides and on the hem. He wore a russet brown hide jerkin over a pale yellow tunic of a soft fabric hemmed with gold. The gold embroidery on the jerkin symbolized his status as a Master Tanner. He wore his Master's knots on the shoulder opposite the one that his W'ling knots would sit.
His long black hair fell straight and glossy past his shoulders. His pale blue eyes were vivid in the dark golden-tan of his face. He looked like a blue-eyed version of an old Terran Native American. His cheekbones were high and refined. He walked proudly beside Kilzanth. The dragon's eyes whirled with the blues and greens of contentment. The whirls were faster than normal because he caught the excitement surpressed in his rider's cool exterior.
~~~~~~~~~~
Christae smiled at the young bronzerider. "P'rin of bronze Kilzanth step forward." She glanced at bronze. "He is a beauty P'rin. Congratulations." He bowed before the WW and held out his arm. She slid the knots onto his arm and gestured to the line of W'lings waiting for the rest of their number to receive their shoulder knots. The lad could see his old Master beaming at him from the crowd of proud families and friends. He bowed again to he WW and then to the crowd before walking to take his place in line.
Hasima was fidgeting nervously when Christae called her up to her, waiting to present her with her knot. She shuffled up to the Weyrwoman, Rimith at her side being as patient as she could be. And as the knot was being slid onto her shoulder, she couldn't help but straighten up a bit, making her seem taller than ever. She was glad to be here, to have the knot being presented to her by a WeyrWoman as her dragon waited for her. She never really thought something like this would happen to her. She always thought something as majestic as this would happen to people back at her original Weyr, she thought she would amount to nothing and stay there forever with her mom and dad. She had proved herself wrong though.
She looked up at Christae, small tears in her eyes as she whispered softly, "Thank you. For everything.". With that said, she bowed deeply to her which Rimith tried to copy but flopped over. The yellow picked herself up, trying to save any dignity she had left before following her mine, who was now standing beside Christae like she was instructed to do.
R'zlin looked up from his wine as the weyrlings began to file in. As usual, his eyes would go first to the bronzeriders, scoping out those who would become both ally and competition. Biased? Of course, all dragonriders were to some extent, especially to their own dragon's color. There were two bronzes it seemed, and a gold. Overall it was a good spread of colors, but R'zlin still found the mutations to be quite the oddity.
There was a tone of words behing the Weyrleader that clearly noted an argument, no matter how they tried to veil it with nicities and crude tact. Rolling his eyes, the bronzerider turned about in his seat, and was mildly surprised to see a goldrider of all things taking part of it.. and the Junior Weyrwoman at that. He broke his attention to pay tribute to the next group of weyrlings to attain their knots, bringing his hands together for a hearty clap. Still though, he'd look over his shoulder at the group, having at least a few of them facing his direction to see his scrutinizing stare. He was sure that they wouldn't have found it very kind for others to not be paying attention to one of the most important moments of their life, and that Junior Weyrwoman had best at least pretend she's paying attention. Hmph. R'zlin was a grumpy old man indeed.
Sorcha stepped forward to receive her knots. This was supposed to be one of the best days of her life but it felt like all the others. Sometimes she really did wonder why others made such big deals about the small things. Yes the knots symbolized something bigger but receiving them didn't inspire much in the girl.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
K'nest smiled and moved forward. He was now part of the dragon riders. The great group of people who saved the world of thread. He dipped his head slightly, when Christae finished with the knots and moved to his place in line with Sorcha and Hasmina. He stood tall and proud with Temesth near him.

V'koran and Verith and L'von and Zalith filed in with all the other weyrlings. V'koran was thinking more of Jessalyn than receiving his knots, but L'von was nervous.
Silly, Zalith said, she's not going to bite you, just give you something important.
I know, that's what scares me. I might say the wrong thing.
Zalith simply laughed and said, You won't.
L'von sighed and hoped so, looking around for C'adyn. He didn't see the bluerider, and that frustrated him a bit. Usually he was everywhere where people were.
