G'han didn't really need any encouragement from his dragon at all, infact Gerenanth knew he needed to say something. Any bit of tension seemed to blow off the bronzerider and now he felt bad about everything. All this was over a bunch of rumors and lies.
"I'm also sorry. All this over so many lies and rumors. Our own actions didn't help anything at all either, just threw wood on the fire. I am sorry for leaving the way I did. It was the biggest mistake I could make", G'han's tone was sad and sympathetic, something of regret was in there as well.
G'han wasn't afraid to admit his mistake either, there was no purpose in hiding it or brushing it aside. Everyone had to own up to their mistakes. But the greatest thing about a mistake was that it was something to learn from and that's something Gerenanth encouraged his rider with after he admitted making the mistake.
G'han took an awkward step or two forward, head cast down, muscles relaxed, and his mood totally different. Perhaps he thought to end this with a hug, but he certainly wasn't going to force it on Rhia. Still, it was the only right way he could think to end this horrible note on in a more resolved manner.

Rhia took a deep, steadying breath as G'han admitted that he was wrong and apologized for it. "I shouldn't have left that to a letter. The only thing I can see is maybe the wind blew it down or a drudge picked it up as he cleaned the weyr."
Rhia looked uncertain as G'han moved toward her and then she stepped forward, wrapping her arms around him in a tight hug. "I'm sorry G'han. Maybe now we can at least be friends for our childrens' sake. They need their father." She stepped back, not ashamed now that there was a glimmer of tears in her grey eyes. "I wish this could have ended differently but at least now we can move forward."

G'han sighed in relief as Rhia began to throw her arms around him. This certainly ended well. Okay, well atleast he wasn't dead right? G'han wrapped his arms around Rhia as well. There was some warmth as he did so, some old flicker. He rested his head on top of hers momentarily and allowed a lone tear to fall from his cheek. He didn't like how things ended either. Maybe he wished things hadn't ended at all. But one way or another, this was now behind them.
G'han soon released her and as she said they could be friends, he grinned and spoke before he could think. "Friends with-", G'han was about to ask in jest before catching himself. "...responsibilities." Yeah, I need to stop hanging around Akki, he thought. "Anyway. I think that'd be best. For us, and for the kids. You're right, they need their father", G'han smiled at her before moving towards Gerenanth and punching him lightly on one of his front legs. You're lucky this turned out the way it did. I could have ended up dead!
Gerenanth was relieved as well when he saw the two embrace. Crisis averted it seems. I really feared for...G'han. Gerenanth paused and continued. Right, I think I should talk to Ebbeth about the traits mine picks up from his.The bronze said to himself. Gerenanth didn't wince or respond to G'han's comment at all.

"Yeah. Responsibilities. At least now I won't have to leave them with the drudges or other riders all the time. I hope Christae finds someone to take over the Candidate Master position soon. It really is too much for one rider now. When we were smaller, it was fine, but now we have too many Weyrlings and Candidates and Wolf's Queen should be rising soon so we will have another clutch. I'll have my hands full with that, and still have the twins to look after."
Rhia hadn't caught the hesitation. She probably would have slapped him if he had continued on that line of thought. "Well let's clean these beasts and then we can go talk to the kids. They need to know that you will be a part of their lives now, for good. I'll strangle you if you don't stay a part of their lives for good."
Rhia needed to let go, to have closure. I'm glad things worked out. The brown blinked his lids. What traits?

G'han simply nodded along and listened. Quite a few things had changed about G'han, but being a good listener had never left him. "I have plenty of catching up to do anyway. I'd love nothing more than to spend every bit of free time with them", G'han said with a smile. It was true, really. G'han himself was a kid at heart and playing with kids even at his age was something he'd always love to do when he had the time. G'han started scrubbing Gerenanth as he responded, "I have no intention of leaving now. All this has been cleared up."
Same. Gerenanth agreed. It wasn't doing G'han any good keeping his emotions bottled up either. Oh, nothing. I'm sure you'll see what I mean soon enough. Gerenanth covered quickly without changing tone or hesitating. If he'd given away what G'han nearly said, his rider would be a goner for sure. Gerenanth relaxed as G'han began scrubbing and tried to make it as easy as possible for the bronzerider.
