K'dan was out at the lake, scrubbing Hydrath. Lately he had been pampering his dragon a bit, being more attentive. Baths were more thorough than before, and words were softer. K'danmine. I won't complain about the treatment you have been giving me. But do you not think you've gone overboard on this?
Hydrath nudged his rider with his snout. Ever since the whole accident with going back in time, Hydrath had noticed the change in K'dan's mood. The young man was always a bit on the quieter, timid side. But now there was a different level of it. What struck such fear into him? "No, no I haven't. You deserve to be treated better, that's all", K'dan argued.
Mine, I know something causes you much fear. Was it because of that incident? Hydrath didn't have to be specific, K'dan knew what he was talking about. "Wh-what are you talking about? I have no clue", K'dan answered back, then fell silent as he continued to wash his dragon.
Fine, Hydrath wouldn't press that issue. For now. But he would bring it up again later. What of this girl? Hydrath quickly changed subject. Perhaps K'dan would be so caught off guard that the blue could get a little more insight into his rider's love life. It seemed to be lacking for quite some time. "Wait. What? What girl?", K'dan blinked furiously as he asked. He was nearly stunned.
The one at the hatching of the little ones. What do you think of her? Hydrath was truely curious, but was hoping to rile his rider a bit and have a bit of fun. "Her. Oh, well. She's...um. Yeah. She's nice?", K'dan stumbled over his words. Hydrath gave a dragonic chuckle, then nudged his rider with just enough force to knock him into the water with a very loud splash.
"Oof!", K'dan exclaimed as he fell backwards into the water. He sat up in the water. "Annoying blue that you are!", K'dan shouted then splashed at his dragon.

“I think he’s a dashing blue.”
The voice seemed to come out of nowhere. There was no one in plain sight – the water remained still, except for the splash that K’dan and his dragon had caused, so it was clear there was no one swimming around in the lake. There was a slight rustle in a tree near the shore and seconds later, Faine fell more or less gracefully to the ground.
She had spent a rather decent proportion of the day sitting in that tree, staring up and counting everything. How many clouds there were, how many dragons flew by, everything. She was in a counting mood and probably would still be counting away if her attention hadn’t shifted to the rider and dragon. Hydrath had made dragon number four for ones who have passed if you were wondering.
Not Impressing at the last hatching hadn’t changed Faine’s view on dragons at all. She still found them to be magnificent creatures and she was still enamored by the idea of being a rider. Or at least the possibility of being a rider – she understood that perhaps she didn’t have exactly what it took.

Mine... Mine! I need a wash. All these flying lessons are making me dusty. And a gentleman should never be dusty, but clean. May we go to the lake?
Rayn shook her head and smiled at her steadily growing brown. Only you would ask so politely, Llanwreth. Of course we can go down for a wash. Let me change and we can go... oh, and get .. uh... the little one's attention would you?
T'would be easier if you gave the little lady a name. I'm sure your peers would be happy to give you suggestions.
Rayn was quiet. She knew others would give her names if she asked... but she kinda wanted to come up with one herself... she had been playing with letters and things... yet she still couldn't seem to pick a name that suited the light green flitter.
Sighing, she changed into a tighter top and a pair of short pants, then threw a pack that help some soap and towels over her shoulder, and made certain that her knife was snugly in it's sheath at the small of her back.
With a nod, she looked at the big brown. Meet you down there? I don't feel like tackling the harness onto you at the moment.
Llanwreth gave a little huff in draconic laughter. Very well, mine. I shall see you soon.
It didn't take her long to get to the edge of the lake. It was nice to see that others were also thinking about washing their dragons. Rayn was drawn to a particularly familiar blue, and decided to go say hi as Llanwreth took a small joyride in the sky.
"K'dan! Hey! How are you feeling? You look much better... Ack!"
SPLASH! Llanwreth didn't often show a large playful side, but he did love splashing into the water... especially from flying.
"Pthh! Llanwreth!!"
Sorry mine... couldn't help it.

K'dan stood up, soaked now from head to toe. "Oh, why thank you. Hydrath appreciates the compliment", K'dan politely nodded to the girl as he answered her statement. He patted Hydrath's leg as he spoke to her. But just as he thought to continue a conversation with this girl, whom he did not really know, a voice called out to him.
"Oh, Hi Rayn!", K'dan exclaimed and waved to her, slinging droplets of water around him. Speaking of that girl. Hydrath rumbled in K'dan's mind. Shut up. K'dan snapped at his dragon and tried to hide a bit of blushing. Why did Hydrath have to try and embarrass him now?
"Rayn?", he questioned as the girl got splashed by her own dragon. He shook his head with a smile, and chuckled softly. "Dragons and water. I've yet to see a dragon that didn't appreciate the combination in some manner", he stated as he walked over to her.
"As to how I'm feeling. Fine, I guess", K'dan answered her question simply. "And yourself? You are well?", K'dan asked her genuinely.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
D'car had decided to wash his dragon as well. Infact, his dragon demanded it. He wasn't near the others. Infact, he made sure he wasn't near anyone. It was always D'car's way to avoid anyone. But as he began to scrub his brown, he noticed Faine not too far off. "Oh joy", he mumbled to himself. Faine was that weird girl who seemed to think her and D'car were the best of friends. D'car thought otherwise.
If I'm lucky, she won't notice me. But I've never been lucky. The boy had such a positive attitude! Maybe he'd actually have a friend one day if he kept being so sweet! Though it seemed he had a friend now, whether he liked it or not. I just hope she doesn't try to show me her scar again. D'car shivered subconsciously. Not that he was opposed to seeing a woman in such a manner. D'car was straight. He just didn't like awkward situations. So he responded to them like he responded to anything, with utter disdain.
You have a friend whether you like it or not. You should seize this opportunity and progress your influence. The brown tried to get his rider to be more social, just so he could gain some ground. Like usual. But his words would fall on deaf ears. "I'm seizing no sort of opportunity", D'car spat back.
It seemed that Faine and K’dan had one thing in common, at the very least. They both got distracted very easily.
While another girl might have had her feathers ruffled by the boy who turned his attention to Rayn, Faine’s attention had already drifted off somewhere else too. Maybe if she hadn’t been filling her day with consecutive numbers she would have noticed D’car before. Not that it really mattered though because she was noticing him now. And that was all that mattered.
She stretched, waggling the tips of her fingers way above her hand as a ‘Hello!’ to the new brownrider. Faine let her hands drop to her side before she practically skipped to where the boy was washing his dragon. Within a matter of seconds she was flopping onto the ground, inches away from the shoreline and D’car.
“I haven’t congratulated you yet.” Faine beamed, nodding her head towards Tetroth, “So won’t you introduce us, please?”. She was laying on the ground, stomach down and let her legs stick upwards towards the sky. “And you never congratulated me!”
D'car looked up, noticing Faine coming his way. If there was a wall, he'd be banging his head against it. She found him. Calm yourself mine. You need to be more accepting of others if you wish to be accepted yourself. D'car looked over to his brown. That was oddly profound coming from him. Fine, he'd try to keep his cool. Maybe there was some truth in Tetroth's words. And maybe by being accepted, he'd be left alone.
"Hello Faine", he said in a monotone voice, devoid of emotion. He was good at the whole emotionless voice thing. He looked over at Faine. She had chosen to plop herself close to him. D'car didn't like closeness either. But he couldn't help but shift his gaze slightly to her chest, where her scar was just starting.
He still remembered the first time she tried to show him that very scar. He seemed near horrified, or atleast very irritated, at her trying to show him her goods. Yet now here he was looking at her chest, unknowingly. He caught himself and shifted his gaze back to her eyes. Call it weird, but D'car did have some slight gentlemanly qualities and staring at a girl's chest just wasn't right. Hopefully she didn't catch the stare.
"Oh, right. This is Tetroth. Tetroth, Faine", he introduced them, diverting his eyes away from her for a moment to show some false interest in the spot of Tetroth's hide he was washing. "Congradulated you? Congradulate you for what?", he asked, genuinely wondering what he should be congradulating her for. Was she about to show him her latest scar or something? He didn't like where he thought this may be going. Or maybe he secretly did? Who knew with D'car. He had such a rough exterior.
If Faine was sadistic then maybe she would have had a reason for torturing D’car. But she wasn’t sadistic – she was just blissfully unaware of the fact that D’car rather be alone then be stuck with this babbling redhead.
Ignorance really was the way to go.
She tilted her head to the side before looking downwards, following the boys gaze. Perhaps another girl would have gotten mad and accused him at looking at the ‘goods’ but Faine immediately assumed it was the scar. It normally was – the thing was hard to miss, knotted and pink. She looked back up and flashed the boy a big, innocent smile. “Kitchen accident. I wasn’t allowed back down there for a few sevendays after that. Said I was a ‘hazard to myself’.”
“It’s a pleasure to meet you Tetroth. I’m sorry that we haven’t met sooner.” The girl apologized with a slight frown, nodding her head at the brown. She took her eyes off of the dragon and let them drift back to the boy. She reached her arms over and drummed them lightly against D’cars kneecap. “I stood! I didn’t fall or trip or cry or die or anything! I didn’t mess up!”
D'car nearly turned red, but instead he sneered. Still, he was glad she wasn't a typical girl. He may have gotten slapped and accused of trying to take a peek. "Right, kitchen accident", he nodded slowly as he responded to her. He still wondered curiously what left a scar like that on her chest.
"Oh. I see. Well...congradulations", D'car still kept that monotone voice. He really was trying to heed Tetroth's advice. He had to be awarded points for that. Still. Was that something to be congradulated over? She didn't impress a dragon or anything. D'car gave a mental shrug. He looked down at her arms. She was...touching him. D'car's personal bubble was being popped big time.
He was going to hate himself for this. But he had to ask. "What caused a scar like that anyway?", he asked. His curiousity just got the better of him. He had a feeling it would also do him in. The girl obviously had no qualms with touching him, showing off infront of him, or anything. The girl seemed to have no barriers. Meanwhile, D'car had nothing but barriers. Many, many barriers. Barriers that those such as Faine might actually be able to break down. One by one, and it would be a slow process. But it was still possible.
While D’car might not understand why Faine wanted congratulations, the girl was still quite pleased with herself. She was so worried that her hands would have done something on their own – what if they had reached out to try and touch an egg? The possibilities were endless and nerve-wracking. The redhead was basking in self-glory.
She looked down at the scar once more, removing her hand from D’car so she could lightly touch it. She looked up and laughed loudly. “I didn’t realize I had a knife in my hand and ended up tripping. Stabbed myself.” Her laugh stopped though when she realized that most people probably would realize that they had a knife in their hand. She glanced at the ground, a nervous twitch. When she met D’car she had a plate in her hand without her knowledge and know she admitted that she didn’t know about the knife. He was going to think she was crazy!
Of course, he probably already did.
D'car was once again staring unknowingly at Faine's chest. It really didn't help that she was now touching her chest either. Before he was so riled when she tried to flash him. Now, he couldn't help but stare. But he had been paying attention to what she said, despite keeping his eyes on her playing with her chest.
"That may explain our first encounter", he said offhand. She had been holding a plate, and didn't know it. Perhaps there was some sort of problem she had. D'car turned back to paying attention to Tetroth. The brown rumbled amusedly in D'car's mind. He didn't know whether it was just Faine's presence or what Tetroth had said, but his rider was acting noticeably different. Don't even think what you're about to think. D'car growled mentally at the brown. Consider it never thought of then. The brown would endulge his rider for now.
Rayn held up a hand as she glanced at Llanwreth. "Hold that thought."
Then, with a shouted 'BONSAI!' She lept into a tackle of her dragon, dragging the brown beast into the water with her. Splashes, a few curses, and some wrestling moves later, Rayn sloshed out of the water, a happy grin on her face.
"Ahhh, that was worth it. Erm." She turned her smiling face towards K'dan, and sheepishly said, "Yes... I am well. It's nice seeing you again. I'm especially glad to see Hydrath's color back to it's normal, and might I say, vibrant, hue."
K'dan smiled and gave a chuckle as the girl messed with her dragon. He shook his head, the smile remaining on his face. That was all too amusing to watch and listen to. It was good to see people enjoying themselves and having fun. Lately it seemed that people around Darkmoon were just too tense.
K'dan could understand, however. Much had been going on at the weyr for quite awhile. There was that hurricane he heard about that hit the weyr. It didn't help that there was a considerable lack of a Weyrleader, with Christae bearing so much responsibility herself. Now there was this timing thing they discovered as well that had set the Weyr's leaders into overdrive.
He even saw the effects on his long-time friend G'han. It took a great deal to upset G'han. K'dan saw that he had changed since his return to Darkmoon and that he was a much more laid back person. He saw first hand that G'han could take alot and it'd simply wash off his back like nothing. Infact, it reminded him of Akki. K'dan smiled to himself as he thought of the two of them. They had been friends for so long and lately it seemed as though their friendship had taken an...interesting turn.
At any rate, he saw how tired the man was. Not just physically, but mentally he was worse for ware. He was edgier, snappier. It was unlike the bronzerider, so it was a good measuring stick to how things were going at Darkmoon. Since it could get under the skin of such a laid back character like G'han.
K'dan looked over to Hydrath, that bit of tension returning. When he saw the blue's hide that day, K'dan had been so worried about him. So worried it made him sick a couple of days. The blue had such a deep color, and to see it lost like that was very troubling. "I'm glad to see it is back as well", K'dan let out a greatful sigh as he patted his dragon.
He looked back over to Rayn and shifted awkwardly. "Oh, and it's nice to see you as well", K'dan said. Oh the awkwardness that was K'dan's lady skills. K'dan rather lacked those.
"It's nice to be appreciated, I guess." Rayn mussed her short spiky hair, the color a darker form of fire because of the dampness.
She bent to her small pack and ruffled through her things and pulled out her soap, and a well used rag. "So, I came down here to... wash the brown... off my brown."
She chuckled and then let out a small squeak as her green fire lizard popped out of between and latched onto her shoulder. "Oh! Oh heeeyyy! I just thought of a name!!" Rayn snatched the green gently off her shoulder and eskimo kissed her. "I'm calling you Mint."
Holding Mint out towards K'dan, she smiled. "Do you think she's a Mint?"
"Yes, it's quite nice to be appreciated", K'dan didn't know what else to say. He could feel the awkwardness bubbling up. He needed to sedate it if he was to keep up a decent conversation with Rayn.
"Oh, I'm just finishing washing my dragon", K'dan responded to her as he watched her. "Do you want some help. Or at the very least, some company?", K'dan asked her, hoping she'd accept either offer. K'dan looked over to a young boy and a young girl talking some distance off. K'dan smiled and shook his head. Ah, young love. Or was it? K'dan couldn't judge, but it was still adorable to see and think of.
I agree. Of course the blue was not talking about them, and K'dan knew it. The bluerider decided to ignore the blue's words. He looked up to see Rayn naming her flitt. He smiled at her. "That sounds like a fine name", he admitted to her.
Rayn smiled brightly. "I'd love some help, and the company!! Llanwreth keeps getting bigger... soon I won't be able to wrestle with him... he'll knock me over with a snort! But I still love his gentlemanly self... so by all means... lets get soapy together!"
With that she splashed back into the water, Mint flying ahead and perching on Llanwreth's head, starting to wash the large dragonling with her tiny claws. "Hehe! Mint! You need some soap!!"
Mint twittered at her, but flew over toward Rayn. However, she bypassed the red head and instead, landed on K'dan's head, lightly muffing up his hair, as if she was washing him too, then flew off into Rayn's hands for some soap.
"Psh, silly flitter!" Rayn laughed.
(( Ack, failpost ))
K'dan flashed her a smile and joined with her. "I don't mind helping if you don't", he stated and begin helping her wash her dragon. He laughed a bit as Mint messed with his hair. "Playful thing, isn't she?", he asked as he looked over to Rayn.
But his dragon nearby nudged him and he toppled over onto Rayn. He looked down on her with shock and grew red before rolling off of her and fussing at his dragon. "Must you be so annoying?", K'dan asked more embarrassed than angry. His dragon could be so frustrating sometimes!
"I'm done washing you. I thought you wanted to go play in the water anyway", K'dan said as the blue submerged himself in the water. I do, but toying with you can be such fun! The blue exclaimed as he slipped away beneath the deep blue surface of the lake. K'dan was so flustered right now.
One moment she was upright, the next, she was wet and under K'dan, accidentally of course. The blue rider looked so embarrassed and flustered, Rayn couldn't seem to get angry at all. Instead, she splashed the water around her and laughed. "Too right, dragons love to play in the water! Ha ha!"
She shook her head and gathered K'dan up in a hug. "Alls well though. C'mon. Llanwreth isn't getting any cleaner with us goofing off. Isn't that right Llanwreth?"
Indeed, I am still ungentlemanly dirty. Completely improper... though, Mint at least is trying her best to help.
Rayn laughed again. "That she is!! My little darling!"
K'dan was lucky he didn't suffer the wrath of Rayn, after being on top of her in a pretty awkward position. Though it didn't help that he was now in Rayn's embrace, this just fueled his flustery-ness and awkwardness more. "Eheh", K'dan let out an awkward laugh.
"Right. Um. Yeah. Not getting any cleaner", K'dan repeated. He began washing the brown again. Too bad he wasn't very suave when it came to these awkward moments.
"My little darling?", K'dan repeated yet again. And now he grew even redder, if that was possible. Did she just call him darling? This was really flustering K'dan. On the bright side, it was also distracting him from another type of tension that was the worry of his dragon. Ever since they went back in time, K'dan had been much more tense and worried.
"Yes, Mint. Isn't she just a little darling?" Rayn made cooing noises at the green, which caught the flitters attention, and she flew over to lavish adoration upon her chosen.
Llanwreth wanted to be clean, and Rayn was laughing... If dragons could smile slyly, he would have, but as it was, he simply nipped the bottom of Rayn's shirt and gave it a good tug, exposing a good portion of cleavage. "Hey! You! No frisking!"
A light blush played along Rayn's cheekbones as she re-situated her shirt, lightly smacking her dragons snout with her soapy rag. She shook her head and glanced at K'dan. She wondered if he had seen... Admin's Note:[/hr]
"Oh yes. Mint is quite a darling", K'dan agreed, and sighed in relief. She hadn't meant him after all. K'dan was oddly relieved about that. He looked over at the flitt, but then shifted his attention to the brown.
But...what was the brown doing. He looked over to Rayn. Her shirt was stretching...more and more. He couldn't help it, he just happened to be looking at her at the wrong time. And there it was, Rayn's boobs practically exposed to him. Infact...he even saw nipple. K'dan made a "Gah", noise and quickly fell into the water, submerging his head.
Had he just seen that? Yes, yes he did. Rayn was probably going to kill him now. But he would beat her to it! He'd drown himself first before Rayn could torture him to death! Bubbles floated up to the surface as K'dan kept his head submerged. This was also a clever technique to disguise his very, very red face. He had just seen her in such an indecent manner! K'dan would have his own freak out moment now, while his blue laughed at his reactions.
