Alder watched her with burning, dark eyes. The night air seemed to wrap about the both of them like the arms of a lover, silken and smooth, warm, enticing. It was soft and cool. He could see the light winding down in small increments, could feel the passing of time. The night was winding down. It’d be better for him to get home, to get to his Dig, and spend the remainder of his awaken hours with his wher.
Her giggle made lips quirk, lining his face. A brow rose and he chuckled lightly, watching her, nearly seeing her weighing the options within her head. Should she? Shouldn’t she? He hoped she did. Faranth, he hoped she did. He wanted to taste her again, if only for a moment, so he could lock it away in his own personal wine rack. She was one of the best of the bouquets.
She pressed a finger to his lips and he smirked, watching her, eyes smoldering. This could be acceptance or denial. He wasn’t sure. He wasn’t sure at all and the uncertainty made it all the better, made his heart pump lightly with adrenaline.
The kiss was simple, brief, her taste lingering on his mouth for a moment, her scent wreathed around him and then she moved, graceful as any dancer, away, smile bright and her eyes laughing. Head inclined as the handler laughed. “Mmm, indeed, my lady.” He watched her disappear, grin coming to his lips, and then he set off, walking the short distance back to his new home, thoughts whirling with the events from this delightful, beautiful night.
