"Sure", G'han said then turned his attention to kadan, "Well third place won't be that bad, what makes it worse is that it is last place". He gave a smirk and continued, "That's all, so don't be such a sore loser when you lose ok".

Kadan replied, "We will see". Sharan noticed the other firelizard come join him. He was welcome company. "Well does anyone else want to join in", Kadan asked making sure no one felt left out.

Nike walked next to B'ton slowly as they made their way to the lake.
Zim cherped and tightened her tail around Nike's neck.
The Healer was slightly happier as she spotted the others in the lake.
It looked like they were going to race.

Kia looked at the shore and her eyes brightened, glowing with utter-most satisfaction. A smile played amoung her face and she moved her hair from her eyes to make sure she was seeing right. Suddenly it was clear that what she saw was true. "Nike," she yelled. "You are better!" She coudld not contain herself, perhaps yelling at her was not what she was supposed to do. She fought with herself to stay in her place for the race.

Daran ran out as he heard Kia shout Nike's name. He smiled. He was almost certain this was the girl who lost her dragon and he was delighted to see she was better. He thought to remember if they met when he came. He didn't recall. Daran walked to Nike, grinning. "Hello there, I am Daran, the new Weyrsinger," he said, simply.

G'han looked up and saw Nike. He wanted to go see her but he wanted to win the race first. "I will win for you Nike", he said with a smirk on his face. He knew he would be tough to beat. "This is your last chance for anyone else who wants to race and remember its underwater so if you come up for air prematurly then you lose", he said to everyone.

"You will have to beat me to win and that is no simple task", Kadan said. He waited patiently to see if others would join in on the competition. Both him and G'han stared at each other wanting the race to get started. This friendly competition was starting to heat up. Neither had feelings of anger for each other but feirce competition.

Kia smiled, her competetive side getting the best of her. She moved her arms a few times, trying to loosen up. It was time to put her countless years of swiming to good use. "Well, I guess it is time to start, unless anyone wants to join," she said.

Nira's eyes went blank as she saw Nike. It was as if she went back into shock, but only for a moment. She stood up and walked over to Nike. "This weyr will never calm down, will it?" she asked slightly shaken. "First the renegades, there is Tirith..." she pause hoping that bringing up the green wouldn't do harm but she continued. "...and now... her." she said pointing to Miya. "Be careful she has an attitude but is smart and standing as a candidate."

Miya waited for Christae to reply. She turned to see a shaken up woman come. That must be the rider who's dragon died. Miya looked over the rider but turned back to Christae. She couldn't loose the chance to stand at the hatching.

Akki looked up and said "I'll join". She stood up and walked to the others, surveying each person who was also racing.
[glow=blue,2,300]Beat them Akkmine[/glow] Ebbeth said, watching her and the others carefully. Not only was Akki smiling now but she was interacting with others since Tirith's death, he supposed since she was trying to he should follow suit.

R’dan and Jesseth eventually joined the others down at the lake. ~You don’t need a bath Jesseth?~ No, but I would like to swim you should swim too it’ll make you feel a bit better. ~I’ll just watch, you go on~ R’dan said as he patted Jesseth on his side. Jesseth snorted then walked to the edge of the lake and slid smoothly into the water. R’dan sat down at the edge of the lake and watched as G’han and the others were trying to start a swimming race.

Kia grinned at Akki. With a glance over everyone she said, "I must warn you, you shouldn't try if you are a sore loser." She was deffinetly getting cocky and competetive but she needed it. She treaded water slowly to save energy.

"Well I guess this is everyone. It's about time we get this started. Everyone go.............now", he said and then took off under water with amazing speed. He wasn't in the lead yet, he wanted to conserve his energy then pull ahead,

Kadan dove underwater and started swimming. He looked around and to his amazement he was in the lead. He looked back at G'han who had a smirk on his face, something was up. He had something planned. He became worried but shrugged it off and continued to hold the lead.

Kia took a cleverly designed breath. She figured a way to get a lot of air but not too much so that she had to breath right away. She kept a steady pace just behind G'han. She was a shoe-in to win, after how many days she swam at home. She even counted how long she stayed underwater sometimes. She moved her legs a bit slow so she wasn't pooped out in the begining. Soon enough she figured out G'han's strategy, the smile gave it away a bit. She decided that once he swam ahead she would follow and pull in front of him.

G'han looked at Kadan ahead. He was content with letting the candidate thinking he was going to win. G'han was pretty sure he would win, he was very fit from all the turns of training. He stayed right on the candidate. He was easy enough to keep up with. He was going to wait though to see what the others would do before trying to do anything. He was ready for anything.

Kadan was happy. He was in the lead, sure he was worried before but then he thought to himself that perhaps G'han wasn't as much as a threat as he thought he was. He quickened his pace making sure there was more distance between them.

G'han noticed Kadan pick up speed. "Yes he just slipped up. He will lose now", he thought to himself. G'han sped up to keep behind him though still not going full speed. He still didn't want to take the lead. He wanted to know how the others would react and what they would try to do.

Nike nodded. THen took a seat on the shore. She looked at Miya. An odd girl.
Zim looked the Candidate over, then cherped.
The Healer looked back at the others. Memories of when she and the others were Weyrlings flooded her mind.
It would be hard, but she had to pull through. She had too. For her friends, for the Weyr, for Pern, for her dead parents, and for herself. She had to stay alive, and help out as much as she could.

Akki took a large breath before plunging into the lake, the cold water rushing up to meet her. She opened her eyes from under water, seeing peoples feet wag a bit in front of her and pumped her legs, her hands straight at her sides as she swam towards them.
[glow=blue,2,300]You right beside Kia who seems to be going...[/glow] Ebbeth started to say. Hush love, don't tell me what they are doing, that would be considered cheating She reminded him, only to get a grumbled apology in return

Kia watched Kadan and G'han speed up a bit so she too accelerated, not much, though. She kisked her legs just a small bit faster and lined herself up with G'han but did not pass. She still had some speed left but she began to need a breath. She could still last a long time but she felt her body just begin to need air. After how long the had been under, everyone would at least begin to need a breath. It wasn't unbearable just the starts of her brain saying it was time for air. She still continued swiming.

Daran watched Nike cautiosly, a bit concerned. She did not seem well and he wasn't sure she was up to talking.

She watched Kia move ahead and so she started to pump herself forward with her arms too. Slight pains poked at her, telling her that she used up some air and would eventually have to refill. Her eyes were starting to burn slightly from the water rushing over them but she did not risk closing them, for she would go off track otherwise. She too lined up beside Kia and G'han.

THe Healer nodded to the Harper then looked back to watch the race.

G'han noticed Kia beside him, the water did not bother his vision at all. He looked at her and Akki and winked. He was sure everyone would be wanting air soon. He too knew he would start to fill that he needed air eventually. He waited patiently for Kadan to slow down and lose his pace. He sped up and he knew that Kadan would be slowing down and put him and the others tied in the lead. He smiled. He had his plan but it was hidden to the others.

Kadan was starting to feel the effects of his burst of speed. He slowed and eventually found himself behind the others. He looked at G'han who had a smirk on his face. "He played me. That was his plan all along and I fell for it", he thought to himself. He now felt foolish for his actions.

G'han saw Kadan fall behind and thought, "One down". He looked at the other two wondering which one of them would take the lead. Kia seemed to have found out a bit about his plan because she had the chance to pass him and didn't. Akki on the other hand didn't seem to know what he was up to though he wasn't sure of that. He wasn't going to assume anything. He wasn't ready to take the lead yet and was sure one of them would try. If not they would be tied and he knew no one wanted that. He strategized just in case that may happen. He wouldn't be caught off gaurd and would be ready for anything.
Gerenanth woke up from his nap and noticed his rider was racing. He had this race won from the beginning. Go G'han you can beat them all. Gerenanth started feeling better.

The Healer had a feeling that G'han was going to win.
Oh well, life will move on.
Zim cherped and stroked Nike's cheek with her golden head.
The queen missed Tirith too. But not as much as her bonded.

Kia smiled. She was almost certain everyone had under-estimated her. She had no fear of a tie, she just didn't want to lose. She moved just a tad faster to be a nose ahead of G'han but then returned to the same pace so they had an egual didtance for longer. Such a small burst didn't deteriorate her energy at all.
