Name: Christae
Age: 23 Turns
Gender: Female
Rank: Senior Weyrwoman
Appearance: Christae stands at an average 5’8. Her lanky rider body is tempered by the curves that accompanied motherhood. Her breasts are full but not overly large and her waist has a gentle curve. She is not overly long in the leg or arm, just proportionate. Warm brown eyes are set in a face that is not beautiful by any standards. Her beauty lies in her caring personality. She has a slightly rounded face and a stubborn chin. Her nose fits her face. Her face is pretty in a plain sort of way. Crows feet are barely visible on the corner of each eye from both laughter and worry. Faint lines around her mouth are there for the same reason.
Her hair is a sun-streaked light brown with a gentle wave to it. She often wears it in a short runner tail at the base of her neck and it is cropped to her shoulders to keep it out of the way when she is riding her Queen or dealing with Weyr business. Her skin is about a medium tone, not fair, but not tanned. She usually wears wher-hide breeches that are tailored to fit and a loose-fitting tunic along with her riding boots. When she knows she will not be riding her Queen she often switches to looser, cotton pants and sandals.
Personality: Christae is fair, even though it kills her. Even though she doesn’t like a person, she will always put aside her animosity and deal fairly with that person, not that she dislikes many. She can best be described as warm and motherly, but with a core of steel underneath. Christae loves to joke and be lighthearted but the weight of her post lies heavily on her young shoulders. She is mature beyond her Turns and the carefree nature she once has as a maiden is all but hidden by the mantle of responsibility that she carries.
She is a hard worker, and rarely emotional. She takes fierce pride in her home and the work that she has done to keep it alive but she is not conceited. She loves to dance and have fun with her people but it seldom happens. She is a very organized person with a fairly even temper. Her passion shows itself when she dances at a Gather or when someone threatens the peace of her weyr.
Christae has a tendency to overwork herself. She has been through many hardships in her young life and she has had to build her home back up from the ground several times. Thus she has a fear of delegating responsibility. She often feels that if she doesn’t do it herself, it won’t get done. This is not out of conceit, but from the events that happened in her past. She is a very loving mother to her son but she carefully guards her heart after the beating it took when her first Weyrleader abandoned the Weyr and kidnapped their son from her while she watched the hatching of their dragons’ children. Sometimes she is too guarded and she seldom lets people see the gentle, loving person that she is. She puts on a brave front at all times even when she is exhausted and scared. She is often exasperated by some of the unruly members of the Weyr but she has learned to handle that with poise. Few have seen her lose her temper but those who have do not want to see it again.
History: When she transferred to Dark Moon from a small hold beholden to Ista Hold on the island, Christae expected to Impress a green. She never expected to see the giant, gleaming golden egg hatch out one of the largest Queens Pern had seen in Turns. She definitely did not expect that Queen to come to her and beg for her to feed her. The Old Weyrwoman had passed away days before the clutch hatched and the Old Queen passed *between* as soon as her hatchling Queen daughter Impressed. The older riders stayed to help the young ones learn but one by one they passed away. The Weyr had been settled by older riders and they had met such hardships in establishing the Weyr that it took a toll on them and their dragons. The new clutch was the only hope for the weyr. The young Weyrwoman, had to deal with learning to be a dragonrider as well as running the entire Weyr.
Christae and her fellow Weyrlings worked hard to make the weyr prosper. The young WW took her duties very seriously thought it was often hard for her to get respect from older Weryleaders. Kaith grew to be a larger dragon than any could imagine and her first clutch yielded a Queen. Christae and the young Jr. WW were not so far in age and the two often butted heads. Just when the pair were beginning to get along, the girl was forced to transfer to another weyr due to health problems that prevented her from staying in the Southern Continent. Renegades attacked the weyr and injured several of the riders, including Rhia, one of Christae’s close friends, but still the Weyr managed to bounce back.
Everyone wondered at the strange colors that kept emerging from her Queen’s eggs but all of the dragonets seemed healthy. When an egg was stolen from her beloved Queen’s clutch, Christae had to deal with chaos. Suspicion was rife in the Weyr and her Queen was unmanageable. She convinced her Queen to allow the Candidates in for the Touching but the Queen had to survey the Candidates one by one. She had to deal with the return of the egg and the Impression of the thief to a mutated color.
During the Hatching of Kaith’s second clutch, Christae’s weyrmate and co leader of the Weyr, Sh’iron of bronze Myrnanenth and father of her son Chiron, left the weyr, taking their son with him back to Benden. He told Christae that the weyr was too small. The mating flight of Benden’s senior Queen was coming up and he hoped that his large bronze would catch her. Christae was devastated. She managed to get her son back with the help of the Harpers and she never let anyone see her break down. Her weyr managed to bounce back from this. Her new Jr. WW Wolf and her Queen Serinth were as different from Maiya and Reinath as night and day. Kaith’s third and most recent clutch was healthy. However, the WW no longer has a Weryleader. N’kal of bronze Azuth also left the Weyr, unable to handle the responsibility. Chrisate is running a Weyr that is preparing for Thread, all the signs point to it, and she is running it alone.
Dragon: Senior Queen Kaith
Age: 4 Turns
Dragon Appearance: Kaith is a regal looking dragon, even at her hatching she was a proud, regal Queen. Her hide is a bright, yellow gold with a slightly lighter underbelly. Her wings touch either side of the Hatching Cavern entrance due to their massive size. Her wedge-shaped head has a proud look to it. Her rider often teases her about the work that is involved in keeping her massive body cleaned and oiled. She is easily the largest dragon on Pern. She is only a dragonlength smaller than the famous Queen Ramoth.
Dragon Personality: Kaith is protective to the extreme. She is highly possessive over the dragons in her weyr, whether they are her offspring or transfer riders. She has a soft spot for her fellow clutch mates Mneith and Ebbeth and their riders but she is possessively motherly over all in her domain. She is more protective than most Queens over her clutch and she includes her weyrmate’s “hatchling” in that protectiveness. Kaith is a rather moody dragon during her mating cycle and she can often be quite the grouch. She dislikes insubordination and has more of a temper than her rider does. Her rider’s calmness balances her Queen’s fierce personality. Despite her temper, she is usually motherly and she often tells on any rider or dragon who is hurt or sick that does not want to go to a Healer.
