R'dal leaned back in his chair and sipped some klah. He was still new here and getting use to the surroundings. This weyr was different from his other one. Smaller but nicer. He looked around to find the lower caverns fairly empty besides the occasional drudge going by. He shrugged and took in what relaxation and peace he would have for now. Elith was sleeping and he did tell Nira he was coming down here. It was still early so whether she heard him or not he didn't know. He wasn't going to jostle her completely awake just to tell her he was going down to get some klah. At any rate Elith could have told her if she really wanted to know. He took another sip and held the mug in his hands while he looked forward, thinking of various things.

Akki walked in, one hand rubbing her eye sleepily as the other one carried a blank piece of parchment. She bit her lip and stared at the paper, as if hoping words would magically appear before her and imprint themselves onto the sheet. She didn't even notice that someone was there too, and it was someone she didn't even know. The green flitt wrapped around her neck cherped as if informing her of the stranger but she silenced him with a wave of her hand.
What she wanted to know was how to fit basically her life story onto a piece of parchment that wouldn't be hard for a incompetent flitt to carry. How did she tell her brother, K'iah, what happened after he left. How did she tell him that she too Impressed, the people she met and the life she now lived and how she still, jokingly, was mad at him for abandoning her with their father. Maybe a better question was how do you start a letter to someone that you haven't talked too for a long time, you really couldn't just write it pretending nothing ever happened and that gap between you two never existed.
She sighed, tempted to crumple up the paper right then and there, instead she scrawled (In almost illegible writing mind you) two simple words, 'Dear K'iah'. That was as far as she got before she was tempted to give up, but instead she folded the parchment and held it into her hand. She would remove it when she actually had an idea what to write. She shrugged her shoulders and looked up, only to notice the person.

R'dal watched the girl come in, seeming to scribble something on a paper. He smiled when she looked at him and asked, "Having trouble writing?" He took another sip and placed the mug down and looked at her.

Akki looked at the person, still trying to figure out who he was exactly, before replying, "Not writing. Trouble trying to figure out what to write. What the shards do you write to someone you haven't talked to or seen for most of your life?". She shrugged and said, "Oh well. I'll think of something eventually I suppose.".
She smacked the palm of her hand on her forehead and said, "I'm such a ignorant fool. I haven't even introduced myself and I probably chewed your ear off with my jabbering. I'm Akki, rider of Blue Ebbeth. You are?".

"Ah. Well the best words are those that come from the heart. Say what you feel", he said to her. He gave a warm smile and said, "It's alright. I've heard worse from other riders. Feel free to talk to me anytime. My name is R'dal of brown Elith, recently transferred here and weyrmate to Nira of green Siarath. A pleasure to meet you Akki". He nodded his head at her and smiled again.

"Ha. He'll mock me for eternity if I do that." Akki said, well, snorted. "Oh! I should have known that. I was there for the flight. I really should have known who you were." Akki said, mocking a grimace at her incompetence.
"I didn't, however, know that you transfered here. What do you think of it?" She asked, curious. She rarely saw Nira anymore, much to her regret, and didn't know what she thought of the whole flight thing but there was no doubt that she was glad R'dal's dragon caught hers. If she wasn't then would he really be here? She doubted it.

"Well what are words if they have no feeling behind them? Empty right?", he asked her, though a bit rhetorically. "So I am guessing that was your blue in the flight then. A mighty fine blue he is", he said to her. He took another sip and held the mug and asked, "What do I think of what? The weyr? It's nice. Small but homey. From what Nira tells me the riders are all close here and like family", he said. "And might I ask you the same question? What do you think of it here?", he asked her.

"You are getting logical on me aren't you?" Akki asked, eyeing him before shrugging. She laughed at R'dal's compliment to Ebbeth and replied, her snickers still being heard, "That was my blue, but a mighty fine blue? I beg to differ. He's a lump of hide, nothing more.".
Hmph! And you are nothing but a worthless waste of time Ebbeth retorted for everyone to hear that was in the conversation, which meant her and R'dal.
Akki rolled her eyes, she expected a comeback. Call it their loving bickering if you pleased. "What do I think of it? It changes every day truth be told. Some days, I adore it but on other days I just went to get on Ebbeth and go back home, but I never do. Maybe one day I will go back, I doubt it though." She said before pausing for a moment and then continuing, "Also, it's growing quite fast. Everyone that was here first are basically fully matured. With the exception of me, if anything I have grown down not up. Ask anyone.".

"Perhaps but I find it to be true. I am sure your Ebbeth is a great dragon. He chose you for a reason you know. Interesting though because I haven't come across many female blue riders", he said to her. He nodded and said, "I can understand how that is. Often I have felt the want to go back and see my family". He rubbed the back of his head and then let out a slight yawn. "Apparently I am still waking up. Nothing like a good cup of klah to get you started in the morning", he said with a chuckle.

"Because we are both incompetent?" Akki said, grinning slightly before going to get some klah for herself. She came back and asked, "Have you? Gone back to see them I mean, if you don't mind me asking.". She had often thought going back, not to see her father, but too see her brother and Prirth. She missed him and he had no idea where she was, for she knew her father would not have told him. Her father told her that if she left, she would be abandoned by the family, cast out. She retorted, saying that that would be a dream for her, for surely he was not familt but an enemy. "Agreed." She said, sipping her klah thankfully.

He gave a hearty laugh at her words. Then when she returned and asked he replied, "Once or twice I have but I was a brownrider at Ista weyr, not too much time to do that". He took one last sip and set the empty mug down. Not opted to get another cup but rather talk he asked, "So have you ever gone back to see your family then after you impressed?"

She nodded at his words, understanding what he meant. "I wouldn't exactly call it a family. My mother died, my father cast me out and told me never to come back and I haven't seen my brother for many Turns. I haven't been back, or even wrote. What I was writing was a note for my brother for my flitt to give him, I believe he is back home, but I am not sure." She replied with a shrug, as if it didn't really matter.

R'dal nodded. "Well just write what you feel. Say what needs to be said", he said to her. "I am sorry about what happened with your family but from what Nira tells me you would have a better one here", he sympathized and stated.

"If you knew my brother, then you would know he would laugh at me beyong belief if I did something like that." Akki replied, the corners of her mouth pulling upwards to form a small smile. "Would? I do have a better family here R'dal, even if not by blood, I consider these people my family.".

"Well you haven't spoken to him in awhile right? And why say words you don't mean? Ask him how he is and how he is fairing. Tell him a bit about yourself as I am sure alot has changed for the both of you since you last saw each other. If you miss him then tell him and ask him if you could see him soon", R'dal said. "Good. These people seem nice here. You definently fall into that category", he said with a smile. She had just picked up a conversation without knowing a thing about him, she seemed very social.

"You are being rather blunt aren't you? I don't mind, but this actually has to be carried by perhaps that dimmest flitt on Pern, so I can't make it long. I'll probably put it off for a while. I'm not even sure where exactly he is right now. He could be where we grew up, or he could not be. I can't exactly ask my father." She replied, pausing a moment to sip her klah. "Apparently you haven't met everyone yet. Watch out for Miya, she has a quick temper and a quicker mouth. She'll say what's on her mind, which normally is not a kind thing." Akki warned him.

"I suppose I could be. Just think about it for awhile then, something will come up", he said to her. He looked at the flitt and smiled. "I have met your Miya. She didn't come off as very nice. However Nike seemed nice and L'sod was quite taken with a Lira from here. Then again L'sod is nothing if not a charmer", he said with a chuckle at the last part. He did start to miss his good friend. L'sod and H'dyn were his two closest friends, they were back at Ista weyr. But he was happier still here with Nira. He couln't ask for a better weyrmate and Elith was happy with Siarath.

"L'sod?" Akki asked, her eyes sparkling with interest. "I'll make Miya a friend, or a sort of friend, yet. That's my goal. And yes, Nike is a nice person.". She hadn't seen Nike around for awhile really, she barely saw the white rider because of her duties as Healer and Akki's own duties. "So, if you don't mind me being bluntly curious, who is this L'sod?".

"She might come around eventually", he said. "L'sod? We met as candidates. He impressed a blue and I impressed Elith. We became really close since our time as candidates and he is a good friend. He can be a bit of a lady charmer and flirts in his own way with girls. He uses charm and humility and sweet comments. He is very amusing to watch around girls. He seems to have a way with them. Otherwise he is a great person and someone you can always count on", he said to her, describing his friend. He missed him a little more now. But he had Nira now and that was more than enough for him.

Akki chuckled and said, "Sweet comments? I really do find that quite amusing, I can't picture anyone doing that to meet someone. The only people who do that are the weyrmates, I believe.". Ista Weyr sounded much different than here, however she expected that. "I think one day I would like to go to Ista." Akki declared, making it a goal mentally.
