Name: T’Laye
Age: 36 Turns
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Rank: Candidate Master
Appearance: T’Laye stands at an imposing 6 foot 7 inches tall and this is made even more so by his 260 pounds of mostly muscle. His skin is a nicely tanned golden brown from many hours spent out-doors.
He has shoulder length dirty blonde hair that is, usually, rather unkempt. During gatherings or other special occasions he tidies his hair and pulls it back in a respectable Runner-tail. This all frames an almond shaped face that has a scar running from his right temple and ending on his left jaw. He tells people he got it during a fire one night but what he fails to mention is that he got it when he was very young, and it was caused when a startled Runner kicked him in the face due to his lack of caution.
His face houses a pair of light blue/grey eyes that are bordered by many a wrinkle giving the impression of being far older then he really is. His nose is short, stubby, and flat, from said runner when it kicked him. His mouth has even more wrinkles around it then his eyes do, but this is caused mainly from the fact that he has an almost permanent smile.
He wears a pair of light brown hide pants and a matching sleeveless shirt. When he rides his Brown dragon, Barzeth, he wears standard rider attire which consists of Wherhide pants, Wherhide shirts, Wherhide boots, Wherhide gloves, and a heavy Wherhide jacket, all well insulated against the cold of Between.
Personality: T’Laye, despite his appearance, is actually a rather happy-go-lucky and fun loving person. He has a great love of the people he protects and will fight to save them to the bitter end. He is the kind of person people naturally feel drawn to and as such is usually sought out by others when they have issues or need advice.
While he may be happy-go-lucky he is also relatively down to earth and is pretty good at helping others with his words of wisdom. Unfortunately for some people T’Laye has the uncanny ability to offer advice to those who neither want nor appreciate it and when he sees this he can turn a bit on the grumpy side because he feels others should follow his advice whether they like it or not.
Another thing that tends to bother him is the feeling of being stagnant, either mentally or physically. His temper can be, and usually is, rather short when he believes those around him are willingly allowing themselves to become stagnant. To combat this T’Laye has developed several methods of action based on the style of stagnation. For example if he sees someone who is stagnating physically he feels it is his job to push them to greater and harder heights to do physical labor. Mental stagnation is combated with various quizzes and questions designed to cause the unfortunate target to have to think and grow mentally. His belief is a healthy body and a quick mind makes a better person.
For all those annoying tendencies he really is a good person who is generally accepted amongst his pears and subordinates. One other thing that can tend to be a con is he can be a bit of a flirt when it comes to members of the female gender. Although this is , usually, harmless play on his part some can, and sometimes do, take offense to this.
History: Born in Ista Weyr T’Laye started life as a Kitchen worker. Both his parents, now deceased, ran the kitchen with iron fists. Although he actually enjoyed the life working in the kitchens the young boy had dreams far bigger than working in a kitchen. He dreamed of becoming a dragon-rider.
When he reached the age of 12 he finally got his chance. As he was cleaning one of the pots one afternoon when a dragon rider came in and selected him to be a candidate. His parents where extremely happy and proud and he left within the hour.
The next two years were spent learning everything there was to know about dragons and their ways until finally he was lucky enough to impress a brown dragon named Barzeth at the age of 14.
He spent many a year flying on Barzeth doing menial tasks such as ferrying people from one hold to another and other general tasks. There were also times when he would do things such as search and rescue when a member of a hold went missing.
When he hit the age of 30 he was out on a routine search of the beach area several days journey from Ista when he came across a hatching Flitter clutch. He impressed a Bronze Flitter he named Flash for its desire to always be the center of attention.
When he turned 31 he was appointed the position of Candidate Master and moved to Dark moon Weyr. He has since made himself a nice home there and enjoys the life he lives, even if it can be a bit boring at times.
Pets: Flash
Age: 6 turns
Appearance: Flash is a Bronze Flitter. He stretches approximately 18 inches in length and stands 2 feet tall. Most of his coloring is a light bronze color except for his wings which are a dark bronze color.
Personality: Flash is, as his name says, a flashy personality. He loves being the center of attention and will shriek and scratch T’Laye when he wants attention.
Dragon: Brown Dragon
Name: Barzeth
Age: 22 turns
Gender: Male
Dragon Appearance: Barzeth comes in at a length of 32 feet with a wingspan of 53 feet. For the most part he is a perfect brown color through most of his body. The only noticeable difference, though, is his head and the undersides of his wings. His head is several shades darker than the rest of him, more of Auburn then anything. The undersides of his wings are far lighter than the rest of him and look almost a Sandy Brown. He has a long scar down his left side where he got into an argument with a rock during a failed landing when he was young. Obviously he lost but at least he survived.
He is rather broad in the shoulders and chest with slightly shorter and sturdier legs. His nose, like his legs, is also shorter than usual but this is offset by an abnormally longer than average tail.
Dragon Personality: Barzeth is a quiet and generally content dragon. He likes nothing more than to spend hours lying on a beach in the sun. This is, sometimes, a bone of contention between himself and his Rider, T’Laye but they manage to live with the difference without any ill feelings.
While he does like to lie about and relax he is also of the same general mind-set as his rider. He loves to have fun and enjoy life while also protecting those in the Weyr and neighboring holds. He also has the same down to earth approach to life as T’Laye but on a slightly different scale considering he is a dragon and his rider is a human. The difference between the two is barely noticeable to those around them but to the two of them the difference is perceptible, if not often cared for.
Where T’Laye enjoys spending time with others and offering advice Barzeth takes the approach that everything will be revealed to others with time and age.
