Name: Vailea
Age: 21
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Rank: Journeywoman Healer
Appearance: Unfortunatly for Vailea, she hails from a short family. Though she'd really like to be taller, Vailea will only ever be 5'2''. Refuses to have shorter hair, because all other times have been against her will. Though thick and difficult to manage, she deal with her hair which is slightly lower than mid back. Hair colour is both brown and blonde, creating the ' dirty blonde ' hair colour. Though mostly brown, but the blonde is still evident. Decent sized chest, but is more bottom heavy, thus having a definate hourglass look. green eyes, and light skin, thick fingernails. Her face is a bit roundish, giving her the appearance of being younger than she is. ..If you look at her face first, and not the rest of her. Not much in the way of upper body strengh, most of her muscle lies in her lower back and in her legs.
Personality: For the greatest portion of the time, she's quiet and keeps to herself. She's friendly, but shy to a silly level. Usually in a figurative shell. If you manage to coax her out, and get to know the girl, you'd find her to be surprisingly sweet and altruistic. Thinking of others, before even begining to think of herself. She lives for others. If it were possible, she'd give birth to a child for a friend. Talented at what she strives to do, Vailea can prove to be a hard worker, even when sometimes appearing to merely go with the flow of life. Tries not to stress too much. Vailea can sometimes have her moments of wit. Seemingly lacks the will for permemant anger. [ She's an enigma wrapped in awesomeness. ]
History: Born into a decent sized family, of three brothers, Vailea, if not for her Mother; would have grown up in a sea of testosterone. She had three brothers, though only briefly grew up with her two eldest, before they were off on their own, making families. Thus, it was only her, her third brother, Mother and Father. Vailea's Father was adept at handling beasts of all kinds, and taught his children what he could, whether they liked it or not. Though Vailea treasured her time with the animals, especially seeing as how animals were here first friends. Vailea's Mother, who was a kind and very patient woman, was ahealer of sorts, and also learned her craft. She took to her mother's craft the most, seeing as how she could help both people and animals.
As she aged, Vailea came under fire of the opposite gender. This came in the form of her Father, insulting her, or the neighborhood boys. They quite enjoyed picking on her. Shoving, spitting on her, stealing her things. During the teenage years, they even made a game of confessing false feelings to Vailea, and then taking it back. Listing off ways the girl was ugly and would forever be alone. She came to regret having older parents. They developed illnesses that she could not help much with, and soon passed. Not wanting to impose upon the rest of her family, Vailea took to wandering. Going from place to place, trying to perfert the healing craft taught to her by her now deceased Mother. At one place. Once, as a thank you for her services, a family had let her be present at a flitt hatching. There she impressed a Blue, who took quite the liking to Vailea, particularly loving to lay across her shoulders. The little one has been with her since, and the short Healer cherishes the company.
This same family told her they were moving to a more secure area, and invite her to come along with them. It was a awfully nice offer, and Vailea decided to head off to Igen with them. It was nice traveling with others, instead of by herself. although, it was a little bittersweet being around folks that treated her like their own daughter. It only reminded her of the parents that she'd lost.
Once there, it was intimidating. More for the fact that it was a brand new place that would take some time to get used to. But, that's fine. Everyone is new to something in their lives, at one point or another. It would take some time, indeed, but it didn't take too long for time to start speeding by. It was at that point that the Hold seemed like home to her. That was a revelation that gave the short girl warm fuzzies. She'd made a few friends, and some acquaintances. It almost seemed too soon when Vailea had overheard another newcomer. A cook, no less. You hear a lot when you're fixing people up.
Now, the height challenged Healer was a friendly girl. She thought it'd be a nice thing to welcome the newbie, perhaps be friends. It's always nice to have friends when you're new somewhere. ...Also helps lessen the chance of getting lost.
However, when Vailea ventured into the kitchens to greet the new cook.. she didn't quite expect to get smitten with him. Or at least, not as fast. Oh, how she was embarressed about that. Over time, she managed to get over her shyness as Vailea did become friends with the newcomer. His name was Viktu. He was quite friendly as well, and certainly funny. If he ever caught himself under his own knife, Viktu would see Vailea to patch him up. Ironically enough, these sorts of antics managed to bring them closer. ..The delicious food that Viktu would make for Vailea, might've also helped, too. It was a little odd, at first. When they finally, officially got together. Vailea never expected to ever have somebody to love. She'd always been picked on and had a low self-esteem, though it got better with her Vikkers around. ..A little bit, anyway.
The last piece of her puzzle got put in place. It truly felt nice. There were many things about the cook that she'd liked. His height was perfect for snuggling, because Viktu could also act as a blanket. It was also rather nice whenever the brunettes' cycle came by, to cripple her. Viktu would be right there for her, carrying her where she needed to go and of course spoiling his girl with treats and food. Yes, he was really thoughtful, always putting Vailea's happiness before his own. Even when a certain ' first ' came around, Viktu was adorably awkward.
Unfortunately, all good things come to an end, don't they?
It came in the form of some good news, for Viktu, at least. A Weyr that was dear to his heart gave rumors of life to it, and he just had to go and see if these whisperiings were true. Vailea, though utterly heartbroken, understood and didn't bear any ill will towards his decision to leave. She had even helped Viktu pack his things, though she tried to not cry infront him. Failing horribly, several times.
And when he was finally gone, Vailea couldn't keep her mind on tasks, not even common ones. In a short time, she found the Hold to be.. unbearable. It was painful to be someplace where a love had flourished but ended. In her mopey lethargy, a few thoughts came to mind. One of which, was simply leaving to go elsewhere. Anywhere. The other, which appealed to her heart, for than her mind, was to follow in Viktu's steps and go to that rebuilding Weyr. But, she only had a vague understanding of where it was.
It's a miracle what some asking around can accomplish though, isn't it?
After getting the information she'd needed, Vailea set out with things. She didn't care how long it took, but she was determined to get to her destination. It felt like eternity, but Vailea finally managed to get to Dark Moon Weyr. The place certainly had looked like it was rebuilding itself, but there also seemed to be quite a good handful of people giving it life. They must've been previous occupants to the Weyr.
Before even doing anything else, Vailea sought out the Kitchens, in the hopes of seeing her giant of a culinarian. It'd be a blatant lie if Vailea said she wasn't depressed not seeing him there. But it didn't get her too down, she'd remembered that he'd frequently nap outdoors. Which wasn't a bad idea, honestly. Short legs carried her out of the kichen and wandered around outdoors. all the walking was starting to hurt her hips, so, it was more like hobbling. But despite any pain she'd been feeling, once she'd laid eyes on a familiar sleeping form in the grass, Vailea was off like a shot.
She basically launched herself at Viktu, flomping down hard on him, immediately climbing to the cook. It was a heartwarming moment, since there was no other way he could've slept through that. A pleasant surprise, when it turned out to be the girl he'd had to leave behind.
But he was caught off guard by the news that Vailea dropped, while stuttering through happy tears.
" By the way.. I'm pregnant. "
