(( Heh, it feels almost taboo to be posting on the Sands board when I don't have a Queen, but that's where he is. ^^
Also I'm not sure if the faster Graduation means faster aging, in any case, this would only be a month or more into their training. ))
Gray eyes surveyed the Hatching Sands, empty this time of the Turn. Not many people paid attention to the Sands when there wasn't a Queen anywhere near Clutching. While it was still a clean area, he could tell from small bits of rock and little pieces of parchment that it was neglected. He wondered how often a drudge would come in here and clean, if at all, when it was deserted. The next flight was a turn away, maybe closer if the junior queen rose.
K'nest wasn't sure what he was looking for. It was rather early in the morning, after midnight snack and before morning lessons. It was true what they said about Weyrlings, there really wasn't much time to do anything other than eat, sleep, and learn. He envied the full riders. Their dragons just jumped off a ledge for their food.
~ You don't like getting my food? I'm as good as any full dragon, I can catch all my food by myself. Then you'd have more time to yourself and sleep. Would you like that better? ~
K'nest smiled and turned slightly to watch Temesth walk towards him. His other half, his silvery blue dragonet, his life. ~ I would gladly feed you all the days of my life if that's what it took. Hush now. ~ In days past he had tried to make the other see that he loved the blue truly, now he accepted it. It might take time for Temesth to figure it out on his own, but his great blue was smart enough to figure out how much K'nest cared for him.
The dragonet leaned against K'nest's leg and left K'nest to his thoughts. By now he was well used to his bonded's silence. While it was true that K'nest liked the silence of his own thoughts, it didn't bother him so much to talk to Temesth. He found he even liked it. It had made him start venturing out of the Barracks every now and again. It was hard for him to find ways to make contact with people, so many turns that children spent learning how to interact were the same turns he spent in silence and solitude.
It was, in part, why he was here. Mostly he just wanted to see the Hatching Sands. When he came here for the Hatching, the blue came to him quickly and he couldn't absorb it all. It was a golden blur in his mind, it was hard to focus on and held all the qualities that a dream might. It was jarring to see it again, without the noise and fanfair. Despite it's less grand appearance, it was still the place where he had met the most important individual in his short life.
