Tali was out by a stream, doing laundry and humming a happy song. She hated chores but it was necessary she guessed. She didn't talk much to the others. True, Rogin didn't look like much of a threat but then again, neither did she. She was too young to have an interest or she thought. She didn't ask any questions she just kept working in silence.
Talavi was one of the few that ever talked. She observed. She listened, always aware of what was around her at all time even if they were not aware of it. She could be a bystander and have someone say something important and they would have no knowedge that she was ever there. She laughed and smirked as she looked around and no one was in sight.
She got up and started dancing. She twirled and whirled around and a smile on her face. She was giggling and splashing water up in the water to let it fall in her face. She always tried to play the hard arse in front of the others.
Never has she felt so free and was glad of it. She put her arms out and spun slowly. She wished she had wings only to show everyone how she felt. Her heart took flight as she faced the fact her father was finally dead. This was a first time she ever tasted freedom. Free to do whatever she wished, well with reason reason. She felt alive...and it was all thanks to Rogin.
His mere presence encourged her to do the deed. She was very grateful. Suddenly, she didn't mind the work. She felt proud, a feeling that she never understood. She laughed again, happily as she was twirling about. She had forgotten about he father almost completly but never forgot the anger. It was buried down deep inside waiting for the right time.
For now, Tali expressed how she felt through her dancing.

Little did she know that eyes were watching her. They did not make a move or sound only watched. It seemed to entertain the eyes and they waited wanting to see her dance. It was entertaining to the eyes. Once the dance was gone long the eyes moved and came forward. "I am glad to see that you are able to play when there is work to be done." He said.

She whipped around and saw a man there. She cursed herself for being so stupid. Terror instantly washed over her. She backed away from him.
"I-I'm sorry, sir." she averted His gaze and went back to work. She swore under her breath as she went back to her laundry. She chuckled. "I can tell you aren't used a women's touch. I am not as girlie as you think I am." she said while washing their clothes.

Veran watched her and glared at her. "I am surprised you think it is still wise to mock me?" He began to move to her. A slight look of him wanting to kill her was in her eyes. Veran looked around the river for any sight of anyone else. When there was no sight he smiled. He would enjoy himself a bit.

Tali kept on working, unaware of what Veran had in store for her. His presence made her a bit more than comfortable.
"Yes, yes I do." she looked him directly in his eyes and saw the look of death in his eyes. Tali was different. She can stare death in the eye and still be fearless. "I'm not scared of no one, not even death. You forget, sir, I had a father that used to beat me every single minute of the day."
Talavi narrowed her eyes at him. "You think just by lugging around two knifes is going to frighten me?" She scoffed. "Hardly, old man!"

Veran looked at her and lifted a brow. "No. But i am not the type to use tools to scare. I don't need to. If you think you have nothing to fear then let us see what you have to offer to our family." A twisted smile crossed his lips.

Tali stalked him like an animal, circling him.
"You sure you want to do this?" she asked. Her eyes did not avert his gaze upon her. She charged from behind. She grabbed his neck and her small frame just hung there...and didn't go anywhere. She punched him in the side. She drew her knife on him. Tali flipped off of him and thrusted and sliced his side.

Veran stepped back from her attack. He struck out quick with his hand and grabbed her wrist and twisted her. He swept her legs and pressed down with her own arm. Veran pinned her and his free hand pinned her legs. "That was easy." he said. Veran glared at her and the twisted smile went to his lips.

Tali crossed both index and middle finger together in a 'spear' and jabbed him in the throat, not too deep but just enough to deter him from doing anything else for a few moments. She kissed him on the lips, only a peck. Then tucked in her knees, managed to get her feet on his chest and pushed him away. She brought over her knife and tried to slash him.
"Didn't expect -that- now, did you? I told you to back off." She smiled. "I'd like you see your ugly mug on my wall!" A spark of excitement and mischievious glint was in her eye. She was taunting him. "You would look very nice as a wall hanging!" she chuckled, evilly.

Veran watched her and saw the attack. He eased his neck enough so the fingers would press into a soft part of his neck, doing nothing. He stood infront of her and when she attacked again he grabbed her wrist and wrenched it backwards, aiming to dislocate her shoulder. His feet swept hers from under her and he pinned her to the floor. Veran disarmed her of the knife and placed a heavy hand on her throat. An even more Evil and twisted grin crossed his lips.

Tali cried out in agony. Fear washed over her for the first time in her life. Her eyes were wide as he put his hand to her throat. This old man wasn't what he appeared to be. He was fast and agile. She saw no way out of this one. He had evaded her first two attacks and before she knew it, he had her by her throat!
She screamed in pain when he dislocated her shoulder as she heard a loud 'POP'. She writhed in excruciating affliction as she put her hand on his. She managed to wrench it free and crawled out from underneath him. She backed away from Varen, crawling on the ground and laid against a tree. The fear of dying right then was great.
"You are death incarnate!" she yelled. "Okay! Okay! I fear you. For the first time in my life, I fear something! If you wanted me to get to know fear.......you have succeeded! Just please, don't kill me!"
Tali was not fooling around anymore. She truly was afraid of this man. "Why now? Why am I afraid now?" she asked. She was shaking. Her blood ran cold and terror had struck almost instantaneously as she knew that her possible death and eminent.

Veran grinned at he watched her crawl away. He was too far gone in his happy twisted world. He moved slowly to her, in no hurry. "I do not care if you fear me. Only that I get to kill you. I love the look of pain and agony on those I kill. The look of Terror brings joy to me." Veran brought out his knives. They were for fun, not fighting. He continued to walk to her. "Now where should I cut first?" he asked.

Tali took off running. Away from this insane killer. She screamed again in terror. She did not like the feeling of fear, it was...........different and she had knowledge to control it. She ran until she got to a high cliff, over looking the ocean below. She peeked over and felt dizzy due to the height. There were jagged rocks below and who knows what in the water!
She looked around and saw no where to go but down. She went down carefully and she she a ledge. There was a tree branch growing out from the surface of the cliff. Hand over hand she went out on it and grabbed on the tree root and swung over to the ledge, barely making it. She regained her balance and flattened herself against the cliff wall. She tried to quiet her breathing. Still terror sticken, she was shaking still. That man terrified her and he was going to kill her!
All this talk about her being the bad arse, that's all it was...just talk. She didn't have the experince to back it up and she didn't have enough confidence to act upon her thought.
She looked down once more to the jagged rocks below. She thought of jumping but what would that prove. She already proved to herself that she was a coward by running away instead of fighting. Her heartbeat was going a mile a minute as she tried her best to calm it doww.

Veran walked slowly and without much need to hurry. He enjoyed the hunt. He just needed to make sure Rogin never found out. It was one drudge. She would be replaced. Not even missed. Veran moved through the forest following the footprints the girl left. A smile went to his lips. We found himself at the cliff and looked around. She was not to be seen. He looked over the cliff and chuckled. "This will not save you." he yelled. He moved around and smiled once more.

Talavi. Grasping for life, she could only go down. Couldn't go up or HE will kill her so she went down to the rocks below. Keeping to the edge and making sure she wasn't seen.
"Shard it all!! she cursed. She saw a cove in the side of the rocks. She ducked inside and waited. Waiting for what? For him to end her of life? It had come her knowledge that she didn't want this. To be always on the run, looking over you shoulder each time you did something wrong.
If her death was left unnoticed, then she didn't want any part of it. She was /really/ scared at this point and she was cold. The ocean breeze didn't help any and more frightening the tide was to be coming soon. She only hoped he would not find her alive but drowned. She would rather drowned then being cut up by that maniac! The vision came back of hiding under her house from her father. She stayed quiet as she watched as the water level got a little higher. She didn't care to live....just not by Veran's knives.
She could fake her death so he would leave her alone but what would that prove? Nothing. The rage inside built again. No more! She looked up and wondered what he would do, what Rogin would do if He found her missing.
She got up and swam to the out of the cove and just started swimming away. She was a strong swimmer. She went underwater. Tali thought it was a Family but Veran was going to kill her! Another thing, Tiaholt had jumped in front of that arrow when it could have been her. Talavi was livid about that. It should have been her. She just had a thought. What if she was captured by them and forced to talk? If that happened, she wouldn't talk. Its not like she would be missed. She would be replaced.
If she didn't find land soon, she'd drowned! She cried for help as a gaint sea snake emerged from the water. It was coming towards her, mouth open as if it was going to bite her!

Spike dove onto the snake and put his claws deep as his teeth sunk into the head. He beat his wings and took the snake a bit out of water. Spike hissed and shrieked. Rogin stood on the cliff, his arms folded. A look of annoyance on his face. Konta was slightly behind him holding Veran in a bear hug. Rogin watched her, waiting for her to either come back or leave.

Tali saw Rogin on the cliff. She had a decision to make. Either go back and work for Rogin or leave and face the dangers of life alone. Would she be wanted? Would anyone care to talk to her, love her? She sighed. What if Veran attacked her again? Could she risk that?
She remembered what Tiaholt said about Rogin, about he did have a heart. She considered about going back, seriously. Even though she was the newest recruit, she felt like a toy rather than a member. Still.....
Tali was swimming back to shore when a storm slowly was rolliing in. She heard thunder.
"Great! What -else- can go wrong today? Being captured would top it all!!" She exclaimed, sarcastically. Her anger towards her father....the dead one...was still there. Suddenly she felt ashamed. Of what? She wasn't sure. She ducked underwater so a dragonrider would not see her if one should happen to pass by. She went back to ther cove she found when she saw something shiney.
"Hey, what's that?" Tali went to pick it up.....it was a jewel! A big one too! Her eyes were wide and a smile emerged on her lips. She followed the passage to a large cavern.
"Whoa!" she gasped. She saw treasure and a LOT of it. Gold, silver, copper...swords and axes. Jewels of all sorts of colors. Excited by the find, she exited the cove and climbed up the cliff side like a treehopper would a tree.
"Rogin, look what I found." She handed Him the large blue jewel. "There's more in the cove just underneath this cliff. A LOT more. I guess I should aplogize for running off like that. I-I was trying to escape." She didn't mention the part where Veran attacked her. "I didn't feel that I was wanted and that no one would miss me if I had." She looked at Veran and looked away. She sighed. "Veran just showed me just how much of a coward I am. I've never feared death before until I met him. That man scares me!"
The thunder was getting closer and the winds were picking up. Dark, forboding clouds were rolling in. It was raining a bit, not a big storm but a little one. Her keen eye saw something on the horizon.
"Rogin, what's that?" she asked and pointed at a dot on the horizon.

Rogin watched Talavi. He saw her swim into the cove. He knew of the treasures. He put them there. When she asked about the dot he looked to see. The shape was too far to really tell. What was in the distance? Veran finally calmed down and Konta let him go. They all looked at what the dot could be.

The shape was getting closer and it was a shape of a dragon! Panick set in.
"Rogin, that's....that's uh- that's a dragon." Tali squinted her eyes. "What do we do?"

Rogin watched the shape. He was well prepared for just such events. He looked to Konta and Veran and they took off. Konta began hiding tracks while Veran told the others and got them inside as well. Rogin took Talavi back to the cave and once inside Konta and Veran began pushing a boulder in front of the entrance and left a hole big enough for Veran to fit through. Veran made quick work as he covered the mouth of the cave with branches so it looked like a tree had fallen. He eased his way back in and then they waited. There was always a second way out. Only a fool trapped themselves in without a backout plan.
