Remi was sitting on her bed veyr bored. She had a lute with her but didn't really want to play it. She just sat there and stared off into space. Remi hadn't really been talking to anyone, she was new and scared. Although she stayed there becasue she wanted a dragon. Her previous weyr was worse though. Their only queen dragon had died and left no queen egg in her last clutch. Remi laid back on her bed and looked at the ceiling. She was thinking about the past and her family. How they were brutally killed and such. She longed for someone to talk to so bad. (( Grr!! Dumb computer it keeps shutting down my pages!! ))

Anassa pranced into the Candidates' Barracks with her pipes to her lips. She entered the girls' side of the room, dancing to her own tune. Her eyes were alight with mischief and her hair flew in all directions as she spun around.
She came to an abrupt stop and put down her pipes when she saw the other girl laying on her bed. "Hello." Anassa said with cheerful enthusiasm. "I am Anassa, formerly of the Harper Hall. I don't think I have met you yet."

Remi imediatly sat up upon hearing Anassa's voice. "Remi, Formaly of Ista Weyr," Remi replied with enthusiasim. Finally someone was speaking to her.

"A pleasure to meet you Remi of Ista." The young woman bowed from her waist with a smile on her face. "How long have you been in Dark Moon? I arrived here two sevendays ago but it already seems like a lifetime. The Weyr is so different from my old home hold and the Harper Hall. Fort Weyr is also so much bigger than this. I have never been inside but the Harper Hall is nearby."

Rifenjesk looked at the other candidates, trying to rember faces and names. Nothing was worse then being in an unfamiliar place, then being without someone you didn't recogonize as well. Settling herself on an empty and free bed she lazed. Which was not nessacarily something out of her character, she listened, observed, though did not allow her eyes to droop.
She was new here, sleep was for some other time. At the moment she wasn't much for sleeping anyway. Rifenjesk then swung herself to have her feet touch the floor, which she swung back and forth.

"I know the weyr really is different. I arrived here... I think.... a sevenday ago." Remi said after a pause. She was begining to like Anassa. Just then she noticed that Rifenjesk had walked in. "Oh, hello there. I'm Remi." She said to Rifenjesk.

The girl gave a wave of her hand. "Rifenjesk." She grinned, "pleasure to have met you." Her eyes darted a bout the barracks once more and swung her feet abit in bordom.

"Same here," Remi said. She started tapping her fingers on the bed. It was a type of beat, she just couldn't figure out what beat.

"I am Anassa, formerly of the Harper Hall." The young woman said with a bright smile. "What color do you think you will Impress?" The young woman was vibrantly cheerful. Her cheerfulness either infected or disgusted the people around her most of the time.

"Don't know. Truth be told I want a mutation. Their really cool," Remi said thinking of all the stuff she would do with her dragonet if she impressed.

"Mutations are interesting and likable enough, though I'd like any dragon colour." Rifenjesk said with a small nodd. She added thoughtfully, "I'd like any dragon really as long as they're nice and all."

"From what I can see the mutations are extremely rare. It is unusual for there to be more than one in a clutch like the copper and the white. There aren't many that hatch in one Queen's lifetime."
Anassa turned to Rifenjesk as she spoke. "Dragons are always nice to their bonded. Its other people that have to worry if you try to harm their rider. The Harper Hall is near Fort Weyr so we see dragons often enough. Our watchdragon was always bugling at some dragonrider or another in greeting and the riders are always in and out of the Harper Hall, especially since that Weyrleaders' Meeting that took place here."
"Everyone was in a boil about that meeting. The contents of the meeting were explosive enough but I have heard quite a few people fuming that the youngest Weyrleaders called the meeting and insisted that it be held here. Some people admire Christae and Sh'iron for their pluck, but some dislike them. Oh well, you win some and you lose some. Thats why Christae was able to get more thithes. We hear a lot at the Harper Hall."

"I see," Remi said. Her fingers continued playing their own rythem on the blankets. "Why don't they hatch often, surely if it was a mutation to clutch, all the dragonets would be mutation?" Remi asked curious.

Not much was going on today and it was driving one candidate insane. Jakel strolled into the male part of the candidate barracks to find it eerily empty. He sighed boreidly. Where was everyone. Finally, he decided to go look somewhere else. He walked towards the girl side and spoke out, "Can I come in?" He asked, not wanting to walk in when one was changing or something.
When he had first arrived one woman was in labor and that had been embarrassing enough.

"Sure!" Remi called out. As far as she knew no one was getting dressed. She looked around at the others.

Jakel walked in, a broad smile on his face. He sat on Remi's bed, since he knew that it had been her who let him in. "So, what are you girls up to?" He asked with a laugh.
((Short, sorry. There really wasn't that much to reply to.))

"No, not all dragonets are mutants. Sometimes the genes don't show up in a clutch. There are very few mutant genes that show up in a Queen's lifetime. Some even think it is because of the Bronze. No one knows. They just know that mutants are rare."
Anassa looked up when she heard the boy's voice asking to enter. As far as she knew it wasn't against the rules if they were all awake and dressed. Remi answered before she could so she just kept silent. She smiled at him when he entered.
"Hello there. I am Anassa, formerly of the Harper Hall. We were just talking about dragons. I asked what color everyone thought they would Impressed and then we started talking about mutated colors. Remi wanted to know why they don't show up more often."

Jakel nodded."A mutant would be sharding cool, but not my only choice. I would go for any dragon. I mean really! Being bronze-rider is amazing enough. Shells and shards, I would be so happy just to impress." The boy laughed.
"Think about it? Would you really be upset if you only got a green dragon?" He questioned, leaning in for emphasis.

"Nah, I wouldn't be upset. I would just be happy I impressed," Remi said smiling. She continued to look at the ceiling. "Okay, now I understand why there aren't so many," Remi said to Anassa.
