"You want an egg, don't you?" Nike asked Daran as Kia went into the lead.
Zim cherped and watched the Harper as the Healer started at the water's edge.

Daran looked uneasily at Nike. "I guess but I don't need one. I am happy being a harper," he said. He was not chosen durng a Search and he wasn't lying. He didn't care too much, he liked dragons, who didn't. He enjoyed being with dragons but he ddn't need one.

G'han noticed Kia pull up just ahead of him. He was content with letting her stay there atleast for a little while but then she pulled back and she didn't seem all that exhausted from the little bit of speed she gave out. "She seems eager to win", he thought to himself. He gave a smirk and looked to her. He seemed to have anticipated that she would try to take the lead. He was still pacing himself and wasn't tired at all. He still wasn't feeling that he needed air yet but he knew very soon he would start to feel that way. "We still have a good ways to go so I still have plenty of time, everything seems to be falling right into place", he thought to himself. It was good that he proved to Kadan that he was a better swimmer but he wanted to win. Competition was something he lived for, rarely was his skills challenged.

Kadan looked at the others ahead. As far as he could tell everyone was still tied, all except for him that was. He struggled to quicken his pace and catch up with the others. He knew he might not win but he didn't have to take last either. He sped up and came up ro their legs. He was still behind but not so much now. He was on the edge next to Akki. He thought of his next move from there, it wasn't going to be easy now that he had tired some.

G'han looked back to Kadan catching up. He wsan't going to speed up, no that would be a mistake on his part. He wouldn't change his strategy just because Kadan wasn't as far behind. He kept equal with the others and winked at them again. He was getting a bit of an ego.

Kia kicked one leg a little harder one time and swayed one hand harder once. She moved up a bit but she also sent bubbles at G'han and Kadan. She wasn't tired yet and she wasn't desperate for air. She was also getting an ego but that was because she felt she had to prove herself.

G'han was unaffected by the bubbles. He looked ahead at Kia. "She took the lead, perfect I knew she would and I am sure she wants to keep herself in the lead too. Let's see how badly she wants the lead", he thought to himself. He picked up the pace to be dead even with her. He looked and waved a hello, letting her know she would have to try harder if she wanted the lead. He was unaffected by the change of pace and could go faster, but it would be foolish to do so because he didn't want to tire himself out though he wasn't in the least bit. He thought of his father and thanked him for all those turns of training. He was feeling the rush of adreniline as he felt his abilities challenged. He would rely on that adreniline as reserve power if he needed any.

Kadan, unlike G'han, was affected by the bubbles and it slowed him down. He was growing tired and desperite to get a place. He caught up with Akki but was now very tired from the effort to try and keep up with her.

Kia grinned, he was trying to trick her, like he did to Kadan. She was a little more clever. With a completely fake face she seemed tired and dropped back a little behind G'han. He wasn't quite tired but she wasn't either. She looked to the top of the water but then looked ahead. She wouldn't jynx herself.

G'han noticed Kia dropped back. "She didn't want it as badly as I thought. She seems to be a bit more crafty than the others. Oh well it was merely to test how badly she wanted the lead", he thought. He dropped back next to her and gave a smirk. He wasn't fooled easy and he wasn't in the least bit tired or affected by the drop in speed. He waited for her next move and still wasn't counitn out Akki, though Kadan was pretty much down for the count. He was still examining every little thing making sure he wasn't caught off gaurd.
Gerenanth was getting into the race. Go G'han you can win. He was proud of his rider.

Kia raised a little higher to the surface. At frist it seemed she would get out but then she went horizontally and swam above G'han, making sure to keep an eye on him. She hadn't completely planned out her strategy but she liked what she had done.

G'han looked up to notice Kia above him. "So she wants a birds eye view of me to keep an eye on me", he thought to himself. He knew going up so close to the edge would eventually want to make her go up for air so he didn't follow her lead. He kept even with her below and turned his body upside down to keep an eye on her and still be able to watch Kadan and Akki. "Two can play at that game", he thought to himself. He gave a big grin and continued they were just now around half way with the race.

Daran's frowned at first. She seemed a bit exasperated. With a sudden though his face brightened and he smiled largly. "I would lo- be honoured to have one," he said, trying not to sound rude.

As Nike mentioned a firelizard Nira looked at the woman. She hoped that Nike didn't forget she wanted a firelizard egg. Nira couldn't summon the courage to asked Nike if she remember. Nike had just experianced the worst thing possible. It would be rude to ask if she remebered or not.

Daran looked over Nike's shoulder and saw Nira look up when she talked about an egg. "Umm, I don't think we met but the girl behind you seems interested in an egg," he said. He had remembered then that she hadn't really responded when he introduced himself but she did lose a dragon.

Nike didn't look behind her, but she could feel Nira's worry.
"Yes Nira, you will get your egg, don't worry." The Healer said.
Siarath, tell Nira not to worry about the egg thing.

OOC: Hey guys....sorry I vanished for the weekend.....I went on a roadtrip and it was too unexpected for me to give warning. I kinda made G'han disappear as well because I went up to where he lives to stay with some friends and we kidnapped him and his best friend for the weekend.  We had fun. IC: Rhia held back a sharp remark and walked back with Miya. ~~~~~~~~~~~ Christae looked down at the girl, trying not to be mean. She was the Weyrwoman and it wouldn't do for her to act like a spoiled brat with a temper tantrum. She hated the fact that Miya was so callous. "Dragons may die often during Threadfall but each loss affects us deeply. If you wish to Impress you will have to understand that. Dragons are like people. They are not just animals. They are the creatures that keep Pern from being destroyed. I will not stand for your rudeness and you had better not mention any of what you said in front of Nike. I expect you to report to the Headwoman for latrine duty. You will also have to transport the dragon feces to the compost heap." She turned away from the girl and finished oiling the large gold. She settled down to watch the others frolicking in the water, not ready to join in. She looked worried when Nike walked up but she managed a smile for the Healer. "I am truly glad to see you up and about Nike." ~~~~~~~~ Rhia was not feeling up to racing. She did not want to mess up all the healing her ribs had done over the past few weeks. When the healers looked at her ribs again she hoped she would be released. She hadn't really had that much trouble with them over the past day or so. She watched the others play, her face thoughtful. She rose to her feet when Nike walked up and went to give her friend a hug, "This changes nothing Nike. You are still one of us and we love you no matter what, remember that." ((I tried to catch up if I missed anything im sorry...lol)) |

Daran smiled when Rhia came up. "You are Rhia, right," he asked. He had met so many today. Then he turned his attention to Nike. Rhia had said Nike so that must have been her name. He smiled, now that he knew.

Miya almost burst when she realized she had to work with dragon droppings. But she stopped herself, she heard what Christae said and she couldn't lose her chance to stand at the hatching. She mumbled most of the way over to the headwoman. "Christae put me on dragon waste as a chore." she told the woman waiting for instructions.

Nira smiled once she was reassured she would get an egg. She turned back to the race. She was amazed at how long they all could hold they breath. She was glad she didn't participate in the race, she would have lost horribly.
