Weyrling Graduation

Rhiyo had been walking by when he suddenly saw the Weyrwoman was speaking to the Weyrlings. His curiosity got the better of him and he tried to make himself scarce in the crowd of Weyrlings and Riders, to see if this was what he thought it might be. Someone had been talking about the Weyrlings being due for graduation-did that mean they were going to be full riders, now? That meant his friend R'xis would be a full rider too! And that meant that he and Akki would be able to be together-or so that's what he'd gotten from R'xis' explanations on how things worked.

Thus far R'xis had been so helpful that Rhiyo couldn't possibly have thanked him enough. For someone who had no clue about the world they lived in or anything around them, R'xis was patient, answered all questions to the best of his ability, and totally helpful. He couldn't wait to congratulate his friend! He quickly scanned the crowds and then spotted R'xis-why should he even be surprised? He smiled as he saw that R'xis was exactly where he'd imagined the other boy would be-with Akki. Well, he didn't want to disturb him, so maybe he ought to just let it be for now? He turned to leave, and bumped right into someone.

"W-Wolf!" he stammered, looking apologetically at the young Goldrider. That's right-R'xis younger sister would be a rider now too-and the girl beside her. Rhiyo was pretty good at remembering names, so he first said apologetically to Wolf, "I'm sorry-I was just passing by and thought I'd see what was going on. I didn't see you there as I was just going to congratulate your brother, only..." he trailed off and smiled, figuring Wolf already could se what that 'only' had been. Then, to both Wolf and Hasima, he said, "congrats to you both on being full riders. You must be really happy. R'xis tells me Weyrlinghood is a lot of work!" He grinned, now, wondering if he was supposed to be here after all, glancing over at the Weyrwoman and then back at Hasima and then Wolf. He found himself looking at what was around the Goldrider's neck, however.

She must really have liked it, since she was still wearing it. He had to admit it was really very pretty, and suited Wolf really well. The golden dragon pendant hung there like it belonged-the one he'd bought for her at the Gather as a sort of 'make up' present for embarrassing her and causing her distress. She'd seemed really upset that day, though he didn't know why. And he'd been worried he'd had something to do with it. Still, it kind of made him feel a bit warm inside seeing her wearing it still. Happy, he guessed, because she liked it? Yes, that had to be it.

"Yes, this is likely one of the best moments of his life I'm betting," she whispered to Hasima.
I wish to take flight as soon as possible Rimith. Let us go.
Wolf stumbled, but managed to regain her footing. Who had bumped in to her? She looked ahead of her, finding herself having to look up to see the face of the person who had inconveniently bumped in to her. Immediately she recognized her brother’s friend Rhiyo, from the Gather. “Oh, really it’s no problem,” she replied to him. She shrugged it off, not seeming to be giving the incident much thought. She bit her lip, having hoped that the boy had been Riler. She had really expected him to be here but she hadn’t seen him around the Weyr at all. She hadn’t wanted to inquire about him to any one in case they become suspicious... She wondered if perhaps Rhiyo would know, but would it be right of her to ask him? Her and Riler’s relationship, while remaining just friends, had already progressed in their hearts to something more. “S-so, just came to congratulate my brother huh?” she asked with a smile, having been distracted there for a second, her mind just clueing in to the fact that he’d congratulated her and Hasima just now. “Well thank you, it means a lot and-,” she broke off, noticing that he was looking to the pendant around her neck, “and I’d like to thank you again for the necklace. I really like it,” she told him. Her smile broadened and she gave her head a slight tilt. He’s such a pleasant boy, I’m glad that R’xis has found someone that’s like him. She glanced around once again inconspicuously, trying not to make it seem like she was looking for someone. She looked to Hasima, the sadness in her eyes quite clear. She wasn’t very good at hiding her emotions, though she tried.

“Well! My brother is occupied, isn’t he?” Wolf laughed, looking past Rhiyo to where R’xis and Akki stood face-to-face. They were awful close, and it didn’t take a rocket science to see that things would be working out between them. “I’m happy for him though, you know, he really deserves to have someone special in his life. Who better then Akki, she’ll always keep him on his toes.” Akki was a handful, her brother would never be bored, and always be busy. She was glad too that it could work for Ersith and Ebbeth; it was a lucky once in a lifetime situation when one thought about it. “You must be excited about the hatching coming up I’d imagine.” She was attempting to create small talk between them, not wanting Rhiyo to think that she was rude or disinterested in being his friend. It really mattered to her what people thought of her.

R’xis felt like such a fool, of course Akki hadn’t been all over anyone else. He should’ve noticed that she was being reserved, waiting for him. Her next words made him blush and he shifted his feet. “Yah, what can I say, I must apologize for my honesty. I’ll try to torture you more in the future, okay?” he replied teasingly. Ersith was listening to every word they said, while having a conversation with Ebbeth also.
I’m approving of this, dare I say it. The two are a match, even I have noticed. From the looks of it, others have too, Ersith said, permitting the other three (including Ebbeth) to hear. Her gaze shifted from Rhiyo, Hasima, and Wolf to her current group. She had seen the trio glancing over there way every now and then, bright smiles on their faces. Ersith was betting that they were happy over the arrangement, they were most certainly good friends to R’xis and Akki both.
“Finally she agrees with me for once, it’s shocking, is it not?” R’xis grinned, keeping himself from looking over to where his friends and sister stood in order to keep another blush off of his cheeks.
I’ll gladly help you torture Mine Akki, that would be something I could put my all in to.

“Its official then... For lack of a better word-though official does work, unless you can come up with something better?” he asked Akki. “And, yah, this is for sure one of the best moments of my young life.”

Hasima giggled quietly at Wolf’s comment and silently agreed.
I agree, I also want to go right now. Hasima, are you ready? The yellow asked in her usual polite tone. Hasima nodded in answer, and motioned towards Wolf, wanting to allow her to finish her conversation with Rhiyo first. Hasima blushed as Wolf looked at her, and felt for a second as if she was intruding in on a personal moment of theirs. “Thank you.” She said softly to Rhiyo, flashing the boy a quick and faint smile, but a grateful one. Hasima was slow, but even she noted the sadness in Wolf’s eyes. She wrapped her arm through Wolf’s, something very unnatural for her to do and said, “You got her that necklace? It’s quite pretty.” It wasn’t much, she never said much but she hoped that it helped Wolf out a bit.

Akki nodded with full approvement. “There you go, now you’re getting the hang of it. Torture me, make me get hung up on every word you say and make me wonder every meaning behind it.” She said before frowning delicately, “But no kinky stuff, okay?”.

I suppose I give my approvement also then. But don’t get lovey-dovey in front of me. Otherwise I might get caught up in the moment and will try to plant a kiss on you, R’xis Ebbeth warned with a humorous tone. Akki peered around R’xis at Eristh’s comment to see a few of her friends. She grinned crookedly, and stuck her tongue out at them, followed by a few kissy faces. She sent a sly wink towards Wolf, before turning back to R’xis.

“Wondrous? Splendiferous? I have quite a few words that would suit this moment just fine. Official works too though.” She said, flicking the boys ear lightly as she saluted Ersith. “For now on my dear brown dragon friend, I am in your care. Please do not nibble at my toes while I sleep, and I will not nibble yours in return.”
