Candidate Gathering

Jakel ran towards the lake. A large, broad grin was plastered on his tan face. His shaggy hair was messy, like always, but his eyes were filled with excitment. He had promised Wolf that today he would take her to the lake and let her meet everyone. And this was how he was going to do it. THe candidate wrote a letter on a peice of parchment explaining that candidate could go to the lake for a candidate gathering. He had put that by the door to the barracks.

Jakel sat down on the shore and leaned his back against the trunk of a tree as he waited for everyone to come.

Stella walked toward the lake. She sat down next to Jakel and said, "Well, I'm here." She sighed and looked at the lake waiting for everyone else to come. She was excited because she wanted to meet everyone.

(you can bring her and say she just arrived at the weyr....you can just put that you were Searched..you dont have to do the actual thread if you dont want to...just say it was an npc searchrider or ask one of the searchriders, Nira or S'dim if you can mention their names in your post....))

She hadn't even seen the note in the candidates barracks but yet she still headed towards the Lake. Aderyn was surprised at just how quiet it was out here. She had grown just far too used to Hold life and the people there. But it seemed to be really very different here in the Weyr and around even.
For once Seth was not perched on Aderyn's shoulder but running ahead of the girl, exploring and disappearing then reappearing in a way that cats do. She couldn't help but smile as she watched Seth. He was the only thing on Pern that could get such a tender look from Aderyn or such a gentle smile. Seth meant the world to the new candidate.
As they walked, following Seth's eratic path, a voice different over to Aderyn. Seeing that she was in a good mood, Aderyn felt like going to see what was going on.
As she neared the lakes edge, Aderyn spotted two peopl sat by a tree. As she turned to leave, thinking that they wanted to meetin privacy, a blonde haired boy walked over to them.

Lucian bowed to the pair and introduced himself rather formally before sitting on the ground, facing Jakel and Stella. The he saw Aderyn.
"Are you coming to join, fair lady?" Lucian asked as he looked over at the girl. He had seen the letter on the door and thought it might be good to go to. Lucian had been surprisingly social since arriving at the Weyr, a lot more then he usually was. But he was turning more into his old self, quieter mainly. His plan here was to sit and listen, to find out more about his fellow candidates rather than socalising with them all. A part of him wondered if Rizu would be coming, she was the only person he really knew here yet.

Aderyn narrowed her eyes as Lucian spoke. She thought that he was mocking her with the 'fair lady' comment. She decided not to go over and join them when Seth darted over to the small group, mewing as he went.
"Seth!" Aderyn cried as she followed him, pausing a few feet from the other candidates, not sure what to do.

[Tenma]

Jakel waited, but finally another girl came. "I suppose you are. My name is Jakel. What is yours?" He asked happily, his eyes reflecting his voice.

Then another boy came and introduced himself as Lucian. Once again, Jakel spoke. "The name is Jakel." He smiled before noticing another girl chasing her feline. "Come on! What are you waiting for?" He questioned the girl with a laugh.

He would wait for a few more people.

[Dragon]

Dicer was walking by the lake as he often enjoyed its beauty but he was suprised to find a gather of people there. He gave a scowling glare as if they intruded on him. He began to walk past them and head to the other side of the lake, hopefully he could still enjoy the scenery and not be bothered. As he did so he walked by the girl known as Aderyln and seemed as if she didn't exist as he walked past her. Dicer often ignored those while he passed by them.

Aderyn looked a Jakel a moment before Dicer past her, completely ignoring her. Aderyn turned her head to watch him as he passed her.
"Men...Always so rude." She muttered, ignoring the fact that Lucian and Jakel seemed to be perfectly nice. After that she turned back to the little group sitting on the ground and saw that Seth had gone over to Jakel and was nudging his knee with his little head. Aderyn couldn't help but smile as she saw that.
"I wasn't waiting for anything." Aderyn said coolly as she wondered over and sat down near the group. But not too close really. She didn't feel comfortable sitting closely to people she didn't know.

"Greetings Jakel." Lucian said, also watching Dicer go past. "My name is Lucian." He told Aderyn with a little smile. "May I ask what yours is?" He asked politly which only earned him a stearn look from the girl as well as a reply.
"It's Aderyn."

[Dragon]

Dicer's ears twitched and gave a pausing stop as he heard that comment then replied with one of his own, "Women, always so full of themselves". The tone was void of emotion or attachment and he continued to walk away.

[Tenma]

Jakel laughed as the feline nudges his knee. He placed his hand on Seth's back and rubbed his fur. "Nice feline, what is his name?" He asked Adyren.

Decir then walked by. Jakel sighed. "That is Decir. He is a candidate but considers himself to good to be one." He laughed. Jakel then heard something. He noticed Miya was sitting a bit away from the lake and the others. SHe was between the ground and Decir, obviously so she could keep an eye on everything.

Hasima slowly shuffled down towards the Lake, her feet dragging as her head look down at them. Earlier that morning she was brought to the Weyr, courtesy of a dragon rider who had her Searched, and she was slowly making her way to the candidate barracks. She got instructions from a drudge, who was kind enough to repeat them a few times until she had it memorized, and mentioned something about a note. She stood there for a while, reading it again and again as she debated whether or not to go. She promised her father that she would try to make friends here, but how would he know if she went back on it? He wouldn't.

But she would, and she adored her father too much to lie to him, and so that's how she was heading down to the lake. She lifted her head slightly, and pushed back some hair that got in the way of her view as voices reached her ears. She gathered her breath as she continued to go down towards the lake, but it all came out as she spotted people. She paused, wondering if anyone would notice if she turned and head towards the barracks. Biting her lip, she went towards the other people.

Jakel noticed the new girl. "Hey!" He waved his arm in her direction. "Are you new?" He asked. He didn't know everyone's name but he had seen most of them before. But not this girl.

Hasima assumed he was talking to someone else, no one ever talked to her. Never. Unless they were forced too. But when no one spoke for a moment, it registered that he actually was talking to her.

Lifting her head and looking at the boy instead of the ground she opened her mouth to reply, but nothing came out. She blushed, obviously embarrassed, and quickly (Which seemed rather slowly to everyone else no doubt) said, "Hasima.".

Jakel wondered why she wasn't answering, but then she did. "Well come on, Hasima. We are all waiting for you." He laughed.

She blinked, scrunched up her forhead in thought before shuffling over to the others and asked slowly, "Waiting for me?". She had already forgotten aobut the note, it was replaced by other thoughts on her way down.

Her eyes widened as she realized the note and said, her words slurring slightly because she realized that she must have sounded lame, "Oh. The note. I remember.". She looked back down at the ground before sitting down, her hands squished underneath her.

Remi walked down by a tree and leaned on it. She saw Jakel and the other canidates, so she walked over. She hardly knew anyone and didn't feel like talking at the moment, but she figured she be polite. "Hey," She said as she walked toward them.

Wow, there were a lot of people here. She probably should have suspected that, since the note was by the entrance to the Barracks. Chera blinked slowly, not sure if she should step forward or not. She wasn't good around people, and often felt awkward, causing her to say the wrong things. That could anger a person very easily. Then Chera smiled. A friend or two wouldn't be bad. These people seemed nice enough, so she shyly walked forward. "Hello." she said quietly, seeing if anyone would respond to her.


As soon as Vissou had seen the note, he knew it would be a good idea to go to the lake. It would be nice to know everyone's name, if having friends was too much to ask of them. He wouldn't blame them if they didn't want to be his friends. Perhaps word had reached them that he was not the most popular person on Pern? Maybe they'd heard about the vicious taunting he had went through almost everyday as a Weyrbrat. Or maybe they hadn't. Could he rebuild his image? Vissou took a deep breath, and stepped to the group. "Hey." he said. "My name's Vissou."

The note had been rather alluring, the male had to give kudos to whoever had come with the idea of it. And, while he had seen the note at his barracks, his sister had failed to do so. He'd gone to fetch her, only to find her reading a book another candidate had lend her. Was it Dicer? He wasn't sure, she had only mentioned that once and, in reality, he really didn't care as long as his sister wasn't bothered. Chocolate brown eyes watched his younger sibling on her bed, the sketchpad besides her as she read the day away, almost finished with the book.

“Hey, going anywhere today?”

Olive gaze moved away from the pages and to the male figure at the entrance of the barracks, ebony hair whored in a rather messy way, before she grinned slightly. It had been a while since she had been able to talk to him, her brother had been too busy checking the place out to plot pranks and escape routes from chores. Typical of him really. To his question she simply nodded her head, passing the last page of the book before closing it. She was done with, very interesting it had been, and now she needed to deliver it back.

“Yup, I need to find Dicer and give him his book back. Finished it. Why? You had something in mind?”

“Not really, just felt like going to the lake. Want to come? I think a few of the other candidates will be there.”

She pondered for a moment before nodding, picking book and sketchpad before walking over to her brother. Stepping aside he let her pass before walking besides the red-head, heading towards the lake. To be honest the male saw little familiar faces once he reached the place. He'd hoped to see Anassa specially since last time they hadn't been able to chat properly. His sister, however, seemed to have better luck. Spotting Lucian she grinned, waving slightly in greetings to the male before she walked over to him, handing him her sketchpad.

“Lucian, could you please hold this for me? Just for a moment. I'll be back really quick.”

The male was nice enough for her to trust him with her sketchpad, something that indeed surprised her brother who simply took a seat among the group, before she walked off behind Dicer, book in her arms. Calling out to him she quickened her steps slightly, soon reaching him and standing in front of the male, smiling slightly before she handed the book over. Lucky for him she had arrived to late to hear his previous comment.

“Here you go, done with it. It was very interesting. Now come on and join the others, this looks rather fun.”

With that she moved back to the group, sitting herself next to Lucian and taking her sketchpad back, nodding to him as she murmured a thanks and a greeting.

Jakel noticed many candidates were coming. He didn't expect so many to come, yet Wolf still wasn't here. He wouldn't start without her and break his promise.

Miya noticed that many people were coming to the lake. She didn't know why, and then she realized they were all candidates. Maybe they had put together some kind of meeting, she wasn't sure but she would probably find out. Then one of the girl's mentioned a note and Miya assumed she was right. One of the candidates had written a note for all of the candidates to come here.

Her eyes wandered back to Decir and she sighed. What had Tonu seen? She still wasn't able to figure it out and it had been driving her insane. She noticed one of the girls walk over to him. She thought about the images she had recieved, but it wasn't her. SHe watched the girl walk over, say the book was good and hand it back. It wasn't like Decir to hand someone something for no reason. Maybe he was getting soft, like Melanie.
