Character: V'koran
Age: 18 T
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Rank: Weyrling brownrider
Appearance: V'koran has sandy-blonde hair and a tall, lanky build. His gait is awkward because he never really grew into his long arms and legs. His leg muscles are well developed from his constant runner rides, but the rest of him tends to be on the thinner, non-muscular side. General-made tunics never fit him right because they're either too wide or too short.
His face is long, like the rest of him, and not particularly good-looking. His nose is hooked and overlarge, and he has a high forehead. His eyebrows are in danger of growing together and his ears stick out funny. His eyes, however, are the defining feature of his face; they are large and a piercing, light gray.
Personality: V'koran spends a lot of his time buried in all sorts of hides, from old harpers' songs to economic histories of tithing. He spends so much time doing this, in fact, that he tends to neglect most other aspects of his life, such as eating properly. He also spends much of his time with animals; he's always seemed to be able to understand them, and therefore has collected several supposedly untamable mounts.
He's somewhat shy, but his social awkwardness is mostly due to the fact that he discusses things most young men his age aren't interested in, like in-depth looks at weyr and hold politics or trade routes of caravans. He finds people and their minds fascinating, and so tends to be an intense person to talk to, as he spends a lot of his time taking in their body language and how they talk. He is very observant and diplomatic, usually thinking about what he says before he says it. He is a very serious person, but with close friends he loosens up and is even known to pull a few pranks.
History: V'koran grew up the fourth son of a prominent beastholder, specializing in runners, in Ista. Because his three older brothers held the positions of managing each of the three stables, he was free to do as he pleased most of the time. He rode at least three hours a day and was often late for supper because he was spending time in the nearby woods with different hides from his father's collection.
His father, Varnelyn, always scolded him about being more involved with reading and animals than his brothers and the hold. This was not strictly true; he spent a lot of his time training difficult runners to do their various jobs. But even this was not enough to gain his father's favor. Because, in Varnelyn's eyes, he was disposable, the Searchrider that picked him out met with no contention from the holder. At the next Hatching, V'koran Impressed Verith.
Pets: Two runners (of his four from Ista): One, Shif, is a bay stallion with a slightly evil streak, the other is Halo, a bay gelding who is Shif's stablemate and a calm mount. The two are best friends and nearly inseparable. As they have nearly the same coloring and size, it takes a run-in with Shif for the untrained eye to find out which runner is which.
Dragon: Brown Verith
Dragon Appearance: Verith is a warm russet color, with a darker tint along the edges of his wings. The wing membranes are a lighter brown than the rest of him. He is medium-sized.
Dragon Personality: Verith is thoughtful and doesn't talk much. You can bet that when he does say something, though, it's important. He has a realistic opinion of himself, realizing that he will never be a huge brown, and is just fine with it.
