Welcome to Evergen. Set in early Eighth-pass Pern, the Weyr itself is set into coastal mountains, merely wingbeats from their closest beholden Hold, Carcara, nestled on the ocean. Lake Marana makes up much of the Weyrbowl, a popular fishing and bathing spot for the dragons and riders. A Central Pillar with spirals of riders' weyrs rises up in the (you guessed it!) middle, with weyrs also lining the edges of the volcanic walls. The Hatching Grounds, warm as ever, have hosted 18 Clutches in their forum lifetime. You might see a sprinkling of candidates here, a group of practicing weyrlings there--with fully decked, totally serious Wing riders gallivanting above, practicing to combat their ancient menace. There are many, many Turns left before Lessa will make her spectacular ride back in time to retrieve the Weyrs, so our riders are safe for now in their pseudo-paradise. A drought has come and gone, earthshakes have dully shaken these rocky confines...and the dragonriders persist, with Weyrwoman Enyssa of Gold Serimoth and Weyrleader C'lix of Bronze Teirokyth in charge.
Evergen Weyr is a semi-canon Pern roleplay forum. What we mean by semi-canon is we stick to Anne's rules, with the teensiest of exceptions. We've got a lot of female riders and crafters, not to mention--two completely original dragon colors, not found in the series. The mischievous and flirty Ebonies, around the same size as bronze dragons, and the elegant and maternal Peridots, slightly smaller than greens yet fertile--meaning they are Thread-fighting egg layers. Besides the obvious exceptions, we'd like to be proud of our canon status--something which has earned us a place on Anne's list on her website of fanfiction roleplays. We were added to this list two years ago, in April of 2008.
We've been around since January of 2007, and are still going strong. Our next and 19th Hatching is planned for December 3rd, which means a Gold dragon will be rising near the end of October. A Gather will take place on the 15th of January, with games and shops for all players. A plot is in the works that will (hopefully) knock your socks off.
At Evergen, we pride ourselves on being a friendly, open community. We've got a Cbox (as most forum roleplays do these days), with silly looking emoticons that we all love to make fun of (including a cricket, mud kip, and drama llama!) an OOC chat forum with lots of players advertising for people to post with them and creating silly polls about whether or not to buy a sandwich shaped cake mold (that would be me, tehe). Everyone is generally willing to roleplay with anyone else, and the staff works hard to make it a fun, happening atmosphere.
So come join us! We'd love to have you and your writing, your imagination, your creativity...and hopefully, your ability to accept our sometimes cliched yet genuine friendship.
