The skies, the young rider thought as she inhaled the crisp air, my ticket to anywhere in Pern. She patted the neck of her green Rith as she circled the Weyr Bowl of her new Weyr. She removed the map she was given to be sure that she had in fact reached the 'Dark Moon Weyr' which she had been transfered to from High Reaches. She nodded her approval and quickly rolled up the hide, tucking it back into one of the pockets in her riding gear.
Have I ever been wrong in directions? Rith inquired jovielly
"Of course you haven't." Onika answered as the green began her quiet, graceful dive into the bowl. She flapped her mighty wings as they neared the ground as to avoid injury. Finally, Rigth landed with a light thud, letting dust arise. Onika slid down her beast's leg and gazed around her undisturbed surroundings.
"Wow." She murmured under her breath. It seemed so quiet and serene compared to the hustle and bustle of the High Reaches. Abrutly a loud chirp drew Onika's attention upward to her arriving bronze, Dorth. The fire-lizard repeated his chirp before perching on her padded shoulder. Onika stroked his head, watching the many-faceted eyes turn from blue to green in contentment. Rith snorted.
It seems that Dorth already alerted all the fire-lizards of this Weyr that we have arrived. She informed. Do you want me to alert the other occupants?
Onika could tell that her companion was reluctant to do so, as she herself was. She gazed around once more, hoping some one might appear. But there was no one in sight. Onika leaned against the muscular leg of her companion.
"No point in announcing the fact," Onika said, "Dark Moon is prided in having the largest amount of greens in all of Pern. Let's just wait a bit."
After about ten minutes, Onika sighed.
"I suppose a little help couldn't hurt." She said to her green. Rith nodded and let out a bugle.
