"Hmm," Derek mumbled, "Fort Weyr? I've heard of it. How long were you there? Since you were born... and why were you moved to this Weyr? Can you only... umm, Impress at certain Weyrs?" It was a good thing Derek was an smart kid or he would be drowning after diving head first into this new way of life. He thought of his parents and his tutor. He lowered his head so he was looking at the ground. The though of his parents not letting him look in the house... he scowled. The scowl was quickly replaced by sadness. He took a deep breath and looked back up with a small grin.
"I wonder what I would look like with hair like yours... one day I will dye my hair all different colors and see which I like best. But I'd have to Bleach it first. It's probably too dark." The idea struck him as funny. He had always had brown hair but purple, red, or even blonde seemed crazy.
"Akki," Derek began with mock exasperation, "You must have such low self-esteem. I already told you, your eyes are amazing. I've never seen a pair like them! I think they are beautiful." Derek had no problem complimenting or flattering a girl. He was expert at it, in fact, and never felt awkward.

Radim frowned slightly. He would not exactly support someone having bright purple hair. To each their own, though, and he found Akki's reaction to the idea very amusing. She had to be one of the most sociable Riders he had ever met. He chuckled when he heard her advice. "I don't know if that would go over very well with some people." He mused, tilting his head as she put a finger to her lips.
He thought for a moment at Derek's question before answering smoothly. "I was there for about five Turns, and was leaving when a Bluerider from here pretty much insisted I come. They were a young pair, so I don't know if it was their first Search or what." He shrugged. "Ever since I saw my first Hatching, I've wanted the chance to Impress."

Ooc|| I don't mind Akki couldn't help but giggle at Derek's amount of questions, he sure wasn't used to Weyr life. But she had the feeling that he would get into it in no time at all. She grinned as Derek said he was going to dye his hair many colors, picturing him with a range of different hues in all at once. Personally, I say go with blue for your hair. Ebbeth said for everyone to hear. Akki snorted, "Don't do it. If you do he'll tell everyone you did it as a tribute to him." Akki laughed loudly, "Derek, I probably have too much self-esteem. I'm just not good with compliments.". She slung an arm around the boy and said with a grin and a nod, "Know what Derek? We're going to have to find you a girl while you're here. Don't ask me why, I just say that's what we need to do.". Her arm slid off of Derek's shoulders and sighed with Radim's comment, "That's true. But I'll support you Derek, but only quietly. I don't want people after me."

Derek managed to catch Radim's frown. He couldn't help a grin. He had no real intention of dying his hair. He was happy with it in all its dullness. He ruffled it. Note to self: stop messing with your hair. It's just starting to look ugly.
Derek stretched his arms up, his left hand grabbing his right elbow. He bent his right arm so both were criss-crossed behind his head. Then he slid his arms apart so one hand was on top of the other. It was always so painfully obvious to him how he seemed to pose a lot and the thing was, this was totally unintentional and unwanted. He felt very unlife-like when he did it- like a sculpture. A flicker of a frown crossed his tan face for just a moment.
"Hatchings sound amazing. I wish I could see one before it was mine. It'll be... weird." Derek had a horrible vision of something go terribly wrong and him ending up getting attacked by a dragon or somehow making a dragon die. He grimanced, closed his eyes, and then looked back up.
Derek looked up at the blue dragon. Despite blue being one of the smaller dragons, this one was still insanely big to him. Even the smallest of greens would be. He chuckled at his comment. "I'll certainly consider it," he said jokingly, glancing happily at Akki.

Blue eyes scanned the different tunnel intersections. Why did it have to be so big? A soft sigh escaped her lips, this was what she got for not being a proper Candidate. If she had done it right she'd be able to find everything easily. Yeah, she knew where the Bowl, Kitchen, and Sands were but she was wondering where the injured went. It'd probably be easier to find if she wasn't evading all the people she saw.
She frowned as she ended up exiting the tunnels again. She supposed she'd just have to give up her pride and ask for help. She tilted her head and squinted as she saw three fingers standing around. She shrugged, it wasn't like she had a preference on who to talk to. Well, as long as it wasn't that goldrider or yellow. That'd be uncomfortable.
She made her way up to the three picking out Akki first. You couldn't be in DM for more than two minutes (probably not even that) and not know her. The other two weren't very familiar. She slowed slightly as she got closer. Suddenly she wished for Lirlith's presence. But the dragon had declined, saying sleep was better.

Radim's features took on a startled look as Ebbeth put his opinion in on the topic of Derek dying his hair. A second later after hearing the dragon's voice in his head, he smirked at the rider's next comment. He would have to get used to the occisional mental voice of a dragon, especially if he were to Impress. Derek didn't seem particularly against the idea of 'finding him a girl'. Personally, Radim would rather worry about Impressing first. But they would have plenty of time to worry about that.
"I think pretty much every Candidate sees their first Hatching when their standing on the Sands themselves." He suggested to Derek. "Unless they live at the Weyr or are in a Holder's family."
The new Candidate had been watching the comings and goings in the Bowl out of the corner of his eyes, and he now nodded in the direction of a figure coming toward the group. She was shorter and looked to have somewhat blond hair, but he couldn't tell anything else since she was still a little ways away.

Akki nodded in agreement. "I did at least. Never saw a hatching before that day. I wish I did though, it would probably calm me down.". She grinned widely, "Nothing like having no idea what's going on as you wait to Impress.". Akki's eyes glazed over for a moment as she was sucked back into memories of the past. Christae's reaction to when Kaith stopped in front of her, how Tirith had cut herself as she burst out of the egg and how could she forget the fact that Ebbeth had tripped when he approached her? A fact that he would deny for a long time afterwards, refusing to believe the so called 'lie'.
Akki blinked, her eyes sliding back into focus. She hugged herself and said in an excited voice, "I can't wait to see you guys on the hatching sands! It's quite fun watching your friends stand there and Impress.". Akki looked in the direction Radim nodded and narrowed her eyes slightly as she tried to identify who it was. After a moments inspection, she knew it was Sorcha. She didn't really know the girl, but she did know that she was the one who snatched away the void egg that contained Rimith.
She couldn't exactly say she was mad at the girl, Akki had thought about it and realized that if she was desperate enough, she might have done the same thing. Well, maybe she wouldn't have, but she knew a few people who might have. The blue rider also couldn't help but think what would have happened if Hasima and Rimith were her beside her right now. What would the girl say?

The thought of a hatchling made Derek's heart thump. It seemed like it would be so fascinating. And apparently people would be attacked sometimes. That sounded like something that would be horrific when it happened but afterward, as long as the attackee wasn't seriously hurt, it would be kind of funny. Derek was lost in this little thought and hardly heard Radim talk to him.
"Hmm... I think it would be better for Candidates to see what's coming but who am I to argue with the system? Heh. It seems it works for most people."
Derek was facing away from Sorcha and didn't notice her until the other two squinted in her direction. He spun around and saw another member of the Weyr. Another blondie. But her hair was much darker than Akki's and she also seemed a bit younger. Derek also noticed that there was no dragon with her. He wondered if she was a candidate or rider. He glanced at Akki and noticed she seemed a little uncomfortable. He made a mental note to ask Akki about that later.

Great, she thought, now they are all looking. But, what did she expect? Them to just all keep talking and not notice her coming near even though two were facing her direction. She'd have to interrupt them anyway so it didn't matter when they notice her coming, she told herself.
She glanced quickly at the other two before looking at Akki, barely registering more than they were male and seemingly new. When they had focused on her, she had lengthened her strides so it didn't take her much longer to appear before them.
"Hey," her smile turned out mangled so she gave it up. She wasn't that good at pretending emotions. It was far easier to lock them away into a mask that gave away nothing. "I've seen you around and you seem to know everyone and everything around Dark Moon, so I was thinking you could help me." Not that you would, who would? She'd definitely have to work on her pessimistic thinking. But, it wasn't like anyone in the Weyr was of the disposition to like her ... well Christae might have forgiven her but that was iffy and that didn't mean the woman was willing to help anyway. She forced the thoughts away, getting far too distracted for her own liking.

Akki hooked her thumbs into her clothing and twisted them an act of...anxiety? An act to show that this was uncomfortable? Even she didn't know. She made a fist for a second, a nail gouging into her palm before unclenching. She watched as Sorcha strode towards them. When Sorcha talked to her, Akki barely managed to contain her surprise. She didn't know exactly why she was surprised, she knew her and Sorcha would have to say 'Hi' to each other sometime or another. Part of her mind wandered, wondering if she was betraying Hasima by talking to the girl. She shook her head slightly, to herself. No, Hasima wouldn't mind, the girl would have shyly smiled at Sorcha.
Akki smiled back at Sorcha, a real smile too, even if it seemed to be a little thin and lacking something. "Ha, I just like to pretend I know everyone and everything around here." Akki said with a snort of amusement. She flicked her her head back, making her hair get out of her face and settle behind her head. "But I'll try. What do you need?" She asked. She had to admit, she was rather curious about this. Ebbeth lowered his head and stared at Sorcha with a whirling blue eye, he too was curious.

"Regardless of how many Hatchings we've seen before, we're all going to be nervous when we're actually out there." Radim offered, smiling as he thought of what it would really be like. As much as he would like to think that he would be perfectly comfortable standing on the hot Sands on Hatching day, he knew that he would end up being nervous. Impressing was a chance at a totally new life, and a good one at that in his opinion.
As the other girl approached, it seemed to Radim that Akki was acting ever-so-slightly different suddenly. By the new comer's appearance, he couldn't see a reason. She looked like a normal person. He wondered if she was a Candidate, but even though she was asking for help, there was something about her that denied that idea. He shifted his feet and glanced at Derek, wondering if the other Candidate had sensed the change in the air as well. Or maybe Akki had just been thinking of something that bothered her before the other girl had even arrived, and he was just over-analyzing things with details. His eyes fell back on the two women, curious as to what the younger needed help with.

With each step the girl took towards them, Akki's anxiety level seemed to increase. Derek shifted his weight to his other foot. Awkward. He glanced at Radim, wondering what he was thinking.
The girl came to Akki and asked for help. Derek knew he wouldn't really be able to offer any weyr-related help so he instead tried to analyze the situation. He would introduce himself after this.

"Well, I need something of a tour around this place." She glanced at Akki's friends, " ... Unless you're already busy?" Sorcha almost hoped that Akki would say no, for she didn't really want to talk to anyone in the Weyr but she did need to quit getting lost. She also needed a point to the infirmary. "I could always ask someone else if you're too busy right now." She absently twirled a lock of her dirty blond hair between her fingers.
She was starting to fiercely wish that Lirlith was here. The dragonet seemed a little moody and standoffish but at least she was someone more familiar than these three. The other two looked like Candidates, more from the fact that they looked puzzled by her presence than anything else, made her guess that. He was pretty cute. Oh, and that's just the right thing to be thinking about right now. Mentally she rolled her eyes at the stupidity of the thought.
She briefly inspected the red head before turning back to Akki. No doubt about it, she was probably here due to the fact that she was drawn to the sent of Candidates. She wondered if Akki had canine in her or something. She always seemed to pop up when new people arrived ... then again, Sorcha didn't know Akki well enough to be saying that.

Akki grinned and flicked the top of Radim's ear and teased, "Just make sure you go to the bathroom before hand Radim. Accidents shouldn't happen on the hatching grounds.". She snickered, remembering how nervous everyone looked when they stood at a hatching. She glanced at the candidates for a second and had the faint feeling they could recognize the awkward situation between Sorcha and herself.
Akki grinned crookedly, "Actually you came at a good time. Radim and Derek just got here, so I could give all three of you a tour at once." She said before adding with a shrug, "If that's okay with all of you, I mean.". It was a nervous kind of situation, considering Sorcha's past and Akki knowing Hasima, but Akki couldn't help but wonder how many people here really talked to Sorcha. She might have been lonely, Akki probably would have writhered up and died by now if she didn't have anyone to talk too.
She picked at her thumb unconciously, waiting to see everyone's reactions to this suggestion. I say you should do it. Then when you guys do that, I can go off somewhere and sleep Ebbeth added out loud, innocently and with a sniff. "That's all you do, sleep." The blue rider mumured with an exaggerated roll of her eyes. And all you do is...Oh. Wait. You don't do anything. Lazy. The dragon returned without a moments pause.

The bluerider reverted back to her normal self for a split second to respond to him, and Radim almost gave an involuntary start when she flicked his ear. Since working at Fort, he was not exactly used to being teased. Everything had been so serious for him there. He smiled at Akki but did not reply, feeling that the conversation was now a little irrelevant.
Wait, was this other girl new to the Weyr or not? Radim was getting slightly confused with the situation. He didn't like not knowing why the air had a not-so welcome feel to it. But, at least Akki was sociable enough to be talking anyways. She was still uncomfortable for whatever reason, but she was still talking to the other girl, and offering to help as well. She really was prbably the most sociable person he'd ever met, and he'd not even known her for a day.
"Works for me." He said in reply to Akki's suggestion. "I don't like the idead of getting lost here" He held out a hand to the other girl. "I'm Radim. I don't believe your name's been mentioned yet?"

Even if Derek was not sure about the change in Akki's aura, it was soon confirmed. She flicked Radim's ear as she replied to him. It was such a difference. Derek could see the awkwardness all over her face. He bit his lip and scratched the back of his head nervously.
A tour? Was that all she wanted? Derek was ebginning to think she wanted Akki to kill someone. Well that was perfect! they would probably be going on a tour soon. Just after he had the though, Akki said it aloud. He grinned and glanced at Radim who was leaning in to shake the girl's hand.
"Oh, yeah, sorry. I'm Derek. Of course. Heh." Derek glanced up with a grin. Perhaps he should think before he spoke but at least he made a fool out of himself in a totally adorable way.

She stared at his hand a moment before reaching out to shake his hand. She didn't think she'd actually gotten an actual normal introduction in this Weyr yet. Then again her short term memory wasn't the best and she'd been busy. She tweaked the corner of her mouth, "I'm Sorcha," she glanced over at Derek as he spoke and briefly smiled at him, "pleasure to meet the both of you." she said letting go of Radim's hand.
She looked to Akki, "Where's the first place on the tour?" She'd be lying if she said she wasn't worried about who they might meet on the tour ... with Akki's personality they might find her just for her company, but she'd have to deal with the Weyr sometime. She doubted she could transfer right now if she wanted to. Didn't you have to wait until your dragonet could at least go /between/ on its own? She didn't want to leave anyway, it was hard enough adjusting here without putting all new people in the mix.

She raised her hands over her head, hooking them together as she gave stretched for a moment. She lowered her arms and frowned slightly," Good question. Where should we go first?". She had the faint feeling that Sorcha only asked for the tour to find something and that the girl didn't seem to keen on meeting people, well, certain somebodies.
She shrugged and offered, "We can head to the candidate barracks first. That way you guys can shove off your stuff, and you won't have to carry it around everywhere and we can just go from there.". She paused for a moment, "Is there any where you guys want to see? Like, specifically?". She turned to her blue and waved him away, "I'll meet up with you later Ebbeth, go be lazy and sleep.".
The blue huffed, and blew cold air at the blue rider before pumping his wings and dissapearing from sight as he came farther and farther away.
