Tavril could hardly believe what had just happened. As the huge dragon spiralled down from the heights over Darkmoon Weyr, the 17 Turn old peered over it's back, to get his first look at the place that would be his new home. The panorama of the Weyr spread out below him in a breathtaking sight, and though Tavril was more mature than many of those who came here in hopes of Impressing, it was the first time he had seen anything so beautiful. The wings of the dragon beat down in a powerful rhythym, as the immense creature slowly descended to the Weyr below. Tavril couldn't stop staring, though he was fully aware that if he leaned over much more, he risked plummeting off of the dragon's back...and that would leave Khaliall alone in a strange place. Which he could not risk. Sensible, the young man leaned back into a steadier position, and snuck a glance at the young woman perched behind him, with large eyes focused steadily on the back of his head.
She was Tavril's half sister. That wasn't to say that he wasn't fond of her. In fact, if one had surmised that, they would have been entirely wrong. It was just that Tavril was never a person to demonstrate his affection in the way that some people did. As the dragon swooped lower, Khaliall gave soft gasp, and clutched at the straps that held her strapped safely to the dragon's back. She pitched forward slightly, stiffly righting herself as she glanced down. "How much longer?" she asked on a soft breath. She had not wanted to come. It was only on Tavril's insistence that she had been taken with him to the Weyr, rather than staying alone. She had had an impending marriage with a holder, about half a turn ago. Since she was only 14, he believed that she was far too young...though her father thought otherwise. He grimaced at the recollection of that close call, and gave her a rare smile. "Not long, Khali." She was not a candidate, though the Searchrider had almost left her at Onwetend Hold on the basis of her age. Tavril had insisted that his sister had to come with him...and so, the Searchrider had reluctantly agreed that she should be able to. Lower Caverns people were always welcome in the Weyr. There was 3 years age difference between the pair, and he always made sure to look after his little sister, since their mother had left them shortly after her birth.
The look which she had given Tavril, as the rider declared his worth as a candidate, was one of pride, awe and fear as she realized that he would be leaving her alone. He had known, then, that he could never do that to her. She had never been an outgoing child. As her brother, he was the one who was privelaged to behold the workings of her mind, as she grew and developed...and withdrew into herself as she realized that the other children either pitied or scorned her. She was bright. There was no denying it. The fact that she did, was one that was a source of eternal vexation to Tavril. He snorted. His sister was too sensitive for her own good. If she had her way, she would spend her entire time locked up in some records room, with her dreams and dust. He couldn't have left her at the Hold...but that she was not denied the privelage of coming with him to the Weyr, even as a Lower caverns woman, pleased him. Maybe being in a weyr would help his solemn sibling lighten up. The dragon which both perched on now landed in the Courtyard of Darkmoon Weyr with a soft thud, and Tavril's smile faded back into his habitual stony mask. At 17 turns and far more mature than many of this age, and nearly a man unlike many candidates, he was uncertain as to how he would be received in the Weyr...but determined to succeed, whatever the case.
Khaliall darted a wary glance at the Searchrider, as she too slid down, and landed on the stones below lightly, with a stumble. The rider tossed down their bags, and Tavril gave him a stiff nod of thanks...before the dragon and rider sprang into the air, and vanished between. They stood alone, as far as either was aware. She swallowed convulsively, and stared straight ahead with gray-green eyes. Tempted to look around, she fought to smother that urge with the belief that she was not going to fit in here. She never did, anywhere. Therefor, there was no use being all awed and getting her hopes up for anything. Especially acceptence. At least she was with Tavril. In all her life, her half-brother had always protected her...and she hoped, fervently, that he would continue to do so. Without him, Khaliall was lost. However, they were both at a loss for what to do now that, at last, they were in the Weyr, and in a place that was wildly different from any either had ever encountered before. Tavril was as lost as she.
((I hope you don't mind that I brought them in without a Search, and into the Courtyard. I had no inspiration for a Search, and this was the best I could scrape up. If anything doesn't make sense in it -especially if Khaliall is mentioned as a candidate- then let me know.))

( you so pwn compared to my rping skills.)
G'han walked along with Akki in the weyrbowl. The two had seen each other in the lower caverns and ate together and now they were coming out as they saw the pair before them. G'han looked over to Akki and asked, "New arrivals?". He walked over to the pair and introduced himself. "Hello there. I am G'han of bronze Gerenanth", he introduced with a nodding bow. "May I ask who the two of you are? Candidates would be my first guess though", he continued with a smile.

Ooc|| Dx I was going to say that Dragonic. Stop stealing my line!
Akki was contently rambling on about some nonsense to G'han, who probably tuned out by now. Truth be told, she wasn't even listening to herself, she was just talking about anything. Mostly because she hated silence, even comfortable silence. It made everything seem still, dead even. She probably hasn't stopped talking since they met and ate together, which probably annoyed most people. Not that she minded, after all, people could tell her to shut her mouth at any time.
She watched as two people landed on the ground after sliding off a dragon, who soon sprang into the air and dissapeared into the nothingness of /between/. Akki was trying to see if she ever saw them in the Weyr before when G'han spoke up. Oh. Perhaps that's why she didn't recognize them, they were knew. That made sense. "Probably." Akki said, grinning slightly at her own foolishness.
Watching as G'han headed towards them, she followed taking care not to step on his heels, even though it did amuse her when people reacted when she did that. Most of the times they either shot her a dirty look her tried to step on her toes happily. "What about the expression ladies first G'han?" She asked sarcastically (In a nice way however), commenting on him introducing himself first. She winked at the two..candidates perhaps? and chirped, "I'm Akki, rider of blue Ebbeth.". She looked at G'han, snorted softly and said, "You're pretty blunt.".

G'han was half way listening to Akki's rambling. One thing about his friend was that she loved to talk and silence seemed her mortal enemy. Over time the two had really become close friends and he starting viewing her as a sister to him. He gave a smile to her words then followed, "Being around you one tends to get a little blunt". He then turned to look at the pair before him.

((*snickers at Akki* Er...I'm too tired to do another post like that one. This will be a lot shorter, I think.))
Khaliall glanced up, startled, upon hearing a voice addressing them, and shot a wary glance towards Tavril. Her half-brother straightened, and shot her a glance back. Seeing that he was looking surly, and doubting that he was in a mood to be polite, the shy 14 turn old took it upon herself to speak to the two riders. "I'm Khaliall, and this is my brother Tavril," she ventured hesitantly. "It's my pleasure to meet you, G'han of bronze Gerenanth and Akki of Blue Ebbeth." The fact that the woman rode a blue surprised the girl, but her features remained enigmatic.
Tavril studied his sister with faint surprise, stunned that she had actually spoken to people whom she had never met before. "I'm a Candidate," he added quickly. "Khaliall just wanted to come to the Weyr...though she might be when she's older." A tentative smile played about the girl's lips, and she raised one shoulder in a slight shrug. "I doubt it," she murmured to herself. "We just flew in from Onwetend Hold," he tacked on after a moment of rather awkward silence. Shyly, Khaliall extended a hand to shake. The under-the-breath exchange between the two riders amused her, and she watched them in grave silence for a moment, before looking towards Tavril, who was looking almost as uncomfortable in his new surroundings as she felt. He had a lot more to worry about, considering that he was to be a Candidate, where she...was not.

Kalie flew in from between. She flew around in circles a few times, chirping happily. A note was ties to the green flitts leg. Finally she flew towards the new arrivals and urged one of them to remove the note from her leg.

Akki glared at him and shoved him slightly and replied, "Being around you makes me violent.". She wiped that glare off her face and soon it was replaced with a wide smile and dancing eyes as said, "Welcome Khaliall and Tavril.". She loved meeting new people, it felt like that it was her goal in life, too meet as many people as possible.
That didn't mean she had to like them, just meet them. Akki blinked and then narrowed her eyes as she tried to identify the green flitt that was flying towards the arrivals. "Sargon? No, not him. Too calm." Akki said before shrugging as the flitt came closer, cherping.
She slapped her head with her hand and tehn said, "Ow. That was harder than I thought.". Rubbing her head for a moment she said, "Oh yeah. I remember why I did that. You have no idea where the candidate barracks do you?". She touched her once more, shrugged and put her head down.
Wait, Khaliall wasn't a candidate? Where would she stay? Probably in the candidate barracks too, but perhaps Christae should be asked. Mostly because Akki didn't want to give the wrong answer. "G'han, where would she sleep? Candidate barracks?" Akki asked, mumbling it under her breath so, or she hoped, only her friend heard.

G'han shook the young girl's hand and smiled. He then turned to Akki. "I don't see a reason why she couldn't atleast sleep there. The barracks aren't overrun with girls and she would be closer to her brother. I am sure that would make her feel more comfortable. For now we can show her the barracks and she can hang around her brother until we bring this up with the Weyrleaders", he whispered to her. He then turned back to the two and said, "Why don't we show the two of you to the candidate barracks. Follow us". He motioned to them and nodded at Akki for her to follow.

Akki nodded, it was true, there weren't very many female candidates. Actually, she only met one, well more like she nearly ran into one, Hasimo? No, Hasima, that was her name. She shook her head, trying to clear it as she began to follow. Nearly scared the girl to death, almost plowing her over like that.
Akki stuck her tongue out at G'han, hoping he wouldn't see since she was behind him. "G'han? Am I a flitt?" She asked, winking at the two arrivals. She followed behind them, this time promising herself to avoid people's heels. "So, what's Onwetend Hold like? Heard of it, but never been there before." Akki asked.

Khaliall's tentative smile increased slightly at the evident warmth of the two riders, and their apparent happiness to see them. Noticing the firelizard, she took a step backwards, with a glance towards Tavril, as if checking with him to see what she should do. Her elder brother shrugged, and her uncertain gaze transfered to the two riders, and she gave a mute gesture towards the firelizard, and entreating look. "Should I take the note off?" she queried in a very small voice, as she struggled to restrain the smile that threatened to steal across her features as she watched Akki. Tavril answered, with a bemused glance at his half-sister. "No ma'am. We do not," he responded solemnly, with a raised eyebrow at her antics.
At 17 (well...nearly 18) turns, sometimes he fancied himself almost grown up, and beyond the so-called 'childish' behavior that many of his age demonstrated. Khaliall retrieved her hand from the bronzerider after he had obediantly shook it. They...seemed...to now be talking about where she should stay, not being a Candidate, and the general consensus, from what she heard as she strained her ears to pick up their muttered conversation, was that she ought to stay in the barracks, to be closer to her brother. That possibility made her brighten, and she gave up trying to listen in on the whispered conversation. After all, Khaliall did have manners, and she knew that however interesting it could be, eavesdropping was wrong. Especially when it was two riders...and even when it concerned her. She had expected to stay in the Lower Caverns or something, but the possibility that she would be near Tavril was a great relief to the shy young woman. She wasn't going to jeaprodize that possibility. The firelizard and note forgotten, her optics brightened, and she smiled gratefully at the two riders, forgetting, too, that she wasn't supposed to have heard, though the rider's last words seemed to imply that she was going to the candidate's barracks...at least, for a little while.
Tavril, on the other hand, did not bother trying to listen. He could not see why it was his business, and therefore he had no need to hear what they were saying. Politely, he turned away, and absently studied his new surroundings. His thoughts came back to himself in time for the young man to hear G'han speak. "That would be wonderful," Tavril responded quickly, with a rare smile, which flickered across his features and was gone. Khaliall, wide eyed, watched Akki with fascination as she stuck her tongue out at the rider, and then winked at herself and her brother. The young woman had never seen anyone, much less a rider, behaving so silly. She stifled the urge to giggle, and grin back at her, schooling her features with the ease of long practice. Tavril was not so subtle. Another brief smile was startled out of him, and he nodded slightly. "Onwetend Hold is...much more formal than the Weyr seems to be," he responded after a moment, with a short glance towards his sister, who had lapsed back into customary silence. "It is very well run, with good profits. The Holder is a decent man." The Holder was also Khaliall's father.

Akki's grin faltered for a moment before she laughed out loud, and it quickly came back and said, "I must be giving the Weyr a bad name!". She calmed, her at least attempted too, herself down and said, "You had the pure luck of meeting me right away, which actually, really isn't lucky at all. I'm insane, literally. Everyone else is pretty normal, so is the Weyr.".
"No doubt. I think most Holder's have to be decent. If they weren't then the Hold would fall apart from underneath them. Crumbling at first, before dissapearing completely into chaos." Akki said before adding, "That is however my opinion, others may call it idiotic.".
Akki looked over the flitt and said, "I think...it is Kalie? Better take it off, some flitts will annoy you until they get what they want. Trust me on that one.". Was it Kalie? She couldn't really tell flitts apart, unless it was Sargon and only because he would run into people. Yes, now she was almost sure of the fact it was Kalie.
"Is it okay if you two both stay in the Candidate barracks?" Akki asked, tossing a look over to G'han before looking back at the two. "I must be honest, I'm not sure if it is going to be permanent, since Khaliall isn't a candidate I'm not sure where she will stay. We will bring it up with the Weyrleaders however, and get their input. If you want us to request something, for example if you do want to stay together in the barracks, better tell us now so I can hint at it while not being subtle about it.".

Tavril, with widening eyes, shook his head vigorously. "No, Ma'am! You're not giving the Weyr a bad name..." he said hastily, though he couldn't help but watch her with awe as she laughed. No one that he had ever met laughed so often as this blue rider, he decided. Holders must be more stiff than Weyrdwellers. "I doubt that," he said gravely. "Few people are truly insane. Normality is dull, so..." he faltered, forgetting where he had been going with that point. He abandoned it, for lack of anything sensible to continue with.
He nodded in wordless agreement with her next words, though glanced briefly at his sister, who seemed to be occupied with staring fixedly at a firelizard. "That's very accurate. Were you a Holder?" he queried after a moment, in an uncharacteristic demonstration of curiousity. "I mean...not many non-Holders would grasp that..." He trailed off again, wondering if he had offended her. "But the Holder is a very decent man. He is not, perhaps, the most open of people but he is a good leader." Enigmatic optics flickered over Khaliall, who shot him a raised eyebrow look that clearly stated her opinion of his description...and then an upwards curl of the corners of her lips that told her Half brother that she thought that he wasn't one to talk about people who weren't 'the most open of people.'
"I don't think it's idiotic," Khaliall ventured softly. "I think it's a very good way to describe it." The girl shot another glance at the firelizard, and tentatively, uncertain what to do, attempted to coax the green onto her arm so that she could remove the message that it seemed to be thrusting at her. The little creature was chirping angrily, and she decided that to avoid the risk of offending the little green, she ought to do what she so evidently wanted. After a moment of struggle, as she fought to remove the note(sorry if that's a bit of powerplaying, Tenma) she managed to detatch it, and skimmed it briefly, with optics too used to reading in the dim light of a Records hall. She nodded in accord to what Akki said about the firelizard. "I've seen firelizards like that...some are far worse than this one when it comes to getting what they want," she murmured under her breath as she perused the contents of the note which the firelizard had brought.
"Staying in the Candidates Barracks would be fine with me," Khaliall said quickly, afraid that her brother would defer, and say that whatever was best for the Weyr worked for them. "It doesn't matter if it's permanent." In a rare display of agitation, her soft tones had increased, and she was speaking at an audible volume rather than in a whisper. "As long as is necessary! I'd be happy to stay wherever you wish to put me, of course, but if the Candidate Barracks works for you, I would be happy to stay there...well, at least for the time being, and longer if it's permitted" she concluded, as her voice dropped once more, wondering if her final hint would be recognized. Tavril gave her a slightly amused look, and his eyes darted over the green firelizard that the Bluerider had called Kalie. "I'm sure that Khaliall wouldn't mind staying elsewhere if the Weyrleaders decree it," Tavril added with what he thought was tact. "But for now, the Candidate Barracks will be fine."

((No problem. That was what I wanted you to do.))
The note read:
Welcome new arrivals, Welcome to the Weyr. I am sorry I can not come to meet you but I am... busy. I hope you have a good time and get suited in well. P.S. Please tell whomever is there with you, that Kalie is mearly delivering a message then coming straight back to me. Dear, Jr. Weyrwoman, Miya, Weyrling rider of gold Reinath.
Miya was busy, busy with the extra chores that Christae had put her on as punishment. She had sent the message, trying to fix her reputation, but she really didn't want to seem to nice. She didn't want anyone to think she was getting weak or soft. She added the P.S. because she didn't need anymore punishment. She had heard what the Weyrwoman said, and did not want to follow Decir out of the Weyr. Besides, it was Reinath who made her send the note anyways, but she didn't have to tell anyone that.

"Don't lie." Akki said, pretending to scold him as she waggled her finger at him, "I know I give it one. That's okay however with me, it's who I am.". She wasn't sure if she actually gave the Weyr a bad name, she was sure that she seemed odd and, well, insane to most of the people in the Weyr. But if they haven't figured out that that's who she is, then they were rather slow.
Akki stared at him for a moment, wide eyed as he asked if she used to be a Holder, before blurting out, "HA!.". She snorted and continued, wiping a tear of amusement from her eye, "Me? A Holder? That Hold would fall apart like that.". She emphasized the last part with a snap of her fingers. "I'm not responsible enough, or have the patience to become a Holder." She admitted with a small grin, as if sharing a secret even though everyone knew she had little patience.
She looked at Khaliall and shouted to G'han, "Hey, G'han! I said something that wasn't idiotic for once! Aren't you proud?". She looked back at the two and said, "He's proud. I know it.". She winced slightl and said, "Wait until you have the mispleasure of meeting my flitt, Sargon. Most annoying thing you will ever see. I warn you now, you feed him and he'll attach himself to your side. Ask anyone.".
"I'm going to blunt. I do that alot, you'll learn that soon enough." She said, trailing off for a moment before gathering her thoughts and said, "Tavril, you continue to be stiff and I'm going to cut off your toe. Say what's on your mind, what you want, not what you think is right.". She repeated that in her head, then nodded. Yeah, that sounded about right. "I'll tell them what you two said though, and I'll either come and tell you, or send Sargon to inform you of their decision.".

"Oh yes. Very proud. Infact I don't know how you managed it", he said to her then started to walk along side her. They now stood before the candidate barracks. "That side is the girl's and this side is the boy's", he said to them, giving a nod to each side as he mentioned them. "You can put your things in here. Pick a bunk", he told the male as he led him in.

Akki grinned and said, "I don't know homw I managed either. I must be gaining intelligence with every passing second!". With that said, she playfully elbowed him and said, "You know, for being proud of me, you sure don't sound like it.". She paused and then added, "You should yell it. That'll show me you mean it.".
When they reached the barracks, and G'han showed which side belonged to what gender, Akki added, "Make sure you don't choose a room that's already been chosen. That would be pretty awkward if you were sleeping and all of a sudden a person sat on you thinking their bunk was rather lumpy.".
