Sh'iron walked into the Dining Cavern. "No, because when ever the egg is found, I will have Nike sedate you so you get the rest that you need," He said, and looked over his shoulder with a sly smile on his face. The Weyrleader spotted Nike, K'dan, and two Candidates sitting at a table.
"Master Healer! Christae has an assignment for you. She'll tell you more about it later. But you will need glows, and your Healer kit," The bronze rider said, leaning down on the table. He nodded to the Master Tanner, Candidate, and the blue rider.
"Well go on!" He said, and Nike rushed off towards the infirmary.

Nike looked up startled at Sh'iron. The Healer raised an eyebrow at him, then ran off to get the things she would need.
In the safe, empty room off the infirmay, she shoved her healer kit in a bag that could be wore on her back. The Healer was glad that she had her working boots on. Quickly she washed her arms, then slung her pack over her back. Zim perched on her shoulder. On her way back to the Dining Hall, she grabed a fresh basket of glows.
"Ready," She said standing next to the table.

Christae followed him into the Dining Cavern and frowned at his words. "I will not just let you have Nike sedate me Sh'iron. I have too much work to do and after the egg is found we will have to prepare for the Hatching." She saw his smile and placed her hands on her hips. "You wouldn't sedate me." She shot at him with mock belligerance. "Would you?"
"Has anyone seen Akki? I need her to come with me as well." She looked aroundm wondering if the bluerider had come into the Dining Cavern with the rest of them.

Rhia entered the cavern with a glow basket in hand. "Birinj said that you wanted me Weyrwoman. I figured you would need glows. No one else knows all those sharding passageways. Some of them should just be closed up. We never use them. I can't count how many times Uslanee came in those passages chasing after us because we had stolen bubbly pies and then got lost."

Sh'iron gave a little grin. "Mabey if you really need it," He said, then put his arm around Christae's shoulders.
As soon as Nike and Rhia were there, he looekd around for Akki. He opened his mouth to speak, but his Weyrwoman spoke first. At Rhia's mention of bubbly pies, his mouth started to water. The Weyrleader didn't notice how hungry he was.
"Speaking of which, when the Hatching feast comes, we are going to hae a lot of those. I haven't had any in awhile."

Nike smiled, and got a dream look on her face. "Yes, I remember those days. All of us huddled down in a dark corner of the caverens, stuffing down out pies," She said with a laugh. For some reason, the healer longed for the days of a Candidate. Care-free, happy, and no dragon to worry about. "No, I haven't seen Akki. I can get Zim to find Sargon," Zim cherped happily.

She leaned against him. "You wouldn't." She said softly, for his ears only." Because if you did, I would get mad at you, and you wouldn't want that." She gently kissed his cheek and then gave a small smile. "When the Hatching comes, I will find the best bubbly pie makers around and have them make enough to feed two weyrs with."

Hali was confused. If Decir was another male candidate, why hadn't she met him? She didn't have time to ask or even ponder it further, for the Weyrleader and Weyrwoman bustled into the lowercaverns. Hali quickly stood up and bowed. She stood there for a moment before retaking her seat.
She sipped on the Klah again, wondering if she had just made a fool of herself.

K'dan sighed when Nike got up from his shoulder. "I will give him my respects for you Perin", K'dan said and nodded at him as he got up. He patted Nike on the shoulder and just left. She would be off on healer business or whatever now. He quickly waved goodbye and headed out the lower caverns.

Akki, a few moments after Christae's query about her, popped in and said breathlessly, making it clear she ran all the way here, "Sorry about being late, Sargon kept getting in the way and wouldn't let Birinj near until I thwacked him a few times. Only then did he get my message and fluttered off.".
"Now what's this about bubbly pies?" She asked, rather confused about the conversation she walked in on. She grinned slightly at the image that showed in her mind, her and her friends laughing happily as they remembered the look on Uslanee's face as they were caught in the middle of their "plan".
"However, don't tell me I just physically abused poor Sargon for bubbly pies." Akki said with a slight grimace, that was tinged at embarassment. She didn't have much of a choice though, he was in the way and not getting the message. Besides Sargon was probably too dull to realize that he was abused.

Christae looked up. "It's about time." She said simply and then listened to Akki's tale. "Birinj was summoning you because we once stole bubbly pies from Uslanee and we hid in the passageways of DM. I think that the thief may have done the same." She paused and took a deep breath.
"Miya will be in charge of arrangeing search parties for a weyr-to-weyr search. Sh'iron will pick people to search Dark Moon Mt. You Akki, will be joining Rhia, T'rin, Nike and me in the passageways of Dark Moon. We will search there." She raised her voice so that more people could hear her.
"Everyone is to participate. When someone need a break, another person takes that person's place. I don't think I need to tell anyone not to shirk this. You all now how important this is. Candidates search your Barracks. Weyrlings search your own Barracks. Do not search alone because you don't know if the thief is armed and we cannot have any casualties."
"When everthing has been searched, meet in the big dining hall. Sit in your respective places. Uslanee and her personnell will be cooking in anticipation of our return. By the First Egg, Kaith's egg must be found! I do not want her to wake and that egg still be gone or we may have to sedate her again."

Sh'iron nodded. "Good. I will eat most of the pies though," he said with a grin on his lips. Blue eyes watched K'dan as he walked out of the Dining Cavern. Then his attention was brought to Akki as she rushed up.
"Hello, Akki," the Weyrleader said with a little smile. Sh'iron stood there, thinking of who he would need to search the base of the mountian. "Well then, I see T'rin waiting over there. So you riders go on and do what you have to do. I'll go round up my riders and weyrfolk to help," At this note, Sh'iron gently pushed Christae towards the back of the caverns.
"And if any of you get tired, promise me that you will get rest. I can't have tired riders."

Nike tilted her head as K'dan just walked out of the cavern without even a good-bye.
What was that about?
Mabey he is tired of you going off on Weyrleader business, and he is left in the shadows. I would also get tired if I were K'dan.
Yes, you are right. Nike sighed, then turned to Christae.
"When you are ready, Weyrwoman," The rider said with a smile. Her stomach rumbled, so she took another meat roll, and ate it quickly.
Zim cherped, and rubbed her little head against the healer's cheek.

K'dan walked down the hallway and headed to his barracks. What is wrong mine? K'dan said not a word and kept walking. When Hydrath tried speaking again K'dan simply shut him out. He walked into his barracks. No one there but himself. Sharan flew in and rested on the bed. K'dan absentmindedly shooed him away and sat up on the bed. Sharan chittered but flew off and rested elsewhere. Hydrath grumbled at the fact that K'dan would not so much as reply to him. It seemed his rider was not up for talking. Perhaps he woke up on the wrong side of the bed, then again he did wake up in a most unconventional way. Though Hydrath doubted that. Hydrath gave another grumble and decided to think nothing more of it and rested where he was.

Hali waited for Christae to finish speaking. She finished off the rest of her Klah, which was cold by then. Hali stood up and turned to Perin. "Shall we search the male half of the candidate barracks?" She asked the fellow candidate.

Perin turned to Kalor. "I guess we'd better. I don't think the girls would like to search our half. At least we can be useful now. I feel so useless because I don't know what to do. Now we can help. Let's go and we can round up Jakel, Tavril and the others. Hasima, Malenie, Kalihall and the other girls can search their side."

Rhia reached for the tray of meat rolls that Perin had brought. "Whoever was thoughtful enough to bring these, thank you. I am taking some with us in case any of us get hungry. We had better take a water skin or two. We might be there for a few hours."

Christae turned to face her weyrmate. "I will not rest until that egg is found." She told him stubbornly. Then she reached up and kissed him. "Be safe love." She whispered and then made her way towards the back entrance of the cavern. She heard Rhia's suggestion. "We have to pass through the kitchens anyway. I need to check with Uslanee to see if any of those passageways collapsed since the last time I was there. She is supposed to inspect them periodically."

As if on cue, Uslanee popped in, holding a basket and a shoulder pack. One was clearly for glows, and the other had some rather tasty smells emanating from it.
"Well, word travels faster than firelizards here, and here are some provisions for your search," the Headwoman said, smiling. "Some of the workers had started preparing the food before I even heard of a search party. I'm offended." She clearly wasn't from her tone, but she did love her sarcasm. "In here are some of the freshest slices of wherry and herdbeast, tubers, those new biscuits, and a few fruits on the top so be careful," she admonished to Akki, and handed the pack to the bluerider.
"And before you go looking around, one of the passageways is blocked. It's the southernmost fork that leads off from behind the storage room. The cave-in happened pretty much at the beginning of the tunnel, so there are only a couple rooms to search in there. Just be careful, all of you; I haven't had time to get that handsome new worker to clear it yet, and I don't want any of you getting hurt under my care, hm?"
She paused for a moment, anticipating Christae's words. "Now you, I know that you and I are the only ones that know this place, but if you get tired, come back," she said, not caring that everyone could hear her fussing after the Weyrwoman. "I will take care of Chiron, he can play with Rina's youngest while I'm taking care of hides. Might as well watch two, if you've got one already. And don't worry, I'll accomodate him when he gets sleepy."
T'rin came in on the tail end of this, and only grinned. He knew Uslanee, and this sure sounded like her. He relieved her of the basket of glows, and she glanced at him, distracted. "Ah, yes, thank you. Now all of you, don't forget to stop and eat something. I have to go get Chiron and get back to those hides, so be careful, and I don't want to hear of anyone coming back injured!" That last was stern, and having said her last, Uslanee walked out, on her way to the weyrleaders' weyr.
T'rin grinned again, and waited for orders. Uslanee was a character; there was no doubt about that.

Sh'iron rolled his eyes. "Of course, Christae," He said. The Weyrleader made the most of the short kiss that his mate gave him, then watched her walk off with Rhia, Akki, and Nike. He smiled, then turned around to gather up his riders.

Nike smiled as she trotted after Christae and the others. "Good, because I'm starving," She said, and rubbed her stomach.
"I will try to remember the passageways as best I can. But it has been awhile, so I don't think I will remember that well."
At this the Healer sniffed, and rubbed her eyes. She was tired, but she couldn't give up.
((All of a sudden, I just pictured Christae, Rhia, Akki, Nira, and Nike in a little group dressed in their dragon's colors, and looking ready to kill someone. ))

She had just realized that she never met any of the female candidates. Maybe she would know, and she would probably meet more male candidates too.

Chrisate showed more patience than she felt when Uslanee breezed in and began scolding her. "I know Uslanee. I will be careful and hopefully we will find the theif. Trust me, my riders won't let me get hurt. Sh'iron would have their hide if they did. Thank you for telling me about the collapsed passageway."

Rhia looked thoughtful. "Uslanee, since you are looking after Rina's newest and Chiron, do you think you can get someone to look after the twins as well? I just realized that G'han will be needed to search the weyrs. You know, Nira would probably know most of the passages as well. She came after but she joined some of our escapades. She's trustworthy too. We all know why you chose us. Its because we can be trusted not to tell the location of those passages."

"I agree. Uslanee, send Nira to the main passageway behind the kitchens. Tell her to hurry." Christae turned and walked into the cavern, pulling open her glow basket.

Nike gave a little smile. The Healer opened her glow basket, and walked after Christae. She called Crystal, and the little blue took his spot resting in her pack. His head poked out of the flap, eyes whirling. Zim scolded the little blue, then turned her attention back to the riders around her.
"Yes, Nira would be good. She had a little more time look around the caverns then us," She said. Memories flooded back into her mind. Everything, from touching the eggs, to her Weyrlings days with Tirith and the others. Nike had always been closer to Christae, Akki, Rhia, and Nira. But since she Impressed Ruanth, she was spending time witht he other Weyrlings, and Candidates. Thought they were all younger than her. Now, Nike felt that she had never re-Impressed, and that she and her friends all Impressed at the same Hatching. Nike smiled proudly, and raised her head.
"Just like old times," She murmered to herself.

Mine you realize you have to search the weyrling barracks. Hydrath finally broke through the thoughts. K'dan sighed and began searching to no avail. No clues, nothing. He slumped down on his bed and Sharan gave a chirp, but he didn't seem to hear it.

Akki nodded and said with a snort of amusement, "If she is using them, we will find her. I'm pretty sure we have them all memorized from our candidate days. We'll find her.". She replied to the Weyrleader's greeting with a 'Hello' of her own and a sloppy salute. She grinned sheepishly at Uslanee's warning and graciously took the pack and said, " Glad to know you're here to take care of us, even if we did snatch food from here before.".
Akki looked around at the glow baskets and then dissapeared for a moment, only to come back (Breathing slightly hard at her mad dash) with a glow basket of her own. "Didn't want to feel left out." She said with a small grin and a shrug. She followed after Nike and Christae and said to herself, "Just like old times, where we all got yelled at and could freely act immature. However, some of us still do that I think.", she added, meaning herself.

Nira came running into the lower caverns with Lina chirping angrily at her. The queen had been resting on the greenrider's shoulder when she had dashed off. "Sorry..I'm...late." She said in between breaths. She didn't think she had ever ran that fast before. After she caught her breath she noticed they were heading for the passages. A smile broke out on her face and she followed them.
"If the theif ran in here, they would probably get stuck here, even if she wasn't found." At first Nira smiled but it quickly dissappeared. "But we will find her. I am sure." Nira added quickly.
Lina took her place on Nira's shoulder and chittered angrily into the greenrider's ear. Nira flinched a bit.
