The bluerider slipped a hand behind her neck and grinned crookedly, lifting one hand up in a ‘guilty’ motion. “I normally sleep in. Don’t hold it against me.” She said with an innocent smile, that probably really wasn’t so innocent after all. She liked her sleep, what else was there to say? Akki grinned widely as N’kal told Sh’rel that acting his age wouldn’t be very exciting. She definitely approved of the new Weyrleader now, a full one hundred percent. How could she not? The man was charming, kind, and all in favour of acting a bit immature at times. She had no choice but to fully support him as Weyrleader.
She grinned at N’kals reaction, catching the bright humour in his eyes as his smile grew bigger and bigger. “I can’t deny that. Life would be pretty boring if you couldn’t start up a few awkward conversations and laugh uncomfortably at long, silent pauses.” Akki said, bobbing her head up in agreement. She couldn’t help but thrive off of the awkward or uncomfortable moments she sometimes mad, it was just too fun to see everyone’s reaction to it. Akki gave her crooked smile once more and gave the man a thumbs up, “I plan on telling Christae that I approve of you. Mind you, even if I disapproved that probably wouldn’t mean much…” She trailed off with a slight frown.
Akki caught the softer smile the man sent to Hasima and gave him extra points for that. He could tell right away that the yellowrider wasn’t the type of person who would talk loudly in a crowd, but instead avoid a crowd if possible. Hasima blushed slightly as N’kal made quite a few good points and sent the man a smile and a soft “Thank you” as he complimented her pale yellow. She liked him already, he did not seem like the type of person to judge her cruelly that was for sure. Akki turned slightly and nodded towards Shino, recognizing the boy from where they went to the lake a few times and from the candidate classes.

Shino bowed respectfully to the group and nodded to the new weyrleader. "A pleasure to meet you. My name is Shino." He replied to the man who was the new weyrleader. Shino had a feeling that this conversation between the man and the other riders would be interesting. He knew he had made the best choice in coming out to the weyrbowl for the morning.

N'kal smiled at the bluerider, although he didn't quite know how to take her enthusiasm. "I'm not entirely sure if your approval is good or bad, Miss Akki," he said, though the teasing was there in his voice. Hard to hear, but there nonetheless. He was obviously pleased that Akki approved of him, feeling grateful to have such an open declaration from any of the riders. He had been doing his best to not feel like an outsider in the Weyr that he was to be one of the leaders for, but he hadn't really opened up until this woman showed him that Dark Moon was not full of sulky riders who liked tradition and serious faces. The development pleased him greatly to be honest, for he doubted that he could lead a Weyr that refused to have a bit of fun now and then.
He nodded at Hasima when she spoke, happy that she would also open up to him. Although her mannerisms were much different than the woman that she near-clung to, but it still seemed to be her way of accepting the man. And he was glad to see that more than just one outgoing rider would be willing to have him here. Perhaps even support him as leader, for however long that would be.
The boy's bow took him a bit by surprise, not entirely something he would have expected to get. And then he reminded himself of the title that had been placed in front of his name, and such traditional courtesies were something that he would simply have to get used to. He returned a respectful nod, "A pleasure to meet you as well Shino," he said simply, the smile on his face open and welcome, though his voice still rough and hard on the ears. The constant talking didn't seem to be doing his throat any good, but he knew better. The best way to get around sore muscles was simply to use them over and over. The lack of use was the painful part, and it would pass with time.

Shino was not phased by the rough voice. He understood what it was like to be like that. When he had traveled to this weyr, he had lost his voice along the way, sounding like a dying man rather than a youthful candidate. He sighed and crossed his arms. "Well, glad you're here..." he said after a few minutes of thinking. Shino looked around again once, then smiled. He was glad this new Weyrleader was open and friendly.

K'tan had heard that there'd been an open flight for the Sr. Weyrwoman, and had been told an incoming transfer had been the victor of the flight. While that was unexpected news to the bluerider, it wasn't necessarily a bad thing, in his mind. From what news he'd gathered, the Weyrwoman had been running the Weyr by herself until the flight. Maybe some help would do the woman good. At least that as his opinion. Others had voiced different ones.
It was not as if open flights were uncommon. So the fact that an outsider or transfer had won was not uncommonly heard of, either. However, he had heard nervous murmerings from Weyrfolk. Apparently, the last Weyrleader had been horrid. Had stolen the Weyrwoman's own child from her, had caused havoc amongst the Weyrfolk and riders alike. Was it any wonder that some of them were not happy with a stranger having won the Queen's flight? Well, K'tan wasn't one to judge. He wanted to meet the new WL for himself.
He'd been given directions to the new WL's whereabouts, and found the man easily enough. He seized him up and decided that he looked an average enough fellow. So, walking up to him the young man stuck out a hand and said, "bluerider K'tan, Weyrleader. It's a pleasure to meet you. I don't believe I've gotten your name, however... Admin's Note:[/hr]" He liked to know a person's name. Especially if that person were the WL of the Weyr he was a rider in.

N'kal smiled at the boy, grateful to have any approval that would be given to him. He blinked at the newest arrival to their bunch, but smiled still. This was the first completely professional and down-to-business person that he had come across from the Weyr. And although it was a good thing to have them, he had almost doubted their existence with the mass of interesting and enjoyable characters who had so far come to greet him.
"N'kal," he replied to the man's question of him, "of Bronze Asuth." He took the hand extended to him and gave it one firm shake/squeeze before releasing it and turning a full smile on the man, "And a pleasure to meet you as well K'tan. And might I ask the name of your blue?" he asked pleasantly, "I need to get everyone's name straight, especially with that of their dragon," he explained his reasoning for asking. Although it wasn't strange for a rider to ask the name of another man's dragon. Most riders had a better ability to remember dragon names than those of their riders.

K'tan was glad to find that at least the man seemed friendly enough. He noted there was a different sound to the man's voice-perhaps some damage to the vocal cords?-but the thought didn't stay lingering for more than a brief second. The realization was just another quirk to a person, really. When asked for his blue's name, K'tan smiled too. "Vyralth is his name, N'kal of bronze Asuth." He said the name contemplatively, as if he were going over it slowly as if to remember it.
It could be said that K'tan's mannerisms were professional, indeed. He was a good young man, really, and served the Weyr he'd been at before this one to the best of his abilities. He was also one of those that firmly believed thread was coming back. If it were not for his ranking as a bluerider, it is most certain that he would have been given some task along the lines of Wingleader, Wingsecond, or perhaps even Weyrlingmaster. These would have been jobs that suited him. However, he followed others in charge so well that perhaps it was simpler that he had indeed impressed his blue.
K'tan watched as a red-haired Candidate he recognized came up to join the group-Kaiya, was it? He thought so, though his memory with Candidate names was no where near up to par yet.
~~~~~~
Kaiya it was indeed, and the Candidate had curiously meandered on over when she heard many voices-some by way of introduction. She liked meeting new people well enough, and decided to go see who all the fuss was about. Must have been a transfer, at least, for all the people there were making greetings!
When she came into sight of whom it was, however, she got a tad nervous. Very unusual for the confident and outgoing girl, but nonetheless, seeing the man she knew to have won Kaith's flight, their new Weyrleader, somehow jangled some nerve or another. This was to be the man who was going to be leading thier Weyr. If she impressed, then it'd be even more important. She didn't want to make a bad first impression.
Walking up to the man slowly, so as not to interrupt K'tan and him, she managed to get close enough to at least see him clearly. Well, he was no handsome as shells devil, but he had an interesting look about him, at least. He looked like he had some character to him, and while she had been one of those rooting for another man's bronze to win, she supposed that this was their Weyrleader, and wondered when, or if, that other man would show up to greet him at some point in time...
OOC: Actually I have heard the opposite. Usually the riders remember the riders names and the dragons remember the dragons names. It is somewhat unusual for a dragon to remember another rider's name..at least thats what I remember from one of the books.
OOC: Nope, it's the other way around Hawk ^_^ I can't remember if it was F'nor or F'lar who teased his half brother, but it was certainly about remembering the names of the dragons and not the riders! I'll look it up to make sure ^_^ Besides, I think that would be the more likely situation with either loners or Wingleaders, as loners would be less likely to associate with the people, and Wingleaders need to know which dragon is which from top or bottom during 'Fall. But that's just my assumption for it! lol ^_^
I'll let you know what I find, and I hope none of that came out to sound rude =/
IC:
N'kal smiled at the bluerider, happy to see a bit of acceptance from him. The man seemed more strict of himself than N'kal had expected. Or perhaps he was merely trying to make a decent first impression? No, the ease with which he handled himself flamed down that thought. There was certainly no way that this man was at all insecure of himself. He seemed quite the opposite of Akki, however, acting much older and wiser where the other bluerider seemed to be enjoying herself in any way she possibly good. Both were good personalities to have about, and both were equally unknown to N'kal, as he hadn't done very much with people back at Igen. That was certianly going to change here at Dark Moon, as if it hadn't already!
His eyes caught the sight of red hair, something of an oddity to him. Certainly there had been a few fair haired people in the North, but by the looks of it there were more to be seen here in the South. She was a pretty girl, young, and appearing indecisive. He gave her a nod and a friendly smile, more in an effort to let her know that it was safe to speak up even in this intimidating group...or perhaps he was the only intimidating one? That would be understandable, a new person, just granted the Weyrleader rank, but the smile on his face was anything but intimidating as he looked at her, "Good morning," he said openly to the girl, hoping to ease a bit of the nerves she may have had upon approaching him, especially in a group so large as this. Of course he was pleased to see so many people, and hoped to be seeing more.
