He sort of expected it at the last moment, but knowing didn’t detract from the actual action of Wolf landing on Riler’s back. She shouted into his ear rather loudly, which startled him even more, but he figured that she was just having fun. Not wanting to seem like a spoil-sport, he’d just go along with her playfulness. Riler tried to put his arms around his back to throw her off, but her arms were wrapped around his arms, limiting their maneuverability. He was then stricken with an idea of how to get her off, hopefully. He let his legs buckle beneath him and took a deep breath as he began to sink to the bottom of the lake, dragging Wolf along with him. He closed his eyes, smirking to himself at his own cunning plan.

Wolf could see that he had planned this and released him, not liking to go deep under the water most times. She swam back up to the top and looked around for him, a smirk lighting her expression. "Oh Riler?" she called in a teasing voice, her eyes now darting around the lake quickly. She hoped that her having wrapped her arms around him hadn't impaired his swimming. "Where are you?" she asked, speaking just so that her mind wouldn't start flooding with worry. Wolf often got nervous easily, her life experiences giving her good reason to.
She was wishing that she could enjoy herself like this all the time but once her Weyrling Lessons started tomorrow she knew that it wouldn't be possible. 'Oh well, I'll enjoy the time I have now to the full,' she told herself. It was all that she really could do anyways and she didn't see any harm in not thinking about tomorrow until it actually came around. She continued to wait for the boy to surface, her hearts beat increasing more and more as she did so. Even if it had only been a short amount of time to her it felt like an eternity.

He felt Wolf release her grasp on his shoulder, feeling as if he won the confrontation. He let his body sink deeper into the water as he felt his chest growing tighter and tighter. He began to wonder how long he could hold his breath, but decided that now was not really the time to find out. Still, Riler didn’t feel motivated enough to return to the surface. Instead, he let his body float in the depths of the lake.
He felt a pressure growing in his ears as his body slowly came to a halt before, even more slowly, beginning its ascent. As he rose, he opened his eyes, surprised to see how far he could see underwater. Faintly, he could make out the body of Wolf, and deviously decided to frighten her. Swimming as fast as he could, for the pressure building in his chest was becoming more and more urgent, he reached his hands out. As he approached Wolf’s dangling feet, using his hand, he gingerly ran a finger down her foot, hoping that she was the ticklish-type. Afterwards, he swam away preemptively in case she began kicking with her feet. Propelling himself upwards, he arrived at the surface, exhaling loudly as he gasped for breath. Whirling his head around, he looked for Wolf, hoping he hadn’t missed any sort of reaction she might have made.

He hadn't missed any sort of response at all, seeing as to the fact that as soon as the boy surfaced Wolf screamed. She looked out for his form in the water, swimming as quickly as she could in no specific direction. She just wanted to get away from whatever creature it was that had made its way beneath her form. She looked over at Serinth, happily she was still deep in sleep. 'She probably senses that I'm all right...' Wolf assumed, not looking at all where she was swimming which was most likely the reason for what happened next...
She slammed right into Riler, looking to him quickly in fear that he was something other then a human. When she met his gaze she calmed down immediately, taking in a breath through her nose while letting it out through her mouth. "Riler, you scared me half to death" she laughed. She smirked at him, shaking her head of dark blond hair back and forth. She pointed a finger at him and then poked his chest, "bad, bad Riler" she teased.

Riler attempted to look as abashed as he could. In a small, exaggerated tone not dissimilar to one a small child would make in front of his mother, he said, “I’m sorry, ma’am.” Riler gingerly bit his bottom lip, adverting his eyes. “It won’t happen again, I swear.” He looked back into her face, trying his very hardest to keep a straight face. Eventually his facial expression snapped, sending Riler into a series of laughter and giggling. Trying to control himself, he began to swim in circles around Wolf, still grinning idiotically. “I’ve got a very important question,” he said, still circling her, but swimming closer and closer to her. “I ask a lot of people this…” He was slowly approaching her, until he was just a few inches away. Quietly, he asked ominously, in a whisper, a wide grin still spread across his face…
“…Are you ticklish?” Riler’s fingers twitched at his side as they awaited a verdict.

Wolf couldn't stop thinking: 'Oh no, oh no.' She was very ticklish and wasn't fond of being tickled while trying to swim. Swimming was hard enough without the added troubles. She smirked at him, tossing her head back a bit. Her side bangs flung back, the wet hair sticking to the side of her face a bit. "I don't know," she began, "am I?" She loved to put people's questions in to one's that didn't answer there question but made them come to a conclusion themselves.
With a burst of speed, from the water she pushed behind her as she swam, she headed for shore. If she was to be attacked by tickling she'd feel much safer on shore. She wasn't very strong so resistance would be hard for her but hey, being her she had to always try. She quickly pulled herself up on to the grass, a little ways away from her sleeping Gold dragonet. She looked back for Riler, as if suspecting a quick, and quiet, attack. She didn't know him well enough to be able to predict what tactics he'd use but she was a pretty good judge... sometimes.

“I don’t know,” Wolf said, “am I?” This answered Riler’s question quite well. His fingers began to creep away from his side when Wolf suddenly bolted away from him, rushing to the shore. Riler burst out laughing, slapping the water with his hands, sending water into the air. She turned back to look at him, eyeing his warily. Riler daintily made his way over to the shoreline. Still lying in the water, he looked up at her for a moment, before speaking. “That’s a yes, then?” He smiled sweetly as he walked out of the water, shaking his hair dry. “Don’t worry, I’ll spare you from being tickled. For now. Though I can’t promise you I’ll be so gracious in the future,” he said with an ominous tone. “And just in case you’re thinking of asking, no, I’m not ticklish,” he said, lying through his teeth. He was, in truth, rather ticklish, but he didn’t like sharing that information with other people for obvious reasons.
The sun was still high in the sky, he noted as he sat down next to her. He grabbed at his shirt, quickly pulling it over his slender body. He looked out over the water for a moment, not sure of what to say. This wasn’t exactly natural for Riler; he usually had some witty statement, or some remark, to say. He tried to ease himself by stretching he arms up to the sky, yawning. He placed his hands on the ground, leaning on them for support as he leaned backwards. His palm encompassed a small, smooth rock. He picked up the rock, examined it for a moment, and then threw it as hard as he could. The rock went up, hung in mid air for a moment longer, and then splashed into the water. Riler watched the water rippled, dazed.

Wolf gave a 'pfft' sound, giving a playful roll of her eyes. "Spare me?" she said back to him, looking as if that wasn't even a possibility. "I'd just have Serinth eat you." She said this rather seriously, her expression blank. Then she started laughing. She knew that Serinth would never do such a thing, besides, Riler seemed like a well-behaved boy. She propped herself up on her elbows, crossing one long leg over the other. She turned her head to the left quickly, watching Riler attempt to amuse himself with a single rock. She kept quiet, wondering if maybe he was deep in thought, not wanting to talk. She didn't know what to say herself, looking away from him in case he saw her. She bit her bottom lip gently, growing in nervousness. 'He probably is ticklish,' she thought, snickering to herself. She didn't believe any one that said they weren't. She felt a prescience in her mind, and she knew then that Serinth was stirring. She looked over at the Golden dragonet, past Riler, its wings stretching out as its body pulled up into a sitting position. What did I miss? Hopefully not food because I'm starved, Serinth sent to her bonded. The hatchling's eyes fixed up on Riler, wondering why he was still here. What's the boy doing Mine? Hello my love, I hope you slept well. You missed nothing, I assure you. The boy is still here because he wishes to be, and I wish him to be; its nice to have someone to hang out with. Serinth rose, walking past Riler to reach Wolf. The dragonet nuzzled into her side, laying by her side. Serinth's hide shimmered brilliantly, her faceted eyes now whirring a blue. She looked up into Wolf's face, regarding her. "Serinth's hungry," Wolf told Riler, looking from Serinth to the boy. "Do you maybe want to grab a bite to eat?" she asked him, hoping that he'd say yes.

Riler didn’t notice that Serinth had awoken. He kept his line of vision firmly on the water ripples. That is, until the gold dragonet walked in front of him. He blinked a couple times, watching the young Queen as she affectionately nuzzled into Wolf’s side. As Wolf asked him the question, he shrugged his shoulders. He wasn’t that hungry at the moment, but he knew that he could eat something, anything. He smiled brightly at her. “I’d enjoy that very much,” he said enthusiastically. He rose to his feet and held out a hand to help Wolf to her feet. “Need some help getting up, Miss Wolf?” He asked teasingly. He felt like he could act aloof with her, more than he could with the other people in Dark Moon. He wasn’t sure why, but he liked it.

"Why thank-you," she said, her voice mocking. She smiled at him, grabbing his hand. She allowed him to pull her up, dusting herself off a bit. She kept a moment's silence as she studied Riler's face before looking to a pleading Serinth. "We're going, we're going," she told the dragonet, letting Serinth take the lead. Wolf grabbed Riler's arm shyly, pulling him along with her. He reminded her of herself; which was quite surprising since she didn't think it possible to find someone who mirrored her traits. "So, we might as well head to the Kitchens, no?" she asked. She knew that he probably didn't know his way around still, so she'd be happy to show him a place where he could go to get some food. 'I'm glad he's here,' she thought to herself, 'he's going to make a good Dragonrider.' She knew for a fact that he had amiable qualities so she didn't see any reason why a dragonet wouldn't single him out as a partner. She had been watching him, looking away in a respectful-manner.
Serinth's tail wavered back and forth behind her as she walked along at her own preferred speed. She looked back at Wolf and Riler every now and then, a draconian smile lighting her face. Food, food, food, she sang to Hers.

Riler lifted the young weyrling to her feet. Wolf was staring into his face, and he into hers. He wondered what she was thinking about while she stared at him. Was she judging him privately? Was he just being paranoid? Riler assumed it was the latter, but one never could be too careful, he reasoned. She turned away talking to Serinth, breaking the awkwardness between them. Just when Riler thought he was free from her for just a moment, she grabbed his arm and began to pull him along. Usually, when someone he didn’t know very well touched him a lot, he’d get antsy with them. Here, though, he didn’t try to resist her grasp; on the contrary, he enjoyed the contact. “So, we might as well head to the Kitchens, no?” Wolf asked Riler. He nodded his head. “That’s generally where one can find food, yes.” He gave a shy smile, feeling very mellow and placated. Riler let Wolf take the lead. It wasn’t that he didn’t know where the Kitchen’s were—in fact, it was one of the few places he was fairly sure he could get to from anywhere in the Weyr—it was just that she might know a shortcut.

Wolf stopped, his sleeve still firmly in her palm's grasp. "Is that sarcasm I detect?" she asked, raising an eyebrow. She gave him a cheeky smirk, lightly smacking him upside the head. "That's what you get for that sort-of behavior mister. Not appreciated around here, nope". Serinth stopped impatiently, crossing her arms. She appeared unimpressed by how slowly they were getting there. Two seconds in to walking and they had already stopped. Yes but you seem to give it all the time, Serinth said in hearing range of both adolescents. She smiled, despite her impending hunger. It was pretty obvious by now that the little Gold didn't have the heart to stay mad for very long.
Wolf turned around, shooting Serinth a playful glance. "Oh, because a dragon knows oh so much about the tones of a humans voice." Serinth shrugged, her chuckle coming out as the per usual rumble. Wolf put a hand on her forehead, shaking her head back and forth; faking shame. "Look at how she adopts human characteristics! Its a disease." Serinth adopted a shocked expression until she realized that Wolf was only joking about the whole 'disease' bit. Wolf tugged Riler along while she walked backward so that they could have a conversation. She was pretty skilled at walking backwards... and then there was the times that she wasn't... "So, its your turn to fire in to the random abyss of my world. Give us a topic." She beamed at him, glad to have a boy around to talk to again. When she had first arrived at the Weyr she had been close friends with J'kel but he had seemed to have disappeared somewhere lately. She pushed the thought away, for it disrupted her happiness so and she wanted to be nothing but smiles while hanging out with her newest friend.
Serinth hadn't been around long enough to see J'kel and Wolf interact so she was partially blind to those months of Wolf's life-except for when the girl dwelt up on them. Wolf and Serinth held a close bond, although, and the pair shared practically everything together (even the awkward moments). Serinth recalled when Wolf had received her Weyrling knot and had nearly tripped while doing so; it had been a shining moment for her-really...

Riler was about to respond to the question before he was playfully reprimanded. He took the pseudo-scolding with good humor, hanging his head in shame. He replied with a quiet, “Yes ma’am,” before grinning widely, beaming up into her bright face.
“Yes but you seem to give it all the time,” the young dragon said. He held back a snicker as Wolf began to bicker at Serinth. When Wolf hung her head in shame at her Gold, Riler let out a small, quiet laugh. He really admired the pair and how they interacted. They shared so much affection for each other, and they had a very amusing way of demonstrating their fondness.
Wolf had to tug on his arm to break him out of these reflections and begin walking again. “Random abyss, huh?” Riler asked after Wolf brought up the question. His voice trailed off as his eyes were drawn to her feet. He was a little worried that she would stumble backwards and possibly hurt herself. He knew this was probably silly, that she probably did this all the time—for she wasn’t falling or even seeming concerned in the least about falling—but still the worry remained. He took one last nervous glance before looking back up into her face, trying to look as passive as possible. Best not to let her know he worried about her. But why did that fact worry Riler even more? He decided not to question that; for the moment, anyways. He took a moment to formulate a question. Nothing came to mind. Frustrated, he let his mind go, and vowed to say the first question that came into his head. “Have you ever had a boyfriend?” He blurted out. It was around that point in time he vowed never to do that kind of question processing ever again. Ever. And it was also around this point in time that he forgot about that vow.

Wolf smirked when he repeated her question, giving a small nod of her head. "Yah... abyss..." she said softly. The reason for her soft speech was that she was becoming enveloped in thought. Riler kept on looking to her feet, and then to her face, and she didn't have the foggiest clue as to why. She had been prepared to ask: Is something wrong? but she barely had anytime when his own question came flying at her. She stopped once more and a loud scoff came from Serinth behind her. She stared in to Riler's face-shocked by his boldness. She had to admit, a part of her admired the fact that he could just be so... forward was it?
Her grip on his arm tightened a bit, and for the first time she realized that they hadn't broken contact; since she had been holding on to his arm the entire time. Her greenish-colored eyes softened. Serinth felt a change in her Rider that she had never experienced before, which made the dragonet stand there soaking it all in. "I-I," she stuttered. Uh-oh, her lack of speech was coming back. She had managed to overcome it, somewhat, or at least around her close friends. "Well, I... There was this one-but we never-and..." She bit her lip gently, a blush coloring her once pale cheeks. "No," she coughed out. She didn't move a muscle, feeling embarrassed that she had been stuttering, and embarrassed by having responded with a "no". She had never felt close to any of the Hold boys, they were all after only one thing and her brother R'xis had educated her on that whole... area... She knew that it wasn't the kind-of relationship she wanted, the whole used and abused thing anyways. She swallowed hard, wondering if this was how R'xis felt when Akki had been around, at first. She rubbed the back of her head but then her arm just dropped to her side limply.

Riler honestly didn’t know how she’d react to the question. A couple different reactions flashed through his mind; her pushing him down; punching him in the noise before storming out of the area; bursting out into tears at being reminding of a past relationship, etc. It wasn’t until later that Riler realized that in all of those possible reactions, not at one point in time did the possibility of her not having been in a relationship came up. He supposed that she must have been in one at some point in time, for whatever reason.
He didn’t even notice she was still touching him until her hand clenched tighter over him. When she began to stutter, Riler felt extremely embarrassed; not for her, but for his own sake, for having asked that damned question in the first place! He was about to ask her—no, beg her—to forget the question and forgive him for asking it, when she managed to hint at the idea that she had been in some sort of an engagement with a person, but then she quickly covered it up with a simple no. Was she just sorting out her facts in her head, or what she covering something up? If she was covering it up, why?
No! It’s none of my business.
“P-please,” he asked, “forget I asked that. It was none of my business!” His cheeks blushed a dark shade of red, which stood out on his normally pale face. “J-just forget it.”

Wolf figured that it was out in the open now, and she hadn't really had any one to talk to about this sort-of thing for some time now. She looked away from Riler, her bangs falling in to her eyes. "Its okay," she attempted to keep her voice at a normal level but it squeaked down low. 'Heck no, don't get emotional. Don't be a typical girl...' she thought to herself-hoping that she wouldn't embarrass herself yet again in front of Riler. "When I first came to the Weyr I had a best friend named J'kel but we just kind-of, I don't know, broke apart somehow. Perhaps its because he wasn't interested maybe... We never had anything that could be even close to a relationship but still". She hid her pain with a fake smile when she looked back up at Riler's face. Her eyes twinkled with the formation of sparkling tears.
"I don't think he ever really knew how I felt any way, I don't even think I was certain about how I felt... It was just a crush". She shrugged it off. Serinth's hunger was becoming non-existent while she focused up on Riler and Wolf's conversation. She was glad that Wolf was opening up to some one again. Sooner or later Serinth knew that Wolf would fall in to some-sort of relationship with some one and she had an inkling in the back of her mind that she thought better left unsaid. She knew that Wolf would involve her at a time she thought best... She wasn't closed out to Wolf's present feelings although; which she was ever so pleased of because the feeling that she had been having previously was a nice one and it was growing.
Wolf wondered how he'd respond to what she had told him-would he be up set that she was going on about some guy that he didn't even know? "It wasn't all that recent, its been a while since then now and I'm pretty much over it. I just wanted to feel that..." she trailed off before picking up her sentence again. "I guess I wanted to feel that way... want to..." She blushed again, but this time she didn't look away from Riler, having corrected herself at the end. She had wanted to feel that way before and she still did, what person didn't? She was a very shy girl, Weyrwoman Christae, a newer Bronzerider, and all of her friends had noticed this within' a matter of seconds.

Riler was relieved to hear her accept his apology. It would crush him if one of his few new friends in this new place already hated him. There would be plenty of time to gain enemies later in life; it was in this new, foreign place that he really needed a friend. He was about to start walking when, much to Riler’s surprise, Wolf continued talking about her relationship. He almost considers cutting her off, to say she didn’t need to go on talking about it, but his curiosity got the best of him.
Hm, some crush, he thought idly to himself as she shrugged. Riler couldn’t really judge her situation; for one, he had never been in any sort of relationship, himself; and two, he didn’t know this J’kel person. However, it seemed to Riler that Wolf had deeply cared for him. These suspicions were built on as she continued talking, explaining how she wanted—no, wants—to feel like that. He wasn’t sure what to make of her correction; did she mean that she personally wants to feel like that, or the simply truth that everyone does?
As Riler searched for words, he thought of some girls back at his home that he had considered asking out. But he had been too shy, waited too long. The pretty ones and the nice ones were all taken by the time Riler had been taken to the Weyr. He had been stupid, then, and learned from his mistakes—or he had hoped he had. “…W-well,” he began, “we all want to feel…that. Ya know… Admin's Note:[/hr]” His voice trailed off for a moment as he tried to word his sentences carefully. “I’m glad you’re over…J’kel…It’s important to get over these kind of things, to not let them tie you down, so to speak…As my father always says, ‘live and learn.’” And it was true, his father oftentimes did say that; usually not to him, but he said it all the same.

Wolf smiled a bit when he spoke. "Yeah, every one does want to feel that way-your right. Especially me," she huffed. She pushed her hair back out of her eyes. She listened to him go on further to give her friend-to-friend advise. He seemed nervous about something, she could just be grasping at straws here but... "Thanks Riler, I feel better-if only a little". She chuckled. She rested her other hand on his shoulder, giving him a little shake. "Your definitely great at the whole talking thing-don't lose that". The more full-on contact was making her tingle awkwardly. She closed her eyes for a second, while looking down at Riler's feet. She then looked back to his face, hoping that somehow her weird little idea for handling her current situation would work. It didn't-of course. 'Oh well, had to try something,' she thought humorously.
Nothing about this was funny though, she had to make herself realize that! What she was feeling was real, it wasn't a game, and it scared her. 'This is a normal girl thing its just... All guys, no, not all guys'. She had never felt this way except around J'kel, but even then, he hadn't really given her the attention she wanted from him. She wondered how Serinth was perceiving all of this but was too afraid to ask. The golden dragonet was like her own magnificent psychiatrist.
What was Riler feeling about this right now, she wondered. Was he having the same difficulty that she was-or worse? 'No, no. Couldn't be, wouldn't be,' she attempted to convince herself.

‘Especially you?’ Riler was curious. Why especially her? Was she simply being dramatic? Did she seek pity?
‘No, she doesn’t seem to be that kind of person.’ Wolf seemed like a strong individual; somewhat shy, but strong nonetheless. Riler wouldn’t expect her to be the kind of person who sought constant attention; he hadn’t seen that side of her from the time he knew her, as short as that was. Was it possible that Riler just didn’t know her well enough?
‘No,’ he asserted to himself. ‘That’s not Wolf.’ And that was that.
Just as the rosy cheeks on Riler’s face began to fade, a new wave of red seeped back into his face at the compliment of being a good speaker. He hadn’t ever thought of himself as a good speaker; if anything, he considered himself a lousy speaker; he was always stuttering and tripping over his own words and sentences. He was relieved just to get a few coherent words out of his mouth.
She went silent again, her eyes seeming to gaze up and down his body. Was she avoiding eye contact with him on purpose? Or was Riler just being paranoid? As the silence grew, so did Riler’s paranoia that he did something…wrong. Awful. Terrible. Something. He just didn’t know what that something was. And he didn’t know how to change the conversation. If he suddenly altered this course of discussion, she’d think that he felt uncomfortable in these kinds of situations—he did, but he didn’t want to let her know that—and probably never talk to him about this kind of stuff ever again. She seemed like she didn’t talk to very many people about this—‘So why is she talking to me about it?’—so, to Riler, it seemed like she needed a place to vent this kind of stuff.
He placed his hand on the hand of Wolf’s that was touching him, putting it on there gently, to give the impression of kindness. “Thanks, you’re a great talker, too. Brave, too!” He smiled, trying to lift the mood. “I’d never have the guts to tell that to someone I hardly knew.”

When he put his hand on hers she thought it by-time they went and got some food, especially since her stomach began to growl, and she hated it when that happened (all the more when others were present). She chuckled nervously, taking her hand off his shoulder to pat her stomach. "Food. Energy. Needing," she said, using single words to get her point across. She released the grip of his arm in her other hand as well. "Thanks, I try to be 'brave'," she teased, poking the side of his face. "Well, I just thought I'd tell you anyhow, so you weren't suspicious or anything. I know I don't like feeling that I'm untrustworthy or something... I just didn't want to give you the impression that I thought you were-which your not," she explained. She put her hands on her hips and looked over to Serinth. Riler was right, she wasn't an attention grabber. Most things she just kept to herself, and they were either never said or dragged out with the passing of time.
"My apologies love, I promise there'll be no more stopping to talk. If the talking is done it'll be on the way". She motioned Riler to follow her with the signaling wave of a hand. Good, lets go! Serinth sent to Wolf, walking ahead of Hers happily. Wolf was surprised the little Gold could walk at all, poor Serinth needed nourishment. She slipped her hands in to her pockets, focusing her eyesight dead ahead, trying not to think too much. She always over analyzed everything and for once she'd just prefer not to. She walked at a quickened pace, wanting to get to the Kitchens before she passed out from hunger.
"Hurry up slowpoke!" she called out to Riler with a playful chuckle. When they go to the kitchens they'd probably have to prepare some food for themselves, though it was likely that the drudges were cooking up something for the Riders. She put her hands behind her head for support, leaning back on them. She took in a big whiff of the fresh air, eyes narrowing when her stomach growled again. She looked down and jabbed her stomach with a finger. "Bad, you be patient!" she smirked.
I'll not question you on what just went on Mine, I'd prefer to let you come to me with it so for now lets just leave it be and enjoy the taste of food going down our throats. Wolf was about to say something but paused, frowning a bit, sounds good to me dearest one... She wasn't surprised that Serinth had felt what she had been feeling, she knew how irritable the gold got when she blocked her out from these types of things so she didn't bother to try keeping anything from her anymore. Plus a dragon and rider were supposed to keep a close bond unless it was painful for one or the other.
OOC| You can create a thread in the Kitchens if you'd like. :0! Them arriving there 'n all.
