[glow=red,2,300]Mine, we are home at last.[/glow]
Yes, Kylath, we are.
Kia looked down at the ground below her. It was, for the most part dirt but spurts of grass were visible. Within sight was the home the two were speaking of, Dark Moon Weyr. The corners of the girl’s lips twitched up into a small smile. She rubbed her hands over Kylath’s oddly covered hide. It wasn’t green or gold or even a color that males only had. It slightly resembled that of a bronze or maybe a gold but, no, it wasn’t either. Red was mixed into the concoction as well. So it wasn’t any ordinary color so what was this rare dragonet? She was a mutant. She was a copper dragoness.
Kylath wasn’t that old but it seemed forever since Kia had met her. Each time a dragon hatched from it’s strangely hued eggs Kia’s heart had skipped a beat as she prayed it would come to her and speak to her in that way dragon’s spoke. She couldn’t be more pleased about how it was Kylath who came.
A small group of riders and their companions had been chosen from each weyr to go and inspect and learn from another. Kia and Kylath were part of this group. They had gone to Ista Weyr but when Kia got word of the hatching she wanted to be there to witness it. She was all packed and ready when a minor emergency occurred. She was forced to stay and take care of it but at last she and her closest friend were flying home.
[glow=red,2,300]Mine, pay attention. Hold on.[/glow]
Yes, yes, Kylath. I am holding.
Kia wrapped a hand around a spine sticking from the neck of her friendly beast. She wrapped her fingers around the spike and gripped it tightly. Kylath lowered into a tilt and let out a loud bugle. She folded in her wings and the two soared downward. Kia felt the cool wind whipping her face. Well, it whipped what could be seen beneath all that was on it. She enjoyed this feeling each time she descended down. She loved it. Kylath sensed this pleasure from her bonded. She felt the joy well up inside herself just as Kia was.
The dragoness began to unfurl her wings so she caught the air in a parachute fashion. The wind spun her around slowly. As she neared the ground beneath her she fully extended her wings and arched her back. Her neck curved up and then she became horizontal. She extended her forelegs from beneath her and the clawed at the ground. She lowered her hind legs and after just a few strides she was at a complete stop.
[glow=red,2,300]Mine, do they know we are here? Do they know to come? Or will we be welcomed by noone.[/glow]
Don’t be ridiculous. You don’t need a welcoming party. Besides, we told the Watchdragon we were here, right?
Kylath snorted in annoyance. She turned her head away and manipulated the muscles above her chromatic eyes to lean down in the same way eyebrows would on a person who was slightly aggravated and had their ego attacked.
Oh, Kylath, stop being so dramatic.
Kylath did not say a word but she lowered herself. Kia slid off the dragoness and patted her with a sly smile. She looked out over the land. Nobody was there yet but she was set to meet with Christae. She would just have to wait for the Queenrider to come. Otherwise they might not know where to meet each other.
Kia kept where she was but she noticed nobody was coming. She looked back at Kylath.
Come on, Kylath.
Kia turned ehr head back and looked in front of her as she walked further into the Weyr. There didn't seem to be anyone.
Kylath, do you see anything?
Yes, Mine. Follow me.
Kylath turned towards, Kia stopped. Had she honestly forgot which way they were heading? In the moment she paused Kylath had gotten a bit ahead. Kia jogged up to her dragon and walked on. When Kylath stopped Kia saw where they were but she was confused. Why were there so many people? Kia's eyes widened as she realized what happened. She must of made it in time for the hatching feast. There were an awful lot of little dragons around.
{{Okay. So you understand why it’s called a delayed arrival. The ‘a risky chance’ part of the title doesn’t come till later so stay tuned. Oh goodness, I sound like a commercial.
So, I think we've established that this is during the feast. Maybe Christae told Kaith where everyone was but Kia saw the oppurtunity....
I will go to the feast thread first and then come back here when she inevitably leaves...}}
