Hey Hawk, you weren't on when I went to find these, but I figured I'd post them here to get your input on them after xD I was looking for Michael Whelan artwork, because I'm hoping to stick to just that one artist when I'm doing the layouts for the forums and the website. I'm pretty sure I've got all the art (or almost all) that he's done for Anne, so here's what I've got so far. I just wanted to put them all down to show you what I'm working with. I want to make a main banner out of one of these, so I need your input on which picture (or piece of a picture) you would like to have as the main banner - for both the forums and the site. Keep in mind that the color-scheme of both forum and site will be based off of the picture (or piece of picture) that you choose for the main banner. We can use parts of wholes of other pictures as well, in the design and everything, but the color-scheme itself will mainly go with the main banner. Yes, they're huge. xD But I like to find the biggest I can, because you can always make pictures SMALLER without losing quality, it's impossible to make tiny pictures big without getting pixelation, though. Anyone else is free to put input in as well. Hawk, other admin, other mods, and looovelly members? Have at it! [Oh and PS, if anyone hasn't figured it out yet after reading this. I've been given the duty to take over and make a website and forum skin xD] |

Sounds good to me...you know we do have a poll thing that you can make. You have the power to do that at the moment but it will only let people vote for one pic so that might be a problem.

Sweet *tallies voting* Oh and let all who've discussed such matters before, the "Weyrworld" picture is what I reference white-dragon-size by. No fan-made charts, official art xD
Also, I'm thinking we leave this poll up for a week or so? At least...Well...maybe less, or more. Because in a week I'm going to be going to college, and I have to settle back in xD BUT YEAH. About a week.

Just as an update, I'm gonna 'close' the voting on Saturday. People can still say which ones they like better after that, but that's when I'm going to figure out what pictures will be used for what.
The picture with the most votes will be the banner, and the color scheme for website and forums will come from the banner. Since the pictures are so BIG, I'll probably make a few cut outs of different parts of the picture for possible banners, and we'll do a few-day voting on which one will be best for the banner xP Then, after that's chosen, I'll add in words for the banner, and everything.

Looks like so far "whelan07" is gonna be what the banner and color scheme come from. But don't worry guys, I'll definitely use the other pictures that were voted for in places too xP
I think it all comes down to Kat's voting xD we'll have to figure out what happens if there ends up being a tie.

www.draconic.com/images/whelan/weyrwrld.jpgI'd choose this one. Not only is the scenery lovely, but there is more than just golds and bronzes, and more than one or two dragons. I believe there's white, blue, gold and bronze, and ch'yeah...since DM isn't even entirely canon, I think having a white in there and a blue that's kind of hard to tell is blue is cool. ^^

Okay, so that's another vote for Weyrworld. So...now we're tied xD I think maybe everyone's voted that's going to vote? But because of that tie, I'm gonna leave it up until saturday, when I said I would close it. If there hasn't been a tie breaker by then, I'll cut out pieces of the two tied pictures that could be made into banners, and I'll put them in a topic with an actual poll up. Then whichever banner wins will be, obviously, the winning banner and thus winning color scheme.
Or someone could vote who hasn't yet by then, and the tie could be broken xD
Either way, I can't do much until..possibly even monday, or tuesday. Tomorrow I'm cleaning a microwave out so I can have it ready for back-to-college. Saturday I'm doing laundry, packing, and heading to BJ's so my mom can stock me up on emergency supplies because she's convinced something catastrophic is going to happen or something. Then Sunday I'm actually moving back into college. I will try to start working on stuff sunday night/monday, but there's always the possibility that it won't happen xP Just figured I'd update everyone on the website/skin maker's status.

So we do need some suggestions for this webpage. Kino, you're the one making it and I'd like to know what your ideas are for starters. Of course, I'd like to know everyone's ideas. But since Kino's the one making this, it'd help jumpstart my brain and draw the picture for me.
The only thing I can really think of is Dark Moon's IC history. Like what all the members have RPed out that helped create what DM is. And on that same note, a history of alot of the major characters IC. Such as the main characters of the members. Like for me, it'd be G'han. I'm sure Hawk would say Christae and Rhia, and so on and so forth. Oh and maybe some kind of timeline thingy?

Now now now, let me make this clear xD I'm making the LAYOUT for the website. Like, what it looks like. I have no ideas for what information to put on it or anything, as I've never made a website for a Weyr before.
All I need right now, at the minimum, is then number of informational pages we're putting on there and the title of those pages, that way I can make the correct amount of pages. Later on in the site's life I can add more pages as they're needed. Heck, you can even add more pages as they're needed with the html if all I use for links is text-based links.
However....there's also the option of using an image-link. Which is an image, that acts as a link. This can be pretty, but it can also be space-eating, depending on the size of the image.
The most I need for the site is the number of pages I'm making, the title of these pages, and the information (in word-pad form) that's going on these pages. That's how I learned how to make websites in my web authoring class, he gave us all the information to put on it and we just set it up and made it pretty and awesome.
As for ideas for what I'm doing? I have vague ideas...but I won't know if I can do anything with these ideas until I actually start playing around with it in dream weaver.
xD really, you expect me to have concrete ideas? I go in with a spark and mess around continuously until I start to see something I'm liking. That's why I make it clear that when I start working on the website, since it's not like an integral-part of the rping forum, I will take as much time as I need, because I'm still in college too.

But Kino, what info would you like to see on the website you're designing. You're also a member.
Anyway, I was also thinking of having a members page. Maybe some bits of info about the members of the site. When/how they joined. What they've done on DM IC and OOC. It'd also be good to keep the site updated on threads OOC and IC. Though I'd think that would be a given.
