G'han rolled his eyes. "Devil is right. He can be a little demon", G'han commented as Azure decided to release the hold on his neck. But that only meant Azure would be getting a better position on G'han's shoulder. The blue was interested, curious, about this new flitt. Of course Azure was not content with just being on G'han's shoulder so he scaled down his arm as G'han extended it exasperatedly at Andilay so that the blue could check out Andilay's flitt.
"And he's too curious for his own good", G'han added and shook his head.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
K'dan chuckled, probably nervously. "Yes, yes he is. He knows how to liven any situation. Him and Akki both. I think G'han got plenty of that from Akki though. She was like that far before G'han developed a knack for his brand of humor", K'dan said in honest fashion.
G'han had always been fun to hang around, sure. But he was definently different than before K'dan had left here. He could see some of Akki's influence in the bronzerider. "And he catches just as many rumors as she does too. I think he actually likes the gossip about him. Some of it might just be intentional", K'dan shrugged, offering his personal opinion.
Yes, that's right. Keep the subject away from him and on someone like G'han. A little more comfortable than having to converse with a girl on a more personal level. But it seemed that wasn't to last. Rayn gave a sort of apologetic look and offered her hand. If K'dan didn't blush before, he did now.
He slowly took her hand and shook it. When he thought his hand might have lingered too long, he was quick and sure to pull it away and hoped she wouldn't have gotten so upset at such a forward action. He put the hand behind his head and began rubbing the back of his head. He nearly wanted to curse himself for being so awkward, shy, and embarrassed. No wonder G'han still called him kid!
"Soooooo...", K'dan did his best to think of a subject. Ugh. Why did he have to suck when it came to women? How'd he even luck out with the last one? "You like...flitts?", K'dan asked her. He nearly wanted to smack his forehead. He was sure she thought it was the dumbest question to ask. He certainly thought it was. This was not turning out pretty at all.
Catilena looked at the bronze-rider aghast.
"Oh really? Well, I've never had an encounter with fire-lizards before, so I don't know much about them, I only know slightly more about dragons since I've been left Standing at many hatchings, well hmm, I wonder what I should call you then?" She said, turning her attention back to the creature.
Although it did not look like he really cared about anything other than his belly, for he kept trying to eat her fingers in his voracious feeding, in her mind, Catilena felt a warmth that spread slightly through her body, and she instinctively knew that it was her little mini-dragon telling her in his own way how thankful he was that she was feeding him and that he would protect her with everything he had. Of course, he did not exactly Say such a thing, for he did not have words, but Catilena knew this was how he felt through his small intrusion into her mind.
"Well, I suppose I should name you something appropriate, mother always said that creatures already have their names and they tell us through their behavior, their personalities. I just have to figure out yours, now, what do I call you?" She asked it, even though the rider told her he couldn't say. The little brown flit looked up at her and locked eyes with her. Just then, a variety of colors entered her mind, she could only guess that these were his emotions. First was an orange, a color that Catilena knew to be a dragons chioce for displaying a suspicious feeling, though usually through it's eyes. She guessed it was a natural reaction since she was concentrating so hard on the little creature, she probably made him slightly antagonized. Next, was a vivid blue, showing care toward her, she reached out to the small creature and he rubbed his head against her hand and made a sound that was somewhere between a purr and a coo. Then he lifted his head and cried out to her, and in her mind she saw a pale red. Obviously, such a creature so young could not conceive anger, so she assumed he was still hungry.
She tore off more peices of meat and fed her new friend and she smiled.
"Mosaic. That's what I call him. He gave me so many beautiful colors, colors that showed me his emotions, it was like the ancient art form that combined many different colors to make a single beautiful picture that could be interpreted in different ways. So his name fits, no? My fire-lizard, my little Mosaic." She smiled. She was so delighted at her new creature friend that she had not heard the rider announce the hatching of another lizard. She gave all her attention to Mosaic, Mosaic was all that mattered right now.
A dragonrider might've scoffed at such attention to a creature that wasn't even large enough to be taller than a newly-hatched green, but she didn't care. Mosaic was the closest thing to a dragon she ever had, and he was hers and only hers. He would love her as she loved him, or at least try to, and be no less than her dearest friend.
Orena stared up at him for a moment, shocked speechless as he swiped the meat she had just been feeding to her new pet and proceeded to chew her out. Then she closed her mouth, chin jutting firmly, before she quite realized that he only meant well. Orena's expression cleared again, as she looked in the bowl of more finely chopped meat. "Oh." She replied, simply, before looking at her Copper again.
"A girl? She's awfully big for a girl." She decided. Catching the Copper's head in one hand, she pulled the troubling piece of meat back out of the protesting flitter's mouth. She didn't want to let go of it, and sank her teeth into it in an effort to keep it, shaking her head. "Now, be nice! We're going to make it smaller." Orena told her. Keeping the flitter back from lunging after the meat as Orena tried to tear it up was a trick, as the flitter was trying to go over the restraining arm, or maybe under, wiggling all over in an effort to reclaim her stolen meat. Mouth open and cheeping, she certainly wanted it back!
Orena laughed a bit, and gave her a torn piece to appease her ... if only for a half second. Finally, as it was all torn up, she fed it back to the flitter again. Accepting the bowl again, she took pieces out to give her. "You're a hungry little beasty, aren't you?" She giggled. As she fed one piece after another to the Copper, she tried to decide what to call her. Knowing that it was a girl was helpful... it would have been awfully awkward to have a girl flitter wandering around with a boy flitter's name. "What do you want to be called, huh? Something pretty, right?" She asked, despite how the flitter was too busy stuffing her face to even think about answering any silly questions like that.
Catilena finally turned her attention away from her own flit and watched Orena have a little game of tug-of-war with her oddly colored fire-lizard. She was amazed, she had never seen such a strange color in a Pernese creature, and she wondered if that was one of the many odd colors the dragons of this weyr took.
Her curiosity was mirrored by Mosaic, who proceeded to push the color of curiosity into her mind before retreating back to his food. Catilena chuckled and stood up, gently lifting her protesting fire-lizard and the meat she was given and moved closer to Orena. She allowed her flit to resume eating and turned to the girl.
"What a strange color for a fire-lizard? Is it a boy or a girl? And what is its name?" She asked, hoping to befriend the girl.
Orena glanced up at Catilena when she arrived, and flashed her a grin before turning her gaze back to her flitter, steadily feeding bits of meat to her. "She's a her, I'm told. I thought she was a he ... you know, on account of the size and everything." She shrugged a bit, amused by her own fail. "I haven't named her yet, I'm trying to think of something nice for her. I haven't ever named anything before!" She remarked, sounding excited. "She's so pretty."
Orena tilted her head to one side, as her new pet started to actually start chewing her food before swallowing it. She seemed like she was still hungry, but not totally starving anymore. Switching over from famished barbarian to feasting lady. It made the girl grin a bit at the change. "My my my. Got a flare for the proper, have we? Silly little baby." Orena petted the Copper for a moment, before grinning at Catilena again. "I like her. Do you like yours? Oh! Yours is so cute!!"
As Azure got closer to Mistress, the midnight flitter let out a little peep and stretched out a little, getting comfortable and showing off her pretty hide.
Andilay chuckled a bit. "My, he does make you do so much for his curiousity. But I suppose it is kind of cute.. in a way. And of course, she's lapping up the attention, the little minx. Just hatched and already showing off to the boys. Tsk tsk." She chuckled again, but still continued to stroke the littleling.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Rayn payed attention to what K'dan had to say about G'han and Akki, but didn't have much of an opinion on the topic. She wasn't much of a gossipy person, but she would indeed listen if someone was spilling. Though, most often then not, she found the news to be boring or trivial.
Rayn noticed the way he shook her hand. Slow at first and then quick to release. It showed insecurity as a person, as well as a man. But, it was slightly cute as well.
Rayn was getting ready to be bored again when the subject turned to something she loved... small things.
"Oh, I LOVE the little flitter-babies! I'm so glad Andy could get one! She's been looking so down lately. Must be because there has been none of our normal work here. We're used to either tracking or protecting or something dangerous and alert. Instead she is here as a candidate, with nothing but candidate chores to keep her busy. Even with practice, there is little left to do as far as exciting.
"But this! With the- and the Cuuuuuuuuuute! She is bound to cheer up! And I really hope I get one too! He or she could help me bathe Llanwreth, and definitely brighten the days that are gloomy or just long and tedious with the cute freedom of one so young and free! And they are so colorful!" Rayn was, indeed, gushing. She really didn't do this often. Really. You just had to get her in the right atmosphere, with the right topic, in the right mood. She was positively beaming.

Catilena tilted her head back and laughed, then pet Mosaic's back slightly before replying.
"Of course I don't like mine, I love him! Mosaic is going to be a very good companion. If you are struggling for a name for your oddly-colored flit, just observe her. My mother always told me that everything has a name, you just need to figure it out. Watch your fire-lizard, listen to her, she'll show you what her name is if you pay close attention. Take my Mosaic for example." She said, pointing to her little brown.
"He gave me such wonderful and beautiful colors in my head, showing me his feelings. It reminded me of the old art form that combined many colors to create one beautiful image, so I named him Mosaic. Now, what does your lizard say? How does she act? You'll figure it out if you pay close attention to her." Catilena told her, hoping her advice helped. She always delighted in helping others, and short of naming the girl's flit, this was the best way she felt she could help her.

Azure looked from the newly hatched flitt to G'han. He cocked his head to the side and chirped in confusion. G'han simply chuckled. "He doesn't know what to make of your new little friend", G'han stated between laughs.
G'han started to wonder to himself. This was his first chance to get a new buddy for Azure, but would he actually be able to get one. Would there be enough? He certainly would rather others get one that have yet to have a flitt. But at the same time he couldn't help but desire a new one for himself. Another new companion to add to his motly crew.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
K'dan seemed shocked when Rayn's behavior turned so quickly. He thought he had been boring her and was nearly kicking himself for not being a more interesting person. Unsure and insecure? That was certainly K'dan's department. Atleast when it came to women.
His face showed genuine confusion and he blinked in surprise. Not only was she now happy and energetic but the speed of her words seemed so great that even she couldn't spit out the right ones to make a clear sentence.
"Well...that's....cool", K'dan said slowly, not sure what to make of the sudden change of mood, not only mood but pace. "So you like flitts", K'dan stated kind of obviously. Yeah, he'd spend the night beating his head against the wall. He should have taken more notes from G'han and a different type of training. G'han wasn't just a competant hand to hand fighter, he knew how to woo the ladies. The latter was a skill K'dan lacked greatly. He wanted to hate himself for it, but in a more comical manner than a darker one.
The powder blue hatchling was still wandering around the broken shells on the hearth, creeling plaintively. She didn't seem to realize that there was a hoarde of people just waiting to feed her. This little one was no ordinary blue. Like some of the blues that had hatched before, this one was a female though everyone assumed she was male because she was a blue. She wouldn't reveal her sex until she rose to mate but she would always look slender and feminine. she would be affectionate for her owner and his family, and love to be spoiled. She finally scrambled up to the Lord Holder and began crying piteously for food.
J'kiran's eyebrows furrowed in concern at the sight of her expression. It was clear that something was seriously wrong, but he didn't blame her at all for not wanting to speak of it in the crowd they were standing in. He looked back to the hatching long enough to see a few of the flits wander off; he looked back to Kira when he felt her lean against his shoulder. She hadn't said anything, but the action spoke clearly enough.
He lifted the hand connected to the shoulder she was leaning on and rested it on her shoulder, giving it a comforting but firm squeeze before letting it simply rest there. J'kiran had grown quite fond of their friendship in the time that he'd been there; he hadn't been able to really form a strong friendship with anyone since Kestrel - long gone, now - had stopped talking to him back in his home Hold. He could tell now that Kira needed a friend, and he was perfectly content in offering her any help or comfort that she needed. Even if right now that meant standing and watching a flit hatching in silence.
The Lord Holder practically beamed is the small flitt wished him to feed her. The Lord Holder thought the light colored blue was oddly small and slim for one even of his color, but he thought nothing more of it. Regardless of what it grew to be, he'd be happy with it as his companion.
He extended his hand that held the piece of meat and fed it with a gentle touch. Some part of him was afraid he might startle the creature, or perhaps accidently choke it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kira watched quietly as the Lord Holder from Caspian fed the small blue. The contrast in emotions was drastic. The Lord Holder seemed overjoyed and beaming while Kira's face held a blank expression and she seemed deeply depressed about something. This was certainly a darker Kira than the weyr was use to.
When Jil squeezed her shoulder, it felt oddly comforting. As he rested his arm on her shoulder, Kira seemed to give him more of her trust and lean into him more. She was almost glad now that she had been forced to come by her copper. It was a pleasant feeling to be comforted, considering Kira had practically shut herself off before now, it was a sort of new feeling.
Still, that did little to lighten her spirits at all. But she was thankful for Jil. Their friendship had started out as another one of Kira's games. Kira was a tease. She knew it, and she acted on it. Poor Jil was simply meant to be another target. And just like all other targets before, she'd get them to drool over her and she'd do her best to manipulate them to her whim. More often than not, she got what she wanted from them.
But Jil was of a different sort. He had manners, he was a gentleman. It was something that Kira hadn't really encountered before. It sparked in her a bit of curiousity, but from curiousity it turned into a wonderful friendship. She could rely and trust in Jil more than she could anyone else really. He never really flirted with her, he treated her like a lady. Kira found some adoration in that.
And because of all that, she was able to find someone who would be there for her. It was something she hadn't felt for a long time, not since her days at the hold with her brother. And even he wasn't the kind sort. Gruff exterior, hard expressions. He was one of the tough guys of the hold and Kira really looked up to him as a guardian or protector of sorts. With Jil, she felt she got that and a talking companion. Her brother wasn't one to talk, at all.
With all these memories Kira thought on, her muscles seemed to ease up just a little. She wasn't as tense as she was before. Still tense, just not as tense.

~Calnia~ Calnia watched as a few babies impressed and a another hatched and soon impressed as well. She was sure she would be walking away from the table without a firelizard of her own. Again. She had Jemnith, but to impress a firelizard was every child's dream, even though she wasn't a child anymore. She had always hoped to impress a firelizard.
~Laerin~ Laerin's eyes darted from one impression to the next, as quickly as she could witness them. And a blurr caught her attention. A beautiful copper hatchling had hatched and impressed. Such a pretty color!
~Adrian~ Adrian was excited about the hatching babies. They all seemed healthy and impressed fairly quickly. Her blue firelizard, Zwei, was watching the hatching too. At the impression of the powder blue, he trilled. Adrian was curious why he'd done that, but knowing Zwei, she wouldn't be able to understand his answer, so she ignored it and waited to see what happened next.

Andilay lightly chuckled. "Well, he doesn't have to 'make' anything of her. She's mine. My little mistress, all shiny and bright." Andilay allowed the flitter to crawl up her shoulder, where the little thing flicked out it's tongue at Azure before perching by Andilay's neck, her tail wrapped possessively around it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Rayn blinked. Isn't that what she had been saying? "Well, yeah. I like pretty much anything small that needs to be taken care of."
Rayn shrugged and glanced at Llanwreth. I think this one may be slightly daft.
Hmmm? Oh, I dunno mine. You can be quite imposing, even when your being nice. Or should I say intense? Very passionate, whether it is the feeling of anger, hate, or happiness and your 'warm fuzzies'.
I don't know whether to be flattered or insulted.
That choice is entirely up to you, mine. Though, I meant it in a positive way.
"Hmph"
[Sorry if this post isn't very long or detailed, I can't think of anything to directly respond to xD; ]
J'kiran continued watching the hatching with a half attention, keeping the other good portion of his attention focused on Kira to a certain degree. He wasn't constantly watching her in a literal manner, but he was 'keeping on eye on her' enough that when her muscles loosened and the tenseness sifted out of her, he noticed it. The muscles in her shoulder under his hand loosened considerable, and he felt it when she leaned more against him enough so that he braced his legs more so as not to let either of them fall over.
"If you would like," he sparked a bit of seemingly idle conversation,"We could go for a walk on our off time from training." He offered her his usual warm smile, but the worry that was still stuck in his mind was obvious in the expression. "I know we're not able to go very far from the Weyr while we're in training, but there are - if I'm correct - at least a few areas we're able to wander into." He let the comment rest there for a moment. Then, as if there was some need to add in a further excuse for her to possibly go with him and voice her troubles, he added, "Kaenith is often asking to have more time to play with his clutch-siblings. It would certainly be good to let him and Yours have some time to relax."
G'han smirked. "Azure's a naturally curious creature. He feels the need to be informed on many things. Whether for his own good or not", G'han said in amusement.
Azure cocked his head to the side and let out a chirp when the newly hatched flitt crawled away. He seemed to give up a bit disinterestedly and perch himself on top of G'han's head. "Oh good. He found his favorite spot. I was beginning to get worried he wouldn't", G'han stated a bit sarcasticly.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
K'dan smiled. He was seeing now where all that....well, that...came from. He decided to indulge on it and be a subject to talk about. "Ah yes. I remember Hydrath's early days. He was the smallest blue of the bunch. He was only second smallest to a...fellow weyrling's white", K'dan spoke up.
Ah yes, he avoided the name of that weyrling. The same weyrling K'dan was romanticly involved in. The weyrling that K'dan eventually had a child with. The same weyrling that left him. If K'dan was sad at all, he wasn't showing it even slightly. He may have been a total n00b when it came to women, but he was pretty good at concealing any emotions he didn't want seeping through.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kira sighed a bit. It felt good to have him around at this time. When he talked of taking a walk, Kira seemed to like that idea. She didn't feel like talking or anything, but she did feel like a walk would be nice. She listened to him as he talked of the possibility, convincing her even more that it'd be a good idea. She nodded in agreement. "A walk sounds...nice", she said simply, but the first thing she had said at all.
Andilay paused as Mistress sent her some colors that showed her amusement at the older blue. "Heh, Mistress finds you two funny."
Andilay smiled and reached an affectionate hand and caressed G'hans cheek. "I find you adorable."
Andilay shifted a bit, but didn't realize just how close the lord holder was to her, and accidentally whacked him with the tip of her sheathed sword. "Oh! I'm very sorry! It's so crowded here... I guess I didn't notice just how much."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Rayn was quiet about a second before she asked tightly, "Are you calling Llanwreth small?" Her lips tightened at the side in suppressed anger. "I'll have you know, he's big for a brown. He may be small now, and small is a relative term, but he will get much bigger."
Mine. Mine..... MINE! I do not think he meant it that way. Miiiiiiiiiine. Do not be so quick to anger. Please?
Rayn grumbled to her brown.

K'dan's eyes widened in shock. He had honestly tried to make small talk. Wasn't a conversation topic necessary when you were trying to...do whatever it was that G'han did best. Well even the simpler steps seemed to blow up in his face.
"No. No that's not what I meant at all. I was simply remarking on my own dragon's smaller days...", K'dan had turned a bit red with embarrassment. Now he just felt foolish. "I'm sorry. I'm just-I'll...", he stumbled over his words. "...leave", he finally spit out. With that he bowed slightly in a polite manner and did his best to vanish in the crowd. Right now he just wanted to bash his head against the nearest wall.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
G'han tilted his head to the side, leaning into her hand, and smiled. "Adorable? I guess I can take that. But if you're trying to woo me, I've heard better compliments coming from you", he admitted with a smirk.
When G'han tilted his head, the blue slid from his head and flew circles above him, chittering away. "Oh stuff it", G'han exclaimed a bit annoyed at the noisy flitt.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Bynor had just secured his blue flitt and she was stuffing herself with meat when he was poked. He didn't pay too much attention to it at first. It was a large crowd after all and he was paying much more attention to his new flitt. Now if only he could think of a name for the flitt he considered a girl.
But he heard a woman apologizing to him now. That certainly got the Lord Holder's attention. "It's quite alright my dear, think nothing of it", he said with a polite smile. He looked and noticed the woman had a flitt herself. "Did you just aquire this one as well?", he asked, as he pointed at Mistress.

Orena looked up at Catelina, and smiled. "Really? She says that? Wow, I wish my ma was so neat. Mine just tells me about how I should act like a lady." the snort that followed that was indication enough of what Orena thought of that. She liked being playful and running around with the others and getting into things. It was fun. Sitting with her back ramrod straight and with her nose in the air in flouncy dresses just wasn't her style. She'd much rather be vaulting the beastpens and chasing some lad down to play-wrestle.
"Well! Let's see what your name is, little girl." Orena said, concentrating on her flitter again, lifting the Copper up to look at her intently. The baby flitter lifted her head regally, and flipped her new wings upward, looking for all the world like she was posing. As if she had some idea of just how important and elegant she was. "My... nothing like the savage beast you used to be!" Orena giggled. "It's almost like you're your own Nemesis, aren't you? You silly creature."

"..........! ... Admin's Note:
" Rayn's mouth twisted as her internal fealings started eating at her. She did not mean to... scare this person away.
Miiiine!! Why'd you do that?! Admin's Note:
Go apologize!
Rayn frowned. That, is a very wise piece of advice. I think I will take it.
Rayn followed K'dan quickly. She grasped his shoulder lightly. "Wait, I'm sorry. I have a quick temper... and as the second female brown rider here... it helps sometimes. And, I'm sensitive, I'm sure, as you would be if you thought someone was talking ill of your blue. Please, come back with me. I would like to continue talking to you... but I do also want a flitter of my own."
She gave him a small smile.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Andilay gave the lord holder a releaved smile. "Oh, I'm glad. Sometimes I get people rather good with my old friend here." Andilay patted her sword. She nodded when the lord asked her about the origin of her flit. "Yes, she was the third to hatch. Isn't she beautiful? I named her mistress. I find yours quite enchanting as well. The blue is very serene, like that of the sea, it's very marine-esk."
Andilay gave G'han a sly smile. "Adorable, sexy, handsome stud muffin that makes me think of things not suitable for children." She made a little grr-ing noise in her throat to emphasize her point. "Do you feel properly wooed now?"
Bynor smiled. "Yes, she's quite something. But I haven't a clue what to name her yet", he said as he looked at the blue flitt who just chirped at him innocently. The Lord Holder scratched it's head, he thought the creature was adorable. When he looked back to see the young woman paying attention to one of the men in the crowd, Bynor smiled knowingly and turned his attention back to the hatching and his flitt.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
G'han scratched his chin for a moment. "Hm. Am I properly wooed?", he asked and looked about the room as though someone else would have the answer. He then turned back to her with a wide grin. "Yeah, I'm properly wooed", he said. He then leaned in and gave Andilay a peck on the cheek. He wasn't going to be so bold as to make out with her in public. Especially since the Lord Holder was among them.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
K'dan seemed to freeze as someone had put their hand on his shoulder. Ah crap. I've been found. He had to wonder if he'd be chewed out again. This girl certainly seemed to...change moods quickly. From unamused to overly perky and bubbly to mad all in but a few minutes.
K'dan seemed relieved that instead of an earful, he was getting an apology. "Yes, I understand it well. Being the smallest blue, Hydrath and I had to endure much from a large majority of people", K'dan admitted to her. Which may have played into some of K'dan's more skiddish nature. He was honestly trying to get past it, but that was turns and turns of a character trait that K'dan had kept with him. It wouldn't leave him in a day, or even a few sevendays.
K'dan seemed to blush slightly when she said she wanted to talk to him. "I would like to talk to you as well", K'dan said, a bit more relieved and a bit happier. He walked back with her. Wait, did his heart just flutter a bit?
Oh my K'dan. Don't tell me you're becoming smitten already! Hydrath sounded very amused, but at the same time slightly concerned. No, no of course not! It was just...a nice compliment! It's not like you go around saying you like to talk to me. Hydrath snorted. You'd have me go around lying like that? K'dan rolled his eyes. Oh hah hah hah. Cut the sarcasm.
