Layout?

Basically, I've been bored. yeah, summer's a killer.

I wanted to see how the site looked with a sidebar. And, well I rather liked it, so, I showed it to Hawk, and now we're here.

- Please. If you said either of the "With adjustments" answers - just drop a line in here - as a guest if you're scared (I wont bite!) - and tell us what you think the adjustments should be, because sometimes, you can't see the good for the bad.

Anyway - New sidebar layout example:

Just a note – but I think Ive worked out how to make the coding and the colours and stuff match EVERY skin, so if you are ok darkskin – I can make it co into THOSE colours, as opposed to the green to match Weyrworld skin, so it all fits nicely.

Voted ^^ I know we don't have to say what we voted for but I voted we keep it the same. Though, I'm rather hidebound and stick to what I'm used to though I suppose I could get used to the new layout it's not that bad. Buuuut I like the chatango box up top, and I'll miss the prettypretty picture. The only thing I really don't like is the size of the staff box the font looks HUGE. The affiliate scrolly thing is uber cool though.

There is a reason for it’s hugeness…. I was… rushing xD I know it’s not perfect, it still needs tweeking. And this is why I ask for feedback =D

And the banner? (if that’s what you’re referring to and not the Trader’s wagons image) I was just being lazy – that’d be there.

The trader’s wagon? That would disappear unless… I encorporated it somewhere else…but that’d be difficult.

Chatango > CBox

We had a vote for chatango vs cbox and chatango won. If ever the members call for a vote we can see about making a cbox that matches the color scheme of the weyr

The one thing I don't like about chatango
Is the fact that it doesn't work all the time or at all for some people

The bad thing about C-box is the fact that you have to refreshhurrr

You can fix your C-box so that it auto refreshes Akki. :]

Yeah. Aphelion has one that auto refreshes. I could ask Nessa and Marnark (Our Marnark is Crystalyn on Aphe) how they got it to do that and it would auto refresh like Chatango does.

scrollers look neat, they really do... but there's something about them ... I forget what. Aphelion used to have them. But we ripped them out and used statics. I wish I could remember why. But the scrollers gave us horrible amounts of headache for somereason. gurrr ... wish I could say why. Hate to say stuff and not be able to say why.

Sidebars: I find them difficult. Finding the chat box for one, when navigating different length pages can be difficult sometimes ... and makes posting and keeping up with chat at the same time impossible. BUT: that trick of posting and chatting too only works w/ the chat at the bottom ... so I guess that's moot.

I like cboxes over chatango (never run into a chatango until here, tho), cause I can *use* a cbox. Chatango won't load at all. And yes, cboxes can be made to autorefresh... but I beleive it's a subscription thing. Nessa paid for the one on Aphelion, so it autorefreshes as people post. I don't know much about that, rates and what not. But I think it was something like $6 or something. I am not sure.

I really do like the current lay out, for the most part. The only thing that I would change, is to not make the message boards quite so wide. They make paragraphs into single lines, and that's a little odd. But it's nothing major. I'll play no matter what the board looks like. So long as the board loads and the colors aren't psychodelic in nature. XD <3

Hmm - that was my discovery with the sidebar.

It works with ALL skins. And isn't skin specific. So, if you are on Dark skin - then it will be in the same colours as Dark skin, but for those of us on Weyrworld, it will be in these colours, for those on Shek's skin - it'll be in shek's colours. So... Yeah - like that? It'll work fantastically.
