Miya sighed. She had enough of the two love birds. She stood up. "Have your privacy." She said simply. Miya made her way out of the stands and down towards the sands where the others were. She paused and sharply breathed in as the heatness quickly made its way through the soles of her boots. She walked over to where the candidates were. She stood off to the side, away from the others but in a spot where she could still easily see the eggs.

Rhia entered the cavern, a toddler on each hip. The Wingsecond pushed her auburn hair back from her face. The thick mass of hair fell in a mass of curls past her shoulders. It was time for her to trim it so that it would fit better under her riding helmet but she had not been able to find the time to do it yet. The rider's figure was lean and wiry from her work with her dragon but motherhood had added a bit of softness to her hourglass figure.
The little boy, Rehan, had the black hair of his father and the grey eyes of his mother. He had taken his mother's high cheekbones and light-colored skin that tanned golden in the sun. His sister, Giana, had taken her mother's thick and wavy auburn hair and her father's brown eyes. She too had the high cheekbones and her mother's hourglass figure and small hands and feet. Giana had taken her father's light tan skin color and the golden tone from her mother. Both children were already showing signs of being tall like their father. They were slim, agile little things despite the fact that they were just beginning to walk. They were only a few days older than the Weyrleaders' son.
Rhia set the children down carefully on their feet. They let out little gurgling noises that was their version of laughter. The brownrider smiled tenderly and then took their hands to make her way to the front of the crowd to see the eggs. The children couldn't get into much trouble here with all the riders and Candidates out so when she got to the front of the crowd she let them go, keeping a watchful eye out.
"Oh glory." The brownrider breathed as she saw the eggs. "Kaith, your eggs are magnificent." She bowed to the great Queen and then went to greet her Weyrleaders. She bowed to each of them and then returned to stand near her children, looking around to see who she knew in the sea of faces gathering to watch the Clutching. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Perin woke from a dead sleep in the Candidates' Barracks and rose silently. He brushed his blue-black hair from his face and glanced around. The blue-eyed youth was suprised to find the other beds empty. "Shells where could they be?" He must be the only one still abed even though the sky was only just taking on the pale grey of morning. He pulled on a tunic and slid his feet into his boots and made his way out of the barracks. He left his furs on the cot without bothering to straighten them out. He would probably catch it from the Candidate Master later but he didn't care. He wasn't the only one though.
On the way to the Lower Caverns, an excited drudge stopped him and told him that he might want to go to the Hatching Grounds. At first, the young Master Tanner was confused but then he took off in a sprint to the grounds. The only reason he could see for them to be going to the Hatching Grounds was that the Queen was clutching her eggs. He edged his way around the crowd so that he was on the outer fringes of the people. He could see but he wasn't in anyone else's way. "Great Faranth. They are like nothing I have ever seen before."

G'han turned from the boy he was greeting and saw his weyrmate with the twins. He nodded to the boy and said, "Please excuse the abrupt leave". He walked up to his weyrmate and kissed her on the cheek he then bent down to the twins and smiled at them. As often G'han started to play with the two and get them to laugh, making funny faces, tickling them, and even playing peekaboo. He enjoyed spending time with his new family and it was one of rare few things that set his troubled mind at ease. He lost one family only to regain another.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
K'dan smirked as Miya left then looked down to see G'han and his family. He smiled as he watched the father play with his toddlers. He gave a tender smile realizing one day that would be him playing with his baby.
Rhia smiled and then left G'han with the twins, knowing that he would keep the toddlers occupied for a while. She threaded her way through the crowd, greeting the Riders and Candidates she knew. The brownrider's eyes no longer held the troubled grief that had clouded her existence the first time she had come to Dark Moon Weyr as a grieving seventeen Turn old girl who had just lost her family to plague. She smiled and laughed readily now. She walked over to Akki. "Hey Akki, how is Ebbeth doing? Is he still trying to show Mneith up?" Her eyes were full of mirth as she remembered the day on the lake shore when Ebbeth had boastfully challenged her brown.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Anassa entered the cavern, following a couple of people who were filing into the Hatching Grounds. She was curious to see what was going on. Her eyes widened when she saw the glowing eggs on the sands. She stared with her mouth slightly open. She had seen many wonders as a Harper, but this was one that words could not describe. She would have to ask the Weyrleaders if the Master Harper would be able to attend the Hatching. She would write a song just for this. The melody already began to play in her head and the young Harper lifted the pipes in her hand without thinking and began to play. She didn't notice when the great Queen turned her head to see who was playing or when the other Weyrfolk looked at her. She just continued to play.

Kaith turned her head from the little Harper girl and crouched to lay another egg. This was her seventh egg. This egg looked like one of Pern's tropical seas. It was a sea green color, not quite blue, but not quite green either. There were swirls of purple and blue along it's length and the markings looked like they could be waves disturbed by the passage of fish or one of the legendary shipfish that inhabited Pernese waters. The top of the egg looked almost crystaline and the bottom had more swirls of color, as if there were a coral reef below the surface of the water.

Kaith spent some time positioning the Tropical Sea colored egg and pushing the sand up around it to keep the egg warm. Then she bent to lay her eighth egg. She kept the egg hidden for a while before moving away to show the people. A drudge edged in closer to see the egg before Kaith moved away and the Queen hissed in anger, lashing her tail protectively around the eggs. Get back The errant drudge leapt backward and went to sit in the tiers, not wanting to incite the large gold's wrath. Kaith revealed her latest egg. This egg was a deep black color. The egg was as shiney as the others and a person could see his or her reflection in the inky black depths of the shell. The egg looked like a void, pure black without any lines or fractures of color along its surface.

Another egg was laid on the sands before everyone could finish admiring the black void egg. This egg was Kaith's ninth egg. The Queen still looked egg-heavy so there were many more to come. This egg was a dark burnished orange. The egg's glowing color seemed to flow down in rivulets. The egg was a bright orange at the top and dark lines ran down the egg, making the color look almost like molten lava streaming down the surface of the egg. Part of the egg was a deeper orange that looked almost as if the molten liquid was cooling. The egg reminded Christae of a volcanic eruption she had seen once before she had come to the weyr.

Miya looked at the eight egg from a distance. Still, she was able to see her reflection. Her dark brown eyes continued to stare at the shiney eggshell as if looking through the egg and into the distance.
Mine? Reinath questioned worriedly.
It was then that Miya snapped back to reality. What? She said blankly.
Mine, are you okay? You were staring. Reinath was worried.
I am fine. She replied simply. The goldrider crossed her arms in front of her chest and turned away from that egg and looked to the others.

Three more eggs lied on the sand, each one just as unique at the first. So far none of the shells were repetitive, though the black and the 'starry' one sharred some similarities and at the same time also looked different to one another. The male grinned, watching as one of the drudges fled to the tiers, probably not wanted to become an apetizer for the clutching queen. So many eggs out already and she still looked heavy-egged. Surely this would be one sharding hatching. No Queen egg yet, though the male didn't doubt that the egg was swimming somewhere inside its Gold mother, probably reluctant to come out just yet.
Shards, if he could know better the egg would probably want a grant entrance – or more rationally the future Queen inside would want a grand entrance. The smaller female besides the male blinked, Rizu watching the eggs with utter curiosity as she continued to make faint markings on her sketchpad. Sauke grinned, patting his younger sister's head softly before they both turned to continue watching Kaith and her clutching.

Akki looked at the eggs, admiring each one. How could each egg be so different? More importantly, what would emerge from each egg? So far no egg was swept aside by Kaith, so no Queen egg was laid. Yet, there was still that possibility of it happening. She looked at the pure black egg, and saw herself looking back. It was amusing to see something so dark reflect a perfect image back to you, she could see every detail of her face in the reflection even though she wasn't that close to the egg. She grinned to Rhia and replied, "When isn't Ebbeth trying to show Mneith up? I don't think he will ever give up on it.".
Hasima looked at the eggs, her eyes glistening with wonder and excitement. Oh, how she was glad she could not fall asleep! She would have missed all of this, and even though it would take her a moment to fully understand the importance of what she missed, she would have scolded herself beyond belief. She looked around, looking at each candidate, rather bluntly may I add, and noticed how each person was like a dragon egg themself. Each one was different than the next, each looked different on the outside and on the inside. She looked back at the eggs, and silently hoped she would Impress one. She couldn't go back home. She still remembered the cruel looks and sneers when she was picked to come here, and no one else was. She remembered how parents scoffed at the idea she was better than their own child and she remembered how proud her parents looked when she was chosen. How could she go back and dissapoint them, it would surely crush them even if they denied it. On the plus side, she at least remembered all of that. A new record, no doubt.

(( OOC| Would've responded sooner but alot happened over here, sorreh every one... ))
Wolf looked up on the blond-haired boy, phasing out as she stared at his face. The way his bangs fell into his blue eyes... the confusion on his face...
*Daydream* Wolf sat down on the sandy beach, not caring about getting her clothes dirty. Neither did the boy next to her. "Roxis?" she questioned, looking to him lovingly. "If I was to go away, like you said...You'd come right?" "No," the boy would reply, a sounding warmness was to his voice. "I would find you though, one day, it wouldn't be forever," he added, not looking to her as he stared out at the waters. "How will you know where I'll be?" she then asked, her own gaze not having left him at all. "I don't know, haven't got that far..." he said, a crack to his voice as he looked up at the darkening sky. "When mom was with dad...Did he ever-" "Cheat on her?" the boy finished, he now turned away from the scenery to gaze up on Wolf. "Yeah..." she said, frowning disappointedly. "I doubt it, its nothing to for you to be concerned about anyway," he smiled, poking her side as to tickle her. She chuckled, head turning to looking over to the ocean. "Your probably right, mom wouldn't have let that happen." Her eyes were flooded with happiness, seeming to enjoy this moment spent with her brother, even though the former subject hadn't been all that nice... "Love you," she called out to him, a breeze setting her long hair to blowing-around lightly. "Yeah... same..." he replied to her.
*Snaps-out*
The blond-haired boy bushed his bangs out of his eyes lightly, head raising more as a bunch of people came over to greet him. It wasn't what often happened when he entered a new Weyr but this time was different, he was a standing Candidate. "Hello there," he nodded firstly to G'han, watching as he apologized and headed off to wards his two children. "Its okay..." he had started to say. His gaze then went back to the younger girl and the boy of about his own age, as well as the Blue rider Akki. He was about to introduce himself when he noticed the dazed look on the girl's face moments ago. "Are you okay?" he inquired, the look she had been giving him making him rather suspicious.

Dark Moon's Senior Queen rested for a few minutes. Christae turned to a few drudges and asked if refreshments could be made. Then the young Weyrwoman turned to the people gathered to watch the spectacle. "Please move to the tiers. I am suprised that Kaith has allowed you to stand so close for as long as she did. There will be more room in the tiers and you won't be standing on scorching hot sands."

G'han nodded and picked his two toddlers up and carried them off. They giggled a bit as he made some more funny faces at them and stuck his tongue out. Giana grabbed his tongue and squeezed it then let go and laughed. "Ow", he said in a bit of pain but laughed and said to her, "You got that from your mother. You are too much like her". He smiled and kissed her on the forehead and continued, "But that's ok because I love your mother very much so and the same is with you two. When he made his way there he nodded at K'dan as the boy looked back at him. He saw he was with Nike so he left the two alone to be with each other.

Akki turned, grabbed Hasima's hand (Which caused her eyes to go wide with surprise) and headed towards the tiers. where everyone else would be heading. Akki was determined to make friends with Hasima, and planned on apologizing for crashing into her every time they walked near each other. "I should hope you love Rhia, G'han!" Akki said, laughing as she over heard her friend.
Hasima felt someone grab her hand and head towards the tiers with her in tow, here eyes went slightly wide as she recognized the person dragging her as the person who continously crashed into her, however it took her a moment to realize this. She opened her mouth to ask something then closed it, deciding to be quiet and follow along with her.

Kaith's rest period left her feeling restored and she returned to the task of laying the eggs that contained her children. The next egg was pale blue with swirls of gold, almost like glitter along the surface. The egg had a swatch of silver that seemed to envelop the blue. The blue was an oval on one side of the egg. Across the middle was the silver and on the other side was another blue oval. The entire egg was covered with golden swirls.

The Gold had paused after laying the last three eggs almost one after the other, - and who could blame her? - laying eggs containing your children was anything but an easy task. The male had to admire the dedication of the Gold, arn every other mother, for o creature alive would let their offspring die before having a chance to be born. Why, parents would even give their life for them, whether humans or animals, even if sometimes that wasn't the best desition for either party their instincts to protect the younger life is strong. Just like dragons are born with the desire and will to flame and defeat thread when it comes mothers have an instinct to defend their youngs till the end. That was something that had to be mightily admire out of any creature, something some humans should learn. For in true reality there are many things that animals could do a thousand times better than humans ever will, yet humans choose to blind themselves to this truth and go on in life.
Her rest had finished, the female notice this as the gold moved and contractions rippled through the side of her golden hide. The clutching was taking long - they had yet to see the Gold Egg - but so far each egg had been worth it, each one better that the last. As the mother moved after preening over the new addition the female stared in awe atthe little oval egg. The pattern on it reminded her of the sea, the golden marks about it resembling earth - to her at least. In all the egg seemed like if one would have been viewing Pern from the sky... From high, high above where the stars where- The female cut her train of thought, she was probably giving each design too much thought over. After all, it was impossible to get that high up in the sky, even with a dragon noone could get to where the stars where... Right?

Jakel looked back and forth as Wolf and the boy looked at each other. "Did I miss something?" He asked with confusion, his hand rubbing his shaggy hair. "By the way, I didn't catch your name." He said to the boy. "Hey, there is another." He pointed out as another egg was laid but didn't think they would notice so he turned back, waiting expectantly for an answer.

Kaith's next egg was a pale orange at the top and bottom and cream in the middle. There were varying shades of orange and cream within the sections. Kaith's eleventh egg was paler than the palest blue. It was a pretty pale sky blue that was almost a solid color. Small amounts of white on the egg's surface made the egg look almost like it had wisps of clouds over it surface. The next egg was a speckled egg. The colors of the patches were varying shades of blue. The colors ranged from pale blue to a blue-black color. This egg shone just as brightly as all the others did.

Kaith moved to another section of the sands to lay a few more eggs. The place where she had begun was becoming rather crowded. The next egg, Kaith's fourteenth was the palest of greens. It was like the stone used often for jewely. It was a jade color, but a very pale jade. The egg that followed almost looked like a mound of sand in a stone bowl. The edges of the egg were stone grey and there was an oval of a sandy color in the center. There were flecks of pink in the sandy part that made the egg look grained. The next egg was smaller than the two previously clutched ones. It was a pretty aquamarine color that had a bit of a rainbow shine in the middle of the egg. The egg was the tiniest by far but it was bigger than most dragon eggs that were laid.

Wolf shook her head back and forth lightly, although she was lying to the mystery boy. "No, I'm fine," she told him. As Christae announced that they should all be moving to the tiers she did so readily. She looked back to Jakel, not wanting to get separated from him. Something in her heart told her she didn't want to be separated from this new Candidate boy either. Her eyes were then drawn to the newly laid eggs, never having seen such a variety. "Keeps getting more and more exciting," she said to herself quietly.
Wolf, now out of range, was unable to hear the boy's reply to Jakel. "I'm Roxis, nice to meet you," he smiled. He looked over at Wolf, seeing that she was obviously waiting for Jakel to follow along... Was he welcome to? No, he didn't want to push it... His own eyes were soon drawn to the clutch of eggs, his smile lengthening at the beauty of them. "So unique, aren't they? One can only wonder what will come out of them..." he then said aloud, not being able to help himself from adding in a positive comment of Kaith's eggs.
