Of course now it only dawned on her how trivial she was being, only part of her real idiocy dawned on her however, as she realized that it probably sounded like she was making fun of C'adyn and his manners. Her mouth turned into a frown slightly and she did a mental shrug, there really wasn't much she could do to repair that damage. "On second thought, I like the way I talk." She said with a small nod as she began to stand up. "Besides, everyone knows I can't use manners if my life depended on it. Now, I've annoyed you all enough no doubt with my endless babble and bluntness, so I'll take my depart.". And with that said, she headed out of the kitchens, humming softly to herself.

((Yikes, I forgot this was here!))
Lanvon watched the bluerider depart, puzzled at her quick turnaround and seeming lack of.... well, being upset. He probably would have felt awkward and fled the scene, but she had nonchalantly sauntered out, humming. He looked over to C'adyn, who seemed relieved from what Lanvon could read of his features. Lanvon pretended to be trying to figure out C'adyn's mood as an excuse to linger a few seconds longer on his face before shifting his gaze and diligently avoiding the weyrleader's eyes, looking around the kitchens he'd already surveyed a dozen times.
He picked at his now-cold food, finding the few edible bits left. His tuber was rather disgusting now and he didn't really want it anymore. The wherry was acceptable cold, as was the bread-roll. He tore bits off of this and looked to C'adyn, not sure how to start up a conversation again.

C'adyn felt a little bad when Akki got up and left, but he also felt a bit relieved and he felt bad for that too. Once she was gone though he turned his attention back to Lanvon and the others. He watched Lanvon poke at his food for a while and he finally caught the younger man's eyes and he asked, "So, what're your plans for living here at the Weyr?"
Just looking at Lanvon it was pretty obvious he was too old to Stand for an egg and not too many people came to the Weyr unless it was in hopes of Impressing. Somebody who came that was too old for that had to have something else in mind.
(ooc: short and pathetic i know but i'm exhausted.... stupid work hehe)

"Well," began Lanvon through a mouthful of roll, then held up his hand to signal he was chewing. When his mouth was clear, he continued. "Well, I was just hoping to do some work around here and make a few marks, maybe pick up a trade. I'm usually used as muscle, but I want people to know I have a mind as well as large arms." He huffed, the corner of his mouth turning down. "Some people think that's all I have." He shook his head, that issue clearly being a sensitive one for him. He was quiet a moment.
"And," he started up again after clearing his throat, "it's certainly a better... well... working environment here. Everyone's so positive."

C'adyn's mouth quirked up in a smile as he waited for Lanvon to finish chewing the roll and continue talking. He smiled even broader as Lanvon commented how so many people just saw him as muscle and not as having a mind too. C'adyn had a similar problem, a lot of people just thought he was a gossip because he talked so fast and so much.
When Lanvon was done talking C'adyn said cheerfully, "Its pretty rare that people see each other for who they are. They either see them for what they imagine them to be or what they want them to be." The words were serious but his tone was not, he didn't want to scare Lanvon away. Watching the man as he spoke, C'adyn couldn't help but want to get to know him better, learn what the other man was hiding, just what he used his mind for.

Lanvon looked curiously at the bluerider as he casually rattled off words that would normally signal a serious talk. Did he care or was he just listening to be polite? Lanvon couldn't tell. He pushed his plate aside.
"No one at my hold cared much what you thought as long as you did your work and kept quiet. Ideas weren't... tolerated," he finished after a pause. "In my family especially. They liked me a lot better after I learned to keep my mouth shut."

C'adyn sniffed in disdain at Lanvon's last comment and asked, "And that's why you left I hope?" He hated closed minded people, especially when the imposed their closed minded ways on other people. After he said that, C'adyn noticed that Lanvon had pushed his plate aside so he offered, "If you're finished, why don't you come for a walk with me. You can meet Hith, he's overly friendly and begging me to meet the person I'm talking to."
Hith had indeed been listening to C'adyn's conversation with the other man but he hadn't been begging to meet him. <<While I would be more than happy to meet him, I'm sure you just want to get him away from everybody else so you can talk to him more huh?>>
As his eyes refocussed, C'adyn turned them back to Lanvon and smiled. "He just said he'd be happy to meet you so if you want, you can." His smile was big and genuine and more than a little hopeful. He knew that the only way he'd get an accurate feel for the guy was to get him away from prying, possibly judging eyes. If that is what he'd grown accustomed to at his home hold, it was deffinately something he would avoid here with a vengance.

Lanvon raised his eyebrows at C'adyn, surprised and skeptical about the blue dragon who was supposedly so enthused to meet him. He watched jealously as the handsome bluerider's eyes went out of focus as he spoke with his dragon, and Lanvon considered going on the walk. He needed at least one friend at this weyr, and he could do worse than a bluerider. A particularly good-looking bluerider, his mind added, and his stomach flopped in an effort not to blush, which he barely managed. As C'adyn's eyes came back into focus, Lanvon decided to go.
"Sure," he answered after C'adyn elaborated on his offer. "Some fresh air would dry my hair faster." Okay, so that was lame, but it at least had some truth to it; his hair had gotten longer lately and it didn't dry nearly as fast as it had before. "Let's go." He took his plate to the designated place for dirties and then walked back to C'adyn. "Lead the way."

C'adyn smiled excitedly as Lanvon said he'd go. He got up from the table, watched as Lanvon did the same and then put his plate away with the rest of the dirties. When the younger man made his way back to C'adyn and the table and told C'adyn to lead the way he nodded and turned into the crowd.
It didn't take long for C'adyn and Lanvon to clear the crowd of the dining cavern and escape out into the weyrbowl. Once they were out in the open, C'adyn looked up and smiled at the sight of a blue launching from his ledge. "Here he comes Lanvon," C'adyn said as he pointed toward the sky. Then as he watched, Hith seemed to dissappear as he tended to do sometimes. He was just the right color to blend into the sky at times and today was apparently one of those days. C'adyn laughed and said sheepishly, "Well, he's coming I promise, he's just sorta hard to see against the sky."
Hith laughed at the awkwardness he felt coming from his rider in waves. He'd put C'adyn in that position more than once and he never got over how funny it was. He saw the man with his rider and his voice full of mirth he said to him, <<He's not lying, I -am- coming.>> Just then he flew in front of a cloud and then dipped into the weyrbowl aiming to land a short distance away from the two men. He approached with what looked like reckless speed but just in time he backwinged and landed almost delicately. Folding his wings against his body, Hith said to C'adyn's companion, <<Greetings Lanvon.>> He'd plucked the man's name from his rider's mind and was pleased to see he'd suprised the man.
C'adyn watched Hith's show, heard him speaking to Lanvon, and when the blue landed with a flourish all he said to his soulmate was, >>Pest.<< To Lanvon he said, "Lanvon, this is Hith my pesky dragon." He said it with a laugh and was smiling playfully as he regarded the blue dragon.

Lanvon squinted at the sky, his eyes hurt by the sunlght as he strained to see the coming blue dragon. He was about to ask just where the dragon might be when C'adyn explained the phenomenon of Hith's color, and Lanvon stopped straining and waited. Soon the blue appeared, seemingly out of nowhere, and careened towards the ground, only backwinging gracefully when he seemed about to crash. Lanvon was impressed, despite C'adyn's comment about Hith being pesky.
And he was surprised when Hith greeted him by name, his eyebows raising before he stuttered, "Ah, a good day to you, blue Hith." He glanced over at C'adyn as if to ask if that was a good greeting, and then looked back to take in the blue dragon's size and beauty. His wings were folded to his back and his hide was bright with the sun, and Lanvon struggled not to stare in envy at Hith's intelligent, whirling eyes and muscled haunches.
Without much to say, Lanvon stood awkwardly, unsure of what came next. He hoped that C'adyn could fill the empty air.

The show that Hith was putting on for Lanvon was really quite entertaining and the man was playing right into it. When Lanvon looked to C'adyn after he'd greeted Hith, C'adyn smiled and nodded encouragingly but didn't say anything. In fact he didn't say anything until Lanvon had had a good chance to look over Hith and get slightly used to his presence.
When he thought the younger man was ready, C'adyn asked Lanvon, "Would you like to touch him? Maybe even go for a ride?" C'adyn watched and waited to see how Lanvon would react to his offers.
Hith on the other hand wasn't nearly so patient. His brow ridge itched and he wanted it scratched and he wanted to get a closer look at Lanvon. Might as well accomplish both needs with one motion he thought and that is why he lowered his head next to the stranger and asked, <<Can you reach the itch above my right eye?>>

Lanvon's head snapped to face C'adyn as he offered a ride on Hith. A ride? Really? The weyrman's eyes widened at the possibility but before he could sputter out his disbelief there was a very large dragon head in front of him.
Can you reach the itch above my right eye?
Lanvon almost jumped at the dragon's speech, because he'd been staring at Hith with a rising uncertainty. Almost afraid not to follow the blue's request, he carefully reached up and scratched above Hith's eye, on the ridge, scared to hurt him. I can't believe I'm doing this, he thought, thinking back to his hold and the trip here. He'd never expected to know any riders or meet their dragons.

At Hith's forwardness and Lanvon's skittishness, C'adyn laughed. "Hith, be nice and quit scaring him," he scolded the blue as he watched Lanvon scratch the dragon's itch. He had meant to be at least a little more gentle about introducing Lanvon to Hith, even if he was just as forward. He wanted the younger man to be comfortable with dragons and Hith as a blue was of a more approachable size and personality than some of the other bigger dragons.
Hith was enjoying the scratching he was getting but now the itch was moving as it had a tendancy to do so he was moving his head so Lanvon's fingers would be in the right spot. When he moved though, Lanvon pulled his hand away and Hith told him gently, I'm not going to hurt you, the itch just moved. Then he asked hopefully, Can you scratch a little harder too?

Lanvon ignored C'adyn's comment and kept scratching, but then Hith moved. He pulled away, unsure if he'd scratched too hard or if the dragon was done.
I'm not going to hurt you, the itch just moved, Hith said, clearly worried he was spooking him. Can you scratch a little harder too?
Lanvon hesitantly reached back out to the dragon's head, letting him move his head until the weyrman's fingers touched the spot that itched. Then he scratched, a little harder as the blue had requested. This time when the dragon's head moved, he didn't pull away, and he thought he heard a sigh. He grinned over at C'adyn.

The pleasure C'adyn felt coming from Hith told him that Lanvon had gotten the right spot and when Lanvon smiled at him C'adyn smiled back warmly. "He likes you Lanvon," C'adyn said and watched as Hith continued to move his head ever so slightly as the itched moved.
When Hith gave a barely audible sigh, C'adyn announced, "Okay, the itch is gone now he's just being a ham and enjoying the attention." Then he looked Lanvon directly in the eyes and asked seriously but with excitement, "So, do you want to go up? Hith loves showing off as I'm sure you noticed when he landed and taking up people who haven't flown before is one of his favorite things to do."
Hith, knowing what his rider was proposing to Lanvon was growing excited and he couldn't help but start to squirm a bit. To prevent scaring Lanvon, he promised, I'll be gentle and not do anything to fancy until you're ready. He could tell his rider was quite interested in this man and he hoped as his rider hoped they would be interacting with him more.

Lanvon smiled inwardly but couldn't help being surprised when C'adyn said that Hith liked him. When the blue's itch had been sated Lanvon lowered his hand and turned to C'adyn, who proceeded to ask him if he'd like to ride on Hith. At least, that's what he thought the bluerider had said. Hadn't he?
I'll be gentle and not do anything to fancy until you're ready, the blue said, obviously excited.
Lanvon debated it in his head. Why was this bluerider taking such an interest in him, anyway? He was only a worker, of little or no rank, and he'd just arrived. He hadn't said much at all to anyone and completely embarassed himself in front of the Weyrleader. He'd come here trying to keep people away and they'd gathered around him like bugs around something sweet. He sighed. But riding a dragon was such an exciting idea! Feeling the dragon breathing under you, soaring through the sky... Arms around a cute dragonrider's waist... Lanvon kicked that thought away and decided to accept.
"Well, if it's okay..."

C'adyn laughed and answered, "Lanvon, I wouldn't be asking if you wanted to if it wasn't okay. If you don't want to though I won't push." He couldn't help but wonder if he was pushing the man too quickly. If he were in Lanvon's shoes he might very well feel a little leary of an overly friendly dragonrider.

"No, I.. see.. well.. alright." Lanvon grimaced at how he managed to make a fool of himself. If C'adyn had been a little less good-looking then he wouldn't be so flustered. But then he probably wouldn't be here with him. "It's just something different, and I don't want to feel like I'm intruding on your time." He looked up at Hith again. The blue wasn't the largest color of dragon, but he was still big, and friendly as he was, it was still daunting.

C'adyn was quite pleased that Lanvon decided to go for the flight but he wasn't about to say anything to the other man. Instead he just smiled and nodded. To Hith, C'adyn said, Alright, get ready he's agreed. And whatever you do please be careful with him. No showing off until he tells you himself okay?
The blue hummed his excitement both in answer to his rider's instructions and in response to what he'd heard Lanvon say himself. Not even needing to be asked or told, Hith lowered himself to the ground so that both men could climb up onto his back. Watch C'adyn to see where to climb up on me, he told Lanvon and waited for the men to get up and get settled.

Lanvon nodded at Hith's instructions and watched where C'adyn stepped after the dragon lowered himself, mimicking the movements and suddenly finding himself a-dragonback. He took a moment to orient himself behind C'adyn and to take a deep breath before looking down. The blue shifted suddenly, and Lanvon grabbed around C'adyn's waist before he could stop himself. He was rather far from the ground now that Hith had raised himself back to his normal posture-- farther, at least, than he'd ever been. It was disconcerting, and now that Hith was still, he awkwardly removed his arms from the dragonrider's waist, placing his hands on his thighs.
"Sorry, that, ah, scared me," he apologized, blushing, and glad C'adyn wasn't facing him at that moment.
