Lanvon strained his muscles-- which was saying something, for he had many-- to lift the final giant bag of firestone from its place and move it to where he'd been directed. He only managed to lift it about waist level, and did a funny, spread-legged, quick walk with it over to the sacks he'd already piled. He dropped it on the ground with a grunt, and stood up straight, stretching with a groan. He reeked of the phosphine scent of firestone.
Lanvon jogged the long run to the lake, where he found a more secluded spot and took a dip without his clothes. When he emerged, he felt more refreshed, even though his tunic and breeches still smelled faintly of sweat and phospine.
He walked this time on his way back to the weyr, and made his way to the kitchens, trying to remember where he'd gone his first day here. He did manage to find his way there, and took a plate and filled it with different foods. He didn't speak to anyone, just took his food over to a table and sat. He began to eat, his broad shoulders, big muscles, and stern-seeming face contradicting the almost delicate way he cut and ate the food on his plate.

C'adyn had been enjoying chatting up one of the kitchen workers when a stranger, at least to him, went through the food lines. Now in a big place like a Weyr it wasn't too surprising that C'adyn didn't know everybody but he tended to recognize most people. He didn't mean to but C'adyn's words trailed off into silence as he watched the man go take a table and sit down to eat. Contrary to his appearance, the man ate rather carefully and C'adyn couldn't help but wonder to his origins... Was this some lordling in disguise?
Thoroughly intrigued, C'adyn excused himself from his current company and made his way over to the table that the man was sitting at. As he got closer, C'adyn realized that the man's hair was wet and without knowing it he bit his lower lip. Wet hair always framed a person's face better and C'adyn was rather fond of wet hair for that reason... especially if the accompanying face was worth looking at. When he circled around the table to look at the stranger from the front, C'adyn decided that the man deffinately had a face worth looking at. It wasn't pretty boy nice but it was nice all the same.
He'd already eaten so C'adyn didn't have that excuse to sit down with the stranger so he did the next best thing, he decided to greet the man. Taking a chair right across from the stranger, C'adyn said cheerfully, "Lunch was good, I finished a bit ago." Then he held out his hand across the table to shake with the stranger as he introduced himself. "I'm C'adyn of blue Hith, we transfered here not long ago. May I ask your name?"

Jakel stood up from his table and took a cleaned off plate. Jakel all ready ate, but he was still hungry, so he went off to get seconds. When he had piled meat-rolls and other foods onto his plate, the candidate headed back to his table. He then noticed that a fellow candidate was at one of the tables. He hadn't seen this candidate when he first came into the lower caverns, so the boy must have just arrived.
Jakel took his plate and headed over to the table. It was then that he saw another there, he didn't recognize this one, so the man must have been a dragon-rider. Nonetheless, Jakel excitedly took a seat. "Hey!" He greeted enthusiastically. "My name is Jakel." He said with a wide smile as he introduced himself to the dragon-rider.

After a rather quick bath, Hali pulled herself out of the water. She dried herself off before getting dressed. She wrapped her chest, and threw on a green top, that was a bit too large for her frame. The brown leggings were also a bit big and baggy, but she didn't mind. Hali brushed her hair, then arranged it to look less...femenine.
Satisfied, she headed toward the lower caverns, because a day of work made a girl hungry. The girl disguised as a boy put some food on a plate and looked around for someone she knew. Hali hated eating alone. Luckily, she saw a table with two other male candidates and a dragon-rider. She slowly walked toward them. She sat down and looked at everyone. "I am Kalor." She lied in her masked voice to the dragon-rider.

((Note: Lanvon's not a candidate. He's just a weyrworker. Sadly, he's too old to Stand..))
Lanvon looked up from his food, his single-minded concentration broken, and found himself looking into a rather handsome face framed by blondish curly hair. "Er, lunch was good, yes," he said, too surprised at the bluerider to affect the gruff tone he usually used. He took the dragonrider's hand and gripped it firmly, getting some of his wits back. "Name's Lanvon." He firmly suppressed the flush that wished to cover his face and neck. He was not going to blush at every dragonrider, even if they were handsome, muscular, friendly... Lanvon inwardly sighed.
But before he could say more, two more people had migrated to his table. Gee, aren't I popular, he lamented inwardly. "Hi," he said shortly to the two new arrivals, boys who were probably Candidates.

Walking into the kitchens with her eyelids drooping, a scruffy appearance (As in rather untamed hair at the moment) and a hand over her mouth as she yawned, was Akki looking as if she just slept through a few turns. Which was close enough to the truth for her, since she did actually fall asleep for a bit. She would have gladly slept longer, for sleep was something she cherished and loved, but the sound of her stomach growling as it demanded food and Ebbeth's chuckle that echoed in her head at the growling forced her to get up and do something about it.
Raking her finger through her hair in an attempt to tame it, she awkwardly picked up a plate with one hand and placed a piece or two of food. She didn't want to pig out and decided this would stop the noises and allow her to go back asleep. She sighed quietly and peered around and spotted Jakel and...and, who was that with him? She shrugged, the action causing her plate nearly to fall off the hand she was balancing it on, but luckily she was able to catch it before anything fell and hit the ground.
She walked, well more shuffled, over to the table and said in her normal 'I'm permanently cheery' voice despite the fact she was ready to fall asleep on Jakel's feet at the moment, "Normally I'd ask if I could sit here and join you four for lunch, however it looks as if some people are done already, but may I sit here anyways?". She took a stray piece of hair that kept falling into her face and absent mindedly pushed it behind her ear as she waited for an answer.

Lanvon looked up at the newest arrival, who looked a bluerider from her knots. "Go 'head," he said. He discreetly looked over at the bluerider, who he remembered was called C'adyn, then looked more overtly at the two Candidates and the other bluerider. The two candidates looked as if they were younger than him by anywhere from two to four years, and the female bluerider looked his age or older. He looked down at his food, feeling awkward at having so many people around him. He wasn't used to having this many people with him eating at once.

"Thanks." She said graciously as she slipped onto a chair. She grinned and stuck out her hand, removing it from her hair of course, and said, "I'm Akki of blue Ebbeth, and you?". She paused for a moment, looking up and then said, "I think that 'And you' should go to everyone here but Jakel considering I don't know anyone here but him.".
She looked down at her food for a moment, and the looked up again, probably looking very odd by doing this, and then said as she bit her lip in slight nervousness, "Please don't tell me I just interrupted some meeting or something by barging in and asking to sit here. Despite my nagging curiousity about a 'secret' meeting I'll gladly move.". She paused, taking a breath and then snorted softly, "Not only that but I'm talking like a sharding idiot and my appearance probably doesn't flatter what blue riders are supposed to look like, huh?".

C'adyn had thought he would have the stranger to himself for a little bit but shortly after the man introduced himself as Lanvon, two candidates showed up at the table. Then practically right on the candidates' heels came another bluerider. He couldn't help but raise his eyebrow at the female bluerider's request for names, she was rather bold. Then again, so was he normally... He looked at Lanvon before shrugging and answering the woman. "As I was just telling Lanvon here, I'm C'adyn of blue Hith. We're transfers from Ista."
He wasn't sure what else to say to her or the two candidates so he turned his attention back to Lanvon and asked curiously, "So I haven't seen you around the Weyr before, how new are you? Where do they have you working right now?" He really was curious about the other man. Lanvon looked a bit old for Candidacy but he also looked younger than he was so he wasn't sure exactly.

"Ah, well," startd Lanvon, looking around at the different things in the kitchen, "I'm pretty new. I've only been here a few days." His gruff manner loosened as he found himself talking more then he had the whole four days he'd been in the Weyr. "I'm just doing random jobs around. Today I was moving firestone, yesterday I was shifting crates in storage and hauling feed in the stables. It's not that hard."
He flushed as he realized how much he was talking. He carefully forked another piece of wherry into his mouth and chewed slowly, less to give the other man time to talk than to stop himself from chattering on. The bluerider's good looks made him feel flighty, and having other people there to hear him should he stumble over his words made him nervous.

Sh'iron walked into the lower caverns, and let out a sigh. With so much going on, he had little time to greet the new riders and support staff that were almost flooding into the little Weyr. Bright eyes searched the tables until he spotted the two people that he wanted to meet. Nodding, the Weyrleader walked over to the table. His eyes scanned the people sitting at it, and nodded to the ones he knew.
"Sorry if I am intruding, but I had to come greet the new members of the Weyr," Sh'iron said with a grin, and his eyes flickered over to Lanvon, and C'adyn. "Hello Akki, Jakel, and Kalor." He nodded as he said each name.

Jakel laughed. "Of course you know me, Akki. I am just so popular." He exaggerated. Besides, he had just met two new people today, Lanvon and C'adyn. Akki, I must admit, you look like a mess!" He said with mock-shock. ((Wee, that rhymes.)) "You look like you have been stuck in your bed for at least two weeks!" He exclaimed jokingly. As Shiron walked by, Jakel smiled and waved.

"I am Kalor." Hali introduced herself to Akki. She was meeting so many new people, and was sure that she still had plenty to go.

She popped a bit of food into her mouth and chewed slowly as she listened before swallowing and said, "Nice to meet you C'adyn. And I'm guessing your Lanvon then, pleased to meet you.". She brushed a hand against her face, pushing a stray strand of hair out of the way as she looked up to see Sh'iron and replied with a fact she made up, "You keep nodding your head like that and it will fall off.".
She rolled her eyes at Lanvon, C'adyn and Kalor as she replied to Jakel with a crooked grin, "No Jakel, you're not popular, I just had the mispleasure of meeting you already. And I know I look like a wreck, I probably look like the most irresponsible dragon rider at the moment, actually I probably am.". She finished her sentence with an amused snort before turning to Kalor and said, "Nice to meet you too. Hn, I sure am meeting alot of people today. If I get anyone's name wrong just yell at me, or whack me a couple times.". Was it just her imagination or did Kalor's features seem slightly...feminine? She shook her head slightly and told herself that she was probably imagining it, and this was a side effect from lack of sleep.

C'adyn nodded as Lanvon rattled off the list of chores he'd been assigned to the and was actually rather unsurprised that the man had only been there four days. If he'd been in the Weyr longer he likely would have met him already. C'adyn himself had been in Dark Moon long enough that when a man wearing Weyrleader knots introduced himself and welcomed both he and Lanvon, it took him a moment to remember that indeed he hadn't met the WL before now.
Having heard the WL's name around the Weyr, C'adyn stood and greeted the man as was appropriate. Once he had greeted the WL, C'adyn asked conversationally, "How fairs your Myranenth?"

"No offense C'adyn", Akki began to say to the blue rider, "But you talk very...Hm. What's the word? Distinguished? Grandly?". She paused as she rolled a few words in her head, debating what would fit with what she was thinking. "Properly. That's the word. You speak very properly. I mean, once again no offense, alot of people don't do that. I like that you do that.". Of course she didn't realize she was probably being excrutiatingly blunt, however, when did she ever realize she was?
"I'm going to come right out actually ad say it. I think I like you two. In fact I'm sure." She said to Lanvon and C'adyn with a nod which was followed by a shrug. She then grew quiet, a good thing, as she listened so she could hear how Myraneth was from the Weyrleader.

Sh'iron smiled. "Myranenth is doing well. Thank you for asking," The Weyrleader nodded, and turned his attention to the Weyrworker. "I am sorry that I haven't introduced myself before now, but, I have been very busy." The rbonze rider raised an eyebrow at Akki. "Akki, I think you should speak more properly," He said, then rolled his eyes. Sh'iron stuck out his hand for Lanvon, and spoke. "I am Sh'iron, Weyrleader of Bronze Myranenth," He said.

Lanvon gave a small smile at Akki, not sure what to say to the friendly bluerider. She was an odd one, and very talkative, but she seemed nice enough.
He was surprised when the weyrleader reached his hand out to shake, and Lanvon in his nervousness took it probably a little too quickly. He shook it firmly and let go, saying, "Nice to meet you, Weyrleader." He avoided looking at the weyrleader's face out of shyness, feeling silly.

Sh'iron smiled warmly at Lanvon, then cocked his head. He shot a questioning glance at Akki, and then quickly nodded to Lanvon. The Weyrworker was a little strange. And at thia, Sh'iron was a little confused. He is shy, and feels silly looking at you. Myranenth told his rider. Ah! So T'ran would be good friends with him, if the green rider wasn't already with Sh'dim? I guess. The bronze replied from his perch on his ledge.

Akki blushed slightly and grinned crookedly and replied, "I'll try Sh'iron, but it won't work out very well. But I'll try anyways.". She frowned slightly and thought about something and then blurted out, "Wait! I don't know how to speak properly. C'adyn can you teach me? You seem patient enough, I mean, I'll probably drive everyone else crazy.". She lapsed into silence again and muttered with amusement, "I'm probably driving you crazy already.".

C'adyn raised an eyebrow at Akki's words and he had to resist the urge to glare at her. So he had manners, why did she feel the urge to point that out? Something about her just rubbed him not quite right...
He shrugged and tried to shake it off, paying attention instead to Lanvon and Shi'iron. As Shi'iron spoke to Lanvon, C'adyn noticed the look on the Lanvon's face and smiled. The poor guy looked like he wanted to hide.
When Shi'iron suggested Akki learn to speak more properly, C'adyn's attention whipped back to the people around him. When she pretty much volunteered him to be the one to teach her he wanted to hiss at her, not that he was normally the hissing type. If he'd been a feline his back hair would be all poofed up and he would most deffinately be hissing. Not many people bothered C'adyn but... Not wanting to think on that anymore, C'adyn returned his attention to Lanvon and everybody else.

You're driving me a little crazy, thought Lanvon, and he suppressed a grin as C'adyn nearly bristled at her when she suggested he teach her how to "speak properly." Lanvon was pretty sure the weyrleader had been kidding, but the bluerider hadn't seemed to pick that up, and was now pestering C'adyn. Or, at least, if you asked C'adyn, it would probably be labeled as pestering. She might call it asking for help.
At that, Lanvon couldn't help but let the corners of his mouth turn up just a little. One of his brothers had been like her, a bit-- but at the thought of his brothers, the corners of his mouth turned down farther than they originally had been, and he stared at the grains in the wood on the table, trying to focus on something other than the reason he'd left his hold.
