Character:
Name: Zuhayr
Male Abridge: Z’ayr (Z-air)
Gender: Male
Rank: Bluerider
Age: Currently twenty three turns
Sexuality: Oh so fabulously homo~
Appearance:
To be perfectly honest, Z’ayr isn’t a bad looking guy but sorry ladies, he’s off limits. He’s rather tall, standing at a decent 5’11 and still manages to be the shortest one in his family excluding his mother. He’s fairly slim, not exactly scrawny but certainly not one to be winning any muscle awards any time soon and his height accentuates this fact. This isn’t to say that Z’ayr is a weak fellow; after Turns of hitting on the most heterosexual (And probably homophobic) guys, he’s learned how to prevent how to get his bottom kicked. While not exactly strong, the kid is quick on his feet and can get in a few decent punches before managing a quick getaway. He’d rather not risk any bruises on his face, you see.
His hair is shorter but still manages to be shaggy at the same time. Despite the fact that the longest bit reaches the bottom of his ears, strands of hair find themselves going in multiple directions. His hair is a dirty blonde but if he stays outside long enough, then bits and pieces will become significantly lighter. He doesn’t spend too much time outside though (Faranth forbid a sunburn ever occurred) but he spends enough to get a slight tan before retreating back inside.
Z’ayr’s eyes are a nice, simple hazel color. His nose is slightly crooked from a childhood accident; he likes to think it gives him a certain charm but really he just wants to pretend that it isn’t just plain crooked. Under his right eye and the top of his lip are two small scars, courtesy of a flit who didn’t appreciate him.
The boy is very fashionable, always making sure his clothes color co-ordinate with one and other. If you ever see the lad looking slightly dishevelled or wearing something mismatched then you know that it must have been one rough day for him. He has no problem with adding color into his wardrobe but he does hold a certain affinity for the classic attire of black and whites. He likes the darker colors but will throw in a light blue shirt here and there to spice things up.
Personality:
Overly optimistic? Extravagant? Flamboyant? Oh yes, those all described Z’ayr absolutely perfectly. The boy was almost painfully flashy and that suited him just fine – he was content with who he was as a person and had no intentions of changing any time soon. He very quickly accepted his sexuality and has no problem with people knowing it. He flirts with everyone; straight boys, gay boys, girls, and girls who like girls. It didn’t particularly matter, flirting with people was simply fun, you see. Unfortunately, he is rather incapable of flirting with the person he actually likes – often acting socially awkward around them as he chews on the inside of his cheek.
He’s certainly a touchy-feely fellow. He gives hugs to people who want them and those who don’t. Once upon a time he was a shy kid but that attitude was quickly shed when he came out. Why be shy when you could hit on people? Much more entertaining. As said before, the boy isn’t necessarily a fighter. When it comes to fight or flight, he much rather flee if it’s possible. His isn’t one about violence for silly reasons; he doesn’t see too much point in it. He’s also not one for being bashful, as if that wasn’t obvious enough.
Z’ayr is a person who likes organization and dislikes clutter, dirty, anything such as that. Clean and orderly is ideal while a spot of dirt on his clothes is enough to annoy him for the rest of the day. His appearance was everything; he’s not narcissistic but looking half decent was the thing that kept his self-esteem boosted. He has an extreme fear of firelizards, freezing up whenever one is near him due to a ‘traumatic’ childhood experience where one of the critters seemingly disliked him and constantly screeched and clawed whenever he drew near. He now distrusts all flitters because of it, convinced that they will all attack him.
It’s safe to say that in general, when he’s looking well put together, that the boy has a decent amount of confidence. It’s hard to get him down (Okay, not too hard. Just say his outfit is ugly), he tends to bounce back pretty quick. Shooting down his advances? No problem, there’s another person across the room just waiting to be hit on.
History:
The boy comes from Hatra Hold, a larger fishing company that in fact tithes to Dark Moon. He led a relatively normal childhood, his father, Ayrank, and older brother, Hathin, were both fishers and his mother often sewed up clothes for the people that lived with them in the hold. It was not an overly thrilling life and certainly not an extravagant but it suited the family of four quite nicely.
For a fair number of Turns, Z’ayr was rather shy and often kept to himself – preferring to stay quietly holed up with his mother than off with the other kids. His mother often questioned why her son was so introverted but kept quiet, not wanting to pressure him into anything. However, it all changed when Z’ayr realized that he was attracted to men. Perhaps realization was not the proper word, for a part of him had simply always known – he just chose to ignore it for as long as possible. Finally though, he couldn’t deny it any longer and had no choice but to admit it to his family, fully expecting them to be disgusted with him. Instead Zurahli, his mother, clapped him on the back and told him to find a man who would make him very happy; it would be better than to see him all by his lonesome in his room. His dad wasn’t fully sure how to react to the situation, but accepted soon enough and admitted that he was originally expecting Zuhayr to tell them that he had gotten a girl pregnant when they were told that their son had an announcement to make. Ayrank was rather content that this was not the case and that his son just liked guys.
His brother accepted the news the best out of their family; he immediately tried to convince his sibling that the first word that had come out of his mouth was ‘Fab’.
When Zuhayr realized that his family didn’t care what gender he liked, only that he would be happy, he became more outgoing and transformed into the chatty being he was today. He didn’t feel any pressure or stress to go out and flirt with girls or play any type of charade. He soon found himself with a handful of girl friends, who trusted him quite a bit because they knew he wasn’t going to try anything, and even a fair amount of the guys admitted they liked the new Zuhayr better. After two turns of being the improved Zuhayr, a dragon rider came and searched the fishing hold. The green dragon rider requested that he went to Dark Moon for the next hatching, and all though he was sad to leave his friends and family behind, he saw it as a new adventure. He gathered his stuff, and in fact went along to the Weyr. Besides, maybe there was some cute guys for him there he couldn’t help but think
It was here that he Impressed to his dragon counterpart; the oh so sassy Dinayth. The two are a match made in heaven, despite their constant bickering over what Z’ayr was wearing that day. They loved every moment at Dark Moon. People were generally used to his flirting antics and Dinayth’s snarky remarks. There was no need to pretend to be something they were not. Dark Moon was a close knit group and Z’ayr loved it.
So when the Weyr seemed to come to an end and all riders had to transfer? It killed him. The bluerider and dragon went to a fair number of Weyrs and quickly learned that not everyone was as tolerant as Dark Moon. Dinayth’s remarks weren’t answered with a roll of the eyes, but with harsh words instead. The blue dragon constantly was head butting with other, higher ranking dragons and just generally cause trouble. He wouldn’t watch his mouth for anyone and he had no problem with hiding that. Z’ayr found himself with quite a handful of enemies due to his dragon’s attitude but he wouldn’t control Dinayth. Or maybe it was that he couldn’t – the dragon was known for doing what he wanted.
As soon as Dinayth was informed of Dark Moon’s revival, he was quickly snatching up his rider and heading on out.
He was tired of these boring, stiff dragons.
Z’ayr agreed.
Fun facts: Z'ayr is petrified of flitts. Ever since being attacked by one as a child, he does his very best to avoid the creatures and distrusts them completely. He generally thinks they are up to no good and simply waiting to attack. And unfortunately for him...he owns one.
Pets: A dainty but rather demanding gold flitt Aesa.

Dragon:
Blue Dinayth
Dragon Appearance:
While Dinayth is a perfect medium, he lacks the same muscled build that many dragons have. He’s almost dainty looking, svelte. He’s not the strongest dragon out there but he’s rather flexible and speedy since his mass is somewhat low. At a first glance, his hide almost looks black but it is just a darker blue. In a startling contrast, the membranes of his wings are an icy blue; standing out vibrantly against his dark colored hide. The same bright blue can be found on the tip of his tail. He isn’t the most handsome (Or masculine) dragon but in his eyes, he is perfection.
Dragon personality:
Dinayth and Z’ayr were quite alike. Dinayth highly dislikes dirt or clutter of any kind, and was almost as flamboyant as his rider if that was even possible. His personality was almost like a Golds; he was vain and expected things to be done his way, for there was no other way. He has a sharp tongue, a quick wit, and an overwhelming amount of pride. If Dinayth disagreed with the way something was being done, he had absolutely no problem with pointing it out. It was almost guaranteed that the blue was going to butt heads with the other dragons. He was extraordinarily blunt and never felt the need to hold back his words.
All though he is rather snarky towards his rider, Dinayth will easily become a vicious, snarling dragon in order to protect His. The boy had saved Dinayth many times growing up, making sure no harm fell to the blue and Dinayth was willing to repay the favour if it was ever needed. He was the only one who could make demeaning remarks about Z’ayr’s outfit, no one else could.
Dinayth doesn’t seem to hold much interest towards female dragons. He may not have met the right one yet or he’s too narcissistic to fall for anyone who isn’t exactly like him, it’s not entirely clearly just of yet. He has no problem with befriending other dragons, if they can put up with him and his high maintenance needs, but it doesn’t really go beyond that.
