Christae paced back and forth in front of her Queen. The dragon's eyes whirled swiftly with flecks of yellow, revealing the Queen's agitation. The pair was waiting in the weyr bowl for the people of Dark Moon. Christae new she had to greet the new transfer riders but she had to make this announcement to her Weyr first. She wasn't very sure she wanted to meet a new bronzerider though after what Sh'iron had done.
It's not like you can't find another bronzerider, a better one.
You seemed to prefer Myranenth.
There are others that I could choose from. The gold's tone held disdainful amusement.
The Weyrwoman had called all of the weyrfolk, dragons, riders, and drudge alike to announce the tidings she held in the roll of hide in her hand. She wasn't really surprised by the news, but it did come at a bad time.

R'zlin, you take too long Riranyth huffed, sitting at the entrance of their weyr. The rider frowned a bit, still shrugging his clothes on that he had removed in order to sleep off the fatigue of moving in and time difference. "I'm curious to see what is so important as to call the whole Weyr to hear.." Though it wasn't a particularly condescending tone, it was obvious the man had not liked being woke up for any reason. Myranenth is no longer in the Weyr. R'zlin stopped, pondering that. "The Weyrleader's bronze? I assume he's gone too?"
There was idle acknowledgement from the bronze, and the man frowned. Had this sort of thing ever happened? "Well, good enough reason for a meeting.. I suppose that's what the meeting is about?" I suppose. The greens have been talking about his abscence. They seem to always know these things. A smirk crept onto R'zlin's features. "Why Riranyth, I never knew you had such a tender streak... listening to green gossip" The chiding was met with silence, but R'zlin shrugged it off and stepped up onto the offered forearm of the dragon, settling himself between two neck ridges. It seemed like it was just in time too, because Riranyth was off the ledge and coasting down to the Weyr Bowl as R'zlin was barely settled.
Luckily, the light hued bronze was more forgiving in his landing; keeping in mind that R'zlin had not put straps on his dragon for such a short flight to the Weyr Bowl. Upon depositing the rider, the dragon looked about where to sit, perch or stand, but there were very few bronzes it seemed, and even less that were mature adults. The dragon headed over in that direction anyways, perching himself upon a low ledge.
R'zlin was having as much difficulty finding his place, looking over briefly at any seating/standing arrangements and inched over towards the clump of dragonriders, stepping around weyrbrats and drudges to get to his destination. There always seemed to be a sort of segregation amongst people in these situations, but for reason it seemed; it would be safe to assume one would wish to be with their own kind, yes? R'zlin was sure that possibly even the individual wings were preferring to stick together. Sadly, R'zlin had no such associations just yet, having just tranferred hardly a few hours ago.
"R'zlin!" The dragonrider perked at the sound of his name, and wasn't suprised to see the stocky brownrider C'ben bumbling towards him. "It looks like there's more people here, when they are out and about!" The brownrider grinned, but sobered slightly when he looked to the queen and her rider. "So, do you know what this is about?"
Now, R'zlin had been told by his dragon some interesting information. Whether this was the actual announcement or just a side-issue, the bronzerider did not know. Therefore, he wasn't going to gossip. R'zlin shrugged. "I honestly don't know what this announcement is about. I guess that's why we're here though, to find out, yes?" C'ben took the hint and smirked, now looking up in the general direction of the Weyrwoman, waiting.

Christae noted the landing of the new bronze and saw the new brownrider walk up to him. The bronze and brown were perched not far from their riders. Kaith lifted her massive head and bugled a solemn greeting to the two.
Welcome to Dark Moon. I am Kaith, senior queen of DM. My rider is Christae. I only wish that you had come at a happier time and it is my hope that you enjoy your time here.
Christae nodded a greeting to the two. Kaith, please bespeak their dragons and ask them to remain after the meeting is over. Kaith gently touched her muzzle to her rider's back, not liking the solemn, unhappy mood of her rider.
My beloved also asks that you and your riders remain after the meeting has adjourned. A ghost of a smile flickered over her rider's face when she used 'adjourned' and Kaith was pleased.

Shortly after the other two dragons landed, a medium-sized blue glided downwards and landed with a soft 'Thump'. On his back was Akki, who was currently wondering what this meeting was about. Surely no one had done something so badly, they were being kicked out of the weyr. She slid off his back and nodded a greeting to Christae with a soft smile. Ebbeth chuckled mentally as he heard her thoughts in her head, but said nothing when his rider asked about it. She'd found out soon enough.
Ebbeth lifted himself off of the ground, flying over to a perch where he landed once more. Greetings Kaith. I hope you and your rider fare well on this day, as sad as it is. Ebbeth sent to Kaith. He didn't know the full concept of the meeting, but he had a basic idea of it. People, dragons talked. Rumours rose and gossip spread. He looked over at the two dragons, and realized he didn't know them. Greetings to you two and your riders as well. I am Ebbeth and my rider is Akki.
Akki walked to a spot where she would be able to hear see the Weyrwoman easily when the others came. She still wondered what the meeting was about. She let her imagination take over, maybe a dragon stepped on someone? Or bit someone in half? She looked over at the other people there were here, and realized she didn't know them. She nodded a greeting to them, also accompanied by a smile. She'd have to introdruce herself more formerly afterwards.
And right after Akki had landed, who else but Hasima would slowly shuffle towards the growing crowd with Rimith by her side. She tried to hurry, but her feet would only go so fast. But soon enough, she was parked beside Akki wearing a small smile on her face as a greeting to her blue rider friend.
Greetings Kaith, and greetings to your rider. Rimith said as she stopped beside Hasima, remembering her manners. And greetings to you Ebbeth! She crooned, glad to see the blue dragon she met before. Ebbeth returned the greetings. "Did I miss anything?" Hasima asked, her voice softer than a whisper. Akki shook her head, "No. Not yet.".

Wolf and R'xis came into the weyrbowl side by side. Serinth was on the left side of Wolf meanwhile Ersith was on the right side of R'xis.
Wolf made her way to the front of the crowd so she could properly greet Christae. "Hello," she beamed, hoping that heading directly to the Weyrwoman hadn't been the wrong thing to do. Wolf bowed to the Weyrwoman, liking to keep herself 'mannerly.' Hello there Queen Kaith, Mine wished to send her greetings along to you as do I. The small Queen sent this to the larger one, her tone most respectful, understanding the authority that Kaith held over Dark Moon Weyr. Wolf hoped she hadn't missed anything. All the same she didn't understand what was going on that this meeting had to be held. Did you send my greetings to Kaith? Wolf mentally asked Serinth. Of course Mine, as per request. Akki is here also, shall I send my greetings to her Blue? Yes, yes, do so love. Send my greetings to all whom you recognize. Wolf hoped that Serinth did happen to hold a memory of who her friends' dragon's were. The worst thing would be if Serinth mistook any names. My rider, Wolf Storm, sends her greetings to Yours. Are you well Ebbeth? Hello there Rimith, my rider: Wolf Storm, sends along her greetings to Yours. How have you been? So far Serinth was doing well, making sure to be polite to everyone and inquire of how they were. She didn't want to make a mistake in order to please her bonded. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
R'xis' gaze was immediately set on Akki, heading up to the girl. He gently squeezed her arm. "Hey," he chuckled deeply. "How are you doing?" he asked her. Ersith had been matching his quick walking pace when he made his way up to the girl. So, here we are again, Ersith mentally teased the blue Ebbeth. I would tell you to send my own rider's greetings on to yours but it looks like he's already gotten around to that himself Ersith chuckled. R'xis patted Ersith on the neck affectionately before looking back to Akki. Are you addicted to her Mine, is it possible to be addicted to a living person? What is it that makes you pester me so? R'xis sent to Ersith, smirking. She was very persistent on trying to get him to speak about Akki to her but he knew that when it came to relationships you weren't supposed to get your dragonet's entangled. He could tell, right off the bat, that Ersith was the type that would get herself involved in his affairs. He would hate to endanger her like that.

Uslanee was desperately trying to get everyone to listen to her.
"Everyone! To the weyr bowl! Yes, drop everything, no this is not a trick, just GO! Weyrwoman's orders!" Of course, as she said this last thing, everyone suddenly listened. She sighed; she must be losing her touch or something. After ushering the last person out of the kitchen, she left, herself, and went up to stand by Christae.
"It's too bad, really," she said in an aside to Christae. "I liked him. And who knows what the other weyrs will say.." She shook her head, knowing the contents of the scroll. "But you and Kaith are strong. You will pull this weyr through Fall, weyrleader or no." She smiled her confidence at the Weyrwoman, every bit of it genuine. Christae was almost like a daughter to her, and right now she felt very matronly.
----
T'rin walked to the gathering in the bowl from the lake, which was a favorite spot as of late. He had a general idea of this announcement, but he wasn't about to assume anything. This weyr had a tendency for surprises. He arrived and found a spot close to Christae, so he could hear well. He bowed and briefly asked after Kaith's health, then stepped back.
----
V'koran walked to the weyr bowl, wondering what this announcement was about. Verith was napping in the barracks. He found a spot and waited, looking around for Jess.
----
Don't I get to come? Zalith asked when L'von announced he had to go to the weyr bowl.
Of course you may come, if you want to, he replied, smiling a llittle bit.
Then I am coming, she said with much authority, following her rider out of the barracks and into the weyr bowl where several others had gathered. The sun feels nice. Good day, queen Kaith.

Greetings to you and your rider Serinth as well Ebbeth boomed to the gold at the same time as Rimith crooned Hello Serinth, Hasima and I send my greetings back to you and Wolf. I am well, and you? Hasima jerked her hand into a small wave as Wolf, R'xis and their two dragons appeared near her. Akki's hand fluttered to her chest and she exhaled, "Shards R'xis, I didn't know you were there. That scared me.". After a moment to calm her heart down she grinned and replied, "Seriously? I'm about to combust with curiousity if I don't find out what this meeting is about. Do you know? How are you?". Ah, so it appears he beat you to the punch. Shall I scold him for it? I will if you want me too Ebbeth said as he grinned at the female brown.

Riranyth and Leovenath humbly greet the queen, but as usual, it is Riranyth that speaks up for anything other than a greetings.Unpleasantness is taken in stride, Senior Queen. Nothing can detract from the pleasant warmth of this Weyr, and the Southern Continent in general Quickly, the message was relayed by both brown and bronze dragon, and it seemed the two riders heard the news at the same time, because they both glanced over at the other. R'zlin shrugged and grinned to his friend. "Well, you can't blame her not being able to get around to tracking us down till now. Seems like she has a lot on her hands."
"Yes, but just what is on her hands is what we wait to find out" C'ben looked at the smirking bronzerider with suspicion, but shrugged it off. "Well, as long as you haven't gotten us in trouble..." R'zlin interjected,"Oh please, you know you are the one to always get in trouble and you know it, C'ben"
The sullied brownrider said no more. Oh, was someone maybe feeling like a third wheel? Well, whatever it was, Leovenath seemed to be feeling it as well, for he had moved away from his bronze friend to the preferred company of a gaggle of greens.

Avith had insisted on getting to the meeting early. Lira rolled her eyes as she was forced to walk in. Apparently getting dressed was too much of a wait so the green had flown down to the Weyr bowl with the excuse that she would watch for Lira.
See, I have made it on my own time and they still haven't started yet. Will you not tell me what this is about? ~I thought you said gossip wasn't a good thing. That I should keep my muzzle in my own business.~ The green replied in a smug tone. No, I said in your own porridge ... and thats not the point. What's happening?
Silence. It seemed the green was going to make her wait to figure out what this meeting was for. She knew the green could just as easily have told her. She liked to know all the gossip, half the time she probably started it. The green snorted from her spot with the other dragons, ~Do not.~
~~~~~~~~~
S'dim hopped off the blue and walked to the cluster of dragonriders. A small smile quirked the corner of his mouth as he heard two bantering back and forth despite the slightly ominous feeling to the air. Neither he nor the blue knew what this was about but he knew it had to be something big if the whole Weyr was being called into attendance.
He shifted slightly on his feet as he waited. He knew Christae wouldn't start until everyone was here but he wished to get this over with already. He never liked bad news ... then again who did?
His eyes flicked towards his blue as Sildith moved closer to the greens. The poor blue hadn't had a lot of interaction with his green lately. He knew the blue would get over it ... maybe he already had with the way he was glancing at the others.
If you're done playing with the greens please send my regards to the queen and her rider. The blue huffed but complied. It was only proper.
~~~~~~~
K'nest stumbled into the Weyr bowl. He yawned widely and cricked his neck. He kept to the edges of the group but tried to stay close enough to hear what was going on. The blue kept butting into him as they walked. It didn't help that K'nest's balance was already off from being sleepy. The blue kept waking up and moving to where K'nest slept. K'nest wouldn't have minded but Temesth moved while he slept. He supposed it could be worse, he could be with a dragon that seemed to hate him.
His eyes flicked from one person to another. Seems he wasn't that late. At least he was getting better on his timing. He was almost late at the Hatching, which he now regretted a lot. His eyes snagged on the two new pretty arrivals before focusing on Christae again. He supposed he would figure out everyone eventually.
~~~~~~
In contrast to the other weyrling the dragonet walked infront of Sorcha. She shook her head, they more like waddled than anything else. The silvery creature huffed at Sorcha's stray thoughts. ~Can't you focus? This is supposed to be important.~ So, it's just another weyr thing. Probably some one graduated or a formal acknowledgement of the new gold. The moonstreak bristled, ~She's not that great.~
They both knew that if Sorcha had seen the gold she would have taken it instead. Not that that mattered. She had brought back the egg regardless but Lirlith didn't like the idea of that. She wondered why the moonstreak didn't hate the yellow ... maybe she did and just didn't tell Sorcha. As much as they shared a mind she didn't know too much about Lirlith.
Miya walked to where everyone was. Her eyes glanced around at the gathering and stood off to the side a bit to wait for everything to get started. Why don't you go talk to someone? Reinath suggested. Don't want to. Miya replied curtly.
**********************
Nira headed towards Christae. "Goodday Weyrwoman." She bowed her head politely. There was a bit of worry in her eyes, because she was confused as to why the whole Weyr was being summoned. Siarath told her not to worry, but she still wasn't sure.
*********************
J'kel walked out with Jorath. Neither seemed to realize that something could be wrong. J'kel slung his arms around Hasima and Akki's shoulders. "Hello all!" He said brightly with large smile on his face. Uncaring, Jorath merely yawned, his many faceted eyes half closed.
((I am going to leave Hali out of this since this is after the feast, but she is still there, just not near anyone.))
P'rin asked his dragon to hurry. He knew that this had to be an important announcement for the WW to call everyone in the Weyr. Kilzanth however, was taking his good old time, thinking that he didn't have to rush for such an obscure summonings.
"Kilzanth, that is the Sr. Queen calling you. You had best move your tail." The dragon sped up but only to stop his rider from bellyaching. Finally the pair got to the gathering. The bronzerider noticed a few of the other W'lings and decided to join them. He gave a subdued greeting to the others and then turned to his bronze.
"Send my regards to the Queen and her rider." He asked quietly. Kilzanth shifted his speckled wings and lifted his reddish bronze head. Greetings from my rider and I great Queen and to your rider. P'rin nodded his approval and then glanced at his classmates.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Anassa led a sleepy Priath to the group of W'lings not long after P'rin arrived. She ached from the dancing at the Feast and Priath had insisted on being oiled before they obeyed the WW's summons. She was also complaining about being hungry but the girl knew that the Queen's summons were to be obeyed before the dragon's hunger.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Rhia strode to the front, bowing to her WW. "Good morning WW, Kaith." The giant brown that landed on the outer edge of the gathering echosed her sentiments. Rhia then turned, standing a bit away from the WW so that she could see if all of her W'ling charges were here. Satisfied, she turned to watch her WW and friend's face, worried. There was very few things that would cause Christae to call forth the entire weyr.
The Weyrwoman turned to Uslanee, managing a small smile for her Headwoman. "I liked him too until I read what was in this letter." She closed her eyes briefly. "Thank you. I couldn't run this place without you. You have been wonderful." She embraced the older woman, glad that she had this dear woman's support. "I almost wish you could have been a Queenrider but then you would not be able to help me keep the Weyrfolk in line." She excused herself and then turned to face the Weyr.
Christae sighed, knowing that this announcement wouldn't be a happy one. She also knew that some of the riders would say good riddance. The Queen behind her didn't answer every greeting she simply nodded her head to show the other dragons that she heard them. She would send out a general greeting. There were simply too many dragons in the Weyr for her to say a greeting to all of them.
We are used to surviving in adversity here in DM. She told the newcomers. I thank you for your sincerity
Christae turned to her Queen a few moments later and the Queen excused herself from the bronze and brown. Love, could you send our greetings to the dragons and ask them to quiet down so I don't have to shout above the dragons?
Kaith lifted her head and bugled. The dragons fell silent and lifted their heads, paying rapt attention to their great queen. My rider and I send greetings to you all. We are as well as can be expected and we hope that you are all in good health as well. Now, I ask that you be quiet. I also ask that you request that your riders move up so that my chosen does not have to shout too loudly to be heard.
Christae waited until the people in the bowl had gathered closer. Then she turned to her dragon and stepped onto the forearm offered to her so that everyone could see her. She climbed onto the broad back and stood. Her voice would be able to carry and everyone could see her.
"People of Dark Moon. It is to my sorrow that I bring grave tidings. As most of you know, Sh'iron of bronze Myranenth has been our Weyrleader for the past two and a half Turns. He has also been absent from almost all of his duties for the past few months. I have a letter from him that I wish to read to you. Please remain silent until I finish." She lifted the hide and began to read, raising her voice so that it carried to even the drudges in the back.
"Christae, It is to my regret that I inform you of this decision. I have realized that Dark Moon is not the place for me. My dragon and I have agreed that we wish to return to our home weyr, Benden. We simply feel that Dark Moon is far too secluded for us. We wish to be in a weyr that has more contact with the outside world. I am certain you will understand and I wish you the best of luck in running your small Weyr. I, therefore, resign from my post of Weyrleader."
Christae's voice was carefully neutral but her face showed how scornful she felt. As she paused and went on reading the letter. This time, she did not bother to hide the deep rancor she felt.
"Also, I wish to take our son with me to Benden. I have a perfect foster mother for him. He will have a brother to play with soon and I believe that he will benefit from the relocation. Of course, you will be able to come and visit him as you are always welcome at Benden.
Give my regards to Kaith, Sh'iron of Benden "
She fell silent, her head held high but she was both furious and depressed. She did not silence her dragonriders as they began to mutter. Sh'iron had basically insulted the Weyr. He had also insulted their WW in claiming that she was incapable of caring for her own son. She waited for the inevitable slew of questions that would come her way.
Kia wasn't sure if she wanted to go to the announcement. Yes, it was mandatory but she still wasn't certain. Kylath wasn't coming. She was asleep on the ledge and had no intention of waking. Kia finally decided she should go. She could use hearing the information.
Kia grabbed her boots and ran out of her Weyr. She hurried to the Weyr Bowl, aware that she was late. When she reached the area, Christae was climbing onto her Queen. She stood near the back, among drudges and riders. Her eyes focused on the little figure of Christae. Her ears strained a bit to make out all the words.
Kia was fairly horrified at what the rider said but she kept a straight face. She hoped the Weyrwoman wouldn't talk about what she had done.
ooc;; I need to be vague since /the/ incident hasn't happened yet. Sorry.
Uslanee felt Christae's anger as she read the last portion of the letter. It had saddened and infuriated the Headwoman that Sh'iron dare pull such a move. Christae was busy, yes, but she was a loving mother and she had plenty of help all around for the young Chiron. Instead of showing the anger on her face, Uslanee simply bowed her head.
----
T'rin fought not to yell out in surprise and anger. He kept his jaw clenched, though, and managed to keep still. He had expected that Sh'iron was going to be gone for a while, but not that he had left entirely-- and taken their son. His admiration for the WW grew, that she could read that and, well, not have a tantrum. But he wondered what was to come.. who would become weyrleader at Kaith's next flight? He shook his head.
I could fly Kaith, Amparath said confidently.
Not right now, T'rin said impatiently, pushing that thought away. I don't want to be weyrleader. I'm too young.
----
V'koran stood as if looking down on everything happening. He couldn't grasp, for a moment, what this meant; the weyrleader stepping down, taking their son. He had never seen the weyrleader, and it had always been Christae he'd seen running things, so he didn't see how this was any different, other than the fact that it was official now. He could understand the anger, but for him, it didn't really change anything.
----
L'von simply stood and listened. He was saddened by this news-- the weyr had lost a leader and a child. He had met the weyrleader-- well, ex-weyrleader-- once, so it hit him a little harder than some of the other weyrlings. Not that he'd ever seen him lead.
Does this mean bad things? Zalith asked, sensing L'von's emotions.
Yes, and no, the greenrider weyrling said, not sure how else to answer.
Wolf was glad when Serinth sent her greetings from a few friend's of hers. I am fairing well, thank-you Rimith, Serinth replied to the Yellow dragonet. As Kaith's bugle came loud and clear, indicating for all to be quiet, both Wolf and Serinth did so. The pair were already forward enough that they could hear the announcement that had to be made. What do you think this is about? Patience Mine, that's what we're here to find out. Wolf wanted to stand with her brother and the rest of her friends. She looked behind her, spotting the group of Weyrling's, except for Akki who was, in fact, a Rider. She made her way over to them, Serinth following even though she had no clue where Wolf was headed. She didn't question the girl either. Wolf found a spot beside Hasima, smiling gently at the girl as memories of the hatching played in her mind. "Hello," she whispered, silencing once Christae began to speak. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
R'xis couldn't help but laugh at Akki's reaction. "I meant to surprise you," he told her. "I'm doing okay but no, I have no clue what this is about." He didn't bother to tell her what she already knew: that he hated not having her there every second of everyday. He still was clueless about the rule of no romantic relationship's for Weyrling's. "How about you, how are you doing?" he asked her, interested in what she had to say as always. As convenient as that would be I'm not sure how it'd go over, Ersith replied to Ebbeth. The female Brown couldn't help but smirk, Ebbeth's approach to doing things amused her immensely. This was a good thing for she knew she had another dragon that she could always talk to.
Kaith's bugle of willed silence shut both R'xis and Ersith up, they not wanting to cause a disturbance by talking while everyone else wasn't. There faces were eager with anticipation of what the serious announcement was.
Wolf couldn't believe what she was hearing, the Weyrleader left, and took Christae's child? She wanted to scream! She couldn't imagine anyone doing something like that to Christae, not with the kind-of person she was! "She doesn't deserve this, I can't believe it," Wolf scoffed. She narrowed her eyes, her muscles tensing in her shoulders. Serinth could feel the seriousness of the situation through Wolf's emotions. Can anything be done? If so, I'll help, Serinth sent to her Rider cutely. When Wolf turned to Serinth the hardness in her eyes disappeared, I don't know but if anything could be done I'm not sure we'd be of much help. I'm sure Christae would be comforted though by your offer. R'xis' throat ran dry... Was Sh'iron even aloud to do that? 'Wow... Intense,' he thought to himself. 'I can't imagine what she must be going through right now.' He had an overwhelming urge to comfort the Weyrwoman, that being the kind-of person he was. What of now? Ersith asked R'xis. I can't answer that, he frowned. All I know is that an insult to the Weyr and the Weyrwoman of this Weyr is not something I'll put up with. If I see his face around here again I'll- I'm outraged too R'xisMine, Ersith said, cutting him off.
"Well it worked." Akki snickered, flicking R'xis's arm with her finger. "When isn't Akki doing good?" She said with amusement, referring to herself in third person. Ebbeth laughed mentally at Ersith's comment and agreed with her, no that probably wouldn't go over good. Hasima looked at Wolf, a smile slowly spreading across her face as she whispered back, "Hello.". Any conversation that was taking place slowly dimmed down and faded as Kaith requested silence.
Ebbeth quieted down upon Kaith's request and listened carefully to what they had to say. yes, he had heard fleeting rumours about Sh'iron leaving. But he never expected this, he didn't think that the rider of a bronze would steal away a mothers child basically. His eyes churned into a red colour, showing his anger about this news. He looked down at his rider, seeing how she would take the news.
Now, if Akki were a dragon her eyes would be a ferocious red, whirling faster than you'd think possible. She was quite, and understandabley, mad about this news. She didn't really care about the fact he basically insulted the Weyr. Oh no, there were probably a few people who laughed at its size, they were to dim witted to understand that this weyr was probably better than some of the larger ones. She was mad that he literally just insulted Christae, calling her an unworthy mother. So the proud bronze rider isn't as proud as we thought, nor mature. He has resorted to name calling, only he did so in more adult words making it seem like he never did such a thing. Ebbeth said to his rider, his detest for the old Weyr Leader quite obvious. I say we go to Benden, kick him around a few times and get back Christae's kid. Akki said, enjoying that plan maybe a bit too much. "How could he do this? To us? To the Weyr? To Christae?" Akki said quietly to R'xis. "Can we go hurt him? Just a few bruises or something, even?" Akki asked out loud, being her blunt self as usual.
Hasima had never met the Weyr Leader, he had probably left before she arrived here she realized slowly. But even Hasima understood that what he had done was quite rude of him. She listened to Akki as she spoke to R'xis and she vaguely thought the same thing but no, she didn't grasp the full concept of what was happening. It was rude of him to leave the weyr like that Hasima? Rimith asked her rider, quite confused to what was happening. She recieved a slow nod in return.
R'zlin stood there for a moment, dumbfounded by the news. Was that even possible? The bronzerider had never even heard of such a thing as a Weyrleader resigning from his position. Then again, he's never known of a Weyrleader that would want to give up such power. Eh, but then again, how much power did one have in something that was more or less a minor Weyr? He could understand the issue within that, but the man could have very easily just kept his dragon from chasing in the next time the gold flew. The bronzerider glanced over at C'ben, but he looked just as puzzled. (meep, short.. oh well. Time to get started on an essay )
Once again, Kaith bugled for silence. Her rider looked at the mixture of disbelief, anger, and puzzlement on her people's faces. She even saw relief. That hurt worse than anything else. Christae inhaled deeply, trying not to vent. It wouldn't do for the people to see her lose her composure. She was the Weyr now. Miya was a good Jr. WW but she did not know enough to lead the Weyr and young Serinth was not old enough to take over the duties of Jr. WW.
"I toyed with the idea of not reading that letter to you but then I decided that you deserved to hear how this bigshot bronzerider felt about us. We are not defeated, no by far we are not defeated. We will survive. We always have. I know more than Sh'iron did about running a Weyr and I know all of the drills. He hasn't been here for the past few months anyway. He even missed his dragon's children's hatching. What infuriates me the most is his insult to you and his insult to me claiming that I am not fit to be my son's mother. I wish to demand my son back but I will not beg for him to return."
Both the riders and their dragons fell silent as Kaith once more called for no more talking. Yes, Akki could understand that Christae wasn't sure of reading out the letter. It was bound to bring up questions, and emotions that were better left alone. The mighty have fallen so it seems Ebbeth commented to Akki, referring to Sh'iron's dissapearing act and rude behaviour. I wouldn't say fallen. I would say vanished, he is no longer mighty. Akki replied, with a snort of cynical amusement. "Don't beg for him back. Take him back. I'll gladly go distract Sh'iron and Ebbeth can squish a few people to cause another distraction as you take your child back." Akki offered, picturing her distraction as more along the lines of cheerfully beating the Weyr Leader to death for being so heartless towards her friend, the Weyr Woman.
R'zlin glanced from one side to the other, eyeing many a person who were muttering less than kind things about the Weyrleader. Yes, this could get bad.. At what the irate bluerider shouted out, R'zlin jumped to action, raising his voice above the others. "We do -not- have to act out of violence. They understand the Charter as well as anyone else, and it states that a mother has rights over her own child. Acting rashly will not get us anywhere but in trouble. The Weyrwoman is within her rights to decide what is best for her child, and at its most difficult, a meeting can be conducted with harpers as mediators"
Riranyth rumbled thoughtfully from his ledge, craning his neck towards the Senior queen and dipping his head politely. My rider is sincere, and it is a wise decision. Any situation that could cause dragon to go against dragon should be avoided. At the very thought of it, the bronze's eyes whirled with hues of agitation.
