Her dull brown eyes watched as candidates, or at least she assumed they were candidates, seemed to pour in. She watched as a girl went over to a guy, who was sitting by himself it seemed, handed him something and walked back. She raised her head and looked at the guy named Vissou, stared for a moment and then mumbled her name. However, she wasn't sure if he heard her or not because she said it in barely a whisper.
She pulled her knees up to her chin and rested it on them, as she looked out at the lake. She rarely swam, she never was invited to go back at Southern Boll. The kids complained she was to slow and left her behind. She took a deep breath and said something quietly before repeating it again. This time she said it louder, words could actually be heard instead of random mumbling. "What is this...." She said, searching for the right word before she continued, "What is this gathering for?". Yes, she did say it rather slowly, except it didn't matter to her.
Not then at least. Her eyes seemed to brighten and a small grin crept on to her face. She had gained enough courage to say something to a bunch of strangers. Considering her life and how she was treated by others her age, this was a pretty amazing thing for her to do.

Wolf had woken-up late, not that she'd meant to, but man... She couldn't remember a time when she had slept at least a little better then most times. This place didn't really feel like home but who cared, for her there was no home.
She had gotten up quickly that morning, surprised on how she could ever forget having been told that today was the lake gathering...
Wolf came walking to wards the fair-sized group, hands slipped in to her pockets. She wore the clothes that the other girl in the Candidate Barracks had been nice enough to give her. She became nervous, taking her time on actually reaching the tree where they were all grouped. She tried to spot Jakel, concerning herself that he was all that she needed to focus on. She wore her hair down, as most other times, her eyes locking on the boy. 'He did this all for me... I don't think there's a way for me ever to repay him...' she thought to herself, thoughts trailing-off as she took a spot next to him.
"Hey," Wolf smiled softly, trying not to increase her nervousness by looking around at the others. Finally, able to brake-away, she did happen to gaze about. She'd nod to some, not wanting to seem in the least bit rude. She prepared a quick apology in her head before turning back to Jakel. "Sorry, for being late... its just that I accidentally slept in and-" she trailed-off, wondering if any one would ever consider her reliable. "Really, I'm sorry," the girl frowned. She pushed her blond-brown hair behind her, putting her legs straight-out in front of her. She had to do her best not to be anti-social, though she had an ultimate fear of people not liking her for most times they didn't seem to. Jakel was amazing, beyond that even, she couldn't really sum up in to words how he had been since she met him... yesterday. She felt like she knew him already and maybe that was the wrong way to be but how was she honestly supposed to view him? No one had ever been this nice to her before, all except for Roxis.

"Wolf. Hey!" He said excitedly as the reason for the whole arrangement walked up and sat beside him. He laughed, "No problem. I have been there and done that. Sad but true." His smile didn't falter.
He noticed that she seemed nervous about the other. "Kay, I think this is everyone so we will get started. I know this is really cheesy and stupid but everyone can just say their name one at a time, since we are all new. I mean candidates are just the new people." He laughed.
"I am..." Jakel paused as if he had forgotten his own name. "Jakel." He added happily. He decided to start out, because he noticed some were shy, and Jakel was everything besides.

Wolf found comfort in knowing he wasn't disappointed in her. "Thanks," she said somewhat quickly, realizing she was acting like the others didn't exist. As he introduced himself she gained some courage to speak up herself, "I'm Wolf..." 'Did I mess that up?' she thought to herself, wondering if she should've said her last name too. Everything possible to be paranoid about she was.
She waited for the others to speak up, looking to some of them shyly. She hoped she wasn't the only one with an irrational fear of being alone, it was unlikely. She knew that others probably relied on companionship too, especially those of her own age.

Surely if she could talk she could do it again, Hasima thought to herself. She took a deep breath and said, "I'm Sahima.". She exhaled, there that wasn't too bad. She could handle that, she only spoke two words. Her lips twitched into the teeniest smile, proud of her accomplishment. It was rather said that she took pride in something so simple, but she learned to appreciate the little things in life.
Her eyes went wide as she realized something and her face immediatly burst into a cloud of red. "No, my name is Hasima! Not Sahima!" She said, her words slurring as her tongure tripped over itself when she rushed to correct her embarassing mistake. How could she mess up her own name? She thought, tears of embarassment trying to surface, but were forbidden too. She already messed up her name, she didn't want to start crying.

Jakel burst into laughter. He fell over laughing, as he often did."So...rry"He said in between bursts of laughter. He knew that the girl would be embarressed but Jakel laughed at even the simplist of things.

She expected to flinch when he laughed, and yet she didn't. His laugh wasn't that mocking laugh she was so used to hearing, it was a kind laugh, not one meant to inflict pain on her. She could handle laughter that wasn't aimed cruelly at her, everyone could, she supposed.
Realizing this, she noticeably relaxed and smiled very smally that it could be debatable if it was an actualy smile, or a twitch of her lips. "Sorry." She mumbled quietly, apologizing for her mistake and/ or if she confused anyone. There, she knew two people now, well, she at least their names. Jakel and Wolf.

Dicer looked at the girl who handed him his book. He nodded at her and said, "I think not". He heard Jakel saying everyone should say their name but he walked off and spoke speak no more. These people annoyed him and found none tolerable except the girl for some odd reason. Dicer was often a mystery even to himself. He walked off a good distance away from the others and sat under the shade of a tree. He leaned against it and closed his eyes.
