Ebbeth popped back from /between/ much to Akki's gratitude. /Between/ was not like flying, it was not weightless. In /between/ you felt vulnerable, trapped....you felt non-existent. Are you okay? Ebbeth asked as he gained altitude, following the new co-ordinates that Mneith kindly gave. No matter how prepared you are, you can never get used to that feeling. The feeling of vulnerability you can't shake off She admitted to the large blue as he flew near the others. Ebbeth bowed his head slightly to the dragons, Siarath, Mneith, Kaith. As he made the greetings he surveyed the girl, now wrapped tightly in fur blankets. Akki, not truly used to flying on Ebbeth and jealous of how the others looked so comfortable and dignified upon their own dragons, nodded to the others before looking at the girl.

G'han popped from between and joined the others. He would render assistance wherever he was needed. He followed along with the others and greeted them. "Hello weyrwoman Christae, Nira, Akki, and my lovely weyrmate Rhia", he said cheerfully.
Kaith, Siarath, Ebbeth, Mneith, greetings to you as well. Gerenanth said greeting each of the dragons.

Siarath didn't greet the other dragons as they popped in from between. Her many faceted eyes remained fixed on the injured girl as she waited for an answer. She understood how it could be strange being interrogated by a dragon, but if all went well with the Search and her healing this girl could be a dragonrider. Most found that to be worth it.
Nira smiled at all. "Hello Rhia, Mneith, Akki, Ebbeth, G'han and Gerenanth." She welcomed those that had come in the order they came. She had waited to greet them because she thought Siarath would first and there was non need to greet them if Siarath did, but the green was busy, so she greeted both the dragons and riders.

Akki exhaled deeply, not remembering that she was actually holding her breath. She looked away fro mteh injured girl and faced Nira before saying, "Nira, I envy you so. You get to do searches and is used to flying! I can barely stay on Ebbeth.". It wasn't just Nira who she envied, oh no, anyone who stayed on their dragon that looked dignified and refined was at the subject of her awe and envy. Ebbeth grinned slightly and then his face grew sober, What happened to her? he asked, the curiousity growing until it gnawed at his insides, forcing him to ask. Hopefully nothing horrid Akki thought to herself.

Greetings my clutch-brother. It has been a while since we last flew the skies together. Mneith said solemnly.
Mneith turned his head and blew at Gerenanth when the bronze appeared. Rhia smiled in loving exasperation. G'han had been trying to smother her with attention since the birth of their children. "Before I forget, it's your turn to take the twins tonight. I am going to learn dragon poker if everything goes ok with this girl." She told G'han.
"Does anyone have any idea about what happened?" She did not know that she was voiceing the same question as Ebbeth. "Does she have a name?" Rhia reached down to adjust a strap that was twisted against Mneith's hide. She did not want the dragon developing a sore that would prove fatal to the brown in the bitter cold of /between/.

"Oh that is no problem. You go ahead. I can take care of them", he said with a smile. He loved caring and spending time with the twins. He also tried to make sure he gave Rhia enough attention as well. Now he had his love divided four ways, First his dragon, then his weyrmate Rhia then finally his babies. All came in sequential, chronilogical order. He knew Gerenanth couldn't get enough of his attention. The two were bonded, G'han's thoughts were shared with Gerenanth and Gerenanth's with G'han. Gerenanth loved to watch how G'han would play with the twins, the dragon was never jealous and G'han knew that.
Gerenanth flew closer to Mneith and watched the others. Both rider and dragon wanted to know what was going on.

Nira looked to Siarath to answer the questions but she was too busy with the girl. ~Just tell me her name.~ Nira commanded, not liking being cut off from her dragon for so long. It normally didn't last this long, bt the time extended since the girl was injured.
It is Wolf. Siarath replied quickly, but then blocked Nira once more.
~Are you sure?~ Nira asked, never hearing of the name Wolf. Siarath didn't reply. Nira sighed at her dragon's behavior.
Nira turned to the others. "We were going on Search and we found her laying in the sand all cut up and bleeding. We aren't really sure what happened to her and I don't think she told Siarath yet. Her name is ..." Nira paused, still not sure about the unusual name "...Wolf." She finally said.
Nira then turned to Akki. "Though it is great to get out and stretch your wings and meet other people it isn't all that great to Search. Your dragon blocks you out, and that would be my least favorite part of it all." Nira explained to the envious Akki.

"Huh, maybe I could relieve you sometimes. I would love to have Gerenanth out of my head every so often", G'han said jokingly.
Gerenanth simply snorted at his comment and said nothing.

"Wolf? An interesting name no doubt, a nice one though. Unique."Akki said, rolling the name around in her head before she replied, "Depends on how you look at it Nira, your dragon ignoring you could be a postive thing". She finished her sentence with a wink. Laying in the sand? That probably wasn't a good thing, something must of happened and there was a chance they could never know if this girl, Wolf, decided she didn't want to tell them or forgot what happened which was a distinct possiblity.

Rhia nodded. "That is an unusual name. Our canines were supposedly decended from creatures called wolves on old Terra. You are right, sometimes having a dragon in your head all the time is annoying." She patted her brown affectionately. "No offence Mneith."
None taken my chosen.

The girl appeared to be disappointed by the mass amounts of questions that had just entered her head, all being asked from the single Search riding green... As many other dragons came in from /between/ she seemed somewhat bewildered. The look on her face was most clear though, 'amazement.' Wolf turned back to the Search riding green, coughing a few times, quickly reaching her hand up to cover her mouth. "Yes, I do wish to be a dragonrider," she sends to the Green, smiling softly. The thought was exhilarating. The girl was attempting to with hold another cough as best she could. Her chest began to ache some, likely from the stomach wound. 'I wish I wasn't surrounded by a sea of strangers, I wish I was there with you...' she thought, glad that she had some form of privacy to think over things for herself. The rest of the dragons questions she chose not to reply to, not wanting to have to explain the sentiment that he had to her. 'No, I won't relive it, no!' she thought to herself, feeling all the more depressed now. She thanked Christae a second-time for the warmth that she was providing.

Siarath realized she was upsetting the girl. Shhhh She soothed Wolf. I will ask you no more questions on the subject. Siarath told the girl. Why do you want be a dragonrider? Siarath asked.
"Do you need a drink?" Nira asked, noticing the girl was coughing.

Wolf couldn't ignore the fact that she felt that she was an official burden to those around her. "No, I'll be alright thanks." Her smile was now directed to wards Nira. The people here were almost too kind... Were they expecting something of her? "Thanks," she replied to Siarath with a frown as her gaze shifted to the fur coat that covered her body. When were they to arrive at the Healing wing? "I want be a hero... as foolish as that sounds. I know there are in fact few hero's in this world. But... even so... I feel like I should be a part of something more, something larger then my life as of present..."

Siarath simply looked at Wolf, as if examining her mind. Finally she spoke, but to Nira, Wolf couldn't hear. If she survives, Siarath paused, already not liking how she started her sentance, she is to become a candidate. Siarath gave a small dragonic grin.
Nira almost gasped when she heard how Siarath began speaking but she knew there was that chance and held back her gasp. Nira then smiled when she heard the rest of the sentance. "Wolf, I am pleased to inform you that after the healers are done with you, you will officially be a candidate." Nira explained, not wanting to mention the possibilty of death to the injured girl.

Christae nodded to the other riders. When Wolf thanked her she smiled encouragingly. "It is no problem dear." She said softly. Kaith's wings beat steadily onwards. The Healer behind her was holding on tightly. She felt sorry for the man. He obviously wasn't comfortable flying.
"I figured she would be suitable. Otherwise, Siarath would not be so interested in her."
She will live. She has to. Christae was startled by the Queen's sternness.

The girl blushed, having been embarrassed by the ignorance she showed to answering Siarath's questions. The green was just showing concern for her well-being. The two pair of Dragonriders were great company, that she would openly admit to any one. "Really," she said aloud, eyes widening. What a day this would prove to be! The thought of impressing a winged-creature of Pern was overwhelming. "Thank-you Siarath... Its an honor to be able to participate in any hatching..."
She had no appetite, in which she found somewhat odd yet didn't think too much of it at the time. "How much longer will it be to the Weyr?" she asked aloud, eager to rest. Her eyelids were becoming rather heavy, though much excitement went-on about her. Unfortunately she could not hear the words of Kaith for if she had she might have thought that there was hope for her after all.

"I believe it will be a few more minutes dear. We cannot take you /between/. Wounded as you are, the cold would send you into shock and kill you and we cannot take that chance. If you wish to sleep, you need not fear. Kaith will not let you fall. Nor will the other dragons that are flying as our escort. Rest easy."
Christae's voice was soft and soothing. It was sweet, but not babying. She tucked the furs more firmly around Wolf and then buckled her jacket. The wind rushing past them was chilly.
~Kaith love, can you fly faster? Her strength is fading.~
I can but it will be a bit rougher.
~We will have to bear it golden love, we need to get her to the weyr quickly.~
Christae raised her hand and gave the signal to fly faster to the other riders. Kaith's large wings swept the air with strong strokes, bringing them faster through the air.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Rhia caught the signal and settled herself more firmly in the straps, making sure that her safety strap was clipped properly.
~We are to speed up Mneith.~
Won't the girl get jostled. Admin's Note:
~She might but I think we need haste here. She looks tired and that isn't good for a wound. It means the patient lost too much blood. At least, that is how it is with runners. I suppose blood-loss is similiar with humans.~
Very well.
G'han nodded at the signal. ~Gerenanth speed up. We need to go faster~, he said to the bronze.
I have no problem with that. The dragon enjoyed stretching out his wings and showing off a little speed.
~Show off. A girl is wounded and you think nothing but of having some fun~, he replied to the dragon.
I don't think only of having fun, loosen up some. Try and have some fun too. What good does it do to be all serious and worried. That won't help her. Gerenanth gave a dragonic grin and cut a flip while flying.
"Gerenanth!!!", G'han said in suprise at the dragon. He seemed to be in a good and playful mood today. Gerenanth flew up beside Mneith and the others after having a bit of fun with his rider.
~Faster Ebbeth.~ Akki said to her blue as she caught the signal from Christae. You are not used to flying, I do not want to see you sick Ebbeth said, staying at his same speed. ~It's not always about me though love. I can handle it, or at least I have too. Don't worry~ She said, soothing him. Ebbeth didn't really want to do it, he knew that she wasn't used to flying but he did it anyways, after all everyone else was and he didn't want to be left behind.
Christae's words were comforting, her fashion motherly. Wolf had a hard time remembering what her own mother was like... only bits and pieces ever came to her. Wolf went to reply but her eyelids had finally closed for the last time, unable to stop herself from falling in to a slumber...
A dream caused her body to tremble, a dream that often reoccured... { "Will we ever see each other again?" Wolf asked, looking to the blond-haired boy beside her. "I'm not sure," he replied, frowning as he looked to the vast ocean before him. "You promised I'd be safe..." Wolf said , braking the silence. "Aren't you?" the boy asked, looking over to her, his eyes of blue full of undying hope. "Yes, but, are you?" Wolf asked back. The boy arose, grabbing Wolf's hand as he ran to the water-side. He soon released her hand, they both laughing as he splashed her with water.
Dragonmen entered from the forest brush, their dragons flying overhead. The boy looked to her, pain and sorrow held deep within' his eyes, though he did his best not to show it as he touched her shoulder affectionately. "Its time," he said as he began to fade from sight. Her gaze quickly diverted from him to the dragonmen. "Time for what?" she asked, her voice beginning to crack as tears stung her eyes. "Its time," he repeated. "Time for what?" she yelled, watching as his image disappeared completely, as if it was never there. The dragons landed, they all in an assortment of colors. The Bronze dragon landed closest to her, the dragonman approaching her appearing to be the Wingleader of the group. The dragonman patted the neck of his Bronze, his gaze up on her stern. "What are you doing here? Go to the candidate barracks!" he yelled, clenching his teeth. "Why is it that you never listen, your more trouble then your worth!" He roughly grabbed her arm, nearly dragging her to the Bronze as he hauled her up on to its mighty form. "But he promised he'd be here, I can't leave him here alone!" she yelled back. ( The girl was a younger form of herself, appearing to be of about 10 turns old.) "If you keep talking like that don't expect to qualify for any hatching!" the dragonman said while mounting his dragon, the younger Wolf seated in front of him. "I don't care, I don't! He's all that matters to me! No!" she yelled aloud, "don't leave me again!" ...}
