It wasn’t hard to figure out what was wrong with the runnerbeast. The girl examining the beast snorted and patted the it on the rump. The stallion whinnied and shook what was left of his mane. It had been cut off for Thread reasons—though Thread had yet to fall. She knelt down and gently pushed the beast’s back hoof so it rose above the ground. She expertly hooked her fingers into the deep recesses of the inner hoof and brought out a stone. It would have been easier to use the tool to get stones out of beasts’ feet, but she did not have it.
When she let the beast set its foot down, she judged its reaction. The stallion snorted, and whiffed her hair. She smiled and, when his rider wasn’t looking, slipped him some sweet-treat. He crunched on it noisily, and she petted his neck while she waited for his rider to stop talking to the holder whom the message was being relayed to. Stupid message-carriers never knew anything about their mounts. The stallion huffed again, and began rooting to see if the girl had any more sweet-treats.
“No, no, these treats are not for you.” Calleigh said, gently brushing the stallion away from her pocket. Then she pushed her stark blond hair out of her ears and scratched the stallion’s roan ears. They were soft, and she remembered riding on her mother’s runnerbeast. However, now her mother was a long way away at the cothold, and she was in Hisoka Hold. She didn’t feel like traveling back just to ride a runnerbeast when she could ride them here… after work was done.
The runners’ rider came back, and patted the stallion on the neck good-naturedly. “Did she hurt you, Durst?” The man asked, smiling at Calleigh. The stallion rolled his eyes and tossed his head. The man nodded appreciatively, “Looks like he’s feeling better. I’ll make sure to give the Masters a good word for you.”
Calleigh smiled back appreciatively, “Thank you. Looks like Durst wants to go now.” The runner was indeed backing away toward the door of the stables. The man grinned, “Looks like that. Durst, wait. Lemme get on you.”
After mounting the stallion, and after a final nod to the girl, the messenger and Durst rode away. Calleigh sighed, and strode to a watering trough to wash off her hands. She’d gotten her hands dirty when she was cleaning out the donkey’s hooves. Then, after drying them unconsciously on the side of her pants, the girl made her way to the main room of the Hall. Koda, who had been laying inconspicuously on a small pile of straw, quickly got up, whined, and followed her. The gathering room was always warm because of the fires. Calleigh made her way to a seat by one of the large fires, and sat down. There wasn’t much to do now, since it was midday and many runners were out and many of the Hall’s beasts were out grazing.
Calleigh sat and stared at the fire, remembering to blink every now and then. Her hands curled under her chin, and she thought about the pregnant herdbeasts in her cothold: Mora, Weyrna, and Basker. Basker was farther along… and Calleigh should be there now to make sure she was doing fine. But the fire was just too warm… and Calleigh was struggling to stay awake. Koda lay down at the foot of the chair, his head up, his ears swiveling. He whined only once, and then kept silent. His Calleigh was here with him, so he was fine.

ooc: its a bit lacking, but... it was all I could think of - if you want her searched, i dont mind throwing Q'sin in later She hummed to herself as she walked, it was nerves more than anything, displayed in a jittering fast paced tune.. Tundra was not well. And it made Hester rather nervous, the canine was out of form, he did not look well in the slightest. And it was all Hester could do not to run forward and scream for a healer. But instead she remained poised, walked forward with an unusually long stride for someone of her height. A man mounted on a runner rode past her, escaping the healing halls, she turned her head as he rode past, worrying to herself even more, despite the fact that the sight could not have triggered anything logically worrying. The gathering room was closest, surely there she could find some one who would know what to do to bring back her Tundra, she missed the canine, it was such a simple thing, but she and he had been together for numerous turns now, and being without his usually ever-present company, made her worry even more. She rapped on the door, not pausing after her presence was announced, walked with purpose into the gathering room. She looked around, there were people everywhere, shards how was she meant to get this correct? She looked around, noticed a girl sitting by herself, her own canine beside her, that was a promising fact. So, she approached the younger girl. “Ehm, I’m sorry to disturb you, but, my canine’s sick. Do you know of anyone who could fix him back to normal?” her tone was soft. The worry was evident in her voice, and to anyone who knew the master harper, they would recognise she was not herself. Far from her bubbly persona, she was introverted with worry.
