A young girl was lounging next to her dragon. Her arms were behind her head and she was semi dozing off. Abriana had been sick during the lessons and no one had wanted to test her strength. Now she was feeling much better but she knew she would have to do lessons with the new weyrlings from Kaith's new clutch.
Mearath was sleeping next to her bonded but she woke up every now and then. Finally she woke up and stayed awake. ~Abrianamine, I am tired of sleeping.~Mearath told her
~I am to, but we can't do lesson's because it's to late~ Bri replied. She sighed and sat upright, no longer leaning against Meareth.

Christae walked down the stairs from her Weyr, enjoying the warmth on her skin as Rukbat sent its warm rays down to Pern's surface. The Queenrider was glad that a pregnancy had not resulted from Kaith's flight but the Weyrwoman had taken care that it didn't happen. Little Chiron was enough to deal with and Thread would be falling all too quickly and she couldn't deal with the setback of another child.
The ninteen turn old Weyrwoman walked across the Weyrbowl. She was making her rounds of the Weyr, giving the Weyrfolk and riders a chance to voice their grievances or opinions. She also wanted to check up on the healing invalid in the Weyrling Barracks. The Weyr had been worried about young Abriana and her weyrling dragonet Mearath. The rider had fallen ill after the first couple of lessons on dragoncare and had been confined to the Infirmary.
The Weyrfolk and Riders had held their breath, not wanting to lose a young dragonpair so soon after Impression. Abriana had pulled through thanks to their excellent Healer staff and the support of the green Mearath. Now the Weyr would not lose a valuable dragonrider pair and Abriana would soon be starting lessons. She had a few months left to recuperate but she had been transferred back to the Weyrling Barracks. Christae wanted to see how Mearath was doing. The green was already almost a Turn old and still had not flown. Kaith had kept the green exercising her wings but the creature had refused to fly without her rider. The young woman suspected that the Barracks were too small for the green who should be in her own weyr by now despite the fact that she was still a Weyrling.
The Weyrwoman paused on her way to hear out grievances between two riders over a belt knife and quickly settled that argument. She continued on to the Barracks and opened the door. "Abriana?" She called softly. "I wanted to come and see how you and Mearath are doing."

"Come on in," Bri called to Christae. Abriana was relieved that there would be someone to talk to finally. She had gotten in a slight habit of talking to herself while she was in the infirmary. When she had been sick, she had known that Meareth wouldn't fly without her.
Bri smiled as she stood, her knees were wobbly from siting on the bed for so long. "Hello Weyrwoman Christae. I heard about flight. I'm glad that Myranath((SP?)) won the flight again," Abriana said to Christae.

Christae entered, pushing some of her brown hair away from her eyes. "Hello Abriana. I hope you are healing well." She smiled when she heard the girl's words about the flight. "I am glad as well. I couldn't imagine another bronze catching Kaith."
She sat on a chair next to the invalid's cot in the W'ling Barracks. "I hear you are up and about and getting stronger every day. I am glad to hear that. I look forward to watching you and Meareth finally graduate from W'ling status. As it is I fear we will have to teach you what to do when she flies sooner than normal Weyrlings would learn how to do. Your lessons will be rather strange because you already know the basics and Meareth is strong enough to carry you in flight."

Abriana nodded in complete understanding. She pushed a peice of her hair out of her eyes. Bri sat back down by her dragon, who was watching Christae with interest.
"Yes, I'm doing a lot better. I can't wait until we graduate either." Abriana said. She snickered at the fact that her lessons would be awkward. "I figured it would be strange when I did lesson's at last," She smiled.

She smiled. "At least you will be able to do lessons. We have another Weylrling pair who should be graduating with the current Sr. W'lings but he was called home by an emergency so he will finish his lessons with you as well. So you will not be the only one who is behind."
Christae twisted her hair back and used the runner tie around her wrist to secure it. "Lessons will go by quicker than you would think. Rhia will be taking over the post of Weyrlingmaster so your teacher will be someone you should know. If you don't know her, she is a good dragonrider."
She looked thouhtful. "I think she will begin teaching you how to fly sooner becase Mearath is almost old enough for her first flight and that wouldnt be good if she didnt know how to fly as well as most draons her age."

She nodded through most of what Christae was saying. But she heard that Rhia was taking over weyrlingmaster she smiled. "I believe I know her," Abriana said softly.
Meareth looked at Christae when she said that it would be bad for her not to know how to fly when she held a flight. So our lessons will begin sooner? Meareth asked her bonded. I don't know, let me ask Bri said to Meareth. "Weyrwoman, does that mean our lessons will start sooner? Meareth is confused and would like to know," She asked Christae.

"I believe that she will start you off after the clutching. She hasn't officially taken the post yet. She and I are still working out your lessons. I think you and T'rin will do well. He will be taking lessons as well although he has already flown and learned how to go /between/."
The young Weyrwoman smiled. "I think you should be glad you missed lessons with your fellow clutch-mates. They were a bit of a handful. Sh'iron and I had to take over lessons because G'age had to leave the Weyr."

"I see" Abriana said slightly nodding her head. Meareth jst layed there after that. "So when do you suppose Kaith will clutch?" Abriana asked Christae. She was as curious as could be.

"Kaith flew only a few days before. She should be clutching in about three months or so. She is already turning the burnished gold of pregnancy. She will be difficult for a while." Christae's voice was resigned to the fact that her Queen would be moody until after the eggs had been safely clutched and hatched.
