Rhia mumbled "um hmm." Then she wiggled out from under her weyrmate and drew the curtain that separated their sleeping quarters from the opening of the Weyr. "It's getting too cold at night to sleep with that open." She put a brazier of coals nearby and lit it to take the chill off of the air. Then she returned to bed, slipping under the covers and snuggling up against him. Little did she know that in a few days time Nike would reveal her secret to the whole weyr.

"Yeah it is. Perhaps you should wear warmer clothing too. That would help you know", he said with a grin. He snuggled with her. "Though then again if you do all that then you will be too warm to snuggle with me", he continued.

"I am warm enough." She wore loose-fitting breeches, socks and a loose short-sleeved tunic. "I just want the chill to stay out of the air. It is going to be a long winter. I will have to go get some more firewood. My supply is down."
Mneith rumbled a goodnight to his chosen and her weyrmate and his dragon. His lids closed and he fell fast asleep.

"I can go in the morning and get some firewood for us", G'han said. He said goodnight to Mneith and rested his head on her.

She smiled "If you want to." She cuddled up against him, laid her head on his chest and fell asleep.
The next few days were uneventful, Rhia doing her work as a Wingsecond and Christae's messenger and G'han taking care of his Wingleader duties.
A week or so later Rhia stormed into her Weyr. Mneith tried to soothe his agitated rider but it didn't work. She was upset with G'han and Nike had affirmed her belief about her being pregnant.

G'han went after Rhia. "If it bothers you that much that I train. I will quit training and K'dan and D'ran can be trained by some other fighter", he said to her. He hated that she was upset with him. "I will stay here and take care of you. I was going to do that to begin with. I wasn't forgetting about you and our baby. I am happy that I have a family now", he said to her.

Rhia looked up. "I don't want you to stop training altogether. I just want you to spend more time with me and it shouldn't be just because I am carrying our child."

G'han sighed, "That is not what I meant either. I always want to spend time with you. Like a few days ago, I enjoyed that. But I promise I will set aside more time to spend with you and stop training so hard. I will only train when I am training K'dan and D'ran and for a little bit on my days off or something but I will cut down. I will make sure I can spend time with you every day".

"That is all I want." She ran a hand through her shoulder-length hair. She had recently cut it shorter to keep it out of the way.

He went up to her and wrapped his arms gently around her. "That's something you should have too. I am your weyrmate after all and no excuse can cover my actions. I take full responsibility for my actions", he said to her. He began thinking of his home. It had seemed like a lifetime ago since everything happened. Sure he was happy to be at this weyr and have Rhia as a weyrmate but he was still haunted by his past and still everything was shrouded in mystery. What happened to his family? Did any of them live? These were questions that constantly plagued his mind.

Rhia leaned against him. "I forgive you. I wish my parents could have met you but they are gone." Her voice was soft. "I have 6 months left before the baby is due. We need to think about fostering or if we will raise the child ourselves."

"Simple. It is our kid. We raise him. If any of my family is still alive I will take you to see them" he said to her. When he said that it gave him a bit of hope that perhaps maybe some of his family survived.

"Oh and you are so sure that our child will be a boy? And it is not that simple G'han. Most dragonriders foster because they don't have time to care for their children. You and I are active dragonriders. We may not have thread but we have our other duties. I am a Wingsecond and Christae's messenger and you are a Wingleader."

"Oh sorry I just didn't want to say it. It was a slip of the tongue and I want to take care of our baby. I will make time for the baby", he said to Rhia. He wasn't going to have anyone but him take care of their baby. "Now as far as someone looking after the baby while we are absent I wouldn't be opposed to it", he continued.

Rhia smiled. "Then we won't foster but we will have to have someone babysitt the baby on a regular basis. What do you want? I don't care if the baby is a boy or a girl. We will have to think of names. If it is a boy his name will have to be easily made into an honorific. A lot of times the children of dragonriders impress too." She was starting to get excited about her pregnancy.

"Babysitting I am for, but I want to have an active roll in the baby's life and help raise the baby", he said. "As far as names go I really don't know and it would be great if when our baby grew up he or she impressed a dragon", he said. He was now excited, thinking about the future of his baby.

Rhia smiled, glad that he wasn't mad at her anymore. "I was silly to get upset and not to tell you about the baby." She went to him and slid into his arms.

"No you had plenty reason to get upset with me. I have been far to zealous in my training. I really don't have the best explanation for that recent behavior either, though I know no explanation could cover for me", he said to her. "He walked her over to the bed and laid down looking up at her. "I can't wait. Soon we will have a bigger family", he said to her.

"Don't worry love. You won't get as big as a house", G'han said assuringly. He placed one of his hands on her stomach while the other rested on her waist.
