Kegin wasn't sure how things were going to go once the hatching began. He hoped that he impressed and truly wanted to be a rider. His mind tried to find reasons it wouldn't work by kegin wanted to believe it was possible. Kegin decided to go to the sands. He wasn't going to walk on the Sands but be where those who watch would be. He wondered what it would feel like to impress. What would come calling him? He looked over the sands at the egss and looked at each color and each design on them. Which would hatch for him? He was sure all candidates thought about it.
Kegin smiled as he thought. He began thinking of all the colors he would be possible for. He saw a female brownrider as the Candidate master and wondered what other oddities would happen or could happen. He began to get a bit more excited. "I know I am good enough to be a rider. But will a hatchling agree?" he asked himself. He looked around wondering if he was the only one looking at the eggs.

Kaith turned her massive, wedge-shaped golden head as another Candidate came to take a peek at her eggs. She was turning the eggs, using her shorter forearms to gently turn the eggs as she perched on her massive hindquarters. Her tail looped protectively around the mound of the egg she was working on, keeping the base stable as she lifted the egg, set it down, built up the mound again, and then carefully put the egg back in a position where it would heat evenly.
She didn't want any of her babies to perish because they were too hot on one side, and too cold on the other! Her bronze mate would often come in to watch. She didn't mind that, but any other dragon visitors were careful to stay in the dragon tiers away from her. Dragons didn't have long memories, but some events stayed with them, and the egg theft of a few clutches ago was still in the dragon's memory.
Kaith was not concerned about this Candidate. He seemed content to stay in the stands. As long as he remained there, she was fine with it. She returned her attention back to her fussing, showing the Candidate that he was fine where he was. She would warn him if he came closer to her eggs though!

“I wouldn’t look at any of them eggs funny, kid. Kaith might get antsy.” A voice called out to Kegin.
Akki was slouched against the entrance, staring out at the eggs. She had missed the actual hatching itself, she had some business to attend to down at Caspian and was only now getting to see them. Ebbeth was also curious to see the eggs but decided he could wait until the hatching. He didn’t dare risk angering the Queen.
His clutch sister could whip his bottom any day.
“They’re beauts Kaith. Still not a fan of the daddy being a stranger to the Weyr but hey, you have good taste so I won’t say any more.” Akki grinned, letting her eyes drift from egg to egg before resting on the golden dragon for a moment. She turned her attention back to Kegin, “Don’t go killing yourself with all those questions you have going around in your head. If you’re meant to be a rider, then you have no worries.”
Akki liked to think that quite a few people had the potential. Hey, if she could become a bluerider than surely nearly everyone could.

Keging watched the queen with interest. Her fussing made him smile. He liked the way she protected them. It reminded him of his mother all those turns ago. He nodded to her showing he understood. He was happy to just watch. When another spoke to him he was a bit surprise. He looked at her and nodded in respect, acknowledging her presence. "I see you are doing well. How are the wounds? Surly fine if you are here." He smiled a bit and looked back at the queen.
"I have no ill will to them. I just like the colors and designs. And my mind is one that thinks of all possibilities. It can't be helped. But I enjoy the thoughts it takes to be confident or feeling worried. I am sure I will impress. It is only time. If you do not mind my asking what brings you here? Did you miss the hatching?" he asked. He was sure to keep his tone respectful. He was sure she still didn't like his helping her.

Akki bent over slightly anf gave Kegin the A-Ok sign. “It takes a lot more than that to keep me down.” She grinned. It had hurt when she had to move the next day but she adapted pretty quickly. She had wine that needed to be drunk, drudges that needed to be gossiped with and kids to annoy. Nothing would keep her from doing the things she loved. “What about you? Sweeping any gals off their feet lately?”
Akki smiled slightly at his confidence. She closed her eyes for a second and tried to think back to the day she stood as a candidate. Was she as sure as this boy that she would Impress? No. Definitely not. She was nervous but that was all she could really recall.
You were annoyed. I was the last dragon to hatch and you were annoyed that I was taking my sweet time.
“And that long wait was for nothing. I got a dud dragon, a mute! Whatta loser.” Akki mumbled, a crooked grin playing on her lips as Ebbeth protested loudly. She shrugged, “I had a little rendezvous going down at Caspian Hold and missed the blasted thing. Figured I’d drop by now. What about you? You miss it or just wanting to take another looksie?”

Kegin smiled a bit, "Glad to hear. It could have been much worse." he looked at her and wondered what she was thinking. he was surprised she never came after him to get answers. When she asked about girls his smile vanished and he looked back over the sands. "No. I scare them." he said. He leaned against the railing. He couldn't make eye contact. He still didn't understand why she acted that way.
Kegin began to wonder if he would be the only person in a weyr, if he impressed and won a flight, to have a flight mate to not want him. To turn him down. He would be embarrassed and even think something was wrong with him. She didn't even let him explain anything or defend himself. "How about you? Any lucky man or woman?" He only asked because gender of the rider didn't mean anything to the dragon.

“Honey! All of the boys scare the girls!” Akki laughed. “The girls just get used to it eventually.” Of course in her case, she was the one who scared people. And for the most part, people really did just get used to it. It wasn’t like Akki was going away anytime soon. She cocked an eyebrow slightly, “Why? Did something happen?” She blinked and then waved her hand slightly, shooing his worries away.
“You’re too young to fall in love anyways, kid.”
She hooked her hands behind her head and grinned. “Men and women.” She corrected. Surely she couldn’t just go around having only one little friend with benefit, right? “But nope, my boytoy ran away on me.” Akki beamed, as if this was quite the accomplishment – scaring away your significant other. “Plus Ebbeth sucks in flights so he never wins.” She lowered her voice to a whisper.
I will eat your eyebrows if you keep spreading lies about me! Ebbeth grumbled for everyone to hear.

Kegin tried to keep a straight face. But he choked and began to laugh out loud. He took a deep breath to calm down. "No you don't understand. I wasn't in love. I met this girl and things were going pretty well. I asked her on a date and she agreed. but then all of the sudden she said something about a guy might want to break my nose if someone heard anything i said. I didn't say anything bad really. Just a question. I told her i had worse to worry about then a broken nose. But she looked at me like I was a nightmare." he said.
He looked back at Akki, "Her eyes got big and it looked her lip might tremble in fear. When I say i scared her off I REALLY scared her. And I don't know why. She even ran away before i could say anything. Maybe she saw my back. Thought I was something bad. So she ran." he shook his head and sighed. "I don't know. I don't really care anymore but I am still confused. Do I scare you?" he asked. "I mean it didn't seem like it even though I knew the man that marked you. You didn't seem to care."

Akki snapped her fingers together and then pointed at Kegin. “Listen up, sugar.” The bluerider said with a slight frown. “I am not like anyone else you will meet here. I am not your typical lady or even rider so don’t compare anyone to me because you’ll set yourself up for trouble.”
Anyone in Dark Moon could confirm that Akki was not like anyone else. She was snarky, willing to flirt with anyone/ everyone and to be honest; she was lacking in the common sense department. It worked for her and she liked living that way though she could see how it could frighten some people off.
“Next time you see this chickie, you will apologize to her. And from now on watch what you say. Don’t go on about anything violent or frightening, yeah?” A slight frown pulled at the corner of her lips. Kegin seemed to be a rather open boy – he spoke what was on his mind and it seemed like he didn’t really hold back his words. He probably didn’t realize that some of the things that slipped out of his mouth could be considered rather intense.
“Don’t go revealing all your past and drama too. Girls like mystery.” She flashed him a lopsided little grin. She rubbed the back of her neck slowly and snickered. “Anyways, about the man who marked me? I don’t care because I know that next time I see him I will borrow a pot from the kitchens and smack him with it. Nobody marks me and gets away with it.”
Especially not when that guy was a cocky little feller. That just annoyed her even more.
“But don’t go knocking anyone up! I want forgive you if you knock anyone up! Candidates are supposed to avoid any romances and junk, I’m pretty sure.”

Kegin lifted a brow surprised. "no no. She said it like a joke. And I didn't tell her anything. Just said i had more to worry about. It was some girl named Orena. I don't think I will be able to talk to her again. I think being ran from once is enough for me. And I am more mysterious then any here." he said. "Other then the man who marked you what else do you know of me? Nothing I wager. Not even the Candidate Master knows me. I am just another face." His normally very controlled temper was starting to rise.
Kegin knew he needed to stop and calm down. He glared at the woman and looked back at the sands. He followed the eggs designs to take his mind off everything. Why was everyone changing the way they looked at him? Was he a freak and didn't know it? He was beginning to hate everyone here. None wanted to really know him and this one was making assumptions. Him apologies to Orena? He didn't do anything wrong. She did. She was rude.

Akki laughed, leaned over and patted Kegin on the side of his face. “You’re not as mysterious as you think.” She grinned. She let her hands fall on her hips, one jutting out slightly. She lifted one finger into the air, “You know that you have what it takes to be a rider but you’re not sure if anyone will agree with that.” She jabbed her thumb towards the eggs as she talked. Another finger went up, “You take life too seriously, kiddo.”
Of course in Akki’s eyes, nearly everyone took life too seriously.
Three fingers were up in the air now, “You wear your heart on your sleeve. Not a bad thing but stick around long enough and you’ll see someone break it.” The corner of her lips twitched slightly into a sly little smile. It was a known fact that Akki had a tendency to break the hearts of the boys who wore them on their sleeve. R’dan, R’xis…oh, the list could go on. She let her hand flutter back to her hip, “I could go on for a bit more but I think you get the point; you’re not as mysterious as you think.”
Akki smiled widely when she received a nasty little glare. She stepped up beside Kegin and let her arm fall around his shoulders. “Glare at me again and I’ll claw your pretty eyes out.” She laughed, patting his shoulder slightly with the hand that was resting on it. She stared out at the eggs and gave a content sigh. The hatching was going to be a good one; she could feel it in her bones.

Kegin sighed. There was no reason to argue with someone when the thought they knew everything. The argument would just never end. "Love to see you try that. Did better against the one who trained Veran then you did with him." He chuckled and looked back at the sands. The touch was a bit calming to him. In a way he felt a bit like Akki. But in more ways he still felt alone. Most of the time he believed it for the best. Other times he just hated it.
Kegin looked at the sands and then back at Akki, "So are you going to try and break his heart then? If you do can I watch? That would be something to see. Or better yet you can try an easier target if you don't feel up to it. OH I want to see how you do against the mountain." he smiled and her and chuckled a bit. By Mountain he was talking of Konta. He knew the men and recently found out that woman have joined the group but he didn't know anything about them.

”I try to avoid having crazies fall in love with me.” Akki said with a serious face but making an odd ‘Snrrrking’ noise. Crazies always fell for Akki and she always fell for crazies, who was she trying to kid? She lifted her hand to her mouth and chewed on her thumb, a disgusting bad habit. She stared out at the eggs, admiring their colors and sizes for a moment before having her thoughts shift on her. Healthy relationships and Akki never really worked out all that well. R’dan was a relatively healthy relationship but he ended up running away, R’xis was a candidate and R’fael? Well, he was more of a fling.
She let her hand move away from her mouth, “I won’t make him fall in love with me. I’ll claw out his pretty little eyes too.” The bluerider beamed. Even though she had only ‘met’ Veran for a few minutes, she was pretty sure that he wasn’t exactly the kind of guy to fall head over heels for some girly. She shifted her body weight and sat down on the hot stands, feeling the warmth through her clothes.
“What about you, kid? You gonna turn into a heartbreaker?” She asked, her eyes narrowed slightly as she tilted her head upwards to make eye contact.

Kegin listened and chuckled. "That is funny. I kinda like you." he said. He watched the eggs a bit more. He looked at the gold and smiled. She was beautiful. How could something so dangerous be so beautiful. He looked at her as she asked her question. He didn't know what to say. He didn't know what that even was. "A heart breaker?" he asked. He sighed and shook his head. "I don't even know what that is. All i know is I can only be me. Even if the me I am is not the me others want."
Kegin looked back at the sand and smiled slightly hopeful of the future. He looked back at Akki, "What exactly do you mean?" he asked. He looked at her eyes and saw something in there. Something that looked like suspicion. he didn't know why she would look at him in that way but he didn't like it.
