Character:
Name: Akkivahna (Ack-Ee-Vaw-Na)
Goes by: Akki
Gender: Female
Age: Currently 26 Turns
Orientation: Pansexual
Rank: Wingrider
Physical Description:
Before coming to Dark Moon Weyr, Akki was a ‘shrimp’. She was often teased about her short stature, especially when she was a child when she had a slight weight problem. She was that short, roly poly kid that everyone made fun of. Thankfully, a turn before arriving to the Weyr, she grew ten inches and was a comfortable 5’9.
If you wanted a simple color for her hair, it would be blonde. However, it wasn’t just blonde. It was a mixture of gold, silver and brown – fun but rather odd to look at it closely. Her hair is long, down past her shoulder blades, despite the fact that riders should have shorter hair. There was something about shorter hair that…scared her, almost. She liked having it swished around her when she shook her head and loved having it splay out whenever she flopped onto the ground. Akki’s hair is normally straight but if she works her fingers the right way when it’s damp she can curl it slightly, though it doesn’t last for too long.
She’s neither skinny, nor large but in the middle and she didn’t mind that she was like that and just claimed that there was simply just more of her to love. This bluerider was all about body positivity. Why be sad with the body you have? You couldn’t really swap with anyone so she thought that you should love yourself for what you are. This was probably why she shelled out compliments to everyone and anyone.
The girl spends a fair amount of time outside, mostly when she is trying to run away from duties as a rider. Because of this, her skin does have a slight tan to it (Rukbat’s rays also help lighten her hair, which explains the coloring). She isn’t anything overly special to look at, really. Her eyes are blue, her nose is average and she has definite laugh lines when she smiles.
And boy, did she smile. It was rare that you would see Akki without a smile accompanying her face. The girl was always laughing or making a bad joke; seeing her without her smile was blasphemous. She was known for her crooked smile; the thin lips with the left corner curled upwards. It always meant she was up to something – whether it be good or bad.
Personality:
One word to sum up this girls personality? Quirky. Her logic wasn’t quite like a normal person’s, and her imagination was far too wild. She believes that laughter is infectious and can cheer anyone up so you can often hear her laughter echoing through the halls of the Weyr, or her loud voice cracking bad jokes that only she finds funny. She doesn’t care too much what people think about her, she figures that you can’t go through life without having a few enemies. You can’t live life trying to please everyone around you, right? She’s very outgoing and is always up for an adventure, which might be why she constantly is getting into trouble. Not so much now, but when she was a candidate she was normally being scolded for something.
Once she considers you as a friend, you are stuck with her for the rest of your life whether you want to be or not. She hates this concept of people fading in and out of each other’s lives; she didn’t want to ever just be a memory for someone so don’t try to get rid of her. You can’t insult her (She’ll take them in a stride) and you can’t creep her out (She’ll take it as a challenge). Once you were friends with her, you better get used to it. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, unless you really didn’t like, for she is loyal to her friends and will always do her best to cheer you up. Her happy-go-lucky attitude can get on peoples nerves, but she never seems to notice. She always too caught up in her positive outlook to think anything negative about anyone or anything. Or rather, for the most part. Hey, she is human after all.
She will always be an interesting girl, with her annoyingly bright personality. She’s afraid to grow up, afraid of the gray hairs that will come with it, but knows that even when she is eighty Turns she will still be out looking for adventures. Akki is a hard girl to tie down; so far no one has managed to do so for long but it isn’t impossible to do so. Eventually the bluerider wouldn’t mind a steady relationship but first, she needs to find someone who can keep up with her and that is apparently harder than expected.
Akki doesn’t mind though – she has Ebbeth and Sargon by her side. The trio will stick with each other until the very end; a significant other would just be an added special. The girl is starting to accept the fact that she is getting older, she can’t deny it much longer. Perhaps this meant she would be more conscientious of people looking for something more significant with her. Or perhaps not.
Or perhaps she would just frighten them off.
The biggest flaw in Akki’s personality is her curiosity. She can’t control it; it overwhelms and consumes her – forcing her to act on it. It’s definitely a big reason as to why she often got in trouble. There was also the fact that she never knew when to stop, she could never figure out when enough was enough. She pushed boundaries, tested every limitation out there and seemed to break the majority of them.
History:
Akki was born in a relatively isolated and unknown Hold. Derth was almost forgettable, it size was so small, but because of that everyone knew everyone – it was like one large family. She lived with her family which consisted of her mother, her father and her older brother. Growing up, she was generally content with the life she had there, her brother and her often had fun and at that time her father was a happy man. The children of Derth all got along and it was easy to find someone to play with – it was ideal in Akki’s eyes.
However when Akki was eight turns old, her mother developed an illness which she kept a secret until it got worse and worse. The woman didn’t want to burden her daughter with the sad news, so she made sure that it was never brought up in her presence. Maybe it was selfish of her – not wanting to see her daughters sad expression even though she fully knew that Akki would be devastated when her mom passed away ‘out of the blue’.
Which was exactly what happened. Before Akki’s ninth turn, the woman took a turn for the worse and passed away silently in her sleep. Her brother and father knew it would happen sooner or later but not Akki.
The girl was in shock for she didn’t know that their mother was that ill. It seemed impossible to concept the fact that she would never hear her mom’s loud cackle again. Over the next while, she slowly grew accustomed to it (Though she still didn’t fully accept it). Her brother and her started laughing again, having fun. But her father basically became crazed; yelling at them for laughing, joking around and such even though turns had passed since her death. The man was convinced that if his wife could no longer have fun and laugh, then their children didn’t deserve that right either. It was a twisted vision but no one could convince him otherwise, he was too far gone in his everlasting grief.
Akki wished she could get away from the hold, from her dad’s yelling and screaming but her brother beat her to it. He was searched, and Impressed a lovely bronze named Waeith, only returning to the Hold once.Turns later, her wish came true and she was searched. However, a bit before she was searched, a flitt’s clutch hatched and soon a flitt named Sargon joined Akki. And not soon enough, she was finally taken away from Derth and Impressed at Dark Moon Weyr to Ebbeth, her mute blue. She has not returned to Derth Hold and honestly has no intentions of doing so.
Life at Dark Moon was perfection in her eyes. She befriended as many people as she could and forced the Weyr to acknowledge her presence, more or less. Eventually her brother came to search for her and the man ended up transferring to Dark Moon. It is safe to say that Akki believes that Dark Moon was made for her and vice versa. The Weyr was her home for the longest time; she couldn’t imagine staying anywhere else.
But then, there was no choice. The Weyr had fallen apart and everyone was forced to transfer. It killed her, there was no doubt about that. Every day she mourned for Dark Moon, wishing to go back. She didn’t belong anywhere else and everyone knew it – people from other Weyrs thought she was strange and that her mute dragon was even more queer than she. The bluerider was growing to resent people as a whole, something she had never experienced before and truthfully, it frightened her. Society was ruining her optimisim, it was killing her slowly. So when she heard that Dark Moon was being revived?
Oh, honey. You better get out of the way or she was going to mow you down in a rush to get there.
Pets: A light, soft green flitt named Sargon who is male despite his color
Family: Father (Vahnn), Mother (Akaiana) and her brother (V’ian)
Dragon:
Mute Blue Ebbeth
DOH: July 3, 2005
Appearance: Ebbeth is a bit bigger than your average dragon, but he is not the largest dragon that is for sure. He has a decent amount of muscle to his body but for the most part was considered lithe. He was rather agile because of this, easily being able to control his maneuvers in the air. His hide, for the most part, is a dark blue – often compared to the depths of Lake Tyruru. His underbelly is a lighter and softer blue, and there is a grayblue stripe that runs down his tail. The same color can be found on the outer edges of his wings.
Personality: Ebbeth is like Akki. He’s outgoing, fun and is easy to please. He’ll tease Akki about many things, but he’ll never let anything happen to her – if you tried to threaten the girl, his jaws would be snapping angrily. He can be serious when it is needed, but until then he just wants to relax and enjoy life. He brags, but he never really means it and he taunts other dragons but only in a playful manner, conning them into doing races and such. He’s a loyal beast, and will never turn his back on his rider and her friends. Akki relies on Ebbeth to be one of the walls that holds her life together and loves the blue blob though she’ll deny it if he asks. Of course, Ebbeth relies on her for the same thing but he too will deny such a thing.
